Interview and we talk about autonomy and how this is going to work and there were certain guys obviously led by Jeff Stalin but there’s as they announced the coaching staff there’s going to be a couple other guys from the offensive staff staying um and evidently clip wanted a
Little bit more autonomy that they were comfortable with as far as bringing in his own guys and then they went a different direction so I wouldn’t say it was probably one a and 1B um and I think clip was a little bit too pushy in as far as trying to get things
Exactly as he wanted it um and then they shipped it to Kell Moore it’s interesting From jayen herz’s perspective I think if you want to accentuate what janen Herz does well right now I think Cliff is a better fits I think if you want him to evolve
And do some of the things that all the fans complain about being under Center motion um you know being able to understand hot routes and things of that nature I think the evolution of the position Kell’s a better fit so it depends where you want to go with it I
Would prefer to go with it in getting them better evolving and I think from that standpoint I think it works out they got probably the better the better candidate couple last questions for you John the draft um what do you think is the top priority on that football
Team um I think defensively but I think it’ll start with cornerback but you know the problem is when you talk about the draft the Eagles generally are pretty good you know it’s not only about evaluation it’s about valuation so if you if you argue they’re going to stay
At the 22nd pick and how he can move up he can move down he can do a whole bunch of stuff there are so many tackles that are going to be in that range if you look at Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 list he’s got about nine tackles
In the top 20 so what that tells me offens tackles he’s got it’s unbelievable he’s got it starts with with Al from Notre Dame I think he has at nine and I think there’s seven or eight more down at 20 down to the top 20 what that tells me is offensive tackles
Are going to get pushed down the board because not everybody is going to want to draft an offensive tackle whereas you look at corner there’s only three or four guys in the equation and that means they’re going to get pushed up the board so how’s very honest if it comes down to
You know players who have the same grade are in the same realm he’s always going to pick offensive or defensive line first so if you’re a betting man I bet on offensive tackle in the first round John I would say this doesn’t it make more sense because there’s more holes
Over on that side of the football defensively trade out of the first you get multiple twos and threes so that you can have the ability because right now you’re at $20 million in cash space depending on what happens with reic and maybe some conversations with your corners and maybe some restructuring
Somewhere else along the line where you could free up some money as you know $18 million is allocated towards the draft so at the end of the day you really don’t have a lot of latitude in free agency to make that money now he’s really good at that at creating space so
I’m assuming he will but doesn’t it make more sense I mean you think there’ll be more of a priority in the draft or free agency uh this offseason well right now they got they they have two picks in the second round they have a third round pick so they’re they’re
They’re pretty well stocked uh up at the top they’re gonna have a bunch of compensatory picks in on day three um and and we’ll see I mean they could trade Hassan reick and get another second round pick so all of a sudden um you do need to add bodies but they they
Need to add meaningful bodies and I talked about those young players look they’ve been going defense defense defense heavily yep um and they have to start um a big part of their plan is going to say look at big banio and say we have Jordan Davis we have jayen
Carter up front that’s our foundation um Kay whether you like Kaylee Ringo or not uh Eli Ricks showed some promise they have some young Corners niobe Dean’s got to stay healthy they picked up Isaiah Rogers who’s likely going to be back in the Mi after his gambling suspension so they have
Some bodies um and they can add and they have as I said four picks in the first three rounds so I don’t think it’s a necessity to trade out because a you know you’re you’re taking a big you’re taking a big knockdown if you if you go
Out and I was talking about quiso doam Mena this morning he did it a couple years years ago when he drafted Louis Kyle Hamilton was there he won a safety it’s like you don’t drop down from 11 to 32 and think you’re going to get the

From what we’re understanding June 1 Russell Wilson’s gonna be cut they’re going to try and try to accumulate because they lost all them draft picks John for the acquiring of Wilson and remember New Orleans gets their number one because they had to make that move for Shawn pton they had to give
