Not happy that Guhle is gone. He is a very big part of our win streak and leadership. He's gonna be a tough loss tonight on and off the ice. Not what we need when we're facing a cup contender. When your leading in Hockey you don't pay a gritty game. Your opponent does. You can say he's just responding but this is not the right way at all
I'm not condoning what Guhle did but….Konecny had hit Guhle a few feet from the boards into the boards, Konecny hit Slaf who retaliated a bit then Konecny was going after Slaf as he skated away…Guhle had enough of Konecny and sent him a message. I wouldn't say he lost his mind but should have got him on the ice on not from the bench. What gets me is two officials standing right there missed it, the missed a Flyer infraction a few seconds before their goal, missed an offside before a challenged called back goal (it was close so excusable), missed a kick in that had to be challenged and more. Officials miss a lot, call "light" penalties, while other things that should be penalties are not according to NHL standards and player safety, officials completely ignore some infractions that they do see. Konecny wraps his arm around Slaf (hold) after Slaf sort of reverse hits him, Slaf sort of roughs him in the process. Maybe if penalties were called right there Guhle doesn't give Konecny a poke on the way by. Maybe that would have been light calls but, players tying a player up after a hit, holding them down on the ice sometimes cross checking them while they're down on the ice while the play has left the zone rarely gets called. Some rules are soft calls while more severe things are not infractions then we wonder why nonsense happens…
So considering that the NHL board and officiating is pretty much a joke, I find this incident rather funny.
