Was a he was a free agent I had no idea he played for the Niners last year had three and a half sacks Kevin three and a half sacks Marcus it had I had someone had a jog my memory that Marcus Daven for played for the Vikings last year first

Round picks doing their like prove it year and not proving it is an incredible genre it is no and and uh this this feral guy had 28 tackles three and a half sex look I can tell you a lot about him I have five tabs right now open on

With the Raiders yesterday I’m gonna get to them a little bit later were people are now viewing these plans as like if you have a plan it’s your every move is good if you don’t have a plan every move is bad and and so like yesterday when the Raiders signed Christian Wilkins

Everybody was like well what’s their plan quarterback and it’s like well they okay so they don’t have like they’re gonna either they’re going to have one later in the afternoon which they did or they’re going to have a short-term one and a longterm one but they’re also just

Trying to become a better team you don’t just sit there and just be like well we don’t have a quarterback so we’re just we’re gonna field uh we’re gonna tank we’re gonna do a major league and just tank and lose a historic number of games

Um so it was very weird to process I’ll put it to you because there’s a lot of degrees here um what is your team that help the most yesterday well I mean it’s hard not to say the Falcons because uh you know Kur cousins uh so I’ll just

I’ll just go with the easy one the low hanging fruit look this team as we know has the infrastructure to be really good offensively like they’ve invested a lot of draft capital in really good offensive players they just never had anything close to a viable quarterback

And I I really do like looked at the metrics I’ve looked I’ve looked at it all Kevin and I believe that Desmond Ritter is not a starting caliber so I I mean this is this is I said this yesterday on on uh on Instagram or so one one of the I was on

So many social media channels I can’t even remember uh you flooded The Zone yeah yes yes flooding The Zone the people need their content and and I I said it’s hard it’s hard to exaggerate the kind of upgrade that the Falcons get with with cousins with a healthy cousins

I know people say oh he’s done because the Achilles I don’t I don’t buy that I don’t I I push back on that a little bit uh but if he if he’s back and if he’s healthy at the start of the season this is a massive upgrade and it instantly

Like unlocks guys who have been obviously disappointing from fantasy perspective disappointing from a real perspective it unlocks all those guys including obviously Drake Clinton and Kyle Pitts I’m super excited I think the Falcons uh Contender I don’t know I mean definitely top four in the NFC NFC NFC

South favorite oh yeah sure sure definitely I mean by by a I also like that that division is so crappy I I I came out and said that yesterday and they’re like yeah that doesn’t mean anything and it’s like well it is your division it’s your immediate goal but

The division is so crappy that everyone dismisses that as a worthy like superlative everyone’s like oh okay oh oh oh you’re gonna win your division you’re gonna get a home playoff game oh big deal that’s cute buddy yeah right I mean they if they win 10 games

They’ll win the division by four so it’ll be F the clinch on September 30th right right and the Falcons have locked up a buy locked up the two seed no um I I all respect to to the Bucks who obviously played out of their mind last year no respect to the Saints

No we’re doing all respect to the bucks no respect to the Saints or the Panthers neither of whom will be winning game this year the Saints a team that has no plan no it never has a plan no plan they just they just kind of they just kind of

Them had to take pay cuts one being Von Miller yeah so it’s almost like spending $80 million in free agency historically been very bad unless it’s like an absolute stud and like even like when IND damak Su reaches for agency it doesn’t really work out like it it’s

It’s more about augmenting now I flipped on free agency I used to think that like I remember like the Packers had like one year they had like two guys who weren’t drafted in their building and it was Julius Peppers and Charles Woodson and like that was one way but like now

You have to augment your draft like drafting is not enough that’s what Jerry Jones is doing that’s why they they top out in divisional round every year um you have to augment it with talent but it’s more of like the guys making $6 million the year who were just plucking

Kind of funny a fantasy guy talking about Andrew van gingle to the Vikings but van GLE was a was like a key part of that defense down the stretch in Miami and then of course the big one is losing Robert hunt to Carolina he signs a huge

Deal with the Panthers uh I mean the thing about losing Robert Hunt is that it might make it more difficult to give Tua the absolutely perfect environment he requires to succeed and I I wrote about this on the NBC Sports site uh two weeks ago if folks want to check it out

Uh is is that no quarterback faed less pressure last year than Tua and anytime he did face pressure he collapsed he was very very bad against pressure and that goes back before Mike McDaniel okay so so losing your best offensive lineman your best uh pass blocker I think I

