J Frank Golf Academy YouTube Hello golfers Jess Frank coming to you from the beautiful Deer Creek Golf Club here at the Jess Frank Golf Academy YouTube channel and today how to get insanely good at golf fast and the couple things I’m going to show you today is going to help you immediately

Get to take it to the course and hit better shots so the first thing that I always talk about is we have to do our weight forward as I’m hitting a shot my weight has to move forward through the shot that’s a crucial component of hitting solid golf shots the reason why

You want to move your weight forward is because that helps you move the low point forward and hit the ball solid that’s huge to hitting good shots so I’ll go ahead and hit one here and I’m going to feel my weight move forward really solid again nice little golf shot there little

Draw so again I don’t hit a lot of balls I don’t practice a lot but I use the fundamentals to get my game in shape so it’s easy that way I don’t have to think so much I just do the things that help and work immediately so you know weight

Forward is definitely number one number two is I want to have good arm structure arm structure is crucial to hitting great shots I always will talk about right arm is going to have your elbow pocket facing the camera right palm um towards the camera I have

The grip in my fingers so now I have my right arm underneath my left my handles forward at a dress I’m feeling about 60% of my weight on my left leg okay so now when I go back I’m maintaining my inclination To The Ground by tilting my

Left shoulder to the ground moving my weight forward and now I can hit the ground with the handle forward which helped me keep the face closed and hit that draw so again I’m going to go weight forward I’m going to feel my shoulder down you can see how my

Shoulders are turning in a circle I’m not I’m not trying to help the ball in the air that’s the thing that really ruins a lot of golfers is that they’re trying to help the ball in the air you don’t want to ever help the ball in the

Air helping the ball in the air will only make you hit behind it hit it off the toe just super inconsistent golf so if you keep your inclination to the ground keep your weight moving forward you’re going to hit a lot of good shots so that’s what I would want

To do for for if I’m going to play golf if I want to make it really simple that’s what I’m doing keeping my arm structure keeping my weight forward and keeping my inclination to the ground I’m going to be able to hit good shots every time so that is something that is hugely

Important so the other part to that is when I have the face you can see the face the toe of the club here I’ll talk about this often is closed to the shaft so when you have the toe of the club closed to the shaft what you have is

What’s called the built-in draw so you don’t need to roll your hands this is no good for the game of golf so you can see my hands go back my club head goes forward my arms Bend and I’ll see this constantly this kind of look of the arms

Flexing handle going back and the the issue to that is that my path will start to go to the left and we don’t want that because you know what that means if your path is going to the left your face is usually going to be a little bit open to

The path and you’re going to slice it those are weak shots we don’t want to ever hit weak shots so again get my arm structure get my weight set up keep my inclination into the ground and you can see when I finish here that as I move

Forward my arms are straight my elbows are together now this is huge and you can see this from the face on version my elbows are together so many times I’ll see people with their elbows flexed weight is back you Flex forward and so that’s the way to hit it the lowest and the

Shortest so it’s arm weights back elbows flexed you can see my my body’s flexed down my weight’s on my back foot that is what I see mostly here at the golf course and why a lot of people come see me for lessons and complain about inconsistencies because that’s what’s

Going on because a lot of times they’re trying to help the ball up in the air by trying to flick their hands around and that’s no good we don’t want that at all so so again here’s a checkpoint for you so here’s my good arm structure right arm underneath the left

Handles a little forward weights on my left leg okay and then don’t and don’t understand don’t misunderstand me because I get this uh I’ve gotten this a few times that people will say well if your weight’s on your left leg then you’re just going here and

That’s not what you want at all you want to have the weights on the left leg but you’re you’re definitely allowing your body to turn in a circle right so hips are moving knees are moving arms are moving around your body and then when I finish over here you can see I’ve

Completely unweighted my back foot so I have my weight kind of on the inside of my right toe my arms are straight I’ve tucked my hips my elbows are together and I could hold this position forever most people would be very it would benefit a lot of golfers to just hold

This position and then go back rehearse it and hold this position that’s about as solid as I can hit it you really can’t hit it any better than that so that is crucial to hitting great shots so what i’ would like to do again one more

Time and that was really solid out of the center of the face just kind of review it real quick so again we’re going to get a really good arm structure we’re going to have the weight on the left handles forward maintain the inclination to the ground and every every single time I’m

Hitting a draw and you can see here when I finish again I’ve unweighted my back foot no weight back there elbows are together hips are tucked underneath me I’m still maintaining my inclination to the ground so I haven’t come out of my basic my right tilt here and I could

Hold this position forever and again that’s something that I would love to see you do so I’m going to have you come around the backside here we’re going to we’re going to look down the line and we’ll go from there there so now we’re in the down the line camera position and

How to get insanely good at golf fast is our goal want to keep it simple do the basic fundamentals and that’s going to help you again so when I set up to the ball I’m going to have a really good arm structure okay so my right arm elbow

Pocket facing away from me take my right hand now you can see from down the line that my right shoulders back my right arms underneath my left face is closed to the sh sh okay my weight is slightly on my left leg handles forward and then

