To go for the BR so it just shows you I mean listen it just shows you that right up to the last minute there’s all sorts of presses that play actually not just the trainer we always assume the trainer decides everything often there’ll be owners who pay the bills or say well no

We want to go for the the grade one not the handicap even if the for students would say she the horse has got more chance of winning the ultimate even more chance of prize money in the in the brand Advisory well yeah and there’s loads of different preferences I mean

Certain um trainers uh want winners you say why are you going for this 20 run handicap because we we’re the best horse in this handicap and I want to win the race rather than finish second or third in a grade one other owners might be completely the opposite you also might

Have some trainers KS who are very headstrong they say you have a horse with me I make the decisions some trainers go you you you pay if you pay the entry fees and you pay the training fees then crack home I’ll run wherever yeah absolutely it’s it’s a difficult

One isn’t it I mean you remember I years ago I mean Rich Richie claimed he wasn’t allowed to run any power in the champion hle when he uh when there was talk for him doing it like you know it was you know hurcan flyes race and that was it

And then the following year they did uh and I’m sure there are plenty of owners who will absolutely put their foot down I mean I don’t blame them for doing so but you know you can make wrong decisions all have our opinions over what the decisions are w’t we really

Actually a good example do you remember when elado Allen ran in the arle not the grand annual and everyone but he came second in that arle of course in Joe’s eyes and the owner’s eyes Terry War’s eyes they’d come second in the grade one to to shishkin yeah whereas obviously

We’re all saying well that R would have could have won the grand Daniel but may not have done because grandel was such a fierce race with 20 R there no guarante absolutely right so anyway but at least now you know the declared Fields you can actually look at you know baring non

Runners on the day you know what you’re going to be paced with which is great anyway thanks to to Paul and Simon for joining me here in the in the studio um I mean I did hope I did I did think maybe because it’s cheltam maybe because

We’re not in London that Tom seagull might leave the comfort of his own home um but I think he probably made the right decision Tom how you doing I’m good thanks Ross yeah no I obviously didn’t get the gig you boys uh have the nice look at those sofas you’re on my

Chance whatsoever uh Tom Right we’ve um yeah we’ve we’ve chatted we’ve we’ve tipped how how’s your uh how’s your anti poost portfolio looking uh I’m not sure they’re going to be any winners but I got lots of runners I got State man at 4 to one that’s a help I’ve got few

Running in the first couple of races at Big prices Salvador Z I’ve got a few through the week that have chances but only chances it’s it’s really difficult to do these days for us because you as we found out it’s pretty hard to do the two days before isn’t it we don’t know

What’s going to run in each race as you were just discussing so trying to find a runner is sort of half the uh half the battle I’ve managed to I don’t think I’ve had I’ve got that many non-runners that weren’t uh select that I didn’t back uh non-runner bet so hopefully a my

Mate Mozzy or a or a bout of greatness or a ho or if one of those goes in then you got then then it it’s okay but it’s not too bad could be it’s been a lot worse put it like that yeah yeah I mean

A part of the problem you have as well Tom is not only I mean betting anti poost on your own terms where you think oh you know what exactly I’m thinking about that race but you have to specifically dig into a race depending on the publication schedule of the paper

You know I’ve got a couple of half decent tickets but I put the one when I wanted to and when you came to preview in the race those prizes are gone yeah exactly I mean anti poost betting is all about timing isn’t it but you know race

Post a commercial entity isn’t it we try and you know we try and put forward when we’re going to do them so people might buy their paper or go online or whatever and so we so we make it like that obviously it doesn’t suit doesn’t help

Me but it has in the past it’s worked it’s worked okay you know sometimes you can land on one and maybe maybe this you know listen I got statan I’ve got statan running for me at four to one which is uh which is a nice bet now isn’t it but

Uh are you how do you feel about bets because are you almost I know this sounds silly but you get four to one about a one to two shot or something you think oh actually almost would have preferred four to one about a two to one shot because now it’s

Almost the pressure is on you’ve got you’ve got an incredible prize he’s he’s a quote unquote certainty and if the if the antios BET doesn’t come off you’re thinking oh well I mean you know everything went right apart from the result well you can only do what you can

Do though Ross that’s my big motto in life you can only you can only do your best there’s no point worrying about what you can’t control uh statan is now whatever he is one to three and if you backed him at four to one then you know

