Ango Wendy a welcome to the t uh thank you thank you very much kamadi I am happy to be here at Uganda Golf Club it’s been a perfect year for us and um we just we’ve just ended our one year in office and I can’t thank God enough it
Has been very successful and uh of course uh we’re celebrating the ladies it’s the month of women’s the women’s month we’re celebrating the ladies and we’re appreciating the men for supporting us and making us no not for being ladies for supporting us yes and uh always uh being there for us so for
Me me today has even been a better success because we’ve registered over 200 players at Uganda Golf Club who came to play from different clubs to support me in the lady captains prize 2024 and what that’s what I wanted to talk about before we even get to you know uh your
Second term in office I wanted to ask you um the difference between the previous tournaments and this particular one why why so special what makes it so special this time around um you know every year we aspire to get better every day we aspire to get better so last year
Was good we enjoyed now this year we’re bringing the experience our sponsors have come on board with a new Avenue to everything it’s now a partnership so they come they partner with us the ladies section at Uganda golf club and then they bring the experience we feel
Their brand they come and enjoy golf with us we feel their brand we for instance uh there’s so much Vibe around it and it attracts even more golfers now they give us the price prizes we have very nice prizes if you played well to the winners you get nice prizes and you
Meet so many different people because right now I must say almost all clubs in Uganda have been represented now there are people who have played 36 Halles they’ve been calling me since Monday they’re like Wendy we want to play this other course but again we want to play
Your your tournament so we had over 220 who registered to play by Monday this week the link was already closed the link couldn’t take more than that so today the course was full we had two T’s some T from Hall number one other St off from Hall number 10 and we’re still

Does it make you feel but I also wanted you to tell us about your executive a few changes here and there yeah uh well first of all I want to thank and appreciate the lady the ladies ugc has the biggest number of Lady golfers in Uganda so the ladies appreciate what
I’ve done with my committee it has been teamwork I’m just the one standing in front of the cameras Mak but I have a team that has been very awesome they’re very hardworking and dedicated uh you know these positions are voluntary so when they reelect you in office that
Says a lot they give you another ter of office and there was no one who stood against me because they thought Wendy unanimously we want you still here for one year so that you can finish all the projects you had started on and then you
Can hand over so for me I thank them for reelecting me I love serving it has been an experience we’ve learned a lot and from our learnings last year we hope to make all the tournaments this year better from the Vibe on the Friday ladies night and all these other
Tournaments that are coming on and we thank the sponsors for always coming on board to partner with us because without the sponsors it’s very difficult to manage a tournament of this magnitude and uh also we thank you for letting the people know what golf is you know and
Through your broadcast many have called us and they’re like wow we saw you on NBA Sport and uh I’m interested in this game because many people there are people who don’t know about golf they think it’s for a certain category of people so they’re bringing their
Children and we thank you so this year we hope to play more tournaments as the ladies and the ladies section we hope to engage with more sponsors and we are very happy that now we we were not approaching sponsors they’re actually approaching us and saying we want to
Partner with you meaning that there’s something good that we are doing there’s a way in which we relate with their brands there’s a way in which we are putting out their brands and ass ating with their brands and even using their products or services that makes them feel comfortable partnering with us now

Inclusion and the evolving and involvement of uh ladies in go and the numbers coming in is it improving where do you see it going in the next few years I must say last year 2023 we had also a very big number of new lady golfers last year we had the
Biggest cohort of ladies on our range we had a big team of about 38 ladies from MTN just one company that was like the biggest and out of that we had uh about 50 who joined corporate and then 18 plus who joined as individuals so we had a
Total of 38 30 something close to 40 number of new golfers now that is a plus now leave alone the Juniors who have come in and then the students because we have programs for that and this year our whole aim is to have more ladies come
And there are some already on the Range and their golfers are inviting their friends they’re bringing their family on board and uh like I said on when they you’ve made golf look so easy and likable yeah people are watching golf on NBA Sport and they’re like that must be
A game that I can play now when they see some of us they know that oh I was with so so if she can play then I can play which is a good thing so the exposure of the sport those days was minimal but now
It it’s big and I can say it’s a plus for us so this year one of the a uh our focus is to engage more youth more kids and women the corporates and even those who are not corporates anybody can come and play this sport you
Need to have time you need to have interest we’ll give you some free lessons we’ll take you through the game and uh once you’re hooked on golf it’s like an addiction you will not spend a week without playing this game and finally Wendy before we let you go a
Message because it’s women month that’s your camera look at it a message to the girls the young girls the women the upcoming lady golfers um that you can give them a positive word this women’s day um all right uh to all the ladies to all the girls to the mothers the sisters
