3.4 THIS IS MARCH!

The best month of the year is here. Boys basketball has sectional champions, Purdue wins at least a share of the Big Ten, Indiana finally looks competent, and Caitlin Clark is college basketball’s all-time leading scorer.

Come on y’all you Got you’re Out Coach’s Corner with Coach heck and the infamous coach Patrick King you’re stuck with me man I’m stuck you are stuck with me I ain’t going anywhere um there’s a lot of people that are jealous of me for sitting here and there’s some people that a little sympathy going on

To the same time there’s more people that are sympathetic to you I’m just saying that much right now Ron you know you’re second in the state and teas when I go talk to turkovic at the scores Pi I say get as many pictures as you can and

You ain’t that good the Scot report said you were pretty good you ain’t that good oh man are you kidding me oh man are you kidding me good evening how H how’s everybody doing out there we are at the great bar Louise uh on a wonderful Monday night the weather

Is phenomenal here in in Northern Indiana like maybe 75 degrees it was warm today supposed to get colder tomorrow and rainy for the the rest of the week maybe but what a nice what a nice tempting uh you know I mean way to head into spring here but we are a long

Way from Spring aren’t we yes we are yes we are we it’s still going to snow we’re just getting teased here but I know a lot of my buddies played golf yesterday on Sunday night and think that you’re playing golf in South Bend on on the first weekend of March that doesn’t that

Doesn’t Happ of no exactly that doesn’t happen we want to thank the black sedan band their bumper music is phenomenal um I just I love their music they they’re out of Birmingham Alabama anybody who watches or listens or hears their music you can pull them up on on YouTube on

Anything and get their information if you if you want them to play you know for any kind of a an event that you might have uh bar Lou again phenomenal great venue as you can see we’re on the second floor we have a nice little

Backdrop of the bar behind us um back in the day you might have seen me and Pat taping a show from behind a bar but we’re we’re we’re grown and we’re mature adults now right we’re on the uh the mature side of the bar now yeah no I

Mean that’s that’s the way it is we’re mature we’re we’re in the family section well we’re we’re I mean we’re we’re pillars of the trying to set a good example yeah yeah so Hey listen we got a great show we we got uh uh one of the sh

Boys who coaches at Avon what is it Matt Matt’s at CC we’re talking to Drew we’re talking to Drew shs tonight he’s the head coach at Avon they won the sectional he he played at bethl just a a great I mean just a great player at

Bethl University we got Eric Gaff on the on the uh show the head coach of South Ben St Joe at about 740 is and we’re going to have um Brady Fischer uh a the best player on the mishala high school basketball team but but let me clarify

That they’re all good players and I don’t think I don’t think that they have they don’t have a star but but Brady did something in the sectional championship game against Riley that a lot of people couldn’t do and we’ll talk about that when he’s on at eight but listen before

We get started let’s let’s talk about uh a couple of our main sponsors Tony lecher with health markets Insurance whether you need help with your health insurance or Medicare it’s time you get the right coverage for the right price call Tony today at 57430 7882 or visit his website at

People and they just do a phenomenal job at a very difficult time in in in family’s lives so we’re rolling man we’re in it I was gonna say got Frick’s driving school you can talk to Doug and jool ly down there if you’ve got children here in the area that are 15

They can get their permits and and call down there and get themselves started on driver’s ed yeah so um you know what if we so if our senior years if we played each other let’s say Anderson played St Joe the St Joe Indians right and the Anderson Indians right and we did the

Scot report and I I was matched up with you and we were running down the court together I’d be saying you ain’t that good man the Scot report said you were good you ain’t that good good and you’d run by me You You Chuck me with an elbow

Say shut up shut up play ball I would but I probably said but you don’t whoever did The Scouting wasn’t very smart because I was like the fourth player on our team no one even worried about me I was the guy that took it out of bounds I

Went and got rebounds I I loved I love kind of chatting it up a little bit um as a player as a player in high school and then as a player at Manchester uh college and I I thought so I thought that I built great relationships with

With other players that that I played against you know what I mean because I would chat it up with them they’d come back at me and then after the game we’d hug it out and say hey great job man yeah you know we didn’t we didn’t do the

Lineup lines back then we just went and you shook hands with whoever you wanted to and walked off the floor with them a lot of times yeah no that’s exact that’s exactly right we didn’t do any of this handshake Lines no it wasn’t it wasn’t a

Love Fest we did what Isaiah Thomas did yeah he just walked off the floor if you didn’t like it you left yeah he walked off the court hey so speaking of court uh Purdue I mean Purdue just played really well this weekend again led by

Zach Edy and they beat uh Tom mizo and the Michigan State Spartans 80 to 74 in in a in a pretty good B should I play the video yo yeah might as well get right to [Applause] [Applause] it I’mma tell you who cares we got to get right to it Purdue you know it’s basketball season we’re down one week and Purdue had a huge week last week yeah no and they and they they clinch they clinch a tie for the Big 10 title

Uh this week they they have I think maybe a two- game lead over Illinois they play Illinois this coming week and just I think it might be tomorrow they play Tuesday night yeah yeah yeah at Illinois in campaign at Chief at Chief Eli yes Stadium they’re still Indian

They’re still they got they’re Indians well so so what tribe what tribe was was Anderson more closely affiliated with the Delaware tribe um have you ever heard of the fakar way Indians stop it it was stop it was the Del Chief Anderson was the was the chief

Of the Delaware tribe of the so St Joe would have been po ofy right yeah yeah for sure so I mean it’s that’s all it’s all it’s like missall and and Pocahontas and every you know it’s we’re getting off the we’re getting off the we’re getting off the subject it

Makes me makes me mad with the they’re renaming St Joe to the Huskies but I I feel like if their logic continues with having to rename anything that’s associated with an Indian tribe they’re gonna have to rename our state yeah Illinois Indiana are gonna get renamed

Hey um we digress a little bit but let’s get back to Purdue because we got the Choo Cho going uh Purdue just is a really really solid basketball team now they do give up a lot of points though yeah that I’m sure P doesn’t like that I

Think that that would worry me if you know as I’m about to to not only head into the Big 10 tournament but they start they get some of those teams going they score points and and and and so you look at their game against uh uh

Michigan stay uh I mean Ed goes for 32 and 11 14 for 20 from the charity strike and it’s it’s almost like hackas Shack right sure it is hackas Shack and he he’s 14 for 20 now that’s six misses but but still that’s a lot of points to get

From the charity stripe but Braden Smith has a heck of a game 23 points uh eight for 11 from the field four for four from deep and they got Fletcher lawyer going a little bit right you know and he has kind of taken a backseat here Smith’s

Really stepped it up and and Fletcher lawyers kind of uh become almost the third guard but uh yeah he had a nice ball game yeah and and he’s been in a little bit of a mini slump so um I’m saying I’m saying congrats and and and it’s a small congratulations on

Clinching because there’s still so much to play for and there’s so much of the season to play for and uh they you know they got the Bugaboo on their back a little bit now because the last few years in the tournament it’s been a

Oneand done to a to a lower seed a much lower seed and so they have a lot of things to play for a lot of things to practice for but just to start and a congratulations to uh Matt payor uhh Terry Johnson a former Anderson Indian

He’s an assistant coach um Paul Lusk who who went out on his own right and then came back he’s on he’s on Coach uh uh painter staff now painter’s been there years now yeah Brandon Brantley from the uh from the region well they’ve been get

And they keep getting big men too and he puts them to work yeah he’s no he’s a great he’s a great big man coach you watch you watch how far Zack EDI has progressed as a basketball player every time he gets it he chins it uh every so

So every bounce in the post has to be a power bounce uh I mean a post bounce can’t be a soft to take it down it’s got to be a power bounce and it’s got to elevate you almost up yes you’re going up and uh I mean good guards use that

Power bounce too because it elevates them up on their jump shot too uh but Brandon Bradley does a great job of of of coaching The Bigs and uh I mean we’re going to see we’re going to see next year now um when Zach’s on his way to

The NBA and I and I do believe he he will be in the NBA and I and I believe he’s good enough now to get and and and I think this was a big year for him to come back don’t you I think it was important he came back and like you said

Purdue plays at Illinois on Tuesday and then Sunday everybody yeah tomorrow and then everybody finishes uh Purdue has a home game next week with Wisconsin on Sunday so that’ll be senior day is taking a nose dive here they kind of taken a dump they’re now they’re now fifth though they went

From they went from Top 10 in the country to maybe missing the tournament well and they’re they’re like 10 and eight and right now if with the tournament was today they’d be in the four or five game with Nebraska believe it or not well so I mean yeah I mean we

Talk about Purdue and right on you know and we’re all and and we’re also going to talk about IU be and speaking of wiscons I IU Beach Wisconsin 74 to 70 midweek and that’s that’s a big you know and everybody is on Woody man you know everybody’s on Woody and you know there

