Going but yes it’s essentially the start of free agency yeah yeah so like the 13th is when you can sign deals the 11th is when you’re allowed to say like hey what do you think of this the legal tampering period is what they call it how stupid is that I mean people are

Calling me Goofy it’s such a stupid thing just start free agency then no because before that’s what they did before they said you can’t talk to anybody before free agency but then like a couple of teams would and so then 10 minutes after free agency starts there’s

Like deals there sign you’re like well we know something Shady went down which screws over the teams that didn’t cheat which there probably weren’t very many I don’t know I wasn’t paying too much attention now all these teams can do these same things but they can’t sign

The contract for 2 days which means the teams that weren’t cheating before can swoop in and be like hey here’s what we have to offer so like you have time where every team is allowed to talk but nothing is official which means players have to hear from everybody but see but

That’s the thing is that people are still agreeing to Deals 10 minutes into unofficial free agency the legal tampering period which means that the legal tampering period is now tampered with days before but the thing is it can those deals aren’t official which means teams can swoop in and like a team could

Back out a player could back out you know I’m not I can’t think of any NFL examples it doesn’t happen it happened in the NBA with DeAndre Jordan remember that he was going to sign somewhere and then like half the team went to his

House and was like no don’t do it no do I don’t think it’s happened in the NFL at least not off the top of my head um if anybody in the chat remembers one let me know but that’s I mean I like it in theory it it saves teams from like the

Cheating it’s just silly because teams still cheat and it’s like now there’s instead of before the legal tampering period there’s an illegal tampering period but then the tampering period cuts it out like it balances it out it absolutely does you don’t agree to like like the Broncos signed three guys

Within the first hour of free agency and one of them was a backup quarterback sure maybe you can put a deal like that two years $10 million you can put that together in the first 45 minutes of free agency they signed Mike mlinci to what was it 5 years $75 million deal within

Like 15 minutes they’re still tampering but the difference is like another team even after you like they have agreed to terms can still say like hey this obviously isn’t official we’ll give you another 10 million bucks if you want to come to us instead but then that’s bad

Business if it’s if it’s the agent and then teams can black ball that agent um people are saying gry Gregory as an example of that um I don’t that deal his deal with the Cowboys just fell apart um and then the Broncos jumped in there um

So I don’t think that was an example and that I I don’t know if that was yes that was during the legal tampering window um because then Randy signed officially with the Broncos a couple of days after that but so that’s essentially what we’re on we’re one week away from free

Agency opening up in the NFL and that means we’ve got a lot of free agency previews to do Henry and we’re going to dive into the realistic guys to look at the depth guys because we know the Broncos at least they say Henry aren’t going to be involved in the first wave

Of free agency like they were last year we know Shawn Payton likes to be splashy at times and so I wouldn’t be shocked to see if they go after a big name or two and we’re going to talk about the dream free agency that the Broncos could have

And how realistic is some of it because I think there’s some realistic free agent signings that we’re going to talk about today that could end up happening and big names off the board that could go to the Broncos we’re going to dive into that but first let’s take a look

Just back at this combine and what we learned from guys that ran on the field but you have something first about the combine no about you were just looking hard at your computer oh yeah I was just looking it up yeah I was just a surprising turn of events the

Dallas Cowboys lost Randy Gregory to Denver after report cealing deal cuz like shefa reported it was 5 years 70 million and it did fall apart so it it does like it’s apparently because of salary forfeiture language yeah um standard for them but not commonly used so who knows how exactly it all played

Out but if the Broncos were to say like hey we’ll we’ll offer this with without that language who knows there was one back out and I remember what happened there with that one was um Randy Gregory wanted yeah some more guarantees or something with the the salary contract

Guarantees from the Cowboys and the cow said huh-uh we don’t do that in any of our deals and Randy Gregory’s agent said no you did it with Dak Prescott’s deal just like earlier this year and they said well yeah I mean we don’t do it with anyone outside of quarterbacks and

That’s when Randy said left you guys I’m out of here and then got the exact same deal from the Broncos yeah good good for him well turned out to be really good for him and there’s many cases of why you have to be wary on the free agent