I think you’re pretty pretty happy with your lot if he doesn’t win he doesn’t win there’s nothing we can do about that no that’s uh very secret Zen Buddhist I feel Tom yeah absolutely C you know when I’m on a bird losing money he just say

Choice you do your best you can you do all your work you know it’s not like we’re not doing any work about it we’re working hard and if you can’t if they don’t win they don’t win race at nce yesterday had a good bet on espan Bella

It fell over never never Falls over it’s never fallen over at n and it fell over at the third when you know and there’s nothing you can do is there you just move on yeah you have to yeah okay well I mean I like it I like

That like that attitude we’ll see how that attitude Stacks up on Friday but for now uh it’s it’s pretty good so I reckon we should probably get stuck in uh to to day one then uh of of the CH Festival 2024 uh and despite the the fun and

Games and the the dancing around the liks of B bur over the past few weeks he obviously goes for the the gallaga now must remember that must remember it’s it’s definitely maybe the and uh the favorite now is of course Train by Willie mulls in the shape of T

Hill at 11 to4 second favorite in Willie Mullins mystical power at 7 to2 uh splitting it up we’ve got Slade at 9-2 Firefox at 6 to1 Joda rep a 15-2 Mr GIF Willie Mullins 11 to1 Asian Master Willie mullings 18 to1 tell the name is 25 to1 and then it’s bigger the rest

With a couple slightly bigger prices in with a squeak uh but with B bur going up against three of his uh uh stable mates in the in the Gallagher and and then four or five Willie mull nois Hurd is in the Albert Bartlet as well and plenty in

The handicaps unsurprisingly he has a very strong hand um ke’s the favorite though Tully Hill if you gone back sort of 12 months to that puncher to Bumper uh I think you would have said oh yeah the first two in that would you know they’ll be on my short list for the

Supreme um obviously a dream to share hasn’t even gone over hurdles and then T Hill gets beat at a short price and looked okay when winning is is made in hurdle and suddenly that race was forgotten about but now we have a favorite off the back of that impressive

Win when he jumped well he looked yeah he looked very impressive um I mean he did get an easy lead that day didn’t he yeah you know and uh you know he jumped well without being pressured I don’t think he’s going to get that without any pressure today that that would be what

Would worry me there’s no surprise he’s become favorite given to Paul town and riding him obviously but you know I’m not massive on him I mean it’s gone from we could have an absolute superstar in the race to the fact that we’ve got a 12 Runner Supreme without a single grade

One winner in it for a start uh so I do think it’s very open um I don’t particular like Ty Hill because I don’t I’m not do you not like the horse or do you not like the price um I don’t like the price uh I don’t like I still don’t

Like his jumping I want to see him do that Under Pressure okay um a little bit of the same with Mr power as a first time Hood because he can be very keen um Willie M seems have got the hood out for a lot of horses y uh this week and he’ll

Be the first of them in a first time Hood he’s you know like I said he’s very keen I think the last winner in a first time hood of the Shon Festival was in 2014 and you know since 2013 they’re three from 37 so they must have been you

Know probably three from three from eight in 2013 and 14 so it’s a strange stat but but I looked at the Mullin stats and he’s about 177% strike rate uh but against a 27% strike rate overall so they’re more likely to win without than with um

I don’t like either yeah fa I would oppose I would oppose both of them I remember speaking of few you know we were a few weeks ago we were saying well youve got a back slay still non no 40 when he was 40s when he I think he was

20s with Co who weren’t non man no bet yes maybe that’s right and it was 14s elsewhere and if he ran here there was never have any chance of been doing that but as I tend to do with these things I talk an awful lot more about things than

Acting on them so you w away feeling pleased with yourself yes yes I’ve told everyone it’s a good price and I a penny yeah fair enough yeah that I mean that is part of the problem with this show you oh yes I made a very good case for

That go oh I backed that at 16s and you go no I didn’t ex about it exactly um he’s a 9-2 shot currently Slade steel um obviously do you think that’s the um the right decision Tom to to go here to I mean we don’t know that he’s gone here

To avoid B bur it might well been the decision anyway yeah I mean I reckon they have because I mean he’s he’s he’s a stayer isn’t he I think uh and clearly they they’ve tried to avoid B bur and thing about you know you want your Supreme

Novice hurdle to as K said to come with a with a with a one one1 profile not beating eight lengths by something that’s running in the Galler or whatever it’s called twice so as much as I like him it’s not the I don’t want him to win

