It’s Tuesday afternoon, and that means it’s time for a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to break down everything that’s happening with the Edmonton Oilers.
Kicking off the Tuesday episode of ONR, we got the podcast started with a delicious debate about the Oilers’ deadline plans and whether or not our preferences for what Ken Holland does have changed, given the Oilers’ recent struggles. Would the team be better off to get defensive depth over trying to find additional scoring up front?
Changing gears, we looked back at the last handful of games and discussed how important it was that the Oilers found a way to beat the Kings last night at Rogers Place to halt their three-game losing streak. While it wasn’t necessarily the perfect game, you have to appreciate the way the Oilers kept grinding until eventually wrestling the lead away in the third period to complete the four-point swing.
Next up, we played Dan’s ONR 3v3 game as a preview to tomorrow’s clash with the St. Louis Blues where we all had to pick the best possible starting lineup we could with players that have played on both clubs. What we learned from this exercise is that none of us are all that familiar with the St. Louis Blues’ history, which made this draft even more entertaining than initially expected.

Just quickly the last one because I looked it up hallay against the Flames his 736 there were only two Oilers who played less than that at five on five it was Conor Brown 716 Derrik Ryan 719 despite the fact he played the third least amongst all skaters he was tied
With uh six individual shot attempts in that game are we caring too much about shot attempts as opposed to actual shots on goal I mean he had three shots in that game too which would have been right up there yes I know I think that that’s the I think that’s the rub right
There is that he’s actually getting shots at the net I think that there’s a lot of shots that are coming from this team where it’s wide of the net it’s it’s getting blocked by other by other players and that’s a problem but Holloway is is continuing to drive
Towards the net and and forcing offense where most of these guys in this lineup aren’t see fly they just keep see do the flybys and the the circling around the end the Zone it’s killing them I have the numbers go ahead so Sam Carrick this season has a

And I think that this Oilers team has maybe lost a little bit of that character just from the fact that we’ve got Evander Kane and we’ve got Cory Perry but then after that it’s just kind of whatever and I’m not saying that any team is going to push around the Oilers
With Kane and Perry on the team on the ice or whatever or de har same thing but again it’s just you add that sandpaper that grit that stuff that just comes into the playoffs we’re looking at you know you got the Dallas Stars kind of as
The the the best team on the other in the other division or one of the best teams in the other Division and that team can push you around and I just don’t look at our bottom six and and feel like that’s a a bottom six that’s
Going to stand up to the grind and the the the push around that a Dallas Stars is going to do to you wildest things about Adam hanri that I’m looking at he has played 887 NHL games right now or regular season games only 28 in the playoffs he hasn’t played in the
Playoffs since 2017 2018 when it was a four and out and then he had that one he had the run with the Devils which is like something also somewhat beneficial to have was like a guy who was one of the younger guys on the team that was I guess they weren’t
Even trying to win the was that the six seed that year and just kind of went on a run but like being around the veteran guys and like showing the young guys how to be the young guy I guess on a playoff team I and like wild there’s all these
Rumors yeah that is kind of crazy there’s all these rumor basically Sam G right where he’s just like did never went to the playoffs his career but um there’s always talk about the other those one guys who they can like have long term I know Henri’s 34 there’s