Market especially the first wave of free agency for so for the Broncos to say uh like we’re not going to be involved in the first wave of free agency we don’t want to sign the the big free agents because we can’t do that every year cuz

We did it last year that’s not a bad thing to hear because how many times do the big free agency signings either look awful or don’t live up to it I mean probably 90% of them at least don’t live up to the deal they got because for the

Most part there’s a reason free agents are on the open market yeah I’m curious I’m going to pull up like the 2020 free agency and see just cuz I mean that’s like the Broncos just in general across the league see what exactly happened there cuz I’d be

Curious yeah are you pulling 2020 just out of the air yeah I figured like what that’s we got three three four three years years four right 2020 2021 2022 they play 2020 so Byron Jones he so this is the biggest just in terms of dollar amount okay um Byron Jones that uh he

Got hurt that was about he hasn’t done much Robert Quinn um again like hasn’t done much he was 29 at the time 5year deal Teddy Bridgewater uh that was to sign with the Panthers I mean 21 million bucks a year for quarterback you got kind of what you

Needed I guess well he was off the team after a year though was it just one year there we go y um Joe schert who later became a Bronco DJ reer retired already yeah DJ reader um a free agent right now yeah I think he played well um two

Injuries though two significant injuries y um Kyle vanoi with the dolphins has been good I’m not sure I mean we’re 12 13 million a year maybe uh Tom Brady that one worked out Dante Fowler Jr that one didn’t work Trey Waynes nope Kendall Fuller to Washington he’s been solid

Especially with $10 million a year Javon hardgrave to Philly got a Super Bowl uh Cory Littleton not good Malcolm Jenkins so yeah this in general well we went through the top 15 or or so I’m going to pull up 2021 just to see if this is like a where’s the

Bronco any Broncos was that who would have been that year20 boy you got the list pulled up that the cornerback no no that was the corner that might have been the cornerback um let’s see when from Chicago can’t remember his name oh Kyle Fuller yeah that was the Kyle Fuller

Could have been and thees thing about him was he was actually a late release from the Bears so I believe that was a May signing yeah so let’s see they you’re right let Conor McGovern walk so this is in and out that was the biggest deal anybody got out was Conor McGovern

Out Chris Harris um Melvin Gordon got two years 16 million there you go that because it was his second year where the fumbles started right second year the fumbles were when it started to be ISS third year was when he got cut for it right y so the first year was the

Good one so he was solid for one year yeah yeah okay um next biggest deal Sam Martin I mean it didn’t work it’s a punter though you gave him two and a half million a year um Nick Vanette again less than three million a year what’ you expect Jeff Driscoll started a

Game a resigned Shelby Harris lost Derek wolf brought in Mike Baron for two and a half million I mean they really just didn’t make any moves we’ll we’ll Flash Forward to 2021 I think I mean they must have done more they did nothing then so

Darby Darby was their top in 2021 y was a good oh really I guess he got hurt inury I mean and that’s kind of what again why are guys on the free agent Market if they’re good it’s typically because they have injury concerns if they’re getting paid a lot and they

Don’t have injury concerns it’s probably they’re probably getting overpaid significantly yeah that’s he did I mean he was too much time one year right uhur got hurt he missed time in the first year too which I forgot yeah I he played better than 10 million a year

When he was on the field uh Kyle Fuller one year 9.5 million that didn’t work disaster um lost Nick Vette that didn’t matter lost AJ boy that didn’t matter lost Jeremiah Tatu uh resigned Kareem Jackson uh lost Jaan James oh speaking of awful massive signings Mike Boon they

Signed two years a little less than two million a year he didn’t do anything also didn’t pay that much um lost Phil Lindsay uh brought in Shamar Steven for 2 million bucks they really just haven’t done much in here but yeah the big ones there isn’t a great track record and last year

I mean last year is when they were very very active in the the first hour of free agency uh and the first day of free agency they handed out massive contracts you had the the big one to Mike mcglinchy then Ben Powers within the first hour of the legal tampering period

Opening um I mentioned the quarterback you also signed Jared SDM but then the other big one later that Monday was Zach Allen when they brought him in now now those moves still too early um none of them massive busts right now um but we’re still trying to figure out can

