Well that restructure job post Jurgen Klo is such a huge one and it really needed somebody familiar with the club who understands its culture its processes the mechanisms that make it sustainable and successful and there’s no better person than Michael Edwards now as I explained in my story on

Saturday this is a Fenway Sports Group appointment so the role itself is larger than just Liverpool and my understanding is that Edwards would be fsg’s pointman on all football matters the highest decision maker in terms of football now what he has to do immediately is appoint

A sporting director we expect that to be Richard Hughes whose exit was confirmed by Bournemouth he also leads the search for kops replacement where we know jabbi Alonzo is the outstanding candidate and I think what happens now is there’s just the sense of comfort at the club because

You have a guy who’s so skilled at finding a the perfect manager for Liverpool because he’s done that before with klopp and who knows how the structures need to operate now why is this being viewed as such a significant uh appointment well you just have to look at the roles that Edwards has

Already turned down Chelsea offered him the chance to be their CEO of football he wasn’t interested Manchester United wanted him to come in uh and restructure the club he turned that down PSG and Real Madrid also made checks on his willingness to be a sporting director again he wasn’t interested in that and

There’s a lot of praise for the great recruitment work Edwards did at Liverpool but I think that undersells him a bit cuz there was so much more to him he hired Ian Graham and set up Liverpool’s esteemed uh research department and really empowered them the AXA training facility which is just

World class he ran point on that as well he spent lots of time at salsburg uh and their academy uh infrastructure provided the inspiration for Liverpool’s new facility so yeah quite an esteemed operator and one that Liverpool will be delighted is back and Melissa you touched on it there but just explain a

Little bit more in terms of what this is going to mean for their new manager search well off the back it offers Clarity like I mentioned it offers a sense of comfort because you have a guy who’s he just understands what Liverpool Football Club is about and what kind of

Profile stylistically in terms of the football they offer in terms of the character in terms of the restrictions they would be working under can deliver that sustainable success now if you’re one of the candidates look Liverpool are looking at you’re seeing this guy and you know that he has the ability to

Equip a manager with the right tools you’re thinking of players Roberto firmino Muhammad Salah s man think of how they took that club football to the next level you’ve got a guy who delivers in terms of infrastructure like I mentioned the training facility the upgrades that we’ve seen to anfield so

You know that the the head of football is going to service you as a manager with everything that you need to best do your job you also have a a Clarity of mind on who you’re going to be working under and working with and you’ll get a

Lot of good feedback from around the world of football on this guy you know there’s a reason why the top clubs around Europe were circling for him after he left Liverpool okay Melissa thank you very much for now

  1. Hiring klopp was not a 'Genius' appointment. Every man and hid dog were pointing Liverpool to Klopp's direction when Liverpool looked like making a change from Rodgers.

  2. The timing of this is actually perfect. Just before the international break where Edwards could make first contact with Xabi Alonso

  3. That’s not Micheal edwards in the thumbnail 💀💀

Edit: lol they finally fixed it

Edit edit: they changed it again??

  4. Wheres the "FSG out" brigade now? Other clubs would bite our hands off to have FSG and the business they've done since taking over. From Klopp and now Edwards again to everything in between. People wanting FSG out in slightly rough times (i.e. last season) dont know what they're asking for.

  5. Flicking off Chelskis and Mancs just makes it even better as they can't say he is not good. 😂😂😂

  6. what is it about this a reporter sky love? listening to her talk is like nails on a chalkboard never flows naturally like all the other reporters its like the hiring manager was a guy and she skipped the queue of talent pool for her looks more then anything lol

  7. Michael Edwards is brilliant and I should be more enthusiastic about his return. But I have gotten a bit concerned about his demands to return. The level of power he demanded could turn out to be too much. I hope this does not turn out that he wants to show how special he is by finding some obscure manager, just to prove a point about him being different and special.

  8. All the books in background are strategically place, so that the title is readable. It's more of a prop, real readers have messy bookshelves .😇

  9. Turning down the opportunity to be CEO of Football at Chealsea and United, then Sporting Director at PSG and Real Madrid sounds like a big opportunity missed for him but here he is back at Liverpool FC.

  10. All those football sportsman auto biography books 📚
She studied hard to get the job
    Nothing to do with diversity
