We were talking earlier on about deser going in against Liverpool Brighton at the weekend and before he did he said maybe the owners and I need to talk maybe I need to have a chat with Tony Bloom and that you would think alludes to where is the ambition are they as

Ambitious as me uh that’s a kind of theme of what he was saying and now we hear that deser is maybe not at the top of but is one of those being considered by Bayern Munich but would you have a a warning sign in your mind by what

Deserie said pre anfield at the weekend regards Brighton Tony Bloom and Paul barar um I think one thing that we can it’s guaranteed at Brighton is Paul Barber and Tiny Bloom will have derer have a list of who’s going to replace derer when it comes that’s what they

Were have one that’s for sure they’re ready for his depart ready no I’m not saying that they’re ready for him to depart but when that time comes yeah um as soon as they were doing well in the League last year qualify for Europe they’ll know that someone’s going to

Come for him so they’ll have that person lined up or two or three to go and speak to theer it looks like and it feels like with what happens in football the manager does well power comes with them so I always think when you when a

Manager joins you if it’s in the summer you’re all on the same page for that transfer window you all be on the same paage for the January transer window if at the end of that season there’s a promotion or a um qualify for Europe like Brighton or you keeper team in the

Premier League which is a wonderful job suddenly their ego changes they want to come off the page of where we are because they feel that they’ve done well and the power can be with them you wonder are deser comments a little bit of that I saider you know back in your

Box you know look what I’ve done for you come on I want to I’ll now decide who we sign and I’m going have more of an input and I you know I know Paul B you know to say hello and doubt with him he’s a lovely guy top operator I don’t know the

Only Tony Bloom but from what I’m see I think there’ll be one winner and that that winner could be no this is how we work and they’re going to stick to it because that’s why they’ve run so well or someone will come and take him a Chelsea or Liverpool thing and they’ll

Go and get a massive compensation again so you know the way they run it there is is is really really really well it hasn’t been like that since they’ve been in there which I think some people think it has been you know I was looking at you know some of the league

Tables uh not so long ago um and we look at what where Brighton have come from yeah you know unbelievable you know I think it was only four or five years ago Kiff got rated yeah um finished third from bottom and Brighton were only three points above them yeah you know so and

Now you look at the differ that’s how it can be but that’s planning that’s having things in place not coming off the page yeah I suppose from your point of view sporting director technical director working for a club like Brighton would be the perfect job yeah because because you

Know there’s no you know exactly what you’re going into they take the emotion out of it Jim yes this game’s an emotion as emotional as it is I had an ex goalie contact me the other day who’s been doing a bit of working on league and he

Said where would you go to work in you know coaching loans manager Brighton says the only Club I’d want to go to go and be the loans manager at Brighton and work your way up because I think that club as they keep losing so many top people you could Ascend very quickly

Yeah you can move up with lad because they like you say people come and you know Chelsea as I mentioned earlier Todd B should have bought Brighton you know instead of buying Chelsea because he wants to go and take people from there but that’s right you know they they run

They’re not the only Club there’s many clubs like that there’s brenford that are Simon obviously both owners come from a similar backgrounds but then you know there’s other clubs GM that you know palace look at Crystal Palace they got they beat watford’s in 2012 13 in the playoff final they’ve been in the

Premier League ever since sure thing they’ve now got three when everyone’s fit they’ve got three regular players in an England squ brilliant What douy Freeman’s done there is phenomenal phenomenal looke if you end up sporting director or whatever the the the title a club like Everton for example and we

Know what’s been going on there I used to speak to him a lot hardly speak to him at all now farad masiri but do you envisage your time there in your role that you would have to say to masiri no because of ffp we absolutely bang up

Against it so you can’t yeah can you tell an owner that no you just can’t I don’t um I feel a little bit yeah I feel a little bit for the owner of Everton and the re and Everton fans listen might not agree with this but when an owner

Isn’t present and when I say present there day in day out like M he probably isn’t he’s got sporting director he’s going to have a manager I need just one more he’s got um Representatives that might be advised him just do one more ultimately at the club clubs I’ve worked

At and darl tell me if pet BR is the same the owner doesn’t go and sign on the dotted line sign off on the paperwork so these football clubs have CEOs they have Financial directors that know where they are on ffp yeah now don’t get me wrong the people at Everton