Those guys live up to those contracts um so the fact that the Broncos say they aren’t going to be involved in the first wave of free agency is not the worst thing ever and we’re going to dive into some more realistic ones guys that you should keep your eye on second third

Wave later this week but Henry first tell us what we need to know from the combine not from George pton and Shawn pton speak because we broke that down but from the actual numbers the guys on the field I mean the quarterbacks I think are the big story I mean that’s the fun

One and you go into it and you know like Joe Milton’s just going to put on a show like this is what he was built for and I wrote this on the website it’s just for the die hards but I wrote a lot about Joe Milton cuz I went into that saying

Like I I might just turn it off so I don’t even see what he does to not get just exactly because I know he’s going to look incredible like best best number I guess is that he threw a ball 73 yards in the air for reference the past seven years the

Longest throw um of any quarterback in any game is Josh Allen throwing at 69 yards that’s what we’re talking about like day one he steps in the NFL and I think has the strongest arm in the league which is pretty crazy and if not he’s right up there it’s him or Josh

Allen um I think it’s him he looked he looked really good and then you go backit wait really quick you say he looked really good just because he threw a 73 yards um I think every throw it just so so there there were some where the accuracy wasn’t there like he wasn’t

Quite as sharp as like shock no nobody was super sharp though like everybody missed a couple um but like JJ McCarthy his came on the Deep balls never really got those figured out on Bo Knicks anything down the field was rough and like the placement on the shorter stuff wasn’t all that

Good B’s arm also did not look very strong like is that a surprise yeah I mean it’s it didn’t look as strong as you expected after watching him in games it’s just weird because you go back and you see them cuz they’re all just back to back

To back and you see the other guys throwing they you see them you’re like oh there is there is a little bit of a gap here so I I was not super impressed um early on I kind of was cuz I was like arm isn’t like popping but at the same

Time he’s getting the ball the receiver over and over and over again they get to the Deep throws and not so good um yeah um I forget I talking about so Milton though going back through um he missed his couple of throws but it’s just the the size the

Athleticism um just that arm and then you go back and look at the numbers and so for those who don’t watch a bunch of college football he’s kind of been like the people kind of like the M Jones jamus Winston not in terms of like style but in terms of like almost like

Throwing Zach mil Wilson to the mix and then that’s kind of like how he’s seen just in terms of like value is like you don’t saying you want Joe Milton in the college football world is a ridiculous thing to say yes you know where it’s just like those guys if you kind of

Average them together it’s kind of like it’s not quite as bad as saying like I want Zack Wilson it’s not it’s a little bit worse than saying like I want ma Jones but that’s that’s kind of we seen and you look back through wait what do

You mean that’s how he seen I feel like Joe Milton and Mac Jones are like the complete opposite but but I’m just talking about in terms of like I want this guy not in terms of like play style or anything but just in terms of I want

Him on my team that’s how crazy you sound when you want it but then you go back through the numbers like a ma Jones right now yeah gotcha not Mac Jones as a first round pi okay okay okay ex yeah um with Milton though you go back through

The numbers and you’re like okay starts at um at at Michigan um plays plays like five games starts five games a couple years in and that’s his real shot he gets benched and and it it obviously doesn’t go well then he transfers to Tennessee he starts the first two games

Gets benched for henden hooker obviously those didn’t go great obviously Hendon hooker takes over um the last two games of the next season he starts again because henden hooker tears his ACL um and then he comes in and starts the entire year this year and so while it is

His own fault he hasn’t gotten a whole bunch of opportunities um because he did lose those jobs he also hasn’t had a lot of opportunities and the one full season that he’s played completes almost 65% of his passes almost eight yards per attempt 20 touchdowns five interceptions

Like you go back through and you almost talk yourself into it and this is what I didn’t want um but he to me of all the quarterbacks is the one who just like I mean if if the Broncos were in a different situation if the Broncos had

Russ for example uh we’re assuming they move on from him taking Joe Milton in like the fifth round fourth round and putting him in the system for a couple years he’s still only 23 if you can work out those Kinks then he could be ridiculous I mean you look at

Like Josh Allen and this is like the lazy comparison everybody does and it’s like well Josh Allen sucked in Co maybe didn’t suck in college but had his ups and downs he figured it all out with these same tools so I’m not on the Joe Milton Train by any means whoa it really

