The Major Champion with the worst Playoff Record on the PGA Tour

This video starts off with the story behind Kevin Kisner breaking his playoff curse at the 2021 Wyndham Championship to avoid breaking Ben Crenshaw’s 0-8 record of having the worst playoff record on the PGA Tour. While that may be a bad record to have for a major champion, fellow great (and arguably top 5 player of all time) Ben Hogan has an even worse record, having lost the highest number of Playoffs, which included losses at the 1942 Masters, 1954 Masters, and 1955 U.S. Open. Tiger Woods on the other hand has been all but dominant, winning 11 of his 12 playoff appearances, including three majors.

Kevin Kisner snapped his 0-5 playoff  record by winning a 6-man playoff at   the 2021 Wyndham Championship.  Before winning that tournament,   he was getting close to having the  biggest negative playoff record on   the PGA Tour, which is a statistic held  by two-time Masters Winner Ben Crenshaw.

Crenshaw lost not 5, not 6, not 7, but  8 tournament playoffs without winning a   single one. His biggest playoff loss came at  the 1979 PGA Championship, where his opponent   David Graham holed two long putts on the first  and second playoff holes to deny Crenshaw a

Potential third major and 20th PGA Tour title. However, even he hasn’t lost the most playoff   events. That record, surprisingly, goes to  Ben Hogan. One of five grand slam winners,   Hogan was known as an intimidating  competitor to play against. Despite this,

He lost 12 of his 20 playoff appearances,  which included losing 3 majors. He still   is 6th in all-time playoff wins, but he is the  only one with a losing record. For reference,   Tiger Woods won 11 of his 12 play-offs,  showing just how dominant of a figure

He was. This puts into perspective how great  it must have felt when part-time commentator