I mean there’s some times that I don’t feel good about myself when I make comments towards another coach because I know how hard this this profession is and you do too sure exactly I mean we were in this profession and people were taking shots at us because maybe we

Didn’t win enough or we didn’t win a certain game but I mean but I you had had a really good week last week they beat they beat Wisconsin 74- 70 uh where their their 7 Foot Center goes for 27 he’s 11 out of 12 from the field he’s

Got 11 rebounds 27 and 11 now here’s the deal with W with kle where is he going to go out next year is is he that one and done at I that team at IU you just an upper classman though because he transferred yeah no but you know but he still has he

Still has years of Eligibility to stay at IU is he a sophomore or is he a junior I I think he’s a sophomore I think he’s a legitimate sophomore he played as a freshman at Oregon and then and then came to IU and then mbaka who’s been playing who’s been playing really

Well lately he scores 14 against Wisconsin and in yesterday’s game against Maryland yesterday’s game against Maryland he throws in 24 he’s 4 for8 from from Deep so if wear and imaka are one andone guys oh yeah imbak if they’re one and if they’re one and done guys you got another Hood

Chahino situation yeah then I you start over again man and I just I think that is but but here’s the deal um it’s it’s a little more it’s a little more enticing to stay in college now because of the because of cash right right I

Agree you get three Hots in a cot you got your chicks that you’re hanging with you got your friends and you got money now got nil money and now you got money that’s why I and and not to go off the subject here but that’s why I was was

Was kind of surprised that Caitlyn Clark from Iowa is coming out because the amount of money that the WNBA makes is poultry to probably what she could have made staying another year in college you know we could we could jump to that her topic what what else does she have to

Prove the only thing individ she she’s done everything individually now she just needs to win a National Championship and is is that possible for Iowa to do well yeah but but but it’s also a financial situation for her too yeah because she can make well over a

Million dollar in nil money where I mean Scott what’s the average or or or what’s the salary in the in the WNBA for maybe the number one pick in the draft why why don’t you research that for us a little bit Yeah I I’ll research that here all I I’ll add my two

Cents about that subject though most of her money that she’s making though is off of like you know the the State Farm commercials with uh Jake from State Farm so she can do that in the pros too it’s gonna be it’s gonna be about the same amount I don’t think she’s making any

She’s not making any money now that she wouldn’t be able to make in a year while being a professional and not having to worry about going to class or anything like that the the only thing was that her star is not going to be any bigger

Next year than it is now because if she goes number one overall to the fever they’re GNA be like stacked with angel angel ree was the number one pick last year that the fever got and the fever have the number one pick again they’re gonna pick Caitlyn Clark so you put

Those two together I mean it’s going to be there’s going to be a lot of fireworks I I don’t see why it wouldn’t be already I’ve already read that the fever I read some Indianapolis articles the fever’s season tickets have already jumped and the ticket prices have also

Jumped she’s dating one of Fran mcaffry sons who works for the Pacers and why am I saying H why am I saying that Chicago Bears had the number one pick last year they got the number one pick this year does that make it y Caleb Williams

Big Caleb Williams fellas yeah so uh and you know I mean going back to I mean if if if IU has to re-recruit and go back to the portal and and then you know that seems to be the deal nowadays we you know we lose seven foot one where to the

NBA and I don’t know if he’s ready or not we lose mbako to the NBA right I is he ready I don’t know Galloway is gonna graduate go he’s gonna go work at some Bank some play and Xavier Johnson’s been there for 12 years um well and let’s

Don’t forget he had a nice ball game the other day too on he he had a really nice ball game against uh Maryland he scores 13 points he’s five for seven uh one for won from downtown and he he’s been struggling to be honest with you yeah

Well he’s been hurt so him coming back and having a good game I’m sure the Indiana people are thinking okay maybe it’s time for him to play yeah so here’s the here’s the deal with the hooers now the hooers are eight and 10 right they’re eight and 10 they have left on

Their schedule they go to Minnesota and they host Michigan State now let’s just suppose that the hooers go 10 and 10 let’s suppose that they go 10 and 10 all right and that puts him I don’t know in the middle of the pack probably but then but that puts him at 18

And3 so and and let’s say they win a couple in the tournament uh 201 and4 if they get to 10 and 10 they will have they’ll have at least one buy so so they won’t have to play Wednesday I’m not talking about the big 10 turnament I’m talking about the

Big dance can they get in the big Dan can they get in the big dance at 20 and 14 can they win one ball game and 10 and 10 and 10 and 10 in League Play can they get into the big dance is that good enough to get in that’s the question

Well and here the I found the salaries when you want them okay yeah go ahead so picks one through four in 20124 make 8,943 they make school teacher money yeah 25 they make 919 but like the highest paid WNBA players Diana trazzi makes 228 down to number 10 as a Alissa

Thomas from the Connecticut Sun she makes 206 so low to quarter mid 200s yeah yeah and so there is a disparity there for nil money uh because uh you know I’m pretty sure Caitlyn Clark would be north of a million you’re getting all the endorsements on the side in addition

To your salary yeah no I agree I I I agree well one of the things we were talking about and here’s something they talk about every year and that this will be a topic in the next two weeks teams like IU that’ll be on the bubble them getting in the tournament will be

Dependent on your mid- majors and how many of them get in the tournament for example Miss I hear exactly what Miss Missouri Valley Missouri Valley’s coming up they start this week and I had it all written down here Indiana State plays on Thursday they’ve got one of the B the

Tournament starts Thursday they play Friday right Indiana State wins the the regular season standings they win the championship for the regular season okay so they’re the number one seed the Missouri Valley is notorious for getting one team in and there unless you’re Greg Marshall and you were coaching at witch

State yeah and what that and that’s exactly where I’m going what happens is their number one seed usually loses in the final game so they can get two in so if they get two in let’s say they get Indiana State and Drake both then then

Teams like IU get bumped yeah no I I I agree 100% with you but I think I mean just I mean for years Greg Marshall and Witchita State uh got in because of of the success they had in the tournament and a lot of other Valley Schools I mean

It’s just like the Mac it’s like the Mac I mean when when we were when I was coaching in the mac and we were really successful and we had won a lot of the games we knew that that the only way we were getting in was winning the conference tournament win the conference

Tournament yeah and so I mean I I I don’t care if you won if you were 24 and four but you didn’t win the conference tournament you could cry all you want but you were going to the NIT you’re probably gonna be the number one seed in

The NIT yeah so and so well I mean we weren’t even the number one seed I was at Ball State for four years we went to the NCAA tournament two of those years and then we went to the NIT the other two years one year we played in the NIT

We played Utah at Utah uh the other year we played Bob H huggin’ Team at Cincinnati when they had the good Guard from South Ben Riley who who played at the University of Cincinnati for for Bob Huggins and um so and we were good we I

Mean both of those years we went to the NIT we we had won 22 23 games but it’s it’s the league you’re in you lost the tournament yes it’s the league you’re in because the Big 10 might get eight teams and the second best team in the Mac

Might be able to beat might be able to beat some of those lower entry seeds from the Big 10 but it’s it’s all about the league Missouri Valley I hate to say it is kind of in that same Bo that same boat you’re right so Indiana State like

I said they’ve got a buy they’ll play on Friday and but they need to win Friday and they need to win Saturday that’s for sure yeah they they have a they have a really good player um he’s he’s like maybe 610 or 611 and they say they say

He’s he’s just skilled for Big Man he’ll bring the ball up the floor maybe another a jokic type player uh but and I I I can’t remember his name right off the top can you to V isn’t it Scott last name is have you have you heard what

What they’re nicknaming him no cream Abdul Jabar oh gee cream like vanilla ice I mean I’ve seen I’ve seen some clips oh we got Darren pritet in Studio oh my goodness DP beautiful have to give him a microphone no now we got to clean our act up now

Because we got we got a pro right there we gotta clean our act upww in a studio ready for you guys well pull him in anytime he could listen to us we uh now yeah the Big 12 could have eight teams in yeah yeah you know

They’ve got like five of them they in the top 20 yeah and H Houston’s number one right now yeah and Kelvin Sams I mean celvin Samson comes to IU he struggles man there’s all kind of problems in the program guys are smoking weed everywhere Dan dock has to take

Over for him um and he resurfaces he he’s now the head coach at Houston and he’s back on top again man so the one thing so I’m gonna tell you the one thing Kelvin Samson told me I W I went to practice one time doc doc was his

Assistant and we were and we were talking after practice Kelvin Samson says you know I really like I really like Dan docket and I said really he says yeah he’s he’s got some mud in his veins like he like he had a little bit of Indian in him you

Know because Kellin Samson does but he got some mud in his veins I thought I said if someone ever said heck you got mud in your veins I think that’d be I think that’d be kind of cool and that’d be a compliment you got mud in your

