Nicholas is certainly in that conversation in terms of the best players to not have an Elite Series win I think he’s playing easily like a top 10 player in the world this season and the fins have waited so long like they’re so passionate about dis Golf and they’re just waiting to have that

Champion on the dis golf pro tour I think mattio still feels like he’s in the prime of his career I don’t think that he’s ever quite reached the top of his game so he loves competing so so much he loves disc golf tournaments I mean he’s got over 100 wins only one of

Them on the disc golf pro tour Elite Series so I think he’s still hungry to prove that he’s got what it takes at that top level and now that he’s got that win under his belt watch out no question I think Joey buckets is certainly in contention for breakout

Player of the year but so far we’ve only played three tournaments very limited sample size but I think that the way things are going I mean no question right now he’s the guy that’s on top of that list I got asked this question last week and I’m going to stick with it absolutely

Ganon is a favorite to win the tournament even with Nicholas with the two-stroke lead hasn’t proven himself whenever you have somebody who hasn’t proven themselves that person on the card who is a proven winner is a scariest person on the card period and that’s what Nicholas is thinking too now

Will he overcome that Nicholas is a great player and he will win eventually could be Tomorrow Hello and welcome to final round coverage from the 2024 open at Austin presented by flight Factory discs we are again on the Harvey penic disc golf course you’re watching the disc golf pro tour on Jes Pro with Nate ston Jeremy coing and Paulie lar another epic finish

Is set to begin here of the third and final round we are going to be playing with a reduced number of of holes today because there was enough delays earlier in the day that we are not starting this round until 5:25 in the afternoon so holes uh 12 15 and 16 are eliminated

From the back nine so that these guys could get their rounds in before dark Nicholas anula off to obviously incredible start really playing the course well two shot lead over Ganon Burr who was the defending champion of this event at this course last year and

Also on tour winning last week in Waco a proven champion and a face that we are going to get very familiar seeing for as long as he’s playing disc golf Mio like a fine wine he continues to get better with age can he get his name on the

Trophy for the second time in his career on the Elite Series level and another player that we are getting very familiar with so far this season like we said earlier the breakout player of the the year thus far Joey buckets he is still in contention as is everyone in Chase

Car is as well yeah we’re going to see uh pretty good weather today a little sprinkles here and there and some wind pick up and also calm down we’re going to start here on whole one though 400 ft to the basket I mean we’ve been seeing them all

Weekend just wide heer skip it up there try not to miss too far left it looks like that’s the mistake I see a lot of people making it’s kind of like the combination of weather from all three days a little bit of wind a little bit of calm but

Then the rain actually a bit H looks kind of heavy on the heer it’s a little bit straighter line than what we’ve seen from most players so far a lot of players trying to go high and wide but still inside the circle again is always going to use as

Much height as he is allowed in order to bring the disc on Sharp angle and that’s why I like the width how many mtio hops do you think we’re going to see today Paul oh gosh I hope so many I hope I hope at least five not on whole one he’s

Inside the circle I think it’s going to be a lot Mio’s locked in he’s got the phone silenced doesn’t matter who’s calling notifications are off k pass this oh great drive there from Joey and that circles in just about 15 long I like that distance for Joey to

Get the round started off that’s been his Bugaboo is about 25 ft the last few tournaments and n CL a little high perhaps even a little left in the end it is out you when you talk to the oh Mato that did not look like a typical Mato release there’s one hop

Though we’re going to count that okay oh get a little shaky there his shaky still produces good results but what I was saying about uh Joey is that you talked to his friends and the guys that played with him growing up through the different eras of his

Career the putting has been the thing that they say is one of the better Parts about him and I’d have to say even when I’m on coverage with jomez I get a little bit nervous when the cameras are on me it doesn’t matter who you are speaking of first hole nerves dig into

Those stats again let me see if I got lucky last time or is hole one the hardest putting hole again from Circle one uh c1x let’s see putting and looks like hole three was the hardest and hole one was the third hardest okay so maybe that maybe there’s

