After a confrontation following the Conti Cup final, Emma Hayes claimed Jonas Eidevall showed “male aggression” with the Arsenal manager forced to defend himself.

The pair clashed at the end of the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Chelsea at Molineux – retaining their competition title in the process – with Hayes pushing Eidevall during a heated exchange of words.

There also looked to be an incident between Erin Cuthbert and Eidevall on the touchline towards the end of extra-time, with the then-Chelsea captain appearing angered by the Gunners boss.

The Arsenal manager later explained how a disagreement over using a multi-ball or single-ball system had been the root cause, but Hayes was angry with his actions towards her player.

  1. I just saw there is no penalty for her pushing him …how many male managers have been punished ?? favoritism for british managers …

  2. Both parties behaved in a soppy, childish way.
Football is a game played with a degree of aggression.
Both coaches wanted to win and both had rather more invested in the outcome than they could contain.
    This is partly ego.
It is partly deliberately summoned aggression (from both sides) having to find an outlet.
For Hayes to bring sex or gender into it helps nobody.

  3. How embarrassing. This ladies and gentleman is why allowing ladies to coach the men’s game would be a bad idea. How’s she showing aggression yet playing the “I’m a woman” card?

Maybe just leave the men’s game to the men, likewise for the ladies. Everyone is moaning about being included that it’s actually impacting society.

  4. Terribly sexist: I'd be keen to hear her explain the specific characteristics of 'male aggression' as set apart from any other sort of aggression. It is difficult to think, in these times, why this phrase not been considered an outrage; it in no way differs from the type of phrase such as 'female frailty', which is equally sexist and unwelcome.

  5. so one died from heart attack medicine? and the other orrible cont shoulda got some equal lefts

  6. male aggression all saw was you acting aggressive …did he push slap get in someone face i understand when you lose one can get upset but pointing the finger when you have demonstrated your lack of control isn't a good look people

  7. Just want any journalist to Ask why she feels the need to specifically use "Male" aggression. Interesting to know what she thought. Seems intentional and a little malicious.