Veins man got mud in your vein is that that’s a good thing I guess I guess better than ice in your veins uh yeah well I don’t know but we’re going to talk we’re going to talk to a player about 8:00 that had ice in his veins the

Other night uh Brady fiser from from the M Walker caveman so so we have drew sha Drew how you doing man pull Drew in here and get him in here hi Drew hey how’s it going I’m doing well how are you guys good man congratulations on winning that

Section old Avon awesome thank you very much yeah it was it was extremely exciting so um he’s got a little voice going he’s got a little coach’s voice going Hey listen if you ain’t got coach’s voice you ain’t coaching right exactly yes that’s what I say that’s

What I say so so you take down you take down Tera Hol North 49 to 41 who’d you beat in the tournament to get to the championship game so we were very fortunate we got a five teamer um we had terot South on Friday so we were actually opposite of both Brownsburg and

Planfield who played the opening game Tuesday so we beat terot South um 4661 and then took on excuse me then took on terot North the next night so you got a good draw didn’t you oh we got we probably got the best draw we possibly could have yeah and the the

Stinker of that is you just mentioned all those teams you guys had to go all the way over to Tera H now that’s what an hour it took it’s about hour and 15 hour and 20 by bus to get there okay yeah and it the the thing I finds

Interesting is just the Dynamics of the West Side there of uh of Indianapolis now north of the airport of how things are growing and I think Avon’s a perfect example you know youve got Avon and Playfield right there and Brownsburg all three right stacked on top of each other

And you guys had to go all the way over to Tera hot I guess that’s just the way it was this year and Tera hot the two Tera Hotes have been down and now they’re getting they’re getting better aren’t they yeah terot South um had a senior pretty Dynamic score that could

He averaged about 20 on the year we held him to zero in the first half and then he ended up I think 17 in the second half but the game was kind of Out Of Reach after the the third quarter so um we did a pretty good job on him so

That’s all that great defense you learned playing for Mike Lightfoot right yeah a little bit or what I learned from Mike McBride might have been some of that McBride Holy Cross stuff oh okay so so you played at Holy Cross you didn’t play at bethl I did play at bethl but I

Coached uh under coach McBride and I were together over ho love I love Mike McBride I think I think he’s one of I think he’s one of the most interesting dudes out there man yes he is he loves basketball he loves basketball interesting is a safe word isn’t it drew

Loves lives basketball both of those work too yes he does yes yeah so so talk about so talk about one of you so I think you have one of my ex-players yes that is one of your assistants Rashad Welch yes I mean what level does does he

Coach for you so he is our freshman um coach and he he has done a heck of a job he is one of the most energetic human beings I’ve ever been around um he’s also gotten the most technicals on staff and the most bench warnings on staff um

I I take there’s I take nothing in that that is not on me trust me man but uh he does so in the sectional play and in for our County tournament which we did when our County as well he’s done a really good job with doing some scouting stuff

In terms of he’s been really good Baseline out of bounds sideline out of bounds and some like special plays near the end of quarters and halves um and he’s really taken on that role and done a really good job with it hey I guess the next question I have where’s your

Whose bench has your dad been sitting on here he’s been up north most of the time hasn’t he he is so he is a on Columbia City’s staff um he is on Columbia City staff um and but he came down to watch our game so he did it from the stands um

Oh he to the bench yeah he couldn’t get down to the bench but he he um he is not afraid to be vocal on calls like a coach would be from the stands about seven rows up so um no he’s on my brother’s staff up at Columbia City that’s right

So I got to tell you this um so your brother gets kicked out of a game when he’s coaching at gym toown right right yeah and he he was really down about it so so we’re playing at mishala we’re playing at gy toown and your dad’s and

Your dad’s the head coach the game oh that was the head coach your dad I mean coached the game and your your dad was awesome and um you know uh Jimtown ended up beating us and uh you know your dad was just awesome out you know coaching the game just just

Getting into it and after the game uh your brother Matt was there and and sitting there and he he was really he was really down man yeah he said heck he said if you ever got T he said he said heck you’re crazy man how many how many

Games you get toss out of and I said I gotta be straight up with you man I ain’t never been I ain’t never been T and he kind of sunk really low sitting on the on the bench there but but his dad his dad I mean his dad your dad took

Over for him and won the game and and uh and then just did a phenomenal job app so what what’s your schedule this week what did you guys do today so uh um with it just being a Saturday game what we did we had a regional meeting today at

Greenfield Central um when I got back we did a little rest and Recovery guys used normat teexs on their legs we got shots up um did a lot of different things we needed to do in terms of getting healthy um playing those two games really physical games we’ll go Tuesday after

School for about hour and a half hard Wednesday hour and a half hard Thursday we’ll go over to Greenfield Central at 4 pm for 4 to 5:30 practice Friday be pretty light and then Saturday do a shoot around in the morning before we leave at about I think we’re about 4:30

To get over to Greenfield so you’ve got a night game yeah we got the 7 PM game at Greenfield Central okay because we’ve got night games up here too I know some of the some of the Regionals have games at one and four yeah and uh I’m guessing

Your games are at four and seven now who plays your four o’clock game they have a different uh George Washington and Garen Catholic all right so you got a good threea game in front of you yeah it’s a little different not having a 4 a game

There um to kind of watch an opponent could play if you’re fortunate enough to win that next game but it’s a it’s a good game because George Washington has had a heck of a year with what they’ve done and Garen obviously the way they won yeah Saturday and the talent they’ve

Got I mean that was amazing the over thehead was just amazing that just never seen anything like it no talk about your team a little bit tell us who your best players are and and tell us about your team a little bit Yeah so um we we play

One senior um who’s our starting who only averages about two points but he is one of the smartest basketball players I’ve coached um a heady kid that doesn’t turn the ball over strong plays defense on their uh usually the best opponent um everybody else we got three Juniors at

Start uh kind of a lightning quick guard about 5758 averag about seven points Rashad bethley then we’ve got um 65 kid DeAndre lot Hancock who transferred in from addex who’s lived in Avon the past couple years really good Defender down low averages I think this year right now

He’s about 10 points and nine rebounds a 66 Center Kenny Dunmore he’s averaged about eight and eight and then jedia manette whose Brother played at iupy as a sophomore for us um he is averaging he’s a leading score at 14 and we have two Juniors Off the Bench that play a

Good bit Isaac Kramer um who’s a shooter and then a kid named Rohan Pearson and the crazy thing about Rohan is we played in our County tournament we had Brownsburg first round he hits the game-winning layup against them them the next night we go play at planfield and

He hits a half court shot to beat planfield and then in the sectional Championship Saturday he scored all 16 of his points in the second half um to help that so he’s kind of just showed up in big games he only averages about six points but he’s showed up in a huge way

So we’re we’re pretty Junior heavy um but that’s that’s good for us moving forward um especially kind of with some good senior leadership there too you don’t have to go into the portal much in the off season then do you no no we uh it’s kind of crazy in Indianapolis we’re

Too we’re so far kind of off of the on the west side where that that kind of Indianapolis where the it seems that the transfer happens a lot we don’t we don’t get a ton of it one of my really good friends is Jimmy Etherington Jimmy and I

Have been great friends for a long long time and he does a great job of of of being an assistant coach at at at Lawrence North Lawrence North really good this year yeah they’re they’re one of the best teams um after watching them on film I’ve got broken down about three

Games kind of gave myself a little bit of time to celebrate it uh Sunday and then I started getting into it and they’re extremely talent to top to bottom they’re good guards athletic guards two sophomore bags and they got two really good Shooters so they’re they’ve got a little bit of everything

They’re 24 and three I think now they’re 24 and three for a reason aren’t they yes yes well listen hey congratulations we just wanted to get you on here and we’re trying to get coaches from a different parts of the state weig hey this this is this is your first right

You were at lanport but you didn’t you didn’t want toport two two years at Logansport was it two years at Logan this is my third here daon yeah so you’re you’re it took you five years to no hey are you kidding me I can’t remember how took me 25 years

To get man gosh what about your brother Matt how’s he how is he doing at Columbia City uh he’s doing a great job they won the conference this year for the first time in a long time U they won 16 wins they got got be by Homestead in

The semifinals but he’s got a really good program up there he’s got it um the youth are bought in the middle schools are bought in so he’s doing a great job sounds great hey please give my regards to Rashad man tell him I said yeah absolutely I will and tell him and tell

Him to chill out a little bit will you man I will yeah he he can’t he can’t say I got that from coach heck man no I like that kid he’s a really nice kid he was not a great player but sometimes kids that were not great players make really

Good coaches yeah he’s been he’s been he’s been awesome for us all right coach you got anything else I’m good I just wanted to come in and say hi and congratulations to you I I just I’m still amazed at how they send th those teams over to Tera hoot I guess

Tero Tera hoot’s over there by themselves and I was in a similar situation when I was down there at Madison in Southern Indiana because we were the only 3A School in the area and you know everybody around us was onea and 2A we had to leave leave the