Sounds like you’re on the easy when you see him out there throwing the ball it’s just like oh my God I mean you love the underwear Olympics Hank you see Joe out there in his little skims he’s throwing the ball 73 yards downfield something that you discredited when you said it

Because you said uh only one time in the past 5 years has a guy throwing the ball like 69 yard so this doesn’t happen in real NFL because they’re not capable because that’s as far as they can throw because if Joe Milton comes in the NFL

He’s the only guy who can throw the ball that far like deep balls get hit all the time this is another four yards on top of that that R it’s it’s pretty crazy like you’re you’re looking for reasons to gamble on any of these guys because they all come with

Like their flaws and their strengths and you know with with Caleb Williams the the flaw is that he bailes out of the pocket the flaw is like can he see over things the flaw is like he can probably just do the exact same thing in the NFL

They does in college but a little bit better athletes maybe not and the strengths are obviously the arm and the quick release and the F like so many different things um that you just say like what are the odds these flaws work themselves out and these strengths stay

Much better obviously than Joe Milton but it I’d be totally down to gamble on him late if the Broncos had more picks they just don’t and so I’m curious to see what’s going to happen as Jose says so Hank talked to eight minutes about a

Guy he doesn’t want but I mean that’s do want him he to me was the story of the combine he’s the one where you look it’s just like oh my God but if you like other quarterbacks though um Michael panks Jr the Medicals obviously that’s like the big thing for him totally

Passed um hug yep and so if that’s what was keeping him down the third round maybe second who knows um we’ll see in all the mock drafts coming up but he had another great day um just put the ball where it needed to be over and over and

Over again um I really like that uh Nicks talked about it short stuff generally went pretty well longer stuff didn’t go great um some of the other guys Spencer Rattler he’s another one who like he just looks like a quarterback like when he drops back and he like everything he does just looks

Right but he’s a little bit undersized he doesn’t have a massive arm um I feel like he’s quietly creeping up boards yeah well and he’s had you remember like the the Kenny picket draft where Kenny picket goes in the first round it’s like wow there’s just no quarterbacks here

That was supposed to be the Spencer Rattler draft like going into that season he was the number one pick like 75 80% of places said like he’s the number one pick going the season with Sam Howell getting like a couple of the others and they were kind of that onew

Um then he he I mean wins all of the games he plays um but the West Virginia win is like a little shaky I think he it might have been like one touchdown two picks something like that and then next week they go to they play Texas and he

Struggles and Caleb Williams comes in and saves the day and it’s just Caleb Williams job and I mentioned this a couple weeks ago but even after that season the Heisman odds right when it ended or right after Caleb Williams and Lincoln left for USC it was number one

Uh I think Bryce young number two CJ stra number three Spencer Rattler then he this is even after he got benched and so then he winds up transferring and the odds go down but he hasn’t played badly I’m I’m just not sure there’s like high-end traits he might be but he did

Look polished he looked sharp he put the ball where it needed to be um this is great Insight Henry it’s also taken a while and I didn’t expect to be talking about Joe mil uh and these guys in the first when we’re going to transition a little bit

To talk about the dream free agent signings here but over at bet 365 okay I want to test where you think Joe Milton falls in the odds to be the first quarterback drafted obviously it’s not going to happen because Caleb Williams over at bet 365 is minus

B knck bonick Michael penck Jr Michael penck Jr Sam Hartman so this is where it starts to get a little bit interesting I thought Hartman like he he doesn’t have an arm like he’s one of those where it’s like I mean that it’s arm strength isn’t everything but it’s kind of the the

Question is like it’s nothing can you get the ball to like where it needs to be when it needs to be there and then you just like work backwards like the last thing is the arm strength the takes what the ball takes as long as it takes

To fly there how long does it take to get out of your hand after you make the decision how long does it take you to make the decision and so it’s that whole process put together but so like if Joe Milton needs to think like one step

Ahead Sam Hartman needs to think like three steps ahead because his arm like he’s got to be so on the money with the reads post Snap like I would probably Milton over Harman I definitely would but I guess Hartman is still the favorite there okay you’re correct on

