BEST. YOU CAN’T WIN THEM ALL. HERE’S SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER. >> I DIDN’T THINK IT WAS GOING TO MOVE VERY MUCH. I TRIED TO HIT IT STRAIGHT. AND I FELT LIKE I STARTED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. AND LOOKED LIKE IT BROKE OFF PRETTY HARD. SO JUST A MISREAD, SADLY.
>> OVERALL I KNOW THAT’S NOT THE RESULT YOU WANTED IN THE END. WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS COMING OUT AFTER TODAY? >> YEAH-I PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT. I HAD SOME WEIRD BREAKS THIS WEEK. THAT’S KIND OF THE THING, IS IT’S TOUGH TO DESCRIBE. I’M OBVIOUSLY A BIT DISAPPOINTED.
I HIT TWO OR THREE REALLY GOOD SHOTS ON THE 18 TO GIVE MYSELF A CHANCE. AND I FELT LIKE I MADE THE PUTT AND THEN I LOOKED UP AND IT WAS BREAKING OFF. SO A BIT DISAPPOINTING. BUT STEPHAN PLAYED GREAT THIS WEEK. YEAH, HE’S A DESERVING CHAMPION.
>> WHEN YOU HAVE RESULTS LIKE THIS AT THE END THERE, DOES IT TAKE YOU A LONG TIME TO GET OVER THAT OR DO YOU PUSH THAT ASIDE AND MOVE ON QUICK? >> I’LL MOVE ON AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. OBVIOUSLY I’M A BIT DISAPPOINTED RIGHT NOW.
BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT WOULD BE ONE THING IF I PULLED IT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I JUST MISREAD IT. I DON’T KNOW WHY I MISREAD IT. BUT IT HAPPENS. IT’S PART OF THE GAME. MAYBE I COULD HAVE HIT IT WITH SOME MORE SPEED.
BUT I FELT LIKE I HIT A NICE PUTT. KIND OF HOW I WANTED TO. JUST DIDN’T GO IN. >> AS BRANDEL SAID IN THE TELECAST, HE WILL LIKELY RUE THE 22-INCH PUTT THAT HE MISSED ON FRIDAY, MAKING DOUBLE BOGEY ON THE FINAL HOLE.
BUT ON THE WHOLE, TRIPP, HOW WOULD YOU ASSESS SCOTTIE’S WEEK? >> C-MINUS IS THE WAY I WOULD GIVE IT. HE’S GOT A LITTLE BIT OF WORK TO DO. BUT THE AREAS OF THE GAME THAT ARE USUALLY SOLID CONTINUE TO BE, RICH. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT A COUPLE OF
THINGS HE DID WELL. HE REALLY PITCHED AND CHIPPED THE BALL WELL. YOU’RE GOING TO NEED THAT THE NEXT TIME HE PLAYS WHEN HE DRIVES DOWN MAGNOLIA LANE, HE’S GOING TO NEED THIS KIND OF PITCHING AND CHIPPING. HE HAD THAT. HERE HE IS IN THE FIRST ROUND.
THAT’S A TAP-IN. THAT’S IN PLACE. HOW ABOUT THE BUNKER GAME? THAT’S PART OF THE SHORT GAME. HERE HE IS AT THE 18th. HE LIKES TO HIT IT UP THERE THAT CLOSE ON FRIDAY, BUT THAT’S A TAP-IN FOR PAR ON 18. BUNKER GAME’S GOOD. CHIPPING GAME’S GOOD.
THE ONLY THING WE DIDN’T DO IN ROUND NUMBER ONE, WE CHIPPED IT CLOSE ALL DAY, GOT IT UP AND DOWN 7 OF 7 TIMES. WE DID NOT CHIP IT IN. ALTHOUGH WE WERE CLOSE. SO HERE WE ARE ON THE 4th HOLE ON FRIDAY, AND WE TOOK CARE OF
THE CHIP-IN. WE SAW I ACHIP-IN AT BAY HILL, SAW A CHIP-IN AT PLAYERS. WE THOUGHT OKAY, WE’RE ON OUR WAY TO THREE IN A ROW. IRON GAME, BEAUTIFUL. I KNOW HE HIT SOME IRON SHOTS THAT ENDED UP IN BAD SPOTS. THIS FROM 155 YARDS. STUFFS IT IN THERE.
JUST BEAUTIFUL SHOT. AFTER A MISSTEP AT 15. WHICH WASN’T REALLY A MISSTEP. HE HIT A GREAT SHOT THAT ENDED UP IN THE WATER. HE MADE A DOUBLE. THAT WAS THE STORY THIS WEEK. THIS WAS ALSO THE STORY OF THE WEEK. THESE ARE THE THINGS HE’S GOT TO CLEAN UP.
SEVEN FEET FOUR INCHES. MISSED. WAS HE MISREADING THEM? THAT LOOKED LIKE I A MISREAD TO ME. THERE WERE TIMES ON 18. ANOTHER 7 1/2-FOOTER. HE MISSED. THESE PUTTS HE WAS HITTING WHERE HE WANTED. THAT ONE HE WILL RUE. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT. HE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THAT ONE OVER.
