First Derrick’s going to get our match started with the allnew Black Pearl hammer Hunter you have the most reps with this I think Dereck and Matt you guys both these are the very first very first game so they got a little bit of warm up and practice with it I think I

Have four shots on it but we’ll see if the extra time with the ball helps you out or not yeah or will their extra experience in pink SL help them out I don’t know we’ll see let’s see what Derrick’s ball reaction is like here from the start oh

God that’s promising that’s just not good and uh let’s see who threw on Lane 3 oh D that was me Dereck threw on how many of you guys even got a shot on Lane 31 I got one and I missed a head pin yeah I got one definitely was a little

Tight yeah maybe maybe we should give you guys some practice on the lane that we’re bowling on that would probably maybe be fair it interesting so since you’re the only one that’s thrown it a little bit so far you also have a lot of experience with urethane uh quickly cuz

Of success with the purple Hammer um any uh thoughts so far you know like I said you had about maybe 30 minutes of warmup thoughts on so far it shapes like a purple it’s just a little bit weaker like I’m able to play a little straighter with it which is nice cuz I

Rather sometimes the purple forces me too far left than have to open up my angles where this one’s going to allow me to stay right and closer to it yeah yeah we we talked a little bit about that in the comparisons ball review for this that featured Hunter stand fight

And Hunter compared this ball to his purple hammer and an i78 um you guys can check out that ball review that’s a little bit more traditional we dive into the technical stuff uh Derrik did you like that shot off your hand uh no not

Really I got it kind of fire to the left if that would have hooked I would have been all over the Shan ball and those of you that are new to pink slips um the the reason it’s called pink slips is because the low score of this match will lose their bowling ball

Your experience so far you you in the comparisons ball review you compared this to an i78 and a purple Hammer we had some audio issues so tell us a little bit about how you see those three balls in your back at this point yeah I know the 78 years the i78 U is

Definitely a ball when you want to get really straight with it any type of angle with that ball it’s really hard to to get it to go through the pins right way just from a few weeks I’ve thrown this this uh the black hammer it’s really you can really shape it you can

Really kind of get the ball through the pins you can kind of get in definitely looks a lot better um looks better straighter for sure yeah and um we talked a little bit about in the comparisons ball review where sometimes with urethane it forcing you further left like the purple doesn’t

Always necessarily mean better in terms of scores because you’re competing so much do you ever find sometimes that you think you might stay with an i78 and straighter or do you find your preference is to continue to keep getting right and opening it opening it

Up more yeah yeah yeah in the past I’ve drilled purple hammers to allow me to stay straighter um with the 78u I don’t have to I don’t have to make it do that so um so yeah I think the 70 there’s definitely somewhere in the for it for

Dialed in here might be his first pink slip his first loss at least broke up the split there so much though he’s throwing it really slow too to really try and make it curve yeah uh so Derek you also like yourth thinge a lot uh Mattie mentioned that he felt like he

Was automatically going to lose cuz he’s going against two lefties that both love uh urethane um is there an excitement level for you for this ball or is there now so many urethane options that you’re starting to kind of maybe get bored with even a urethane release in the same way

That you might a reactive release you know that that’s a really really good question and I think the the hype for me has definitely died off a little bit um especially after throwing the 78u I expected a little bit more and for me kind of like Hunter said if you try and

Open up your angle whatsoever that ball just does not make it up the corner and it flat sevens every time just has not that much value kind of like I said when I reviewed the ball and L they really really hard and I still stand on that

With that ball this one for me definitely more I think it’s for me so far really close to like a pitch black but if I can throw a pitch black why would I not just throw a pitch black right um and and the answer for viewers

Would be in a PBA event right yeah because the pitch black is is not allowed in the PB Matt’s going to like this one though cuz he can just hit it as hard as he wants and it doesn’t overhook he doesn’t have that option around the back that 78u like we do

Throwing anything this is essentially all he has from that PBA level and like you said the purple hooks too much so this is like the perfect step down from the e right it’s perfect so speaking about the PBA route you and your brother Chris um you guys pull a lot more PBA regionals

Now yes do you find that you’re trying to adapt without a purple Hammer a little bit more are you trying to like kind of readapt your game to not have that in your bag yeah 100% yeah I’ve uh I’ve stopped even throwing any of the

Any my sport leagues i b I know I try to stop thr on a purple Hammer just to get a feel of the 78u in this ball um and it really hasn’t affected scor as much so um definitely definitely relieving a little bit for sure cuz I used to throw