That Spencer Rattler who has the same odds as Sam Hartman Still Still Rattler yep now we’re getting into some interesting territory Jordan Travis the injured quarterback so he you would cuz he tore his achilles with like two weeks to go uh but he was playing well I I’ll probably say the odds say

Jordan Travis and I think I would too but I haven’t watched a lot of him okay Devin ly L’s another one who generally had like a good day I guess I guess lir is still in front of him yeah okay you’re right and then kendan slovis Ken

Slovis ke yes thank you okay I after this weekend I say no he he ran like a 4540 or something wait so who are you taking um it’s got to be slovis by the odds but he had like the softest arm of everybody and was missing every receiver

He to me is just Untouchable even though he ran like a 4 five um but I would imagine he still ahead of Milton on there um you’re correct yeah you can’t even get odds for Joe Milton over at be 365 and be 365 is the place where they’re all about the unordinary so

There’s a chance he’s success F I mean we talked about in the first round you wind up 20 25% of the quarterbacks wind up being good enough to take you where you want to go I think he’s sitting there at like 10% which is pretty good

And you can seal it late but there’s obviously not a path for the Broncos to look for a guy like that um yeah you keep bringing him up yeah you can’t get out of your head like you can’t get out your head it’s crazy what he can do with

Not a dream free agent signing so so we are factoring that in it it’s tough to like I’m not sure where exactly the line this is this is dream fre agent signing not best players and it sounds like you’re saying he’s the best free agent out there but maybe

Not the best fit even for a dream scenario for the Broncos does I mean if you could just add anybody to the team it still still is him you know if you can just tell me even with that goal in mind it still is him just because he’s

Going to be a great player when the Broncos are trying to compete um it’s just in the real world you know that window at that Point’s going to be short and so in terms of guys who I would actually pay top dollar to it’s Antoine Winfield Jr by by quite a wide margin

There’s just so many factors here I think there’s a good chance that first of all there’s a good chance he just gets franchise tagged and tomorrow we’re saying this was a waste of time to talk about um but if he doesn’t get franchise tagged I think he’ll either reset the

Justin Simmons or are you saying goodbye to Justin Simmons getting a draft pick in return and using Winfield to not just replace Simmons but also you’re kind of starting more of a youth movement there yeah I I think in a dream scenario you play them both okay in the realistic

Scenario I think it’s more likely I think that this would actually make a bunch of sense for the Broncos you know it would be painful to trade Justin Simmons but you clear what 145 million in cap space if Antoine Winfield winds up being let’s just say $20 million a

Year might might be a little on the high end but not by much um first of all his cap hit this year is probably 8 million 78 million which means you’re saving money right away which is good for the Broncos given the situation they’re in um and then you get

To add the draft pick too so I do think that this would line up in a lot of ways for the Broncos in a dream scenario though you want them both playing together because it I mean Justin Simmons also what he’s 30 now so 2026 he’s the he’s 32 he’s another one where

He’s got he’ll still be a good player then he’ll still be a good player after then although I mean you know 2030 he won’t be and so where is that line you just don’t really know and uh you might be on to something there Henry um but like you

Total gets set at 8 and a half if you get Kirk Cousins and and like just knowing what the team is knowing you Talent knowing the C smash that over you could but I’m not saying Kirk is bringing them to a Super Bowl and you’re winning Super Bowls with Kirk Cousins

About Michael Thomas yeah so starting with Shaq Barrett to me I mean you just did this with Frank Clark so why do you want an older Frank Clark oh like it’s just not a good very different I don’t think so I I I don’t I mean what 2021

2020 2019 Frank Clark is a pro bowler sha Barrett I mean that’s 2019 when did Shaq lead the league in sacks um 19 and a half he never had 19 his best was 13 and 20 oh no I’m on oh he did he did yeah it was first year after leaving

The Broncos he went and led the league in in sacks Jack Barrett oh it would have been 2018 I think actually because that’s when the Broncos drafted Bradley CH like I you have three Edge rushers I don’t see a need to add a 31-year-old Who coming off you think the Broncos

Need to upgrade at Edge if if they want to go like try for Chase young or something then I could see that gamble as being worth it but I don’t think they need to go find a guy who what four and a half sacks last year three sacks the year before like 10