Neighborhood to to go play anybody so it was a bus ride we either had I think our two years I was had a sectional up at Greensburg which was an hour or we had to go uh hour and a half over to Cordon the next year they thought they were

Doing us a favor they sent us over the Cordon so um yeah I understand what’s going on it’d be nice if they’d s to make those two teams come over and you know Brownsburg got a nice siiz gym and I Brownsberg will host next year so hopefully if our sectional stays the

Same and they don’t uh switch us up um we’ll we’ll have it at Brownsburg next year I don’t know having Lynch over there he’s is he still running that 131 all the time he is he hey he’s a Manchester Spartan come on he’s been

He’s been a majority man he ran a he ran a little Zone against us in the uh County tournament but he’s he’s been he’s been mostly man yeah we we met I met him at Manchester College when he was when he was assistant with Alford

Back in the 90s a great coach all right hey I’ll let you go congratulations than you guys thanks for having me on say hi to your family for us man we’ll do thank you guys hey take care see you see you really really just a really good coach really great

Family I mean great careers at bethl University as players both Drew in that I knoww there Drew is at a smaller College down South for two or three years and came back up here maybe for his senior year at I mean Paul condry talks about their family just just so glowingly and

He’s a he’s a great coach his brother’s a great coach and and that’s I mean that story was a was a straightup story where his dad now is coaching and we’re mishala you know I’m this H you know coach Hackman coming over from Anderson

His dad put his dad laid the wood us man I was on the was I on the bench that year I think you were we just got up today man great job yeah way to kick our butt man nice job way kick so hey high school basketball you know we’re gonna

Get Eric Gaff on here in a couple of minutes but high school basketball this is this is the I mean last week was the best week in in I mean if you’re a high school fan you got three games Tuesday Fridays and Saturdays uh some some

Places had a Wednesday game yeah and and and you had a great sectional over at Washington right we did we had good sectional over at Washington we had uh two of the best teams around with when the Mary and St Joe game on Friday night

Was was fantastic and uh and then we had a good one after that with Jim town and Clay I Ain clay surprised a lot of people but we kept saying clay was playing with house money and uh Jimtown came in and and just they couldn’t buy a basket and and Clay was

Hitting everything that they threw up and then you take a look at that clay team their two best players were out with knee surgeries yeah yeah and they were playing with you know with leftovers yeah I mean Tyrese Jones the uh the really good sophomore who now

Will be he he’ll be in and I hate and and when I said the word Porto I was joking J oh yeah but Tyrese Jones is going to be on some on a lot of people’s radar I’ll tell you another one the Freshman ke Webster um he he had a big game the

Jimtown game I think he hit three threes in the first half and ended up with 156 points and and was a big factor in that game so clay as it turned out the best two players clay had one was a freshman one was a sophomore yeah and and they’re

Now free agents I mean hats off to coach barnbrook for he had a great year this year they won 12 13 games and he kind of brought clay along a little bit he had a couple rough years early but I thought he did a a really good job of coaching his

Players up and and and putting teams that that were very representative on the floor now not not early in his tenure uh his teams were rough but but later when when when he when he coached when when he had had teams that he’d been coaching for two or three years I

Thought I thought he did a really good job we’re g to get coach Gaff on the line here let me talk let me hit a couple of sponsors then you can hit a couple of sponsors and then I’ll get i’ll get coach Eric Gaff online we we’ll

Talk talk about that St Joe Marin game because I thought St Joe was one of the most talented teams that I saw this year and and then and then what Robbie Berger did with his team winning 13 straight games at the end of the season and then

Getting uh a piece of that Northern Indiana conference I thought was amazing but let me talk about uh Tony lecher a little bit with health markets insurance when you need help with your health insurance or Medicare it’s time you get the right coverage for the right price

Call Tony 574 4307 8882 or visit his website at teeter.com Tony Tony lecher on 1995 South Ben Adams crb I understand just one year before you got there just you could have coached him maybe maybe maybe he maybe maybe yeah I need I need to get with him anyway I got get some

Insurance for my wife here coming yeah no and and we thank Tony he’s one of our main sponsors and also Han funeral home located at 505 West 8th Street in downtown Mish you can call them anytime at 574-2547 stop in to get answers from the local funeral professionals about your

Funeral needs patan and his crew does a great great job hey hey Darren what did one casket say to the other casket you got nothing right you don’t know you’re killing me yeah I’m killing myself but it gets a laugh every time I just got Darren right there killing me

Darren’s a pro and I got Darren to laugh all right I’m I’m going to get coach Gaff on the line here well let I’ve got to do the technology here so let me figure some stuff out here while you’re doing that I am going to take care of my

Team of the week and Scott has left us Scott’s in Las Vegas by the way and he’s so now I get to do all the tech stuff here so there’s my there it’s time to do our Fricks team of the week here and the Fricks driving school team of the week

Where’s my there we go I’m going with IU IU at Maryland yes we’ve already talked about it a little bit but IU’s went at Maryland yesterday I think had to be one of the biggest wins they’ve had all season so uh I want want to make sure

And mention them so Road team of the week is IU this week so are you guys good I’m I’m getting good we hex working on his technology here um put it on I am good all right well you got we have the great Eric Gaff Eric you

With us yes sir man so no this technology so like me and Pat King we’re we’re just a couple of slaps man we have no idea Darren was over here behind us he would be laughing than he is right now but we figured out how to get you on

Man because I really wanted to chat with you a little bit when I saw uh and and and I did a couple of your games I did your pen game I think I did another game but um when I saw your team play uh I thought you had one of the most talented

Rosters uh in this area and then and then the game that you played at Mishawaka I I just I thought you guys were so were so talented and uh so good that and and M Walker beat you at the buzzer with a with a baseline Jay by by

Trey Thomas but talk about the Indians oh no excuse me excuse me talk about the no is it the Buffalo is it the Buffalo I thought it talk about the Huskies I called them the jimmies talk about the Huskies for a minute and uh your team a

Little bit man because I think you I think you have a really really good team well I appreciate that I noticed you didn’t want to talk to me after the pen gameer Mission we lost both those yeah got some wins yeah we only talk the coaches no we only talk to Winners come

On man yeah yeah that makes sense I’m just kidding if we talk to a losing coach what’s he gonna say yeah not good enough that’s what you said no we got a we got a real talented team and we knew going into it we had a talented team it was just about putting

The pieces together and figuring out how to get the guys to play together and how to you know get guys that are so talented to to feel like they’re part of the part of the game you know when you know some guys had to take a little bit

Of a step down um and so you know once we figured out out you know we look pretty good so um it’s been a fun ride trying to figure this this puzzle out but it looks like we got it together right now yeah I I think it I think it

Looks I think it looks really great for you to get to that sweet 16 you’ve already beaten John Glenn but but talk about that that that Misha or or that Maran and sa Joe matchup over at the Great Western form I think I think Marian got you in the regular season and

Then what a great game Pat I mean Pat King did that game and was telling tell me how great you guys played against Marian yeah so they got us in the regular season we just you know a couldn’t hit the Bri side of a barn in

That game um and that was credit to to Marian’s defense um and then I thought we did a poor job in our press for about two quarters of that game so going into the game on Friday you know I told the boys like you know you get your press

Rolling right and you shoot with some confidence I said I don’t think they have enough answers for you um and our press was really effective against them and the boy some confidence and then I think kind of the sneaky one that we did that I don’t think most people are ready

For is we rebounded the hell out of the ball or the heck out of the ball sorry no no no no no this a podcast you can say whatever you want man there’s there’s no radio rules here man H good um yeah so I thought we rebounded really

Well and I thought that was those kind of three things that were able to tip the scales in our favor against against Marion on Friday so so so so talk about Chase kesn man I I you know in watching him play he he gets into his stuff so

Quickly and he’s got unlimited range I I just I just think he’s really really good now I think you were an assistant coach uh under Mark Johnson when when Jr played right yeah I was the assistant with with Mark during that time yeah and

And and I know Jr I mean I I mean was I don’t know 66 maybe 67 and Chase is 63 but there’s a lot of similarities in their games it isn’t there yeah I mean both of them have a natural born talent to score and he he gets his

His to his spot so fast and um um I think the the biggest difference I think Chase is able to play with a lot of different speeds he can goes he goes from Fast to slow slow to fast and he he gets Defenders off that way J was just

So athletic he just blow by it with size and speed um but with Chase you know he doesn’t need a lot of room to get a shot off and he sure as heck doesn’t need um to be very close to make a bucket so uh

He makes it easy on offense for us you know we just you know run maybe one action to try and get him the ball in a spot we think he’s good at and he takes care of the rest so yeah I think as you know as you know you know those kind of

Players don’t come around too often so we’re enjoying while we got them well no but I I think you I think you have another player that has come around again and that’s a that’s a ninth grader Elijah king um man when I saw him play he powerful he’s big he elevates he he

