RYAN HAYASHI – Episode 54: VERTICAL MENTAL PRINTING – The Psychological Damage Magic Series

This is a routine I created combining what card magicians will recognize as old-school color changes, mental photography, and presto printo, with a musical presentation set to William Joseph’s piano cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters”. Instead of holding the cards parallel to the floor so the spectators are looking down at a table (away from me), or staring at my shoes, I hold the cards upright for the entire routine, framing my eyes and making it look like I am a part of the magic. As far as I know, I am the first magician to post a performance of a printing routine of this style, using a vertical grip for better visibility. This is where the name comes from: MENTAL VERTICAL PRINTING. I started work on this idea in 2010, and now, 10 years later, in 2020, it is performance-ready. Enjoy.