Purple Hammer all the time so um yeah no they’re definitely they definitely got their own spaces for sure do do you find that you know before you had the purple you leaned on that you mentioned sometimes it forced you further right and maybe in in that environment you had

To get used to throwing it harder and harder and harder do you find now with these you know with the iq70 and the black Hammer as you’re trying to adapt you’re actually trying to learn how to throw it a little slower like like we’re seeing right now or where you at in that

Process yeah the 78u I don’t have a problem at all throwing it any faster um I always have a 360 on it so I just uh kind of blasted down the corner um just cuz I’m used to doing it that’s kind of my aame the black uh the black is a

Little different I get to slow down a little bit and move a little bit in so got it um yeah I love I love that answer though to the viewers out there because there’s always this debate around coaching and improving your physical game versus leaning on the pro shop and

The equipment and you can hear from Hunter there that he didn’t naturally start thinking about okay I got to throw it slower I got to throw it slower he’s he’s thinking okay what kind of tools out there can I use so I can throw it the same and and he’s hitting his i78

With a lot more surface um to kind of get it to go where he wants me too I beat surface into that thing hard uh let’s see Hunter’s got to get going here Derek gave him a little bit of an open I did that did not hook at

All pretty good that was pretty good he locked it off his hand it looked like yeah oh God yeah yeah so Derek uh it sound like you didn’t did you miss a little left on that shot or it was a little left but I really wanted it to at least pop a

Little bit to hit the head pin I’m a little surprised it didn’t touch the head pin um mine is getting weaker by the second yeah which is to be expected but for me I bury surface into my urethane balls really really hard anyways right um the thing is going to

Be at 500 maybe even 360 and that’s totally normal right um now Derek do you plan on bowling many PBA events do you feel like you’re also having to kind of get used to not having a purple or for you PBA events aren’t going to be a significant part of your schedule it’s

Not going to be a significant part for I maybe bow two or three a year just between work life home life kid life I just don’t have time for it I got the Masters next week but I can throw the purples anyways right uh the blacks

Coming but I got my my lucky purple I got a green pin purple that is like just the best bowling ball ever made and I’m yet to find despite Dr probably 10 different urethane balls nothing compares to that one that one goes everywhere yeah yeah exactly that’s I

Think that really is the story of urethane at the moment um in bowling anyways normally it’s a very highly contextual thing figuring out what balls to throw how to lay them out it’s it’s always very contextual to begin with but I think a new layer to that uh context

Is actually what environment you plan on bowling in not oil pattern wise but whether it’s PBA or not and also maybe whether it’s a sport pattern heavy or not because you might be able to make an argument for things like the zenu or even the new blue if you’re competing in

A uh house shot heavy environment um you know you might like those ball balls that are a little bit more on the reactive side have you guys thrown anything like that new Blues Zenus anything like that new blue I’ve thrown it quite a bit at Lake View but it’s a

High friction house so it’s pretty good there got a couple threes couple eights with it um you know new blue is definitely more of a house shot ball I think it’s not very good on patterns in my opinion not like the black and the purple would be I

Think the new blue is just too long and it shapes like a little down Ling but I think it’s too long to be good on patterns oh okay it looks like we got our first distraction here Derek is oh my goodness I think Derrick’s also trying to get us kicked out of this

Set oh this is fantastic let’s just hope Hunter does not hit this if he hits his good C W it over it and if he strikes he should get the automatic win let’s see what happens here so this I thought about keeping it on the lane

That would have made it a little harder this uh this could be interesting if he really gets nervous here and clock Bo this thing oh he gets it on here that’s pretty good oh who needs PBA trick shots on TV just got to come to your local pink slips

Those kind of those ones will drive um this next upcoming one at the end of April um we’re going to go to that’s the next one we have so um it’ll be interesting to see all the guys there throwing the new ones so and with the Matthew freaking running this over Matt

Is trying to get it locked up yeah I was going to say hunter if uh you’re trying to put some pressure there what’s your what’s your do you have a plan here all right let’s see what he’s got going here Hunter’s got a distraction plan I will

Say not in a million years that I think I’d have a chance to win this against these two yeah cuz they’re so good with the aane like and I just don’t throw it them unless they’re like impossible double Force the double and I don’t have the r these two

Have it looks like we got a little air horn yeah but you know it looks like you’re trying to get a little softer really trying to make sure it sees that friction early oh my God he saved it I was like two seconds holy Saed it in time you did that wow