Still more research to be done that’s still a good guess Kyle Klein after biring the first two goes for the High Roller play using the height to make sure he gets the flip giving the disc more time up in the air to get closer to vertical takes away the risk of accidentally

Missing your angle and finding the OB left that is a very sophisticated shot shape and choice for Kyle this is kind of the other approach needs to be very understable you to get your angles correct I think Cole has done that this is going to probably be a little bit long of the

Basket just like we are used to seeing from Kyle just drives it right in there didn’t look too difficult for him this is probably the difficult spot the headwind coming up the hill and kind of scary going from where Kyle did come from a couple winners last year

On the tour Kyle and cold this time Calvin heinberg awkward run up here keeps it Compact and that looks rocket ship down the right side really good wow very nice shot you know we did mention that he is not throwing any for this tournament but forehand is not what gets Calvin the

Placements at these tournaments that he is so accustomed to getting it’s it’s his backhand and and let’s call it what it is we’ve been pretending too long forehand is not cool ouch I agree I ouch is what I why you hold two par 4 715 you could do

Uncool forehand here easily to The Landing Zone but there’s other ways to get it done you can get the big turnover mid-range try to slide something up around the corner it’s that second shot that’s really the difficult one we saw Calvin do it really well down the right

Side you’ll also see players attacking the left side just trying to get the weight right you really have to throw it pretty hard to get through those trees and then back up this little rise to give yourself a short putt nerd alert very uncool Ganon going forehand is this sit it’s really good

It’s far enough away from that out of bounds line that he’s going to have a good angle at the I don’t know if you call it it Alleyway to the pin but good shot I like this as long as it’s not too heavy just in inside of the OB line the

Closer you get to that backside OB line the harder that second shot really gets you you want to be tighter to that right side OB that big tree the one nass is tracking this is looking really nice yes that is nearly perfect for this hole all four of them going with pretty nerdy

Shots there Nate yeah effective though never said it wasn’t effective yeah just not cool yeah Joey up first kind of see that left side kind of really shape that line that he’s got to throw I mean that does look way cooler yeah that does look this is going to end

Up looking really cool oh that’s cool and that’s why Joey is on leag card he’s throwing shots like that that’s a just a such a great control shot it’s so low look at how much drift out of a driver basically none I mean just the smallest

Little bit of fade it’s flying like a mid-range no flip MH no fade that’s going to be a easy day of work if you can put that shot together footing an issue out here for sure slow down down no perfect ooh catches the top of the

Hill interested to see how he does with that putt after the first one looked a little looked a little stabby to me with putts like you had on hole one it’s like on hole two you don’t have any confidence still you’re still trying to find it because you’re unhappy even

Though you made it I think this is a really important shot you lost half your lead with the Miss put on hole one if you’re NE glass you know ganon’s close got to find a way yeah it’s going to test the putt though outside the circle looks like

Yep the pressure has a way of snowballing on you when you when you haven’t won one yet that looked really nice that is how you do it yeah great answer starts that off just outside the right chain with his Hiser putt that’s exactly where he needs to put that at 33 to 35

Ft Ganon goes the opposite direction does not make the adjustment from H one stabby is right on that on that putt he’s not doesn’t quite look like he’s getting the full swing out of it mtio a little bit closer this time but I think Mio’s putt looked more

Unlike his normal putt than then ganon’s putt on ho one miio was very strange release as good as miio is he has been known to be shaky on the putting green from time to time you know like he is great highlights all over the place but

He is known to let one leak from 25 ft here and there Cole is 4 through four and he is going the aggressive Eagle line on whole five he did Eagle this the day before oh wow and I’m not going to say he’s guaranteed an eagle but that looks like it’s pretty

Close this is a strange spot for the drive to be go go in May oh no oh no no no no do your job that was awful so smooth so slow well this is basically Bullseye boy oh boy uh 600 through five not a bad way to start the final