You know he’s he’s a mid he’s a mid-range guy now I think but I think he’s got a chance to be really good right I I think he will I think he’s gonna be you know another game changer that we were fortunate enough to get and

And uh his ability to get the rim I mean so powerful so strong I mean Nas guys’s off and finishes at The Rim which is really good I agree I think he’s a really good pullup mid-range guy and his shots coming along you know really was gotten better all season and um his

Defense I think is uh the biggest Improvement I’ve seen for him this year most young guys aren’t super willing to play defense you know they like to be flashy side with shots and uh he’s really started buying to the defensive side and he’s got a couple 5sec counts

You know locking guys up so really excited for where he’s going and what he brings for us off the bench yeah and then and then uh michah Shrewsberry who’s who’s great man he comes from Penn State he’s a Purdue guy Matt Painter guy he he gets the ND job he comes to town

And then did he I mean did he come to St Joe right away did you have to was there a deal where he was looking at a couple schools did you have to sell St Joe or did he just come right to St Joe and and

And bring Nick his uh his six4 sophomore son with him right you know right on on day one yeah so I think they looked around in a couple schools and and they came into St Joe and you know I talked to them and and uh I I said

Look we were down the street and uh I think we have a good program here and we have a great school and I think it’s going do great here and he said awesome and he then he said you know we want you know all our kids have a good experience

They have two daughters one’s in ninth grade and one’s coming up and uh I said oh great and that that’s it and then you know a couple weeks later you know his son’s in the gym you know for summer workouts so um real fortunate I don’t

Know how much of it was sales tactics and how much of it was we’re about a mile from his office you know so that probably played a bigger role but uh definitely real fortunate to have Nick in there he’s real talented as a player and I think his IQ is probably one of

Been the biggest things you can tell that he lives with a coach and those with the heck of a coach so you know we’re talking about you know we kind of want to look at this action or you know we’re looking to get this and he looks

He’s like yeah I know exactly what that is you know he runs it perfectly yeah so so one of the things that that I like about him and I and I you know so so when I do a game I I I watch guys in pregame and and watch and watch how they

Move I think he’s got a lot of individual moves and and and you can tell that that you know that that he’s been coached up you know with his dad’s players and all that kind of stuff working on those on those individual moves and at 6’4 he has great great size

And and a great opportunity to be really good with the ball in his hands yeah I think his best basketball is way ahead of him um I think as he gets more confident um as he kind of figures out what kind of player his defense you know on Friday and Saturday

It’s the best I’ve ever seen him defend and if he he does that you know I think he’s his dad’s gonna have a hard time getting him to go to Notre Dame he’s gonna get recruited by a lot of people yeah but I I think I think um with

Braden and Nick uh in town I think his dad will be a happy guy man well you know one of the things you mentioned out that um the older boy when he was in Lafayette went to West Lafayette he was public school he didn’t go to LCC he

Went to West Lafayette as a freshman and before they moved to Penn State so uh getting him getting the next one to go to private school that’s a good get for you so yes it’s a big get I’m gonna take credit I’m gonna take credit no no no you should so any dad

Coming in and looking up to you um it’s not like he’s got to look eye to eye to you man he’s got to look up to you and he’s got to say man this guy looks like he knows what he’s doing man and then he watches tape he talks to people around

The city and you know I mean educationally St Joe speaks for itself man it’s a I mean I’m I’m a St Joe grat and so um all you got to do then is get kids in and Coach them up you got you got uh Landon Booker on

On the sideline with you right he’s got Booker he’s he’s got Lee Ross he’s got Lee Ross too oh I love no I love Lee Ross Man Lee Ross did a great job at southb career center I I love I love both Landon and Lee Ross man those are

Good those are two good young guys you missed the best so maybe the best pickup we got was we actually got Harold swanigan to work us yeah I saw I knew that yes so that might be the biggest you know you know physically and figuratively yeah no exactly no so so do

You have to look up to him or are you guys eye to eye he has to look up to me but I’m afraid if yeah so I don’t make him do that too much I like that man but my staff has been great they bring so much to the

Table and uh you know going around watching college practices I notic you know the the assistants take a huge huge portion of practice you know different parts and when I got those three coaches in the gym you know it makes life easy they do a great job with the guards Swan

Again does a great job with you know my like he’s been big for kesn you know just kind of showing the ropes and and what you got to be like if you want to be a power five player you know this is how you got to practice and so that’s

Been really really great for us paying off for us right now yeah so now you talk about uh the regional where’s your Regional at South B Washington oh the Great Western Forum again you’re going to win as many games over there as Washington has before you know what that

Be your second home court yeah no because you beat Washington at Washington you you play John Glenn at at John Glenn and and I know and I know 73 to 40 it is so it is so hard to get off of that but but your guys just got to

Come in and say man this is a chance to go to the Sweet 16 and wipe wipe that stuff off the slate man it’s it’s Zip Zip and and and we know and you know if your guys come out and compete and and and and you guys coach them up that you

Guys are gonna win that game right I mean you know the plan is to win it uh coach Hannah down at uh John Glenn man he does such a great job and uh you know I’ve seen a lot of games where I go there’s no way John Glenn’s gonna win

This and then they win it they just figure out a way to stay in the games don’t they yeah so we you know have some film that we’re going to show the guys you know we showed them our loss to Washington in sex championship last year

And you know John Glenn made a run last year and we’re going to show them CLP to that say like hey look they were not on paper they’re not supposed to win but here they are winning um and so if you take this lightly you’re gonna be sting

Home a lot quicker than you expect so um you know we got to go into practice like you said kind of z00 and and we got a long way to go to be better to deserve the win on Saturday yeah so I want you to know man um that that my two favorite

Schools here are are obviously when mishala plays but then my second favorite school is always when St Joe plays man and I always look at those scores I I’m a sa Joe guy and I think you’re doing a great great job there your guys play hard they play the right

Way and I want to wish you and and I know Pat does too we want to wish you the best coming up in in in your in your in your Regional and get to the semi-state man and who knows right yeah who knows you know you never know when

You get this this time of the year you never know what’s going to happen and it’s just exciting to be here and I appreciate you guys you know two legends of the area and two legends of the game it’s always fun to talk generous no so so we don’t so we don’t

Like to call ourselves Legend we like to call ourselves pillars of the community kind like leg that’s been thrown on us we’re pillars of the community man considering we just talked about one of your players as lead in the world in technical fouls at the freshman team

Yeah no but anyway good luck to you man and and and uh so so one of my really good guys that I that I go to church with on Sunday St Monica is a kid named Charlie gruy and I know I know Charlie HT his knee again and has to go through

Uh the knee operation again but he’s a really really good kid and he always talks so highly of you man he is a great it was you know broke my heart when you know we found out that it was as serious as it was um he’s a talented kid man

He’s uh going to be a heck of a player and and he’s one of the better kidss we got to roll around in St Joe so feel for him but I’m excited for his comeback story he’s going to be a special talent all right speaking of comebacks one more

What what’s the young man’s name that uh had the accident that play that got the two three-pointers in the game right at the end of the game Tyler Brown Tyler Tyler got got in the ball game the other day and hit a couple threes and then just stood there like like it wasn’t

That big of a deal you know he pulled one pulled one of those he everybody was cheering and yell he just kind of stood there and almost crossed his arms like there you go but so I was happy that he had a chance to get in and and had some

Fun and took a couple shots and the guys got him shots open and he made a couple of them yeah I tell you what Ty set shooting it’s probably G to go in and we’re always cheering for him to hit shots and the guys always look for him

So it’s always special to see him on the floor it’s good to have him in the game that’s for sure yeah all right Eric listen man good luck to you uh get the uh get the huskys a Regional Championship and then and and then bigger things will be in store man good

Luck buddy I appreciate you thanks for your time all right that was the great Eric Garrick Gaff from St Joe Gaff from and you know what from Concord from Concord yeah Concord player and St Joe so we have so we have Darren Pritchard miked up for us here he he he’s mute

He’s he’s on he’s on a voice limit he’s maxed out all he’s he’s maxed out somewhere there’s a button on that thing see if it works I don’t even know it G A an oldfashioned mic I just support hang on Mane let me see I can get the right

One try that one test one two no my no so I I can get guys on the phone you stop I got I think I got it there we go there you go I was on channel four instead of three I just came to support coach he was just on my

Radio show so when to come over and see you guys for a couple of minutes it’s on my way home so just wanted to listen to a little hoop talk yeah no this is you came you came to the right place brother man and here here’s here’s what else I’m

Going to talk to you about how’s the St Louis Cardinal doing man he’s a DI hard Cardinal fan I’m a die hard cup fan I know talk to me about the cards well our Ace just had an MRI this afternoon so yeah it’s wonderful and so who’s your