BUT SCOTTIE DOES LET THINGS ROLL OFF HIS BACK. SO YOU THOUGHT OKAY, TODAY HE GAVE HIMSELF A NUMBER OF CHANCES. THIS FOR PAR AT 15. IF IT WERE TWO HOLES THAT LET HIM DOWN, 15 AND 18. THAT BOGEY. AND THEN HERE HE SAID HE THOUGHT
IN THE MIDDLE — YOU KNOW, STEPHAN JAEGER SAW IT OUT TO THE RIGHT. HIS PUTT WAS ON A SIMILAR LIE. AND HE MISSED IT TO THE RIGHT. IT WAS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING YOU COULD SEE. BUT HE SAID HE HIT THE PUTT WHERE HE WANTED. BUT FIVE TO TEN FEET, RICH.
THIS IS THE DENOMINATOR FOR SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER. SO GOES SCOTTIE FROM FIVE TO TEN FEET, SO GO WHETHER HE HOLDS A TROPHY OR NOT. THIS SEASON HE’S AVERAGING 55.8%. THAT’S 94th. THIS WEEK HE WAS 53%. SO HE WAS BELOW HIS SEASON AVERAGE AND HE WAS TIED FOR 50th
IN THE FIELD THIS WEEK FROM FIVE TO TEN FEET. BUT LOOK AT THE YELLOW THERE. THOSE ARE THE ONLY TIMES HE WAS BETTER THAN NOT ONLY HIS SEASON AVERAGE BUT THE TOUR AVERAGE. THE TOUR AVERAGE IS 56.5%. WHEN HE WAS BETTER IN HIS SEASON AND THE TOUR AVERAGE, HE HAD TWO
TROPHIES. HOW DO YOU WORK ON FIVE TO TEN-FOOTERS? WELL, OBVIOUSLY HE’S GOT TO WORK ON HIS GREEN READING. GOOD NEWS FOR HIM, AUGUSTA NATIONAL HE’S BEEN AROUND SO MANY TIMES, HE’S GOT A GREEN JACKET, MEANS HE KNOWS HOW TO READ THE GREENS THERE.
IF HE’S HITTING THEM WHERE HE WANTS, THAT’S GREAT. THE ONLY WAY TO GET BETTER FROM FIVE TO TEN FEET IS SIMPLY SPEND TIME, AND PROS ARE GREAT AT THIS, THEY GO ABOUT DOING DRILLS. I GUARANTEE YOU THIS NEXT WEEK WHEN HE DOES PRACTICE HE WILL BE
DOING DRILLS OR DIFFERENT AREAS WORKING ON THAT FIVE TO TEN-FOOT RANGE. AND PROBABLY WHEN HE GOES AND PLAYS A PRACTICE ROUND, IF HE DOES IT BEFORE HE GETS THERE THIS COMING WEEK, WHICH PLAYERS OFTEN DO, HE’LL PROBABLY HIT A LOT OF FIVE AND TEN-FOOTERS.
DON’T THINK HE’S NOT AWARE OF IT. BUT THE GREAT THING ABOUT SCOTTIE IS HE MAY BE AWARE OF THIS, RICH, BUT WHEN HE PLAYS IT DOES NOT BOTHER HIM OR AFFECT HIM. HE’S ABLE TO PUT WHAT HE — OKAY, I MAY NOT BE DOING THAT
GREAT RIGHT NOW, BUT YOU CAN SEE ALSO HOW HE’S PROTECTING HIMSELF. HE SAID I HIT THE PUTT EXACTLY WHERE I WANTED ON 18, I WISH I MIGHT HAVE HIT IT A LITTLE FARTHER BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY IT WASN’T A BAD PUTT.
THAT MEANS HE’S IN A GOOD SPOT MENTALLY GOING TO AUGUST P. AND OVERALL HIS GAME IS PRETTY SOLID IN THE AREAS IT USUALLY IS. >> PROFESSOR ISENHOUR IS ONE TOUGH INSTRUCTOR. THAT IS A C-MINUS FROM TRIPP FOR A TIE FOR SECOND. YOU KNOW IF IT’S A C-MINUS AND A
T-2, STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS ARE EXTREMELY HIGH. AND YOU LOOK AT THE RESULTS THIS YEAR, EIGHT STARTS NOW FOR SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER. HOW ABOUT TWO WINS, FIVE TOP FIVES? SEVEN TOP TENS. HIS WO

He's got to take charge of the tournament! — announcers. Yeah, like you just ride a horse and whip it or something. The dude is playing amazing golf, week in and week out. Jeez.
Guy takes second with a chance to win but he struggled!??
Betting? Rigged? …
those 2 putts…. would've won him the tourny…. jesus 3:00
On the 3-putt, he absolutely rushed the second putt… all golfers do this, some do it often!
This guy is the biggest yipper on Tour. Remember, he four putted to win the Masters! His choking with the short stick will cost him greatness.