Day swinging back over to Calvin on the downhill hole four how much wind was on this te when you guys were on the te a lot when I was on there it it was nearly as strong as it was in round one for us and then we

Finished the hole we looked up there and the flags were just dormant and we’re like is it actually still blowing up there Calvin not bothered by any wind Parks it takes the birdie he’s off to a good start himself and nicha’s two shot lead

Is only one now over k r dollan who is quite a few holes ahead of him on the course but still charging from third card hole three Par 3 360 up the hill we saw a roller sidearm can do the this little sneaky flex line drift it from left underneath

These branches by this tree and slide it up into the circle we have seen big higher as well it can be tricky though if you hit something with the roller you can go left out of bounds pretty easily or long hitting the branches is also something I’ve seen a lot of people do

So this is oh look at the rain has yeah especially with the rain pick up this is a bonus hole Yeah Joey just kind of speeds through that one and throws it short right into the rough that’s okay when you get a birdie birdy start this is not one that you’re circling on

The scor guard I have to get that it’s better height from nelos good angle as well oh wow that is a thing of beauty some and it just sits down like that’s this this basket is on a pretty steep hill that’s the best shot we’ve seen on

This hole to control it in like that the drift and now the just the gentle Fade Into the front of the hill almost no energy left you could hardly do it better that’s a master class on that shot right there KN cloth beautiful oh no this is bogey

City think we’ll still see genon bring out the big shot the wind sets up for it and it looks like he is lining it up I like it plenty of height how’s the distance looks adequate yeah that was that was going to be if it sat it would have been Bullseye

If not it would have been 25 ft down the hill look like I had a chance to maybe grab a little metal [Applause] mhm Joey no way what and it sticks what what a birdy no way oh my you know what I did fail to mention at the beginning of the

Broadcast that I did not watch this I didn’t watch this live and I don’t know well okay I can’t lie I know who wins but that was an accident I don’t know how they won wow what a shot that was awesome and I certainly didn’t know

That Joe just threw one in from the Fairway incredible how aggressive from down there I know I don’t think he wanted do that at all no he’s not trying to make it he’s just going don’t be 30 short that’s my guess make sure you’re not super short make sure you commit what a

Highlight what oh Mio is pitching out and now he’s where is that I left side okay yeah short left opportunity to save the bar oh oh he loved it that’s the boing hop count number [Applause] one and Ganon wow off the cage low I haven’t seen him out of sorts with the putter

Basically ever like the it’s not it’s not that he’s missing by a ton but yeah you can see he’s pretty shocked I mean so far he’s made a putt and then missed the putt from outside or right inside the circle’s Edge and missed one obstructed from out inside the circle I

Mean it’s just the standard that he set for himself yep cuz anyone else were like okay it’s normal start Joseph Anderson is three under through three Anthony so much height pulling across back towards the basket gets some around it and then curls back to it so much height to go that far

Past in the rain that eagle puts Anthony Bella five under through five we knew the other cards on the course were going to be posing a problem to these guys but the wind the rain it’s going to make things interesting as this all gets settled out Whole four part three 460 ft downhill with out of bounds wrapping around the entire Fairway and the green also this ball golf green if you were to come up just terribly short you could find out of bounds there as well likely a headwind today so these guys will have

To adjust accordingly I think perhaps you start bringing out the overstable Fairway driver where you would have gone mid-range or putter in the cal probably play it a little more to the right and try to use the stability to get to the ground looks like mid-range to start

Though maybe the wind is not yeah look at those flags they’re not really ripping oh and especially with that flat release you I can’t imagine there’s much headwind at the moment he not going to get all the way down there but but he’s going to get the green oh my good not

Even close to getting all the way down there wow it’s a pretty sticky golf grain I think recently kind of sanded so the discs are not getting off there very easily that’s needs a slow down oh man heading OB such a good line just couldn’t put the brakes on in time yeah

