ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If it’s a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.

I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.

We look at 3 things:

1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver

and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing

So there’s something that nobody really tells  you when it comes to chipping onto the green   now if you don’t know this you’re going to  start making some of the mistakes you see I’m   making right here now in this golf video what I’m  going to do is I’m going to share you something I

Haven’t actually ever shared on my golf channel  it’s a little system that I’m giving to many   many my students it’s making chipping around  the green so much easier and you’re going to   learn it in just three very simple steps so  step number one I’m really excited to share

This with you cuz I just know it’s going to work  it works with so many golfers from all different   kind of Ages and handicaps so ultimately if you’re  struggling with your chip shots around the Green   from different lies it’s simply because you’re  making your chipping technique too complicated

Okay so here’s what I see too often you know I  see people’s body moving around excessively I   see them using their wrists and they’re just not  sure what to do but you know what you really are

Now I spent a bit of time with Tommy Fleetwood  short game coach graham Walker who came up with   a brilliant phrase putt with Loft I know you can  put you can hit a ball in a straight line if you

Can putt half decent you can learn how to chip  and I want to show you how so get yourself set   up here now I’ve got here a 9on and all I’m going  to do is going to place the base of that N9 iron

Completely flat on the ground when I do that  the base the shaft angle here is slightly look   but slightly forward now as I do this all I’m  going to do now is I am going to imagine just

For a second I am going to set up as if I were  putting I might even for this case of this one   make my putting grip now what I love about this  when you set up like you’re going to putt your

Shoulders naturally level off okay you take a  narrow stance and ultimately here everything   your body’s beautifully over the golf ball at no  stage from here when you’re putting would you do   this with putting would you would you do this with  putting you would’t do any of those things all you

Do is make a beautiful putting stroke okay this  is what I want you to start with is Step number   one now what I love people to do is get a couple  of clubs and put them directly as like a channel

Here and all we’re going to do let’s get those  lined up for a second slight this is a slightly   right to left shot this one and all I’m going to  do here is the stage one is I want you to set up

With in your putting stands balls slightly head  of Center and what we’re going to do here is I’m   going to Blade this one I want to practice  blading it straight down the middle now why   do I do this because most people okay in chipping  there’s two types of people you’ve got your handle

Draggers I’m going to class myself as one of them  sometimes where they drive the handle at the ball   leave the face open right well if you just imagine  blading it here potting this will never happen   you then you got your flickers again like this  well again you don’t do that in potting never

Happens so start to get a feeling first of all  of hitting and blading a ball straight down the   middle or straight down the middle of those trem  lines there once you’ve done that all I want you

Then to do is simply lower that AR get yourself  set I’m still in my putting stance based on the   ground and now I’m imagining blade almost blading  the ball but slightly now lower to the ground and   all I think about making is a simple putting  motion pretty good now the reality is you’re

Not probably going to get it first time in fact  I gave this to uh gentleman Simon yesterday and   when we did the blading exercise with him his  ball bladed and it went over to the right hand

Side why because he’s trying to Chip he’s trying  to get the ball up in the air so the great thing   he’s got feedback now so you don’t move on to  the actual Chip Shot until you’ve got your the

Ability to Blade it straight look down the middle  of those lines then what you do is you want to say   look hit a few shots and start to hold your finish  and notice where you are most of the time when I

Give bits to people here they’re still in what  I call a chipping mindset lifting it up here you   wouldn’t do this for putting stay over the ball  look in your putting uh position here notice this   I’m holding this uh lead shoulder down naturally  because I would do in potting okay start with

That now let’s move on to some slightly tougher  lies around the green so here’s a great example   you’ve just missed the green you’ve balls buried  down looking in kind of really thick grass and   what we’re going to do we’re not going to chip  we’re we’re going to putt with Loft but we’re

Going to make a slightly adaptation of this so  we’re going to get ourselves set up again in in   putting position ball just ahead of uh Center  here and what I’m then going to do is this I’m

Going to use um again another tip from gra here  he loved it called the fish’s tail so when you’re   chipping we’ve talked about putting here okay  this is a putting action very little wristing   action at all but here we’re going to it’s going  to be the start of adding Rhythm and slightly more

Lengthen to your stroke so what I want to do  is I want to imagine almost like a fish’s tail   look at my trail hand here just doing this okay  so what I’m doing now with a putting stroke is

I start with a normal putting stroke here and  then I’m going to imagine just a little bit of   fish’s tail where my body my chest everything  is just matching the movement okay I’m not no

This leading back or flicking I’m getting my body  to match the movement of the head so it’s a nice   rhythmical motion backwards and forwards but it  still feels like a putt just a more rhythmical one bit of a dodgy bounce there but okay but  you see that ultimately there it’s just a very

Simple action it’s just putting now I possibly  there left the blade up I probably felt that a   little bit there maybe if I look back on camera I  might have just leaned back just a fraction there

But the feedback knowing I’ve got putting as  my bare line motion here okay I would never do   this in putting I would never do this so it gives  you immediate feedback as to what you need to do

To improve your short game so the final thing is  this everyone’s going to want to know step number   three three how do you control your distance  around the green let me explain so before we   get into step number three look if you’re new  to the channel it’s your first videos of mine

Please consider subscribing I lease videos just  like this every single week to try and help you   improve your game plus you never have to remember  a thing I’ll always put a free download practice   guide in the description box below so step number  three now here’s some data from shot scope if you

Haven’t checked shot scope out go and check  them out unbelievable team of guys that put   incredible data together and ultimately they’ve  proven this great players better lower handicap   players use more clubs for chipping with because  it makes chipping easy most high handicap players

Are using too much loft pitching wedges and sand  wedges and strange enough it just makes it hard so   let me show you how we can put this system now  in place to make chipping even easier for you

