Austin ekro the 25-year-old newly minted winner on the PGA tour after coming out victorious in the 2024 cognizant classic eord has such a great swing and it’s really no surprise for a lot of people that he’s broken through on the PGA tour he had a really great college career

Obviously part of that 2018 OSU team that won the National Championship he won the Walker cup he was a four-year All-American and last year a lot of people forget but he came top 10 at the US Open back in 202 3 so great young golfer awesome golf swing let’s talk

About the golf swing and a few things that you can learn from it to improve your own motion firstly let’s look at the tempo of eek Root’s golf swing this comparatively is one of the faster golf swings on the PGA tour now not only is he fast in the takeaway but he’s also

Fast through the ball ekro can really hit the ball pretty far out there he’s not a small guy but by no means is he one of the bigger guys in the PJ tour stands at 6′ 175 but it’s a very very quick quick golf swing so with quick

Golf swings there are a few things to note for many golfers especially Amer golfers their issue is that they are just a little bit too fast in their takeaway and fast through transition and what that does is it really gets the body out of syn often times the upper

Body will be a little bit slower than the lower body you’ll hit across the ball and hit a slice for someone like eope who practices a ton he can get away with this fast swing and this fast tempo just because he practices so much so

When a lot of people look at some of these PGA Tour swings like Matt Fitzpatrick John ROM and now Austin e root they look at that fast tempo and say hey the faster you take it back the faster you go through the ball that’s not necessarily true actually for most

Amateurs who don’t spend you know five days a week practicing their golf swing the fast golf swing could be to their detriment so it’s not always proper to compare a PGA Tour players motion to the motion of an amateur golfer because the PGA Tour player just spends so much more

Time on their golf swing that being said let’s look at the mve move through transition this is a pretty interesting move to me so there is a little bit of wrist action for ecro he he bows the wrist a little bit um and he comes over plane in transition meaning the plane

That he takes the club away on his downswing is slightly above or higher than that plane and that is conducive to hitting a fade now a lot of golfers with you know faster golf swings they generally rely on a fade a little bit more uh John ROM is kind of the classic

Example of someone who loves to fade the ball because he’s a little bit quick and a little bit over play it is important to note that if you are over playe um for a PJ Tor Pro he’s very barely over play but for someone who is an amateur

Golfer and much more over playan that’s conducive to hitting a like I said earlier a fade but if it gets exaggerated it turns into a slice and it gets very very spinny and steep so if you are over playing in your golf swing great that’s fine just don’t be too far

Over playing I would use this model of of this takeaway that eart has as a really great example of someone who is overplaying but very slightly and this leads to a very nice controllable fade another benefit of ecro being just slightly over play is that if he wants

To hit a draw he doesn’t have to make a ton of Swing changes he just needs to shallow it out a little bit maybe close that club face just a little bit and as we saw throughout the cognizant classic ecro can absolutely turn to that draw

When he wants to he’s he’s pretty solid with both ball flights and that’s because largely he’s fairly neutral on his swing plane another thing that I love about ecro swing is although that takeaway is quick and the swing is quick it doesn’t look like he’s swinging too

Hard it looks like he’s swinging fast I think there’s a big difference in the two swinging hard is someone who stays off balance they’re really just trying to grip it and rip it but someone who swings fast is very efficient in their motions and balance throughout their

Golf swing and finally something that I find pretty interesting about this golf swing is how he doesn’t really get too low throughout the impact positioning we’ve seen a lot of golfers recently especially these younger guys use so much side Bend you know will Al Taurus did it and it actually got him in

Trouble with some back pain Wen Neiman’s playing some great golf he gets very low through the ball this isn’t really the case with Austin ecro he stands up pretty tall at that impact positioning and you know he doesn’t have to leverage the ground and push up on the ground as

Much as some of these other guys because he Swings with such balance and efficiency so he can kind of get away with it so for those of you who don’t really you know load up those legs and explode through the ball like a Rory macroy or Justin Thomas this is a good

Thing to look at through transition as an example of a golf swing that doesn’t really get too low and use that vertical nature of the golf swing he stands up fairly tall and it obviously works for him ecro has a complete swing it’s a balanc swing and when that putter heats

Up I can see him you know putting together a lot more great finishes on the PJ tour I’m curious to see how the rest of his season pans out cuz he’s obviously been off to a hot start and once you break through on the PJ tour with your inaugural Victory sometimes

The floodgates open and the golf swing speaks for itself so I hope that you learned a few things from this golf swing if you have any questions or comments on things that I mentioned or failed to mention please leave them in the comment section down below as always

Thank you all very much for watching play well and take care
