Austin Eckroat speaks about his expectations heading into a Monday finish at the Cognizant Clasic where he’ll sleep on the lead as a wet PGA National awaits.
Yeah it was just a weird day you know the you know Mother Nature there’s nothing you can do about it but um you know it’s kind of nice I still had a full warm-up session it’s not like I had to you know Rush after the rain delay
And go straight out to plane so it was you know I was able to still get a full warm-up session which was nice Definitely makes it different you know there was I almost didn’t think we were going to play at all today so I kind of
Shut off for a little bit and then I had to get back into competitive mode so you know I I didn’t feel any more nervous but I definitely had more time to think for sure but yeah yeah really happy with how I started you know I kind of felt
Like I was a little shaky at the very beginning um but was able to you know knock in some pars and you know to get the birdie on four and five was great and um really put myself in a good position for tomorrow you know just really that I could handle the situation
Obviously I didn’t come out on top but I played really well um then also you know there’s a lot of guys still in it tomorrow you know kind of how Jason day was it’s not like I’m just trying to beat the guys in the group behind me so
Um and you can see that from guys playing so well today already so I don’t really know if I’ve had a situation like this where I’ve had a lead in over however many holes we’ve played what 63 holes and um I don’t think I’ve ever been in this situation there