He just hit that down slope if he hits after the down slope and doesn’t get that little jolt of energy I think he’ll be he would have been fine this is the line I was expecting the high over the swing okay into the circle going to be left

With that put that he hasn’t been liking see if we can get a one hopper right here as long as this isn’t too fast I think it’s so good oh man I think I don’t think the tree hurt him that much in the end I mean you think maybe

It’ll be deep I think yeah I don’t think he’s going to be any closer than that if he doesn’t hit the tree could have East mhm that would have been a lot closer correct so this is that one that goes in sometimes apparently here he goes no way wow another great

Effort this just in Joseph Anderson good at disc golf yeah it’s starting to look that way finally getting enough data good save very nice composed putt right in the middle too great Pace on that putt I that’s what I love about his stroke is it’s like a calm stroke

Absolutely it’s not coming in there with the fire it’s not coming in too slow it’s not Lobby it’s a it’s a little more of a throwback aler alert yeah absolutely it’s a little more of a throwback putt though you know compared to the new breed that we’re seeing the ganons Even

Rick You Know M yeah he’s he’s been a hammer hutter for a while Rick can switch up his style unlike most players he’s able to kind of go with a pushy or a spin putt depending on the conditions but yeah nass has enough firmness behind his putt that he can

Putt from distance yet the disc will still come in soft which is a very it’s an incredible combination if you kind of nose up so it’s kind of pushing up and then coming down with a little speed it’s I think it has a little that mared

Mared style to it Cole on fire guys is six under through seven and he is in a perfect position on the difficult whole six this is just such a treacherous drive you hit anything I even if you don’t hit anything you’re not guaranteed to have a lane no not at all but you’re

You’re loving it if you don’t hit anything you’re loving it assuming you didn’t just pitch it op remember coming off of a 12 under last round Cole going I Kyle going heer cool surprised we haven’t seen this play more well you could just rethrow you could just go

Right over there if you hit something and just retry which is so dangerous on this hole I don’t see in double bogey pretty much he did get the green flag though okay call after the great t-shot has to go to a knee and throw a flex forehand

And he pushes this one ooh good kick deep but it Forward kicks and I think that’s his disc up ahead just outside the circle oh my goodness KY Klein wow over the top higher play that had to be 60 to 65 ft yeah well this one’s 50

It was way closer it looked like to me oh well Taps that one in and he is still six under through six so he’s 18 under through 24 holes yeah last 24 holes that’s crazy and moving up to Hole seven Kyle going the interesting outside anher play

We’ve seen a lot of players go with the inside flip up to the right side of that tree in the middle K electing to go Annie looks like this will be a similar line and that is just a thing of be thank five under through seven in the

Rain and seven under through S in the rain for Kyle and Cole getting things done on thir Guard that lead is still at one for nichos there are a slew of other players right there behind him if he makes the smallest error whole five par 4 520 we’ve already seen how to play this one you’re going to want to go big Heiser 90 mph see if

You can float it up over all this OB skip it left find Circle one and just tap home and Eagle we’ve already seen that twice today you know Ganon Burr’s going to try it realistically what do you think 75 miles hour necessary for a player to be able to reach this hole

That feels likely but I don’t really keep up on the the speed stats it’s only 495 I think to the hole itself lasered directly straight line from the T Mio electing to go with the forehand bailout safe shot and so does Nikos I see everybody kind of taking

This out over the OB I like this play like don’t come anywhere near the OB if you’re going to play the sidearm cuz even if you hit one of those trees you’re left with 280 sure right into a hillside yeah there’s not a lot of incentive to push no ganon’s got this

One plenty of distance can it track a left enough that’s where that height that you see with Anthony umbrella with Co ralin that gets him that swing all the way back to the basket still a great Drive how do you how do you get that height JM can you explain to the

Audience how they can just get the height I don’t you’re not being factious are you no I’m okay I mean I think a lower reach born with it I mean it takes a lot of commitment the higher you go the scarier the the distance to get to the basket so it