Either I I mean the thing about the hoods is very interesting for me I think Willie Mull’s doing it for a different reason than people normally use hoods for I think he’s doing it for the preliminaries rather than them pulling in the race I think that’s why he’s

Putting the hoods on all these horses because there’s no way it’s it’s crazy they’re all running in the hood I mean the when we get to the last race the first and second favorite are in hoods over three mil six furong you know I don’t know what it is it seems like the

Mullins have got the the hood Gene out to be fair to be fair Tom there was an offer on Amazon exactly of sponsorship has it the only I just saying it’s one though is there if there’s no downside to wearing that hood why wouldn’t you that’s what I’m saying

If there’s Downs is but is there yeah that’s what I’m saying Tom so I be I think it’s an interesting subject to discuss with someone who say because sometimes if it’s something like well put it on anyway because it can’t do any harm but it might eek out something well

So here so here’s there a thought Here’s a thought experiment right most trainers put a hood on a horse who are way too Keen or are getting buzzed up and they’re hoping it helps them to settle most trainers who didn’t have a horse of that nature don’t put a hood on them so

We don’t necessarily know how much a hood affects horses who aren’t crazy Buzzy anyway exactly and what we also don’t know is is are there horses who actually would be hampered by not hearing anything and need the the noise of the crowd and the horses around and

Pretty they do you know so it is that judgment call as to you know what what’s the downside versus the upside I don’t know I because those stats are interesting but I don’t really know what they mean he I mean my laptop has just died here so uh unfortunately the

Batter’s completely gone so apologies to anyone who’s getting in touch because I won’t be able to doesn’t matter how well I can read that that screen uh I can’t um I can’t read it now the batter’s died but I did have a stat with Williams on

In Hood I mean you I dug into a bit more in graded races um and it was he had an aquid profit and it was a 17% strike rate and I think sort of 40 or 50% of them have placed and there’s horses like classical dream um beis stock uh foot

Pad uh there’s one other half decent one as well um that that had gone on a one grade one yeah or grade two racers in first time Hood so yeah but Ross that’s all good stuff but surely he’s doing it to to to for the preliminaries I think

Yeah yeah mean when he raids them in leopard’s down it’s because they pull too hard I think he’s doing it now so that they they don’t get buzzed up in the preliminaries rather than he thinks they’re going to pull hard in the race okay um a couple of things first with

The price boost on screen the Supreme there is there is I mean f if I inide of this race I’m not going to say I like this price because if you look at the stats they do end up sort of pointing to the front to in the market tly Hill or

Mystical power um and you know both both come in with sort of you know ones next to their name um solid form and that so this is a combination of the two s to four if you B them both individually it would work out at around six to five 5

To four so if you if you can’t choose between them 7 to four why not I think it’s a Max 20 pound bet up until the end of the show there is another one actually which is lossy mouth at 4 to five you know she’s 4 to six in the big

Race of the May’s hurdle H we’re going to go four to five lossy mouth for the next hour or 55 minutes whatever we got left on the show okay lovely stuff right uh before I get your selection I’m just going to talk to Holly bit because I I

Keep watching this horse back and thinking that is a supreme horse that is a supreme horse but champagne fever classical dream um you know horse is really coming to his own now I mean people say oh this horse has to improve his jumping the they’re novice hurdlers

And that punches Town run last time out I mean he jumped impeccably and especially the final hurdle he pinged that final hurdle I know he got the Run Race kills but those in behind there was three horses behind him that that hit that final hurdle trying to keep up with

Him and they all clattered through it whereas he pinged it like he just joined in uh the speed figure was fantastic and it’s not the first time I’ve seen a Mullins town in horse and thought he’s not going to get an easy time out in front of sham and everyone else leaves

They do um but again he’s 11 to four now so um Tom what what do you like in the opener well I like T Hill but and I don’t think you’ll get an easy time I think tell her her name’s goingon to go from the go forward Ben poring has been

On record of saying that I think there are a few others that go forward uh I still think he’ll win though T Hill’s going to win like you I I didn’t see the punch down race live and hadn’t seen it for a bit thinking that it was you know

B burn was the horse for this race and then everyone told me he didn’t jump very well and then I watched the race and thought he jumped pretty well he was all right I was expecting him to see him like down on his nose and clattering

Into hurdles wasn’t like that at all uh so I think he’ll win actually I do I’ve come around to it it’s boring and it’s you know it’s Willie allins but he’s got half the field I think they’re pretty pretty sure I mean Patrick Ms has quoted in the paper today saying he works

