A mother has died after being stabbed by a knife-wielding man who went on a killing rampage in Sydney, with surgeons racing to save her nine-month-old baby’s life.
The mother died in hospital, bringing the total number of victims to six people, while her baby was stabbed in the stomach, Australian media reported.
An eye-witness described how he attempted to use shirts from the shopping centre to compress the baby’s wounds and stop it from bleeding. “There was a lot of blood on the floor. I hope the baby is all right,” he told 9News Sydney.

“Police have confirmed 40-year-old Joel Cauchi as the man behind a deadly stabbing spree at a Sydney shopping centre that claimed six lives.
Among those who died was a mother whose nine-month-old daughter was also stabbed and remains in hospital after undergoing surgery.