Takes a lot of commitment most of these guys have the distance to get there it’s just a matter of are you willing to risk it right cuz I feel like when they watch these guys play it’s just like oh yeah they’re just doing it it you know it

This hole is such an easy three that you’re risking losing an very easy stroke just to gain just one stroke so you have to factor that in when you’re on the T box is it worth it because you know if someone lays up they’re more than likely going to get the three

The play on tour is just too good he’s going to have to go around this tree I was worried about that squared it up unfortunately can he get the putter hot here wow so close change of pace and change of angle and he nearly gets it

Right MOS sticks that one in the heart Anthony Bella Ben Wolf cver dollan and Evan Smith the only Eagles on the day on whole five Ben Wolf is the brother of Jake wolf who had that remarkable tomahawk tomahawk Eagle on hole 11 round one but Ben is a

Lefty trying to think how he Lefty sidearm so think about getting this hole with a lefty sidearm I don’t do not want to that is crazy especially for such a nerdy play honestly you got to think about that too well not if you’re Lefty it’s cool oh

It’s back to it’s just all the discs that go left at the end cool yeah got it it’s a spin Direction thing and we get a starf frame even though it wasn’t exactly what gon was looking for the most predictable starf frame on tour perhaps is whole five Into the woods with hole six Par Four 535 ft mandatory treat on the right out of bounds line on the right 57 trees in the middle more pretty tricky hole you’re going to need to go straight with your t-shot nice and low try to drift it maybe a little right if you’re brave

Enough and then from there it’s like a for scramble which I don’t mind it just it requires creativity it’s not going to be just a straight stock shot that you might use on other holes you’re going to need to throw some weird stability some weird angle to try to get up there and

Navigate this one oh that was so close to being clean Mato just catching the rightmost tree in that cluster on the left side of the Gap m Lo a very similar tree forcing the Annie I like the Annie out of the hand if you’re going the inside backhand

Turnover I think any disc that hits a tree on this hole you just pretty much have to thank your lucky stars that didn’t kick right yes cuz every right kick is out of bounds but everybody here so far either fell straight down or a little bit unlucky for Ganon he kicked

Pretty hard left but that’s still preferable to that that right side and Joey just smoothing his way down the Fairway nothing remarkable but in play in the middle looks like a wide rim driver here I’m not sure about this this gets real scary on the Hop

Side I don’t I don’t know about the choice to go high speed from way back there you’re just not getting the there’s no way so it’s it’s a highrisk move there genon looking out of sorts early and with so many players playing so well he just really can’t afford to

Have any more mistakes at this point and NEOS short of the preferred Landing Zone at this point you’re just there’s the kick you hate hoping that you don’t do something like that Straight Out of Bounds and he’s going to be in a tough spot one of the things

When you’re playing in these conditions as well is the tackiness is tough to control with the sidearm and I think we can all agree on that is I saw a lot of people from that same spot typically that’s hit your spot no problem but when there’s a little moisture in the air you

Get a little extra grip and that’s what it looked like to me right there like he just held on to it a little bit too much which you’re not used to scene I like the way that Joey kind of crouches into his throw like he just kind of it’s like

Crouching Tiger Hidden buckets like he just kind of sneaks up on the shot and he stays low throughout the the pullback and the release I don’t know what maro’s trying to do here but I of those I like it now good yeah just the force over all

The way kind of like backhand mimic line but you can still get some more Skip and this is short range but enough trees in the way that actually is kind of tricky oh I messed up that’s that’s the one it’s you have to shape a very awkward shape from that spot to avoid

Those and Ganon once again he’s going to be putting the putter to the test and nelos is going to take a double bogey here on six one of the easiest quickest things you can do on this course is double bogey whole six we’re going to have a new leader that’s for

