The DP World Tour remains in the continent of Africa for the third week running, with Glendower Golf Club playing host to the Jonsson Workwear Open. Nick Bachem returns to defend his title after he claimed a maiden DP World Tour title at the Jonsson Workwear Open last year. After a slow start to the 2024 Race to Dubai, in which he registered one top 20 in his first eight starts, the 24-year-old is perhaps rediscovering some form after finishing in a tie for fourth at last week’s SDC Championship. Tom McKibbin will also be in the field this week. The Northern Irishman has finished in the top 25 on all five starts he has made since the turn of the year. Most recently claiming a 12T at the SDC Championship last week and finishing 4th at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in February. He’ll be looking to claim his second DP World Tour title having won his first in his rookie season last year. Rikuya Hoshino will also be in South Africa this week. He’ll be looking to find the same form that that won him the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in February. Others to look out for are Dylan Fritelli, Ewen Ferguson and Jordan Smith.

And we are going to begin with the Spaniard Ivan cantero John yeah just a little bit shy of this green not much green to work with but look at this chip straight in the mayor’s office thank you very much that took him four under on

His round next up the tough Par 38 yeah left himself himself a lengthy put and these greens are magnificent no quals here this one tracking oh my goodness is it oh it is five under through eight holes he added a couple more birdies he dropped a

Shot though at the 13th to lie at 6 under par here’s Jac craze fake Tony yeah been around forever hasn’t he Jac and always been a fantastic player that’s for a birdie at nine and six under par 66 great opening day and a beaming smile from crazy fake

To Robin Williams who missed out last week in a playoff at the SDC Championship but he’s won here on the sunshine tour that Victory coming just last October so he’s a man in form and a man with with form on this course look out for Robin Williams this week that’s

A little tap in par at nine and he has gone bogey free in an opening 66 what a start from Robin Williams to keen and davu another South African right up there on the leaderboard this at the eighth very nearly popped it in for a two yeah great hands there and then he

Had this putt dump to for his part to be blemish free knocked it in thank you very much and Keenan dser leads the way after an 8 under pass 64 just the one drop shot that came over at the second hole he’s been in good form

Lately up the hill oh yeah normally the p is Nemesis but not today gosh Tristan Lawrence got away with that one just show the water down the left good angle to come in from oh he’s played that oh he’s played One release Co a bit more that was in was it

Then slly upill he in the perfect position be surprised if he doesn’t make this tracking Dom oh thank you very much putter working wonders today look at that wow eight birdies eight pars there’s really no such thing as a par five M backham if he gets a good

T-shot away on any one of them can’t think of many in the world he can’t reach in two oh wow you know that’s like a for iron and just like thread it down the eye of an needle oh we go three straight in the back door well done Tristan Lawrence

Look at that what a start 3 under through four holes as you saw with Lawrence’s P turns quite a lot beautiful second shots from both of them two Eagles excellent stuff and we think the gomberg’s going to make birdie there as well so they really have taken that hole

Apart cantero at the 18th for closing birdie to tie darit for the lead oh what a finish birdies at 17 and 18 for the Spaniard and like DS round in 64 on day one of the John some work wear open up to the sixth retto second I like his swing Dom Tony very

Good and I like the result as well my goodness the man who’s on a cres of wave 157 to the flag for Ugo just a knock down pitching wedge needs to throw this just past the flag hopefully get some back SP just about like what a great call Super

Shot what a shot my goodness lazy power Nick backham and look at that on a par five able to zip it back by 8 ft back towards the flag unbelievable could be two Eagles in three holes yeah oh we done what you said Dale and that’s an eagle for Nick backham my

Thereo beautiful three there at the 10th I do you wow this is difficult so Jarvis he’s got to keep it very low and there’s water left don’t tug it left and he’s got to chase it up oh and did I say difficult you did that is is that is a startlingly good

Shot come on Casey knock it in this will be some Eagle it’s track in come on hit it yes oh my goodness how good is that Tony how good is that that is that’s borderline outrageous you stay down by the water for the path 312 231 yards of it today

Here’s Casey Jarvis he’s on a roll I think he likes this one boy should he well from 231 yards that is an absolute Corker oh you can hear the bounce nicely oh Perfection textbook copy that one everybody now that’s a bunker method as we go out to friedson his second to

11 that looks like a a good move doesn’t it oh good shot and a seriously friendly bounce nice kuso out of the ra down the slope at 12 and in for none likely birdie too he’s having a really good day isn’t he that is a third straight birdie to

Start the back nine for the Frenchman who’s been in good form over the last month or so oh look at this look at this come on keep going oh that was tracking beautiful shot there strange weather go on go on yes man I think we’re all delighted to see that what a

Power stays at five under oh go on then Oh I thought that was missing right what a pup from Jordan Smith get in there 125 is what’s left for kumberg wind a little bit from right to left for him and that’s a fabulous that could go [Laughter]

In oh wouldn’t that have been something love to see him just grab a birdie or two on the way home reta’s playing partners are going to carry on whil he goes back that’s cuso and that is almost an eagle I thought he’d done it again look he did on

12 Diaga up out of the ball at the front of 15 good Pace good pu and a lovely birdie for Lou Diaga the eyes are going up and down he likes the line and well it’s certainly within 10 or 12 ft excellent stuff from Lawrence brilliant brilliant I that’s going to