Compensation up he’s still in a rookie year and he’s got the fifth year option why wouldn’t you package something up in the offseason here to get a shf Fired Guy have SLE and ceran at both Corners you automatically fix and you put a 24 year old guy in the
Room who’s got an option and he’s still on a rookie deal and it gives you a little latitude and it gives you a little it gives you a little payroll flexibility for you to be able to go linebacker and maybe some Edge depth if you were able to do that and not spend
As much money as you have to yeah I I I don’t know why people keep thinking Patrick ceran is going to get traded I think there was a little bit of an arms race there San Francisco called uh you know there was some speculation that there was going to be a fire sale
In Denver uh but he was never made available now the Eagles had tremendous interest in uh certan coming out they wanted to draft him or and actually they had JC horn ahead of Patrick San so yeah horn would have been their first choice San was their second once they
Both came off the board that’s when they moved up to get Devonte Smith they had four players in mind and once the corners that had to go up and get Devonte but which has worked out for them but last year you know the 49ers didn’t want the Eagles at the time they
Thought they would base each other and obviously the Eagles spell off the clip so you had that bit of an arms race each team didn’t want the other so they both call but the only way Denver’s trading Patrick ceran is to go up in the draft
To get a quarterback that’s the only way and it’s going to have nothing to do with the Eagles now they ALS also called on Janet Johnson who’s a hell of a player Chago was fantastic and he’s a free agent and but I think he’s so good
Chicago kind of figured out that we want to keep them and I wouldn’t be surprised if they put the tag on them if it has to be so uh but yeah they know they need an upgrade at cornerback but it makes no sense for Denver to trade uh Patrick
Ceran uh unless they’re getting they’re going way up in the draft and getting you know Drake May uh J Jaden Daniels somebody to take over their quarterback situation P um I think that’s too high I’m I’m talking the three guys at the top of the tra they G to be Caleb
Williams Drake B jayen Daniels they’ll probably all three of them will probably go top five and if if Denver wants to go up and get one of them um they’re going to probably have to give up Patrick sartan but for anybody else who just wants a corner they have he’s young they
Have a great Corner yeah they’re not getting rid of him unless they can get a quarterback and then it would make some sense the kid even at Chicago’s 24 I mean yeah he’s great player too last question for you here John um the payroll flexibility that I just
Mentioned I mean I I look at Hassan reck and I look at him on you may think I’m crazy I make this comment but when I see him on that defense with that talent I think he’s a liability he’s not very good in coverage um and he’s not very good
Against the Run he’s a really a one trick guy and when you have a guy on the other end who gives you double digit sacks you kind of balance it and he’s a force a John on a good team he’s a force on a team that’s 27th in pass defense
He’s not very good and he’s no impact and he’s $15 million if you’re hoe how do you handle this do you want to restructure a deal because personally I don’t think he’s a $20 million guy and I’m not even sure with his limited skills outside of pass rushing he’s a 15
Now there’s a premium on getting home I know that so between 12 and 15 he’s probably in the room but how do you handle this well I think you handle it like the eagles are handling it they don’t think he’s a $20 million player and they want
Him to go out and they gave Tory Dandy his agent uh permission um to seek a trade what they’re trying to say they did the same thing with darus slle last year um they’re trying to say we’re not low ball you go out and see go out and
Gauge the market um and if you can find somebody want to um give you 20 plus million dollar um you know you know we’ll talk to him about a trade I would think it would have to start with a second round pick and if that can be worked out the
Win-win type of situation they’d be willing to move them otherwise you’re looking at what happened with SLE maybe attack on an extra year per cap relief you give him more money up front he’s getting about 15 million this year up front um you know so maybe that turns
Into 25 million over two years guaranteed right up front something of that nature even 30 um so that’s what they’re doing they’re trying to replicate the Darius Slay situation I think you’re right I mean he’s a pass rusher but that’s every pass rusher and why was he so
