When Grant Hill was in Detroit in 1999-2000 season they went 42-40 after Grant Hill went to Orlando the Pistons finished 2000-2001 with a 32-50 record failing to make the playoffs unlike last year

add to that the celtics jumping from 49-33 (.598) to 48-24 (.667), and after struggles in 2020-21, they went 51-31 (.622), 57-25 (.695), and are currently 54-14 (.794)

Bulls got better in 1994 when Jordan left. If the refs don't screw the Bulls, they beat the Knicks and go on to win the championship. Stern rigged it so they wouldn't win.
Best player could mean the most talented and even excel statistically. But is a poor fit or unable to be the true leader of the team

I know he isn't the player he is today but SGA was also a huge part of that thunder team
well the celtics became twice when kyrie wasn't there. first when he went down with injury, the team went to ECF losing only to lebron in game 7. when he came back the team got worse in terms of performance and toxicity in locker room especially with kyrie, smart and morris trio toxic.
when he left again, the celtics once again went to ECF.
you didn't mention that houston went from the onyl team that can rival a prime GSW to losing in second round and even going 7 game against okc. the westbrick effect.