Has a distraction left yep uh and so Hunter you can get to 108 here there we go so you still got a chance do you you feeling pretty good about your ball reaction now you feel Prett dialed in yeah 100% okay oh barely barely makes I don’t know

What this thing’s going to do what I it’s the pattern too for sure yeah if we p on something sport this ball would be so good especially if they’re flatter he was saying he definitely likes something like the new blue that’s kind of in between reactive your thinge for house

Are you the same yeah I’ve got I have I drill the new blue as well um I threw it better on house yeah I think on sport um that ball it’s a little Hit or Miss it’s like you got to you got to be really accurate with it it’s really it’s fairly

Clean for as in comparison to Europe things right defitely more like I haven’t thrown it much on house they don’t much on house right cool so it sounds like uh General consensus here Lefty and righty is those bowling balls that are kind of in between reactive in urethane they like

On the house shot as they get harder they like the urethane right if if it’s a harder pattern that you can create some area probably a harder pattern that maybe hooks more and you can create area actually bending it they like maybe like a purple Hammer if it’s not PBA and then

Uh if it is PBA then then it’s you can’t throw the purple but it’s it’s black hammer or if it’s a pattern let’s see underneath this one a little in come on let’s see 48 shut him out yeah that shut him out well Derek what’s your record

Now on pink slips uh I’ve lost a couple in a row now I keep losing I’ve lost Magic Gem TNT Infuse this har reality the hardest one for you to lose I’ve lost probably four or five this one I’m not very happy about losing but mine

Doesn’t roll very good Magic Gem you had 840 out of the box with and then lost it in pink slips this dude shoots like 840 every other weeks so that’s a good question to your viewers if you could shoot 840 but then you had to lose that bowling ball next

Week would you still take it would you still sign up for that for that situation um so Hunter finishing it up here Matt uh final thoughts on this ball do you think it’s going to see much play for you cuz you don’t stuff as well um but even with

The pattern stuff we bowl I like the stuff that I could be straighter with the purple forces me too far left sometimes so like I like my double cross a lot this reminds me of My Double Cross quite a bit okay so no I like this a lot

Just cuz I can stay farther right with it and stay on top of the dry longer so okay so that’s sounds to be the consensus viewers those of you looking for this bowling ball you probably need to be in a high friction environment if you’re getting it for like your local

House shot or something like that that’s probably not normally recommended this is definitely more of a sport pattern ball maybe guys it could be like a spare ball replacement for some people may it’s pretty straight but it’s not as early as the IQ to where it would it might be okay right right

Um Hunter good shot there in the 10th man um it was horrible how was your first how was your first pink slips yeah I know was fun for sure I wish I wish I was a little bit later on the air horn but other than that it would have been

In the channel for sure we’re lucky I’ve I’ve boed my fair share of times in my life and was able to hold on to that thing yeah yeah exactly that scared the living crap I knew it was coming and I even still peed a little bit like I was

Like wow that was that was a lot louder than I expected man i’ I’ve been holding an air horn for at least 3 months but I’ve always wanted to do it before hours cuz I was just scared to do it and he just comes in here and rips it first

Stri no I was yeah I was thinking on the dve here I was like what am I what am I going to do like what what’s my distraction to be and then yeah it hit me I was like oh I got to stop Walmart

Air horn now so I think if air horn gets like a common use there’s also a level of distraction that comes with not even using it and just knowing it exists because you’re just thinking about it so much in your back trying to do it I saw

You kind of going through your backpack and I’m like all right here comes something I was thinking maybe like a claer hand or something like I can see you doing that but man straight to the air horn All right so the other aspect of pink slips guys is the winner of the

Match get said take over the booth talk a little Trash the guys can reflect a little bit on the bowling ball while you watch some of their shots go down the lane as always if you want a chance to win dereck’s black hammer which he did

Didn’t want to hook in the right part of the lane uh so I want to see it on something a little shorter something a little harder where I can square up my angles um cuz I I have it really close to a pitch black I’m just trying to

Determine if it’s a step above or a step below either way it’s totally cool with me um I think it’ll see value it’s definitely more than an IQ 78 that’s for absolute certainty uh but I’m just looking forward to throwing it more for sure I like the urethane balls Hunter

Closed the Gap a little bit but um yeah know the ball overall is really good my table ruined the L maybe I’m thinking if you guys are if you guys are going to Nationals and you’re looking for a urethane ball that’s a little weaker than the purple this is the absolute
