Hi I’m Matt Lockey, welcome to my Coach Lockey YouTube Channel. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, and to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf course vlogs, golf challenges, golf tips, golf lessons, golf club reviews and the odd golf club unboxing. So pretty much everything golf!
I want to help you play better golf by providing coaching videos on all topics about golf. How to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
As well as helping you produce the best long game you can have, I will help you lower your scores by chipping better, stopping duff and thin chips, pitching the ball closer and creating backspin like the tour pros. Finally, I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts too!

The number one mistake I see with amateur golf is amate golfers thinking that there’s an answer there is an answer out there for the perfect gol swing there is a way that I can create perfect ball then Turf contct I want you to hit the like button or comment in the
Comment section down below if you own a training aid come on comment down below or hit the like button if you own training AIDS and do you use them or are they now sat in the corner of your office or in your garage collecting dust well in today’s golf lesson we’re
Going to be using a training aid and giving you five simple golf tips that you can do with this training aid to help you improve your golf it’s these things alignment sticks T sticks whatever you want to call them how many people own tour sticks they are popping
Out of golf bags all around the world now and I’m going to give you five simple golf swing drills to help you use these things properly which will hopefully help your golf too let’s get straight into it now each one of these simple golf swing drills is going to
Affect a different part of the swing or affect impact in a slightly different way what’s the biggest key in golf to consistency better ball striking lowering your scores strike you need two alignment sticks for this one and I want you to put one either side of the golf ball now
Try and have kind of six in of the sticks after the golf ball roughly you don’t want all of the stick Target side you only want about 6 in or so after the golf ball and you can make this as tough or as easy as you like depending on what
Iron I’m hitting I like to go slightly wider than it the object of this simple golf drill to get strike out the middle of the face set yourself up like you normally do swing like you normally do and see what happens do you hit any of
The Tor sticks or do you hit just the golf ball oh no I’ve nudged the inside stick and that is my common gol swing mistake I tow the ball so often and if I start Towing the ball my club’s going to start moving towards that stick that’s closest
To me and if I do it I’m going to hit that stick and I know where I’m going to start striking it it’s going to be off this part of the face now if I go the opposite way and I start to heal the golf ball as my pattern you’re going to
Start striking the outside Tor stick this simple golf drill is going to help you understand your patterns of strike do you hit the toe more often do you hit the heel more often or do you find the middle well let’s hope it’s a middle and popping these sticks down is really
Going to help you focus on where you’re hitting that ball on the face oh I H it again I need to make it a bit simpler and widen those tors sticks a little bit simple golf drill number two you need two linan sticks again and I
Want you to have them about a club width away from the golf ball inside the golf ball and around 20° roughly from your target line and this is going to help you understand club path and how setting yourself up slightly different might be affecting your path check this out I’ve
Got a seven iron in my hands I put my ball position in the middle and relatively speaking if I start to go and hit this golf shot now my club path is one into out so pretty much straight now if I set myself up and I put my ball position back a
Little bit now I’m going to be hitting the ball earlier in my Ark which will influence my path and probably make me swing more into out that one is now four into to out and if I do the opposite put the ball in the similar position start putting my ball
Position forward now and hit one I’m now 2.4 out to in look how these sticks are influencing my path my ball position influences it I start to hit along this stick more you can set up normally and start to work out right if I swing Along
This stick get my club matching up with it I’m probably going to swing into to out if I start matching my club up to that one I’m going to start moving my path out to in I move ball position I move my path I see different ball
Flights simple golf tip to help you understand your path more simple golf tip number three three two alignment sticks again and this is one of the biggest go ring mistakes I see with amateurs and it’s simple setup Basics struggling with things like alignment one stick goes in front of your golf
Ball along the target line and then I want another stick along your feet line parallel to that Target line and this is just going to make you aware of Club face alignment feet alignment and you can also add in knee alignment shoulder alignment to see if you’re pointing
