   I love watch Zalatoris strike a golf ball. That being said, I'd love to be standing there hearing what his instructor is saying to him. If he's trying to change his backswing plane and bring his arms down He's not going to get it done with the glove drill. The glove will continue to fall to the ground with his current backswing. If he wants a long career with no additional back surgeries…..First, He's starting from his static position. Sorry don't agree with that at all. There's nothing static in the golf swing. We want motion not static position. He has no trigger. No forward press no anything…. Just standing over the ball taking too long to pull the trigger. Too many thoughts going through the head. Second, He needs to lower his backswing plane about a foot. With his current backswing his left arm dissects his body near the base of his neck rather than the point of the right shoulder. He's running up against a similar problem that Jack Nicklaus had In the late '70s. This led to Nicklaus' swing changes in 1980 preceding his victory in the US Open and the PGA that year. For now, I won't go into how, IMO, he should go about making that change. Once he fixes his backswing then he needs to turn his attention to his downswing and change his body motion on the downswing. Obviously this swing comes from when he was young and lacking strength he would create speed and power by (basically) threw the hips from the top on the downswing. After years of that swinging at the speed that he can generate, it's going to take a toll on your spine and hips. Obviously these changes are not minor fixes. He certainly has the physical talent to make the changes and be even more successful. Without a change to his arm position in relation to his body on the backswing sticking a glove under your right armpit is pissing in the wind, so to speak.