Ace Sunny gray I saw that hamstring right yes yeah but it’s not a shoulder he’ll be fine we’ll see he’ll be fine Wilson Contreras uh I mean everybody said he couldn’t frame a he couldn’t do this he couldn’t do that he learned last year but he did learn and he he I mean

He could always hit he could always hit uh I saw I saw uh a thing on on uh I don’t know if it was Twitter or what it was on but Molina was somewhere and had a cub Jersey on did you see that I did

And I don’t know the context of it yeah I I don’t either but but people are rolling over when when they’re and he I mean molo was a great player great catcher great team leader and when he and when he would come up and the and

The game was on the line he’s going the right field the right center man y he would always get the big hit can I ask you guys a question fire do you miss coaching this time of the year um I do okay go ahead you go first I I I

Miss I love tournaments uh I think my whole I wouldn’t say my whole world but my whole project was getting my teams ready for the tournament and it it really didn’t matter how good we were during the season we the thing I always put in our kids’ Minds leading into that

Week of the tournament was that we might not win the sectional but somebody’s gonna have to beat us if they want to win the sectional and that and it just was just one of those deals where if you want to win you’re gonna have to beat us

And that was the kind of the attitude I had with my kids didn’t matter if they were good or not you remember my last team over at Adams I we had won five games we were like five and 15 and we got to the final game we won on Friday

Night we got and we actually had Riley I think it was down to like one or two points within the last 10 seconds everybody’s going are you kidding you like Adams has got a chance to win they’re GNA win you know win the sectional with six wins and then you

Know Riley made a couple plays at the ENC we got beat by four or five but the whole point then the next two years Adams wins the sectional well that’s that’s very reminiscent of Martinsville with with four wins maybe this year say martville and Martinville gets to the the sectional championship game in

Center Grove John GL lost seven out of eight going into the section that’s right you’re right and that’s stuff that we’re gonna be talking about here and so from my standpoint from my standpoint um I can honestly tell you I mean when I was doing it when I was doing it and I

Was in my groove and I was doing it man it was the biggest thing it was the biggest thing ever to me but um as I got older and I I found out about real life and what what is really really important in your life um uh your relationship

With God and those types of things and then the grind really wore me down and um I’m really really happy to do what I’m doing now I I I love I love calling the games I love being around kids but I I think I think basketball made me so

Different I mean basketball I mean when I was coaching basketball it was it was everything and I sacrificed so much along the way I don’t know if you felt that way I do I do but it I sacrificed I sacrificed so much along the way and

There were some things that I I just really really wasn’t proud of I should have I should have done some things relative to to maybe um taking care of the kids more uh but it was always about winning winning winning winning winning winning winning and uh towards the end

Of my career I I changed a little bit but I’m I am so much I am so much happier in my own self now but I’m still around basketball man I’m around I’m calling them we’re doing this I’m around great great guys like you I’m around Pat

All the time and great guy too I try I try to be a good example well and when Pat is not a good example we always talk about magic mind M so so people take Prevagen right right people take Prevagen because they they can’t remember stuff battle say something stupid on every

Show and I gotta remind him I I gotta say no you do not do it on purpose I’m tell you I do it on purpose just to get him see if he paying attention but magic mind.com is a new Tropic and it’s phenomenal I’ve been taking it out for

10 days and you can you can go on magicmine you can order it you can put in Coach’s Corner in capital letters 20 Coach’s Corner commercial and you get a 20% you get a 20% discount discount but I’m going to give you some we’re going

To just see some of the stuff you say on the show we’re gonna we’re g to we’re going to use you as a test as a test subject I’m gonna be a guinea pig you’re GNA be a guinea pig remember folks magic mind.com why don’t you and Darren chat

It up for a second I’m gonna try and get Brady on and we’re gonna talk some Mishawaka Hoops I’m gonna get these I gota mute you so you can get him talking he’ll be talking to that on my radio show when heck was just on I said there

Is no player in the area that means more to his team than Brady Fisher does to Mich WKA he that amazing he does everything I mean he’s a six3 post player he’s been playing the guard position bringing the ball down the floor hitting mid-range shots I mean he

Has been so essential to M Walker winning back-to-back SE and they’ve had Fishers there at school now for the last 10 years it seems like and you know CJ’s down at Mississippi State I think still and little Med medium Brothers over at Notre Dame and uh yeah good family good

Family and uh well your boy’s doing pretty good too he we we I hear that he’s like the glue man he’s kind he’s kind of the Galloway he’s the rebounder the glue guy and you know I listen to you guys talking about coaching and being away from family I can’t be at the

Regional Saturday because I have a notame hockey trip the hardest this is going to be the hardest day ever i’ I’ve lived my whole life to be a broadcaster but this is one Saturday I wish I was why you need to call in sick huh there you go there you go funny because

Shrewsberry was uh he was at the game Friday night over there at St for the St Joe Maran game but then he had to miss the Saturday game because Notre Dame had a home game at the same time and I’m gonna and I’m GNA tell you guys one

Thing the reason the cavemen are playing on Saturday up in in uh in Michigan City so I call Michigan City the little region I mean I don’t I mean I don’t I mean I don’t call this God country I don’t call it God’s country Like I Do Gary um and

And and I will tell you about Gary Gary if if if you go to the Coney King and Gary okay it’s a it’s a hot dog joint if you go to the Coney king and you buy eight they give you 11 because if you

Got the guts to get out of your car in the parking lot of the Coney King they give you three extra Coney dogs kind like going to Popeyes on linoln why but the reason the Cav men are playing and we have the great Brady Fisher on

Yeah Brady how you doing man I’m doing good check how are you I’m doing great man it’s just wonderful it’s wonderful to have you on here you were you you were amazing uh not just the other night but but but this this whole season man you you’re you’re the you’re you’re

You’re kind of the the leader uh and and I don’t know if you guys talk about leadership if if you have a captain if you have leader leaders but when when I watch you play you’re you’re kind of the leader uh and you just do a great job

Now for our listeners that don’t know Misha um is battling their guts out against Riley Riley’s good mishawaka’s good and with about 10 seconds left in regulation Mishawaka is down three and mishala has the ball so the ball comes back up to the top the ball comes to

Brady and fish has to get a three off he’s got and I’m talking to coach here and fish has got to get a three off I don’t I mean I don’t really think you were wide open were you fish uh they they uh the defender helped

On Jackson when I screened him and uh I was open for a split second and then and and the ball came back to fish and fish put it up and Aiden Kent about a 64 senior fouls Brady Fisher with with 2.5 seconds left and um now fish is going to

The line the the gymm is packed it’s crazy people are screaming Brady Fischer now has three free throws to send this game to overtime hopefully and uh so what’s your mind now now now I know you made a comment to the press that that you knew you were going to make them and

You were just worried about how you were going to guard the last two night the last two and a half seconds is that now okay this is me you’re talking dry Coast you man come on now is really how you felt oh not at all I knew it man I knew

That was great that was that was great by you for print tell us how you felt going up to the line man uh you know it was it was definitely nerve-wracking but uh not nothing that it wasn’t nothing that we uh I haven’t been through before and uh I got up

There and I made made all three yeah I think I think making and obviously making the first I mean set you up for success for the other ones but but I will say this much the fact that you were in that position so many times being the football quarterback of one of

The top football teams in the state fourth and one fourth and seven fourth and three and the and the ball’s always going to be in Brady’s hands because you’re the QB I’m I’m sure that that that’s somewhere down the line it’s a different skill set but that had to

Prepare you mentally for that right yeah for sure uh definitely uh like the SNY game we had a couple fourth Downs that we need conversions and uh you know i’ I’ve just been used to that feeling for a little bit yeah no and I and and obviously the majority of those

Times in your three years as being the starting quarterback uh the the majority of those times you’ve had great success now okay so now you’re at the line man you you dropped the first one so so I saw that you that you step about I don’t know maybe six inches behind the free

Throw line right yeah my wife is up there there so my wife is screaming toes because she because she always heard me say get on your toes when you make your free throws she’s screaming toes I got a a headset on I’m wanting to say Monica please I

Gotta I gotta pay attention here so you drain the first one now the second one the second one’s got to feel a little bit more comfortable because you made the first one right oh yeah definitely uh I’m kind of a streaky so once I get the rhythm going it’s it’s not much to

Make a three or four in a row yeah and then but then they ice you I say when was the timeout then they ice you after the second one okay okay I mean Alex tries to ice you did did anybody so you go to the Hutto so it’s kind of like

When someone’s throwing a no hitter in baseball on you know it’s like the seventh or eighth inning so no one will ever go talk to the pitcher they won’t they won’t go sit by him they won’t go say anything to him did anybody say anything to you in that huddle oh no

Nothing we just talked about uh defending once it once it went in yeah no I I I I pretty much I I pretty much thought that and then you and then you just go up there is calm as anybody man um and knock it in and then and then