Better than Bal burn and his bump performs very good if you watch the punches Town bumper again he was cantering all over a dream to share and then got a bit tired late on I don’t think he had the ideal prep for that because he had to miss cheltam I think

He’s gonna win T Hill boring but I think he is no well I mean he says boring but I mean 11 he’s not five to four is he he’s not B bur price as he he’s not I he might be he might be yeah he might be uh

KS me me and me and seagull are being boring uh yeah I’m I’m normally quite boring um come on mate let’s use it up uh I put firef Fox up at the post I still quite like him uh he’s on the drift he jumped really well when he beat by first time

Up didn’t stay at ni uh he’s a bit on the drift he’s got he’s got a bounce back from that I’ve become I have become a little bit interested in Mr GIF lots of talk about him and his the one thing about his win at limrick wasn’t much of

A race but his jumping was electric yeah and I saw a video of him schooling the other day as well and it was again it was electric so he’s really really fast at his urles um they seem to think that he’s got uh that he’s got a big chance

As well and he’s just a bigger price I mean this isn’t a race that I’m going to get heavily involved in at all um because I just don’t know but you know when I do that when when I don’t know if I’m gonna have a bet it’ll be at a

Bigger price yeah okay um Simon yeah I don’t think it’s a super strong supreme but I think you know Tyler Hill and mystical power a solid at the front of Mark I think M mystical power be the one I probably have the win bet on slightly better price one the Moscow fly well

Beautifully Brad Mark Walsh obviously was always going to ride it so Paul tner wouldn’t have had the choice of him and I mean 24 of the last 27 winners of supreme one last time out I do like winning form coming into it five Fox you

You got to make an excuse for him slay still was well beaten so Leake manora arist they the three this man is good but the only this is a a crazy one Asian master I keep hanging off that that Willie Mullin made a real point of

Saying that this is a good horse to amateur is riding him cannot claim Mr Tom Costello son obviously I think of the owner and but it did it slammed better days ahead it was a 136 Horse by 10 length at Love Soft ground on the

Bases that Tom C just has to sit tight and ride and you know just point him who was the horse who um was it second to isra was ridden by an amateur Mighty Moss I can’t remember the name of the rider but hsby oh brilant right hereby

Tom Castello do you know s he’s 6’6 or something is that right is that right he’s huge yeah I saying he should be playing for the Brooklyn Nets not riding at AEL festival with your son yeah at basketball I mean so should you to be F

But he’s been there’s been money for him he was 25 to1 when I left to come here he’s now 18 to one and again it’s I think it’s hard to imagine an am you know winning the supreme but um he be my little he does thing yeah I would give

The uh in the ebf final I think he’s got the strongest hand in Britain on Novis herders everyone thinks he’s not going to like the ground but anry ground was ridiculously soft that day that was like the the song wasn’t it it’s not going to be anything

Like that bad he’s you if it’s if it’s heavy yes but I think if it’s just soft I think he’ll go through it I think he’s going to I think everyone I think he’s going to drift because everyone thinks he won’t handle it but I think he’s a

Really good horse I think he’ll run well yeah I was I mean the other one I was going to mention was favor and Fortune as well obviously that similar form so I think those two could outrun their odds uh I I must say by the way I apologize

Come to the week I mean if he was to suddenly go and win or something it’s amazing how it would flip everything on its head really know I’ve actually gone from thinking I can’t have this horse at all on its form and I think the Irish is

Much better I really hope this horse run runs well though yeah yeah yeah just cuz it’ll put the cat the pidget exactly yeah you’re a big sop I am yeah yeah okay I’ll go tly Hill to to win and SL BL steel Asian master or favor and

Next this should be easy uh 5 to2 GIC Warrior Hunters Yan 5 to1 ill tomp 6 to1 founder 50 13-2 kixo 13-2 jpr 1 n to1 my mate Mozzy 12 to1 Master chewy 16 to1 and bigger the the other Runners here uh again we’ve we you have two types of

Arle you have the the standout arle where you have a horse uh uh I don’t know last year like 160 plus who comes here and really shows himself to be a Class Act and you get at the type of arle where there are seven or eight

Horses who’ve all run to a a similarish level and that’s what we’ve got this year however Tom I do think that level’s pretty high I mean you know gaay what we’ve got 153 154 155 five plus horses all the way down this field here um and they’ve all got huge pluses in the