So what I’m going to do is I’m going to start  with my sandwich now your first goal the first   thing to practice is to get used to Landing  the ball in the first section of the green so

I take my pudding stance as we’ve just been uh  working on I imagine now I’m going to imagine   blading the ball so I’m looking at my Square  F blading it forward now once I’ve got that

Image in my mind I’m now going to just lower  the club and just imagine I’m now putting with Loft perfect on the front part of that green now  look where that Ball’s finished now if a flag was

Around about there Sand Wedge is definitely the  club right but it isn’t there so we move up now   I’m going to move from my sand wedge now I’m  going to mix out pitching wedge and I’m going

To go to my 99 do you think okay let me know in  the comments do you think let me know what club   before you see the end of this video what club  is going to get me to that flag now you see my

Sandwich right I moved to 99 will that get me  there so I take my pudding stroke put the face   on the the Bas on the ground take my pudding  stroke again and my aim is to land it just on

The front edge of the green bang bang 99 now  goes where little bit further okay so now what   I’m going to do is I’m going to miss out eight  iron and go straight to seven iron same again

Look front edge of the green get myself set not  trying to chip the ball it’s putting with Loft   one two just as we do putting visualize now  I felt myself just a little bit there get my   hands driving a little bit that what would  that do get the face open wouldn’t it this

Is not good so what I do is is I recognize that  myself sometimes so I again there’s this there’s   the blade blade It Forward visualize the blade  heading forward now get to the golf ball just   visualize slightly lower and Putt and what’s  happening now so 79 is not quite there so what

Do you reckon it is we are we going to miss a  gap I don’t think so I think what we’re going   to do now is we’re going to go six now if  you were to get on a putting green right or

A chipping green and you do this suddenly now  we can start to get a gauge of where flags are   on greens and roughly what club to take but  ultimately the action look is the same action

All the time time I’ve got to learn one action  and it gives me a multitude of different chip shots and watch this one now beautifully rolling  hey Breer didn’t quite strike that one as well   but look we’re now consistent okay we’re getting  it near the hall so a huge thank you to Graeme

Walker awesome putt with L go and check him  out at the Oaks golf club if you if you’re   ever in the area absolutely amazing guy as well  so do me a favor if you enjoy the video give it

A thumbs up maybe sh share it with one of your  friends who you know is struggling with their   chip shots now there is somebody that nobody  tells you about chipping there is a multitude   of shots we’re going to learn around the green  higher shots and we’ll do them over the course

Of this year I’m going to create more videos  for you on the short game lots more to come   in fact check these two videos out here  on pitching around the green they should   help you complement this one very nicely but  until next week have a wonderful golfing week

  1. Thanks, so many times my stroke is thin. Only way I have had better success with the stroke is to get the backswing at least knee high. I’ll work on this lesson you’ve shared now. Thanks so much!

  2. Danny, Paul Runyan taught me this chip with loft 44 years ago at a Golf Digest School. For distance control he said "take your putting stroke back as far needed to get the ball to the hole…then what club with that stroke gets you safely onto the green (as quickly as possible)…and that is the club you use.

Invaluable lesson from one of golf's all time greats.

  3. Hi Danny, another great video , i look fwd to every Sunday afternoon to site down and watch .
    chipping ratios, SW 1:1, PW 1:2 , 9iron 1:3 , 8iron 1:4, 7iron 1;5 , clubs have a value take away from 12 , ie: ( rule of 12 )

  4. This is a great drill Danny and will try this next practice day and let you know the results . Thanks for showing this drill to us

  5. Great tip Danny, practicing this has been a game changer. For the first time in a long while, my aspiration of lowering my handicap from 7 to 5 is realistic. 👏🏌🏼‍♂️

  6. I use this technique a little already, but I always limited from sand wedge to 8 iron, but I see the sense in using more irons for longer distances, so thanks for that.

One problem I have encountered, especially with a sand wedge, is that sometimes I practically pass the club underneath the ball i.e. the ball rolls up the face and over the back of the club, barely moving forward at all. I would love to know why that is, I am guessing that perhaps I am holding the club shank too far backward making the face too shallow?

  7. I don’t carry irons lower than the 8 in my bag. However, I’ve used one of my hybrids for “putting” from off the green, when I’ve had a lot of green to cover. My current Ping 9 iron loft matches my old 8 iron loft, my Ping 8 loft match my old 7 iron loft. I had no idea manufacturers have different lofts for irons (excluding wedges). I had to rethink my game with the new irons.

  8. I live and golf in AZ, USA. Lots of elevated greens. This method is good with a direct approach, but what about 10 yards short of elevated green?

  9. Danny am I to understand that using this system with distance control means you pick the same spot on the green to land the ball? And then, for distance control you use different clubs to hit that spot depending on where the flag is located on the green? No wonder I have such a tough time chipping. I pick a different spot on the green to land the ball depending on the club I’m using which makes consistency much more difficult to accomplish. TYVM for another eye opener.👍

  10. Brilliant video lesson Danny, thank u, I’m often losing shots around the green by shanking, it’s so annoying. For me it’s concentrating on that putting stroke and tempo.

  11. Great video Danny, thanks. I’ve booked some lessons at The Oaks with one of Graham’s professionals in a few weeks – looking forward now to ‘putting with loft’!

  12. Short game is the worst part of my game right now. Like a lot of people I address the ball and then do a combination of chip and pitch and have 0 control of where that TP5 is going. I’m now practicing with just a PW and 8. I do use a 56w with a putting motion if I’m just off an elevated green with not much room to the pin. Hopefully this season I’ll get this part of my game to match the rest. Consistency is what I’ll be looking for. I’m hoping to save about 9 strokes per round by fixing my short game and getting that ball closer to the stick for shorter putts. Thanks for all the short game tips.