They run a play uh rashan Johnson uh hits the ball up in the air he’s he’s he’s guarding the passer and you know as that happened on in real time I thought he just caught it and threw it but when I saw when I saw the the actual you know

Footage of it happening on film he actually had a great look at that shot didn’t he yeah he did I thought he I thought it was g go in yeah I did too and and what a so so what a a week to cap off for him right he’s he jammed

Himself up a little bit couldn’t play uh made that big play at the end of the game and then then Coach Bender put him in uh four the four minutes of overtime he scores six points and and he’s and he’s really a catalyst for you in that

Overtime yeah for sure uh you know he uh faced this week and uh all week he was a great teammate and he came came back in overtime and made three big buckets yeah yeah he did so so what’s your so what’s your signature move uh going right and

Spinning back left or going left and spinning back right uh I don’t I mean I don’t think I have a signature really maybe the hesitation well no so so I see you really with those spin moves and you love those spin moves and finish with a

Little scoop layup but I don’t know if you’re if you’re better going right to left or left to right which one do you feel more comfortable with honestly heck I kind of just move towards the basket that’s not a bad thing that’s not a bad answer either because because if anybody’s trying to

Scout you man there’s there’s there’s no one way so so so I go back to your sophomore year and I don’t know I don’t know if you remember one of our assistant coaches Chandler spring and he used to do all those cone drills with you guys in practice every day we used

To do those cone drills remember that yeah I used to always think because you were so long you were so big and you handling the ball putting between your legs going between a cone backing it up using a hesitation move going around another cone and finish I I thought

Those drills were so good for you with your individual play yeah definitely we still do those uh in the summer time with bender and Nelson uh we do the cone drill and I I definitely see myself using them in in the games yeah yeah I do too so so I I

I’ve always known that you like the glass I I’ve always known that you like the Bank shots but now I’m seeing you shoot maybe 14 15 Footers banking them in huh yeah uh you know Riley played me a little differently than most teams and

Uh I wanted to get some get my shots up still and so I had to use the mid-range jumper a little more yeah yeah so so so so talk about then the you know I mean Marvin takes it down I I don’t know why I don’t know why they had Marvin taken

Down I mean that’s that’s Riley I I might have had pton bar coming down I don’t know but Marvin takes it down the shot doesn’t go in talk about your feelings right after that when you saw Cooper pritchet grab that rebound oh man there’s there’s nowhere

Feel feeling like it you know I just love winning and uh the celebration with the team was awesome how how much did how much did Misha lead in the first four quarters do they have the lead very often uh I think it was back and forth

In the first half right a little bit second second half you guys were playing from behind most of the time is that right yeah that’s okay correct CU I was over at South Bend Washington for that so I didn’t see any of your game so so now so now you’re you’re

You’re you’re going up to Michigan City so so do you know anything about East Chicago Central yet uh I do not I’m actually gonna go watch film after this are you really good for you man everybody so so everybody’s got these numbers now first you know last year was the first time in

37 years M Walkers won a sectional uh this year it’s the first time since 1928 since M Walker won backtack sectionals um now and I don’t know it’s they haven’t won a regional since 1955 you guys you guys have a great shot at taking care of that business because of how you

Defend I mean I mean how much do you guys work on defense in a typical practice um we kind of just uh do the sheld drill to start most practices and uh after that we don’t really work on it that much yeah but but I mean you guys

Just do such a great job of not letting anybody into the paint and and making people have to beat you from deep and I got I have a little saying um that goes uh dogs that blank early don’t blank late you can fill that blank in with the

Word you know but um when Riley came out and banged in four threes early in the game it it really didn’t concern me because I’m thinking that they ain’t going to hit that stuff late did uh did Coach Bender talk about that kind of stuff to you guys yeah before the game

Uh he he told us we’re gonna we’re g to back off a little bit uh and protect the paint a little more this game and if they make a couple three threes no big deal just try to do your best and contest it and uh live with the

Consequences yeah you guys got a great team and I and I I I mean I feel really good about your stuff uh in this Regional uh you’re your guy I mean I mean when you guys were freshman you you you what you win the NLC freshman tournament right yeah we did yeah and

You guys and you guys are have been set up for Success uh coach Bender comes in he does a great great job uh coaching you guys up um and from what I’ve heard the practices are probably a little shorter right yeah practices are a tad bit shorter shocked since when you were

There yeah coach coach King said he’s shocked no come on man Hey Hey Hey listen thanks for taking a minute to uh to tell our listeners about uh about that game and about your free throws and and and for the record for the record I I couldn’t and when I was broadcasting

The game and you know I’m thinking well if somebody gets F who do you want up there you know to make those and for the record I I mean I mean my first guy was Brady fiser because I know I I I know that you’ve been in those huge minutes

Before uh as a football player and as a basketball player before and and I knew if anybody could close his mind off and just go do what he had to do it was you so congratulations on that and good luck for the rest of this tournament take

Care of business you got it got it thanks coach means a lot hey congratulations we good luck on Saturday thanks coach all right all right that would that’s the great Brady fisherman and you talk you talk about a humble kid and got good good family back no Mike

And Jen so Mike fer so Mike fer was a was an athlete at mishala uh his his brother CJ played for me my first year CJ was just a tough tough kid whether he he was on the football field whether he was on the baseball field he wasn’t a very skilled

Basketball player as you remember but he was just a competitor uh Justin was a great football player Justin could have been a really good basketball player too but he he decided to to stay with uh with footballs now on the Notre football team and playing tight end just a great

Family and success has never gone to any of the Fisher kids heads they just come out the next day and they just compete just go play I know so we wish uh the caveman the best well let while we’re talking High School let’s talk about some of these games we got coming up

Here we’ve got regionals and you’re going to be at Michigan City so you’re going to do the Michigan City Regional is that right I’m yeah I’m just doing I’m just doing the uh one game no it’s two games Warsaw 19 and5 is playing uh Crown Point Clint swans Crown Point team

19 and5 I think I think that’ll be a really good game also was was Warsaw was Warsaw a surprise winner over at Elkart I I don’t think so no I don’t think so either I think I think I think Penn uh for the most part uh and and I don’t

Want to say this I mean but I think they had a great season I think they won some games maybe that they that the games went down to the close and and their kids just competed and played hard I know they had a couple of injuries at

The end of the season uh but uh I think I think Warsaw was a really good team Warsaw got on a hot streak that’s for sure well well this I mean they had a 68 Postman man joerger is 68 it was really skilled El rhods the the great pen coach

And former Warsaw coach told me that he spent some time working with the kid in the summer they they have another guard named Bricker who who could score really really well and and and as we know Matt Moore is is a great Coach man the Moore Brothers Scott Moore is the head coach

At uh at uh Grace College the number one team in the nation yeah and so the more Brothers can can coach him up so yes it’s Warsaw and Crown Point and uh East Chicago Central 22 and4 will play the caveman at five o’clock uh on Saturday evening at Newcastle at Newcastle the

Should be some I mean cooko at 25 and three versus fisers at uh 25 well and one of the things I was looking at out of the top 10 teams in 4A there’s only five left and as soon as I said that I my son Scott says yeah because they all

In the same sectional they all beat each other up last week yeah down in Central Indiana that that is the case so and and it just happens now you got Fishers now here’s what’s interesting Fishers and cooko think about geographically how close they are together up and down US

31 they got to go over to Newcastle to play no I I know I know but think about this they got a big gym cuz that’ll be the feature game in the state yeah I don’t think there’s any question but but think about this think along these lines

Fiser lost Jaylen harelson who was their best player as a sophomore and he transferred to lamir this year so you throw Jaylen harelson on that fisers team now and I I don’t know they got two freshman playing playing guard yeah and you throw you throw Jaylen on that team

How much better they’re already 20 20 uh 25 one yeah so how much better they they’re ranked number one Noblesville is number two Westfield is number three yeah and cook I mean cook with the big boy right big boy and uh so you got number one and number four and then you

Got Fort Wayne North uh you got Northside and Wayne going over to Logan sport to play uh against Fort Wayne Wayne at Greenfield we we already talked with uh with Drew shalev his Avon ball Club 15- 10 versus Lawrence North Lawrence North is number five uh at Southport you got New Palestine

Versus Ben Davis Ben Davis is number eight uh I I think I think I think this sets up to be a pretty I think that’ll be a pretty good ball game yeah I think I think Jeffersonville shiron Wilkerson who took over uh for Joey loose at Jeffersonville at 18- s versus

Evansville Harrison at 20 and4 Harrison’s good this year uh Jeffersonville beat new Aly Jimmy Shannon’s team in the in the sectional championship game you know and Shannon’s team Shannon’s now an assistant over there at Charlestown and they think they got I can’t remember if they got to the

Finals or not but they they’re they’re a 3A school and then your last one’s at Southport with Franklin who’s having a great year and they’ve got to play number nine Center Grove yeah and Center Grove and Center Grove has to beat Martinsville who won four games in the