To let Russ Cook and it was a disaster Arthur Smith under no circumstances will let Russ Cook and I think that’s a good thing I think this this signing makes all the sense Arthur Smith taking the same posture he took with using his good players in Atlanta with letting Russell

Wilson do anything special is actually GNA be very effective very effective just like weirdly defiant at the podium when people say like hey you thought about letting Russell Wilson do something interesting so excuse me yeah excuse me did you see what happened last time no have you seen it have you seen

Very he’s just very indecisive like I used to watch him at practice and I guess I could still watch him at practice but like every time I go to practice it’s like it just felt like he wasn’t firing the ball a lot he hesitated a lot these guys and and we’ve

I’ve talked about this show before these guys just hold on to the ball forever I think because they’re just not this generation is not used to just getting slammed into the turf and so they just back there just like just like patting the ball at the goal line and it’s like

Zoomers will never understand being just driven straight into the some concrete AstroTurf and being bullied that way into throwing the ball in 1.8 seconds so Kenny pickets back there patting the ball and then going all it was it was it was tough to watch I I did not see a lot

Of evidence that Kenny pick going to turn this around I I do want to point out Russ Russ was third in completion rate overe expected last year like there are some metrics that point to him being okay being just perfectly fine as a starting quarterback completely agree like the

14th best quarterback sure which is a lot better than Kenny pick um all right my my favorite and I know this this is chalk but Christian Wilkins well and I mentioned the the big money signings the other day from how they didn’t work two years ago a lot of that was giving $80

Million to guys who worth $40 million and you see the market like I think Greg Rosenthal made the point yesterday that the reason guards uh make so much money is because they actually reach free agency because no one’s franchising them like they’re they everybody takes care of their

Tackles like in near like the day they’re extension eligible at the end of their third year um and quarterback obviously nobody except Kirk Cousins ever reaches the open market and he does it every three years um maybe Dak will next year but um I think paying significant money for somebody you know

Is going to be awesome is probably a good idea especially with the rising cap so Christian Wilkins uh the pressure numbers were great uh he had more double team pressures which means obviously pressures when double teamed than the entire defensive tackle core of the Raiders did last year I think he had 18

Last year um he’s a beast that’s scientific term he’s the Beast he’s a beast he might be the Beast um and so I think putting that on a dline with Max Crosby um letting Tyree Wilson develop I don’t again every what’s the plan at quarterback well the plan at quarterback

Is to have a defense good enough that takes the pressure off the decision of quarterback and I don’t think those two things are are at odds in any way so I I I quite love the Christian wilin signing yeah I did uh notice at the end of the

Season that the Raiders had one of the lowest pressure rates in the league and I was surprised you know because you think of Max Crosby constantly in quarterback’s faces and but yeah I mean it if if this if this defense can be a top half defense which they were at the

End of last year I mean they they they actually did kind of lock down opponents we all remember the Christmas day uh game against against Kansas City uh then then they don’t have to ask much of their quarterback who I believe is Gardner mchu

Now so you like The Gardener M I do and you know I have a bunch of comparison stats between him and Aiden oconnell and instead of boring the folks with that I’ll just say this it appears that mu’s statistical profiles suggest that he will bring more variance to the Raiders

Offense and yes that sometimes will mean some like boneheaded picks in triple coverage when he’s trying to force feed Devonte Adams his 20th Target of the game but it also means you know long touchdowns really impressive throws he had some of those last year in Indianapolis

Uh he’s much more willing to go down field than Aiden oconnell is according to uh pff’s stats from 2023 Aiden oconnell was bottom three in almost every quarterback metric last year I think he he’s a decent enough backup but he is no way in no way a starter I think

Muu brings the sort that sort of variance like I said to a team that’s going to need it like in order to compete in the AFC at all for like for a postseason spot they’re going to have to get a little crazy on offense and they’re going to have to try to score

Points against these teams that are just you know bulldozing their way through the Raiders year in and year out I think mchu can do that and mchu targeted Michael Pitman last year on 29% of Michael pitman’s routes okay the seventh highest rate in the league uh I think that he will understand the

Assignment in Vegas which is to never look away from Devonte Adams and and don’t ever don’t ever 420 targets how how many times the guy thr throw throw in a season like probably like 400 right yeah around there yeah all all to Devonte and yeah I mean every
