Move Better, Swing Better, Play Better.

Are you struggling with solid contact do you feel like you’re always stuck in your swing you’re you’re on your back foot and you’re always topping or hitting behind the ball and you’re kind of struggling to get to your finish position and the results just aren’t consistent well there’s a good chance

You’re sliding in your swing rather than turning I’m going to show you a simple practice sequence you can do that help eliminate That now I’ve got a foam roller here but you can use a chair you can use a golf bag you can take an alignment stick and stick it in the ground on the Range you just want to have something to give you some feedback for how you’re moving so

I’m going to first start with the back swing position I’m going to take my stats going to position this foam roller just you know toward my trail heel going to set up you can see there’s a bit of a gap there I’m going to rotate back and I

Don’t want to brush this as I go back I don’t want to do this I slid I haven’t turned when I did that so now I’m over here too far on my trail side my back side when I’m swinging I’m going to swing from the back foot here like this

It’s going to be hard to get back over here to the lead side and you’re you’re going to end up hitting behind the ball or top of your ball what I want to do when I swinging back I’m going to rotate back get this thing set

Here I’m going to rotate back turning my chest is turning away from the target turning my back away from the Target and you can see how my hip moves away from this guide here I’m turning actually back this way rather than sliding so this way I’m making more of a coil and

Pivot my hips haven’t slid and it’s easier how to rotate back through to the lead side to strike the golf ball and then on the forward swing going to take my stance going to position it up my left heel here now it’s going to act as a guide where I’m sliding coming forward

What’s happening I’m hitting this I’m not turning again I’m going to get stuck and I’m going to fall back here I’m going to put it up here set rotate back rotate through and I just want to turn against that and brush it here now against my lead

Side going to make a practice swing I don’t want to hit it rotate back rotate through just turn against it this way I’m getting good rotation coming through and I’ll be able to rotate into my lead foot shifting my weight and pressure forward to strike the golf ball

Solidwood so to give that a try practice back and forth first without the ball and then incorporate it with the golf ball for

  1. Hi, Barry. Thank you for your terrific insights. I agree totally with your backswing hip coil movement, but I have Mr. Hogan executing a big lateral movement left during the downswing that does not resemble a "turn" at all.
