It’s the final week before the season’s first major championship as the PGA TOUR heads to TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. Rory McIlroy returns to make his third start of this event’s TPC San Antonio era; he finished runner-up in 2013 and missed the cut in 2022. He arrives here with 21 consecutive made cuts worldwide. Jordan Spieth plays in his home state this week. He finished runner-up here in 2015 and claimed victory in 2021. Missing the cut in his last two starts on TOUR, the three-time major winner is also looking to heat up before arriving in Augusta next week for the Masters Tournament. Canadian Corey Connors returns to defend his title this week. He looks to become the first back-to-back winner at the Valero Texas Open since Zach Johnson in 2008-09. He’s made five cuts out of five here and claimed victory in 2019 as well as last year’s success. Others to look out for are Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Hideki Matsuyama and Matt Fitzpatrick.

  1. Can you call it dominant if it goes to a playoff and then the playoff is decided by the other guy chunking it into a creek?

  2. My man Bhatia is the example of power comes from god level technique! Hes no more than 165lbs. Staking 💰 at 22 years young. Household name soon along with Theegala! McCarthy had one hell of a round also.

  3. Congrats to Akshay, played amazing golf all week. McCarthy with that 63 was EPIC! And Rory had an excellent tournament, top 3!!

  4. I love how Max Homa is on the advertisement at the end but the guy hasn’t won anything in ages. He’s just living off mediocrity

  5. Pffffffffttttt!! 🤣🤣🤣 McCarthy totally hit that ball in the water on purpose. I mean seriously McCarthy birdied eight of the last nine holes and hits it in the creek from 101 yards out? I don’t think so. That match ending was so rigged.

  6. Not dominant when opponent shoots 8 under on back 9, but nonetheless, both stories would have been worthwhile. Pretty good competition. Feel bad for denny, he was on a roll. Good for lefty tho, notice he was shaking his head at the end, he knew he didnt win it, denny lost it

  7. Akshay is a really fun young player. Played great and that was a ballsy putt to tie on 18. Heck of a run by McCarthy though. Good to see some talented new guys going at it. Bhatia is going to be interesting to watch playing Augusta for sure. Looking forward to that.