Sure Ado way too high that’s going to be a bogey for him meanwhile Joey with an obstructed straddle putt this would be for birdie and maybe not even possible I those trees everything was just completely in his way I’m kind of worried about his second putt right there it’s awkward little straddler how

About this part right here that is the stroke we’re used to seeing kept the nose A Little More Level how do you make it in the tree put he putts that hard yeah okay this is actually way closer than I thought a good par going to be gaining

Strokes on the entire card and most of the field uneven split between pars and overpar strokes at 43 perc each only 14 birdies C Klein second shot on hole nine now this is a right to left cross win this is the hardest win to throw in

On this hole and he almost Le a little bit I was worried right away scary the whole time yeah he he like it either yeah he knows it I do like the mid-range play if you have the power from back here cuz then you can put it on Heiser

And you don’t have to worry about the drift left drift right scenario and safe for Cole but back edge of C2 is he going to make another big one not this time at this point he’s almost got to get all of them like coming in he’s got to really go super low

Especially considering as germ alluded to at the open and we’re just playing a back six exactly yeah time runs out a little quicker woo Kyle seven under on the front nine that’s exactly what he needs to do to get himself into contention Joey hanging strong Looking at seven Par 3 305 absolutely evil tree right here in the middle got to pick a side on that one and if you don’t you’re looking at a very likely bogey chance you’re kicking one way or the other it’s going to be difficult we’ve seen some great backhand turnovers

Forehand Flex also a viable option here I like trees in the middle that are early like this that force a beautiful shot like this like Joey had to make a conscious decision off the tea force anheiser or Heiser flip play I don’t like them halfway down the Fairway where it’s a little bit

More I don’t know punishing of the good shots I completely agree with you I think that it’s at a really nice distance right there a little bit shorter I think it’s a little too too short and if it’s farther I think it’s a little too but for a 300t shot they did

A really good job of putting it at the breaking point that you need to have a fair shape to get into the hole woo just around it yeah I think it’s a good tree as well I just don’t think we need OB on this hole yeah sure sure for how much OB

There is on this hole I didn’t see a lot of people going it the only time I saw it was direct hit to the evil tree and then straight right OB Y and I just feel like you’ve been punished enough mhm we don’t need a penalty you’re over there

And look look at the line like on that left side there’s nothing over there could be a speed of play decision I don’t know yeah sure I just protect in the uh The Spectator area nichas with an early tree he’s got this for the birdie

Not going to heer back in time a little bit over the top as well and he’s got a little bit of comeback it’s a lot a lot of come back yeah sure when you just got a double Bogey and lost your lead it’s a lot that’s for sure come on

Hop yes oh that was a solid one that was the best one yet he kind of pulled the feet up get it he’s pulling the feet up lean into it Mato I can’t right now that just made my day kind of makes the height look bigger

When you pull the knees in really get the elevation oh that was perfect solid comeback butt for nass momentarily stops the bleeding Canon wants a few putts at that range to just kind of hammer him home and get that putting stroke back maybe he got it sorted out on ho

Six and a textbook birdie for Joey buckets who’s just always bringing out a new bucket cap folks Joey has a lot of birdies onto the island hole number 10 with kleene I love this needs to be slow and it oh my goodness boy is slow enough to stay in bounds nearly Aces

It I thought that was it it’s early in the season I know that we’re only in the third event 18 tournaments this season I still think Kyle Klein might be my favorite for player of the year I just I like the way that he is dedicating himself to the

Sport I like his forehand his backand and his putt I mean what else do you need he’s going to I think he’s a top three lock as long as everything Health provided I think one thing that you might need and I think it’s something he has is a little chip

On his shoulder from what he perceives as sort of a a disrespect in in terms of where people rank him and I think I’ve been guilty of it before too I think I don’t think he comes to mind as a top three guy for everybody and I but I

Think you’re right that and I think that Chip is going to help him this year because I think he’s got something to prove he doesn’t want anybody forgetting about him so if I want to if I want him to prove me right then I need to say