Regular season uh and gets to the the championship gton South I think on Friday night which was an upset yeah so there’s some great there’s some great games uh in 4A 3A I mean Fairfield uh having a great year Derek Heinen uh who played at Columbia City for Chris

Benedict and then who played collegiately uh I want to say at Huntington North uh and maybe Indiana Wesley and he’s the head coach of Fairfield 19-6 they play Hamond n 20 and7 at Triton uh the F4 mentioned St Joe Indians I’m sorry excuse me the St Joe engin I’m sorry excuse me Huskies

The St Joe Huskies at 17-9 will play John Glenn at 13- 13 and I will be there for that that’ll be a seven I’m doing we’re going to do both games that are over at uh at Washington one’s a 3A and one’s a 1A game who’s who’s the onea

Game well it’s uh damont Christian and I’d have to look I can tell you I can tell you Michigan City Marquette yeah no Michigan Michigan City marquette’s pretty good who who’s 11 and 15 but they’re favorite in this game I mean because they’ve played a bunch of and that’s the one

Thing that’s deceptive and that’s why I was talking about top 10 and this that and the other here’s Marquette who’s 11 and 15 because they’ve been playing 3A and 4A teams well and we talked about that with Norman Anderson’s uh Liberty Christian team last last week they won

Last week too I mean I mean they won uh the section of Triton and a Norman onea team played nine either 4A or 3A schools which you get beat up a little bit but you’re but you’re used to playing in big games but the the northern semi State

Here for for the 3A is Hammond n Fairfield Jean Glenn St Joe Peru and West Lafayette over at uh at Logansport down at lapel you’ve got Delta and Concordia Delta’s number seven they had a big win over Yorktown in yeah and so and so your thoughts of maybe St Joe if

St Joe can get through Glenn St Joe would have a great opportunity it’ll be St Joe PRI St Joe and Delta in the uh in the in the semi state so let’s talk about Garen Catholic at Greenfield Garen Catholic 20 and seven uh and Pete Smith

The great Pete Smith we had Pete on a few weeks ago Pete is going into the Hall of Fame and you and I are going down to the Hall of Fame induction because Pete Smith get is getting inducted Jimmy Web South Ben Adams Eagle in 1973 is getting inducted uh Dan

Dockage is getting inducted and you and I are going to take a trip down there but Pete Smith started that uh that program at Garen Catholic from scratch from scratch uh his first team was a a freshman team his second team was a JV team his third team was a varsity team

So and Garen cathic has won two state championships but describe the play at the end of the game here we’re just going to show it to you so you got watch watch the screen you’ve got uh Bruff is up one and they have the ball out underneath

Garen has the ball out underneath their own basket with like what two or three seconds left how to throw it in Garrett trying to win it here alop they’re going to have to throw up a desperation underneath the layup is over W oh my gosh desperation was right

Jim that’s what it was and that’s what happened look at the crowd how believable finish and an incredible intelligent over thehead pass to do something with time running out he made it play fin that is a heads up play by Ben Grom who knew Tom was running out instead of panicking he

Threw the basketball at his asking to give his team a teammate a chance to make a play and that’s what happened what an unbelievably heads up by Ben as thear Scottsburg 2 at Southridge Southridge 19-6 versus Evansville bossy 14-1 then you go to then you go to 2A wall bash at 20 and5

Versus Westview Wayne Barker who was our superintendent uh mwan and played for me at Wapahani his son is an assistant coach at West I saw a picture of them on on instag yeah his son is an assistant coach at Westview and Westview has has just been always been very good Rob Rob

Yoder always did a great job at Westview yes and was an outstanding coach no so North Judson won a section no 15- n versus Gary 21 kind of a surprise because Hein was was in the top 10 and Hein was supposed to win that this year

Uh Wapahani 23 and2 no surprise well you got a big game there at lapel you got number two and number three yeah I mean Cliff Hawkins number two and number three at at Tipton or at I’m sorry that’s gonna be that game’s at lapel at

Lapel no wait a minute now so there I am I’m taking magic mind and I got that messed up I’m taking magic mind and I got that mess got you got the you got the names right you just got him in the wrong can you put our magic mind

Uh so magic mind is a new trial topic and it it it’s for memory it’s for uh being in the moment it’s for feeling good uh magicmine domcom use the discount code Coaches Corner 20 you’ll get a 20% discount now like I said I’ve been taking it for maybe eight to 10

Days right my my son-in-law got me some of it and I I remember your name now you’re back King right you got it finally yeah and I got it finally after after our 33rd show but can say this much I do notice a difference man I do

Notice a difference and as we get older we we need just a little fade a little bit well I think we all start to fade a little bit magic mushrooms magic mind.com a new Tropic uh and again Coaches Corner 20 you get a 20% discount for Wayne Blackhawk has always been one

Of the one of the big uh winners in 2A 20 and six again versus Lafayette Central Catholic at Frankfurt Lebanon Park tutor back in play a little bit Park tutor’s back in it I mean Eddie Schilling did such a good job at Park tutor they they went through a little

Bit of a Down of a Down cycle now they’re back in at 19 and5 against Irvington prep uh Northeastern Brent Ross at Martinsville he’s done he just does a great job at a little school north of Muny Northeast I’m sorry north of Richmond north of Richmond at Northeastern yep yep 18 and seven

They’ll play Park Heritage 22 and5 Switzerland County versus Forest Park uh Tom Beach remember Tom Beach down at Forest Park had great counties down just that’s where the where the casino is down on the river and Sullivan 21 and5 versus David bent uh Brownstown Central team and they’re number one and his kids

Real good real good and he’s been there he’s been there like 30 years yeah yeah and he’s an old Hanover Hanover boy he played at Handover back in the middle 90s yeah and then class onea you got Marquette Catholic like you said against theat Christian South Ben Washington

That’s our 4:00 game over at South Ben Washington on Sat Tri County versus Elkart Christian at North Judson Elkart Christian’s good this year 16- n Satan Catholic versus Liberty Christian Satan Catholic 19 and seven Catholic School in Richmond that’s supposed to be a good game and that’s the prelim game at

Newcastle before the big Fishers cooko game yeah and I told I told the great Norm Anderson the head coach at uh Liberty Christian played for me and I told nor I said nor you win the section I’ll be there but obviously I got to go do the

Misha yeah exactly so I gotta give him a r I Gotta Give Norma call and say listen buddy you get to the semi State and we’ll be there Frankfurt Fort Wayne Canonbury versus North Vermilion uh Martinsville so I’ve I’ve been to oldenberg Academy I’ve I’ve seen their

German play I’ve seen them play they’re really good uh at Martinsville versus Greenwood Christian Bethesda Christian versus Clay City at Washington I’ve been to Clay City it’s hard to get to yeah and uh Christian Academy at legodi versus bar reev and bar Reeves number one 23 and two bar Reeves number one in

One 23 and two and then Trinity Lutheran versus Evansville Christian Evansville Christian’s number two so they got the good teams are down there in the South that Christian Academy bar re game is number one or number four so they’ve got some good games there at legod coming up

Wow we we have I mean so we’re in the thick of it now man we’re in the thick of it we’re down to the Sweet 16 and you all of these reminder are one game regionals and then they will draw on Sunday to see who goes where for for the

Following week for semi States and the semi- states are two games right yes you got to win morning and night in the semi state which which is what we were used to and the regional were two games too right I I I I I remember the regional

Being at the Wigwam and we we played we played number one in the state we played uh uh Muny South when they were really really good Jimmy Jack how was was coaching them and we beat Muny South in the in the morning game and then had to

Come back and and play a really good J County team that was coached by a gentleman named Jim Black who had been a a college coach uh at Arkansas Little Rock and uh we we beat Jay County and then and and then we and then we went to the semi-state the morning game

At hle we had to play Shelbyville remember John Heaton the good John Heen teams at Shelbyville and then we won that game and had to play at night against Ben Davis and lost to Ben Davis by a couple Davis and that’s one of the things now that I’ve started coaching

I’ve seen that the other side of the story about having games in your own gym you know because you know I grew up in Anderson so the sectional was in The Wigwam the regional was in The Wigwam so so we’d play five games before we had to

Go to Fort Wayne to the Coliseum for semi state so and I now I always heard the people you know cook mod have to come in Carmel would come in they’d be going you know if this game was at our place you know one of those deals

Because it was a home game for us well if you if your gym was The Wigwam okay but your gym wasn’t The Wigwam and um hey we’re about ready to uh deep six this show but I got to I got to just mention I USB they women we had Steve

Bruce on last week their women’s team um beat oliv Nazarene 91 to 87 to finish 30-1 19-1 they’re the CCAC tournament champions for the second year in a row Tenley Phelps about a 511 Post player uh led him with 30 points and eight rebounds now they’re waiting to see who