Along your target line little side note for this one if you’re a slicer of the golf ball you need to start your ball left if you’re a drawer of the golf ball you need to start your ball down the right so you need to start adjusting your start Direction and your linen so
If you are a slicer a fader of the golf ball I want you not only to point your alignment your body alignment down the left but I also want you to move this ball start Direction Tor stick down the left two so you marry them both up what
We tend to see when people struggle with slices and things like that is that people aim down the left but they just move their body alignment and then they leave their face pointing down the target line which means your path is going to be more extreme to the left but
Your face is going to be even more open increasing that curvature so make sure you’re getting both body alignment and face alignment depending on what shot shape you hit correct simple golf drill number four now two alignment sticks again and I want one of them under your
Trail foot around 45 degrees of your target line so there’s my target line this one’s at 45 degrees from my target line Second tall stick goes in your belt buckles so I’ve had to take my belt off of this one so hopefully my trousers don’t fall down but I’ve popped this in
My front two belt loops and what I want you to do is set yourself up with that stick under your Trail foot again at 45 degrees it doesn’t have to be under your Trail foot it just helps because if you want to hit shots and don’t have it
Under your Trail foot is that the stick gets very close to where that club’s going to go so I like just to pop it under my trail foot at 45 degrees to my target line and then what we’re going to do is marry up the sticks on the floor
And in my belt hoops this is going to help get some more hip turn on the way back rather than sliding which lots of amateur do slide back stay back here fats and thins this is really going to help get those hips turning maybe increase your back swing turn maybe
Allowing you to swing a bit faster hit the ball a bit further it’s a great way to check if you’re turning properly marid those sticks up even go a little bit further if you can really get some turns going on simple way to use your tool sticks to help you understand your
Turns simple golf drill number five and the final one you only need one t stick for this one and I want you to put it right in between the middle of your stance I’ve got a seven iron here so if you’re using a seven iron it will be
Slightly different if you’re doing this with dry D or wood it’ll be nudging a little further forward directly in the middle of my stance and that ball what I want you to do is set yourself up and use this as a guide what do we see in most amateurs go swings mistakes to
Slide off the golf ball weight stays too far back can’t recover hit fats and thins horrible strikes we want you to start turning more on top of this stick so it’s really an align stick to help you understand where you are in your golf swing stop swearing off of it try
And stay more on top of that stick add that turn drill in as well and you’ll be good to go five simple drills for you to start using your Tor sticks get them out from the corner of your office or in the garage wipe the dust off and start using
Them to improve your golf let me know do you use T sticks do you own t sticks if not are you going to go and get some real simple drills to help you start striking that golf ball better hopefully lowering those scores I’d love to know your comments down below how you use
Your T sticks if there’s any other drills that you use them for let me know in the comments section down below and as always if you’re enjoying the channel make sure you hit that big red subscribe button hit the thumbs up as it helps the

Love a training aid! I have alignment sticks, a Garmin R10, putt out, tour striker club. Why not?
Thanks for the drills, coach!
I used alignment sticks and a swing plate, which also requires alignment sticks, lastly a ball on a lanyard for connection drill
Great video Coach! Glad your trousers stayed up. Didn't want another alignment stick, ball bag incident. 😨
I'm afraid I cannot continue to subscribe hoping that the vlogs come back. Sick of the swing tip videos…I am genuinely disappointed, you and Mark are the only reason I got into youtube! I wish you and your channel the best but after a good ten years of watching you both I think I can see where the channels are heading and it isn't back to vlogs. Good luck and so long 🙂
Great drills Coach!! Feel like I'm improving!! Can't wait to take it to the course!! Cheers!
love the drills, I do have sticks and they do have dust on them, I will go and clean them right now.😄
Fanrtastic golf drills, Coach. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Got tour sticks going to implement these drills cheers
Great teaching tips, there are many training aids but few people show the average golfer how to use them, keep up with these instructional videos, much better than seeing other people hitting golf balls on a course, personally I wish to learn to play better golf, alignment sticks more ways to use, perfect.
No training aids other than my alignment sticks!
