Learning to shape your shots can make the game of golf way more fun, and also lower your scores! If you can hit draws, fades, and high and low shots on command, you can work your shots into winds to make them straight, and go for pin placements that would otherwise be too risky.
Tiger Woods famously has his “9 shots” drills that he likes to work on in practice – hitting high medium and low versions of draws, straight shots, and fades. In this lesson, Coach Ed teaches Patrick how to hit each of these shots reliably on the course so they hold up under pressure.

Keep 'em coming, guys. Great job as always!
Good stuff, I especially liked the comment about fluffy lies are easier to draw/hook and tight lies are easier to slice/fade,
Thanks for the great tips. Looking forward to practicing these this week. In my s60s now and hurt a bit after play in lower back like many folks. Have been wondering if fades or draws are easier on the body? Probably not but us golfers will try anything. Thanks
Thanks. Great info
Great tips here. Will give it a try. Any tips on hitting low out from under trees?
Thanks for content assume same principles for the short game for chipping etc.
Awesome tips for drawing the ball…
Awesome thks
Great info. Looking forward to practicing this.
The most informative golf page I know of. Great work!
Does this include the Driver as well, thanks for the great video.
Does this include the driver? Thanks
Hi Ed, I had that thumb surgery in January, so I'm still not allowed to hit shots yet. But this is a fabulous primer on how to hit fades and draws.
Like Patrick, I was always a fader. So I'm really anxious to try this all out when I return to playing. Really appreciate you taking to time to so meticulously detail how to accomplish
the desired shot. All the best
Great lesson. Really informative. Thanks.
Awesome work Patrick!
You too Ed!
😂😂
Bueno Bueon Men! Spot on, love the "KISS" methodology!
Ed,
I have heard and seen many differing opinions on grip pressure…. I have toyed with firm and light pressure and gave found that the light pressure help me not cast as bad, with better follow through than firmer pressure. However, firm pressure just feels more comfortable and in control!
Is there some instructions you can share as to the pros vs cons of each and what is the preferred pressure for consistency, direction, distance, etc…
Thanks!!
Liked the flashlight visual to the target line. Easy to understand and doesn't fill your head with a bunch of thoughts. KISS
You are the most user-friendly instructor I have watched. Your no frills approach is very refreshing
What Kind of Sorcery Is This?………… It's mind blowing to see it happen before my eyes. The Sensei shows Patrick how to hit a draw and it draws, how to hit a fade and it fades, a hook and it hooks, slice and it slices. This is so simple to remember. The flashlight aid is crucial for muscle memory.
Cant wait to hit the range and try this technique …thanks
I'm trying to get this straight in my head… How would you set up if you had to severly fade/slice a ball to a green but the only opeing was about 35 degrees to the line to the pin? I don't believe that you could wing along the line to the pin as you have mentioned here. I would assume that it would be the exact opposite for a draw/hook. I may have figured it out, but I'd still be interested to see what you have to say to make sure I'm correct. Thanks.
Great job guys, I never really understood this till now! I will be watching this video a few more times to get the hang of all the different shots! If you could show a camera shot of the feet position would be a big help in putting it all together!! Thanks!
You are the most amazing instructor! I live in Missouri and wished I could go to a clinic or something. I do have a question that doesn’t have anything to do with this video. Why is it that I can make fabulous contact with a driver on my home sim or the driving range but as soon as I tee it up on the course everything goes to hell in a hand basket?!!!! Nothing feels good!
What a great lesson, ive always swung the club along my feet line when trying to draw and fade, but that looks like the wrong thing to do, i just need to swing along the target line and it's all to do with the follow through. Love the simplicity of your instruction and clarity.
A credit to you both the instruction is clear and is easy to understand the torchlight segment particularly
Amazing
Great video but listen at x1.25 speed and its perfect. Your welcome 😅
Your lesson are great!! Easy to follow along with.
