If you cut your toenail Too Short sometimes the nail will push into the skin as it grows eventually curving down into your toe and over time the surrounding skin can become swollen and infected making it painful to walk a doctor will often cut off the curved
Part of the nail so it can grow back correctly but if it’s severe enough sometimes the whole nail will have to be removed

THATS HAPPENING TO ME RIGHT NOW! ITS CUT AND ITS DUG IN SO DEEP AND IT HURTS TO WEAR SOCKS! I went to the doctor to get it removed and he said it my fault and he’s not gonna cut it out because I need to learn to fix my own problems. then proceeds to yank my skin back to show my mother the curing toe nail and it split the corner of my toe open and I was literally SCREAMING!. He then tells me ‘don’t pick ur nails and be responsible!” Even tho I’m 18- he didn’t give me anything after splitting my toe open and told me to go home and let it grow.

You dont have to remove the whole toe nail. I had this issue in both of my toes. You just need to remove the affected part of the nail from the root. Although it takes time to heal but once operated, you wont have any issues.

Dr told me it had nothing to do with cutting it too short it just grows that way on certain people and needs cut back
