Since the start of November only brenford have lost more Premier League away games the Newcastle so defeats coming at Bournemouth Everton Tottenham Lon Liverpool Arsenal and last night conceding goals is a bit of a problem as well on the road let’s have a look at this TW look at that 32 goals conceded

The most away from home joint with Sheffield United Lon have an away match of course mid week but a real concern and of course they’ve missed the number of Defenders being injured and Nick Pope’s being a huge loss and any chances of European football next season their way form will certainly have to

Improve yeah those are worrying Trends and statistics aren’t they there’s two ways of looking at this isn’t there that first of all Newcastle are going backwards or that they so overachieved last season that now they’re beginning to find their feet and inevit will settle down and they’ll move

Forward once again so is Eddie how given Credit in the bank for last season or is pressure mounting on him I think he certainly should have credit in the bank from last season you know to qualify for the Champions League in the way that they did you know with the joint best

Defense in the league let’s remember as well like it has been quite a drop off in that sense at the back um so first of all I think Eddie how does Serve credit in the bank given that you know yeah they were you know for the Champions

League ahead of schedule um but equally yeah it has been quite a drop off at the same time there are meating factors you know they’ve been without Nick Pope Joe Linton Joe willick Sven botman Harvey Barnes Callum Wilson Alexander isach all for significant portions of this season

The the squad is not quite deep enough yet for them to be able to deal with you know that amount um of absences um and so in some ways it’s not surprising to see how inconsistent they’ve been this season especially when they were having to juggle Champions League football in

The first half of the campaign having said that you know I think Eddie how will be really really Keen to finish in the top half because they do finish in the bottom half than that is quite a big drop off and if the club if the club’s

Owners are to um invest more in this squad then given the caliber of managers who are available this summer I wouldn’t be surprised if they became a little bit tempted um to look at their options in that sense yeah it’ll be interesting I think where they finished this season is

Also quite Cru that we’ve seen them sort of coming close to if not falling foul of PSR rules as well so it does feel like they need to sell a top player potentially this summer or at least in the next couple of windows so they’re

Not going to be able to attct to the biggest price that they could possibly do that if the players and the team aren’t performing as you expect and they’ve only lost sorry only won four of their last 14 League games now they’re sort of mared in or marooned in mid mid

Table I should say and the teams around them in that mid table are actually in better form than them as well so there are met factors but it has definitely been a disappointing step back particularly defensively as Mikey says

  1. Backwards? Nah, they've just returned to their more regular level. Last season was an anomaly, Newcastle overperformed while also enjoying Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea all having poor seasons. Moreover this season they had to deal with European fixtures as well as a sizable injury list. Last season they achieved over the odds, this season they're where you'd expect them to be.

  2. They overperformed last season, and haven't improved their squad, in that Tonali and Barnes, their two big signings, have been out all season. It will take time to be consistently at the top table. The media are shameless.

  3. Eddie Howe's managerial honeymoon is over, as he previously had at his previous clubs. The Saudis should hire someone with better vision and tactical knowledge next time

  4. The overachieved last season, the deserved it but factors helped, Lihad a huge injury crisis finishing 5th, Chelsea collapsed as did Spurs thus leaving room for them to have the season the did

  5. Sky are like that member of the family that you dread coming round 😂 everything is fine until your having a bad run of luck

  6. Who are these people? They are like two middle class blokes down the pub who you actively avoid talking to because they just bore the pants off you. This grey, charmless echo chamber journalism of talking much saying little is devoid of depth to the point you just want to disengage with the entire game itself. Sky, you can do better

  7. Look at who was playimg the games for us last season and compare it to this season and there is your answer.
Pope, Botman, Willock, Joelinton, Wilson pretty much were available all last season yet have missed massive amounts of this one. We sold Maxi and his replacement Barnes again has been missing

Add in to that the extra games and other teams (Liverpool, Villa, Spurs) getting their act together this was inevitable

  8. It's noticeable that them and Brighton have struggled juggling European footy with league games. They have suffered with a lot of injuries too to be fair. Plus Liverpool, Spurs etc have improved.

  9. Not sure they’ve gone backwards Many of there current squad are still from there championship dats

  10. Newcastle have a smaller squad than other teams so just a few injuries can be devastating it didnt help with saint maximin leaving and the medical team showing their real treatment on gordan