Might be Santio we can’t do it and he says I tough we’re doing it okay but ultimately I do think owners do come in for some unfair stick because they are just be seen to support the manager go and sign this player ultimately they don’t sign the paperwork you say that

Luke but if mashiri had said to you no I’m pressing on and I’m going to bring Rafa Bonitas to Everton would you have said why you go then or would you have said I don’t think it’s a good idea I wouldn’t have said I wouldn’t have thought it’s a good idea because I’ve

Had my own opinions but I think it goes back to what we spoke at the beginning of the show you’ve got to tell the owner what you feel how it’s going to work and what the repercussions brutally honest you got to be honest you know you got you’re going to

Kill yourself Denis like do do not make this decision you know there a sporting director that I know or I didn’t on the others they don’t go and sign the paperwork you can bring the player to the table the agent this is the deal and

It gets okay it’ll be the CEO that signs off the paperwork and he have a look for it the FD will have a look for it to make sure we can afford the payments on time Etc now you’ve got to that you are in a role to advise owners if it’s an

Everon situation you’ve got to advise them you know think and you you advis in that instance would be Bonitas no don’t do it we can’t do it you can’t do it I think it was wasn’t it refreshing to see what wolves did did in Jan to say we

Can’t do it because we’re not going to have a points deduction just tell the truth be honests might not like it but in they respect course I will in the 30 seconds we have left and I want to do this you’ve been so impressive where is next

For you well I’m currently working for a company called finess UK um which a private Equity Investment Bank in with a guy called Dr bch pent who is looking to invest and buy football clubs in England and in Europe we’re currently in deep discussions with three and then we’re

Going to head into Europe and um I’ll be the global sporting director which you know is very exciting fantastic so let’s see what that brings and which clubs we end up but yeah great people there and looking forward to it Global sporting director so you’re turning that title down at petery

United no one wants to replace Barry fry correct good luck good luck in the new moment you will be back with us sooner than later I assure you of that thanks very much thank you so much l Luke ding with us uh for the last hour Luke Luke

Was in here for half an hour we thought no no no we’re not letting this ago uh D you’re back in Thursday with me Thursday Friday as I understand it tomorrow you’re trip my Fe so I’m back yes little Cosmic cocktail of Martin anneal and uh Danny Murphy of course it being a

Wednesday we’re coming up to one on am on da via the talk sport app and on your smart speaker talk sport

  1. As a Liverpool fan, I 100% do not want Roberto. Congrats on the job he has done, but he is not a Klopp or Pep. It is not likely, probably impossible, but I'd rather have somebody like Zidane. Thomas Frank maybe. The top clubs all have hard task masters, but also have men in charge that like to keep the dressing room united, friendly and family orientated. Roberto comes across as a Jose.

  2. Too many think success at Brighton is all about them, they neglect to recognise the brilliance of the Brighton environment they've landed in.

  3. I would prefer a more likable manager like Thomas Frank over Roberto De Zerbi. Frank has over performed with the club he is at for years now and his team is very similar to how Klopp was back at Mainz.
De Zerbi is a good manager but I am too concerned about how unprofessional he is in interviews and on the side line.

  4. Brighton fan and I’m already not going to be gutted when he leaves. He has started complaining a lot and I’m already ready for someone new.

  5. Being a Liverpool fan for nearly 40 years , if that clown lands in i think i will be a ex fan he is the last manager Liverpool should be looking at his ego after finishing 6th is a joke

  6. de zerbi is right. As a brighton fan we dont want keep being a selling club as how are we ever going to have a history and win things. he just wants us to progress

  7. LFC need a manager of UCL pedigree, presently. A long standing manager is down the road. So Zidane or Anchelotti (should he leave Real Madrid).

  8. So refreshing hearing from the guy with Sporting Director experience. Hope Talksport do more of these experts punditry. I know they also brought the Financial Expert who talked about Chelsea being in the dogs in FFP.

    Long may it continue.

  9. What is the gripe with a sense of ambition in a manager? I see why they rather prefer mediocres like Potter in the media space

  10. As a Brighton fan, De Zerbi is no way near good enough for Liverpool. TBH anyone who goes to Liverpool after Klopp is going to be a failure. Utd still looking for their replacement after Fergie 10 yrs later