Column and pretty much everyone’s got at least one huge minus as well uh yeah I think gay Warrior is different class to the rest if I’m honest but we got the big big negative about him round sheltonham I think they’ll send him tomorrow I think if

He’s back to the I think he could jump out to his right and beat this lot that’s my honest opinion I don’t think they’re brilliant the rest of them but I think he could be now obviously K will elaborate on this if he was going the

Other way if it was at Sandown or Kempton or something I think he’d be odds on because I think he’s different class but you do have that worry uh about about about him jumping out to his right and also his terrible performance at the Dublin racing Festival I don’t

To me I think she sets it up for for taking on you made a case for Marie Rock makes a lot of sense I think as Dam’s incredibly solid you know one one a grade one over two and a half miles get the mays um really good placed form

Against good good you know the good uh the boys novices and and she’s coming into it in Great form so I think ashy Diamond incredibly solid yes of course maybe it’s a good good each way play but I think she’s got a genuine chance of winning the well I mean she she’s won

Essentially running off 116 in a handicap I just thought he was big at you know 3340 to one your stomach you you need to get some grubbing yeah is ring in agreement or disagreement sure what it was but you know you know they say the dogs are

Miss manzor race when thei was third I like the second horse carrier Day Blaze or whatever it’s called she completely blew out on her first run she pulled too hard and was horrendous but she ran a lot lot better in that race she split the pair she’s better off at the weights

She was the biggest pricer than by by a long way uh until I probably ruined it for some people but uh I thought she’d run well I just I just thought that that that was the that’s the type of horse that I like in this race one with a bit

Of back class of French bread for starters that’s been running that had some good form in France and uh she is a she isn’t it I think I hope it’s a she I’ve been calling her a she all day long yeah uh I thought she’d run well there

Was plenty I mean I saw I had a look at harsh kill said I also had a look at Latin verse had quite a good look at Latin verse for Sid hosy the timer for the LL win was very good uh very good one by 19 lengths she he he’s by

Postponed who I’m a big fan of as a sire and gets no horses unfortunately but they’re all pretty good and they stay well uh I thought he might run well at a big price he’s top on Racing Post ratings he’s top on top speed figures

Mentioned that that’s been well backed in the last few hours but I thought Milano F it’s not his very obvious favorite you know I was following quite closely when he finished in those third places to badet Road and Soo ran very well but really wants proper soft ground

And I think he’s going to get it tomorrow um and you know he’s off the mark of 12 six yeah he’s got that decent place form okay he was beaten in a fair way but in both races but I think he’ll go very well and and and in the same the

Same form actually that and and Braden fiaa I think it’s called the Jack Jones it’s a good effort than I um but yeah I I I saw him actually the preview evening this week and he couldn’t really you know he couldn’t really explain the musle couldn’t really

Pronounce the name of his horse but he but he but he’s a young trainer on the you know I sort of wanted to run well I know the owner is very old of middletons and but he said he’s really well and he’s obviously runs chelton really well

So I think he’s very hopeful off that Mark that he can go well so they fashy their form lines are they came second or third behind betet Rose I’m probably all in on the same be very right or very wrong with that form line no I think I

Think that’s a good angle with these kind of races that you find the best form and you stick with it but I think you’re on you know you’re on your Jack Jones with that last uh anyway uh okay one more race then on day one of the CH Festival uh

Kilb King 11s hem friends 16s Mr Vango 20 22 to one uh I’m going to turn to you Paul key first because this has the look of one of those races where you where we sit here and we say any of these could win it and then the front to in the

Market Battle it out yeah well I’m definitely in any of these two could win it and any of these could win it and I would be I’m getting stuck into oppos in the front too because because I don’t like either of them I don’t think either of them are guaranteed stay I don’t

Think cor’s cross from jump uh Embassy Gans can run very free I’m not sure he’s only wearing a hood to pacify him because he got carried away um in the hour Bart but last year um he’s soft as well he’s a tail Swisher um he’s inexperienced for this

Race as well yeah I mean I don’t think you need that much experience with this race anymore do you he not going to have any runners does it well no you do apart from um Statler that weird year I think every four or five is the minimum even

Even for now I think uh I mean obviously guy had domain ill wi it last year had eight eight think yeah so well that counts all of them out Ross I don’t think any of them’s had five runs have they no but what I’m saying saying to is

Beat stay away Fay she beat ioko she beat some really good horses at uh anry when she won a grade grade one ground was way too quick for her I thought Ascot last time but she stuck at it well she was only beaten two lengths in the