I’m going to be able to go through the ball with my arm straight I can’t hit it any better than that you can see I’ve unweighted my back foot so my back foot my trail foot the weight’s kind of on the inside of my big

Toe okay you can see the back of my shoe okay I’ve extended my legs I’ve tucked my hips underneath me my elbows are close together you don’t see any of this backwards motion with the chicken wing or that left arm pulling apart and staying down we do not want

That at all so try that again so again set up to it get your nice structure your hands and arms right arm underneath the left face Clos the shaft weight forward okay can’t hit it any better than that really solid again I can hold my finish here

I’m in I’m keeping my inclination to the ground my elbows are close together my face is still closed to the shaft you can see it above my head here my hands have traced The Arc so lots of good things again unweighted my back foot so

I know that’s going to be able to help your game I promise you do that you’re going to get insanely good at golf fast it’s going to help your game you’re going to have more fun on the course and I’ll see you soon thank you so much for

  1. I have been practicing indoors with my new divot board. I can see improvement on my low point. I can’t wait for the weather to improve here in the North West, so I can see how it works outside.

  2. Your instruction is gold. Thanks Jess. One thing i have added to my game is taking my backswing back more slowly. This is combinstion with your teaching has brought my strokes down by four so far on average and increased mydriver distance from 180m to 205m.

  3. Great tips! I noticed your right foot is slightly back like the bowler drill. Do you keep your shoulders and hips square or are they inline with your feet? Thank you.

  4. Good session Jess. Note you have a significant left foot flair and a slightly closed address position and appear to be rotating around your left hip to stay centered. Have I got this rotation correct? Stay well-Russ

  5. Jess, thank you for explaining the left foot forward weight. I was doing it a bit the wrong way where i was bending down into my left foot to keep the weight there, which restricted my swing. the clarification has helped a lot to push the weight forward the proper way.

  6. Hi Jess would my ball flight be affected by this forward leaning on the front foot, today I made the mistake of forward leaning my shaft and solid contact but low ball flight is it because I'm not turning my shoulders? I'd like a high ball flight so I will try again tomorrow morning and watch this video again. You do make it look so simple, I'm 72 years old but love the game and a 10 handicap from the blue tee and the i very seldom find trouble but I do have a good short game chipping and putting. Anyway any tips that you can give me is very much appreciated thanks Harvey from British Columbia in Canada

  7. Jess, Am I wrong in thinking from the top of the backswing you start down sliding your hips as you tilt to your right shoulder going into the ball? Thanks

  8. Just discovered your channel and I love your explanations. I’m new to S&T about a month now but it is already helping my game a lot. After 30 years of struggling to play consistently good golf with the conventional swing style shooting 85 one round and 95 the next, or occasionally even 100 (although a lot of that is poor putting), and getting so mad I threatened to quit altogether, I watched a few of Tom Saguto videos about a month ago and went to the range and tried this system out and after incorporating most of the fundamentals (still like the power and flow of a release of the hands just after impact and not locked wrists all the way through the follow through) I am hitting the ball so much more consistently and have two back to back rounds under 90 with my mishits being a lot less punishing than before and my up and down average has skyrocketed. If I could just eliminate those five or six three putts every round I’d be back down in the mid 80’s. And if I could start consistently holing more putts under 5’ and make more birdies I’d be breaking 80. Anyway, I am beginning to feel confidence in my swing again because I am striking the ball so much more consistently by incorporating the 10 words of S&T. Tom is a hoot and fun to watch and is a fellow musician and guitarist and is a great ball stronger but I really like your presentation. Thank you and rock on.

  9. Insane is correct in the tittle but what’s insane is how difficult it is to ever be good at golf, Mr Frank must live in his own bubble if he thinks it’s easy to be good at golf….if it was we would all be pros, or scratch markers or club champions …that’s not how it is Mr Frank. Most people are 15-36 handicappers…average golfers to hackers….you need to get out more fella.

  10. That was excellent advice and you both explained the technical reason for it then gave the visual picture. Very good teaching technique. The only thing left for me to do is get a club in my hand and feel it. Thanks so much. Great tips.

  11. Bunch of crap! Let’s not kid ourselves.
It takes many years to become proficient at this game. I can tell by your swing how many years, and how many buckets you’ve put in. Anybody promoting a quick easy path is full of shit!

  12. Hi Jess, thanks for a great video. Do you mean weight forward as one of the S&T principles PLUS weight forward in the backswing (like push weight forward)?

  13. Humble suggestion: please consider swapping left/right with front/back when describing the swing mechanics so we southpaws don't have a brain aneurysm when trying to follow along. Appreciate your content!

  14. Jess I had a Jess in my family only one I’ve ever known of! Lol great lesson I went to ST about 2 years ago you and Tom S are my favorite at 60 and avid golfer for 30 years I am playing better than ever no pain swinging easy on the back! Still can enjoy a 70 something round sometimes! Thank you for your instruction!
