This week on Door Bumper Clear, Brett Griffin, Freddie Kraft, T.J. Majors, and Casey Boat recap all things Martinsville. We kick things off with Hendrick Motorsports’ historic 1-2-3 finish, coming on the 40th anniversary of the first-ever Cup win for NASCAR’s winningest team.

Brett weighs in on why Xfinity Series races are outshining NASCAR Cup Series races, stating, “It’s not supposed to be that way.”

Are we witnessing the rise of a new star in Carson Kvapil after his P4 Xfinity debut for JR Motorsports?

Plus, our take on the very public feud between Denny Hamlin and Marcus Smith, owner of Speedway Motorsports, after a tweet about Sonoma Raceway’s asphalt coming up sparked a debate.

Lastly, we tackle the controversial topic of the NextGen car’s performance on short tracks and the urgent call for a major overhaul. What changes are needed to ensure the competitiveness of the sport?

  1. I think the actual racing has gotten a lot worse. I think that the only reason most people watch the races these days with this new car, is to see what drama is going to happen. The desire for equality for the cars has backfired for NASCAR.

  2. get rid of the spotters as all they do is cause wrecks by telling their driver the other driver has a run on you so you need to block and that causes those big wrecks.

  3. That one caller has a point, I don't understand why people think that this car is so fast, even DJ made a comment in response that saying, "these cars are really fast". They're not, the car was built for road courses and short tracks yet runs slower than the truck and Xfinity series at those tracks. Taking the fastest lap average for all 3 series from Martinsville, the Cup series has the slowest lap times. WHY THE FUCK DOES THE "ELITE" SERIES DRIVE SLOWER THAN THE FEEDER SERIES. THat would be like having F1 cars go slower than the F3 series.

  4. SVG is going to knock the crap out of somebody, with his car and his fists.Australians and New Zealanders are nice ,but when enough is enough watch out!

  5. NASCAR needs to get away from racing IMSA cars with street bodies. IMSA cars are NOT made for short tracks. Get rid of the belly pan (that creates downforce) Get rid of the Wide Tires and big brakes. Because these cars are all the SAME parts, it reminds me of IROC. It seems that the trucks and Xfinity cars have more adjust-ability in them than these Cup cars
As for the tires, I think I heard Kenny Wallace talk about why the tires turn to dust instead of laying down rubber. I could be wrong

  6. Let's be real here… It's been 7-8 years since Tommy fielded a car? I'd feasible that $125,000 then would be about $400,000 today.

  7. They're never going to blow motors like they used to. They're not coming nowhere close in terms of performance to what those engines can actually do. They're playing it extremely safe, it's just good to show you how much more is left in them engines without really changing anything

  8. remove the tapered spacer $0 dollar change adds HP use the shortest spoiler smallest splitter lowest downforce under tray again $0 dollars get goodyear to bring a tire that falls off i would say another tire war but goodyear bought the exclusive rights to be the tire supplier

  9. I been asking for a 900hp xfinity car before the crappy next gen was even done being built. anyone familiar with racing knew that this next gen car was being built with too much grip to make a good stock car. clueless people in charge of Nascar

  10. A FORD wins Texas. WHY? you ask because NASCAR has to rig it or this season will end up the worst in history
