Show me something Daniel Jones Show me something Daniel Jones Show me something Daniel Jones Show me something Daniel Jones Show me something Daniel Jones Show me how to relax during a bye week show me something Daniel Jones Show me something Daniel Jones Show me those beautiful North Carolina Legs and there it is Peter King with Dan Patrick at the Super Bowl I think in Arizona that was in Arizona when Dan was at the minor league ballpark there show me something Daniel Jones there will be no more show me something Daniel Jones is on Fridays at least not coming from

Peter King maybe somebody else or we’ll play that clip I have a feeling Peter you may need to tune in because you never know when there’s going to be a show me something Daniel Jones Montage on a Friday during football season uh and we still wait and the giants still

Wait for Daniel Jones to show them enough to make him the long-term guy that’s the irony of all of it he still hasn’t shown us enough but I I’ll say this about Daniel Jones at the end of last year at the end of last year Mike let me let me let me

Just ask you this let’s go back in time it would be now 57 weeks 57 weeks ago if we were doing this show Daniel Jones has just waltzed into Minnesota and beaten your beloved Minnesota Vikings in the playoffs and I would bet on that day you

And I would both have said oh Daniel Jones Giants quarterback of the future he has clinched it this year and and and look that’s one of the things about the game and I I kind of wish I had written about this a little bit today but and and look obviously Terry Bradshaw’s

Career is very much an outlier when it comes to this because he was down for a good four years when he first came in I remember asking Tom Brady after his second Super Bowl man I said you you were you probably were really fortunate in coming to the Patriots and he goes if

I got drafted by the Raiders or the Cardinals I’d probably be be on my third team right now if I was even in the league and and the point is the point is very simple we have lost all patience with quacks and I don’t know why Daniel

Jones is being thought of now as some Slappy who probably isn’t going to be the Giants quarterback anymore he got injured that’s what he got injured if I were the Giants quite honestly I’d be trying to build a team around Daniel Jones not looking for the next Daniel

Jones I mean we’re at the point where we lose patience with guys not just early in their careers but we lose patience with them after they get their second contract and I don’t know whether last year the demands that were reported Daniel Jones when he was trying

To get a new deal with the Giants they hadn’t done the fifth year option with him so they had to get him signed or they were going to do the franchise tag and some fairly big numbers got out there but you know that’s the thing folks to remember when you hear the

Numbers that you think are fairly big the market keeps going up 45 million per year as an asking price really isn’t outlandish when you settle at 40 and the market’s at 55 and the salary caps at 255 now so I think that put a bad taste in some people’s mouths that he’s trying

To Parlay One Good Year into this massive contract but it wasn’t an unreasonable position and you’re right he was injured last year but there is a sense that this is it for him that maybe they’ll draft somebody let’s see what he does this year it’s upper outout for

Daniel Jones again two years after it was uper out for him in 2022 and maybe that’s good cuz the last time it was up or out he went up he played well and I think it’s critical for a lot of people in New York this year for Daniel Jones

For Brian deall for Joe Shane for a lot of people in that regime uh we’ve seen a lot of impatience from John Mary in recent years and there were some people who were thinking that maybe last year I don’t think you know they don’t have the Tommy DeVito experience last year maybe

Right they continue their trend of two years two years two years I mean they’ve done it for three prior coaches they get another year from Tommy DeVito and now it’s up to Daniel Jones again we didn’t I didn’t intend we were just having fun with the Daniel Jones Montage but this

Is good stuff about the future of the New York Giants the team you grew up rooting for Mike I’ll tell you um I’ve got to know Joe Shane a bit I think Joe Shane is terrific I think he is smart he’s got an incredible ethos about him not only

In look every General man not every but general managers know work hard if they don’t they’re not going to be general managers for long but I mean everything else when when Brian Deo and Joe Shane got to the New York Giants there was so much they had to fix and so many things

That had fallen through the cracks in terms of long-term adjustments to the organization you know scouting staff everything like that but also to the team and to the talent on the team and I think one of the things that Joe Shane has done and look the game is massively

Covered so anytime there’s anything about saquin Barkley everybody is just going to kind of go crazy but I think Joe Shane has had the right idea both about saquin Barkley and about building his roster he knows that some mistakes were made financially and you know there were some contracts given out Kenny Gade

And stuff by you know by Dave Gelman and by that regime but he never complained about it he basically said look we’re going to get over this and then we’re going to be good and then it’s you know it’s on my watch anyway but I do think

Right now that Joe Shane does a very good job of letting the noise wa wash over him and I think he will in this case too I think he and Brian da will make an intelligent decision on the quarterback and again they might have already said oh my God we love Bo Knicks

We got to get Bo Nicks in this draft I I have no clue no clue but I do think this is the first time you know that I’ve watched the Giants basically since the Ernie a Cory days and and and some of the Jerry ree days honestly because

Jerry ree had some really good moments as a general manager and franchise architect but I haven’t really trusted um this office for a while and now with Joe Shane I really do think they’re in good hands hi it’s Mike Florio thanks for watching PFT on YouTube hit subscribe for the latest news and

  1. The standard for "franchise QBs" has become astronomically high. We were used to having one, or sometimes two, great players lightning the League up every season. Now, eye-popping plays are expected every sunday, monday and thursday. Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, and Lamar have set such a high standard as young starters, that nowadays a QB has to immediately turn into a "prodigy" (Purdy, Stroud, Love, Hurts, Herbert), or he falls into the "probation regime" (Dak, Geno, Cousins, Mayfield, Goff, Lawrence, Tua, Daniel & Mac Jones, Fields, Pickett, Carr, Young, Howell…) where he's being convicted of "fraud" or "bust" every time he throws a pick or misses a read. I guess "QB bashing" is now a the main bread and butter of the media.

  2. Giants are a playoff team with Tyrod starting week one, there is not a single doubt. every damn metric imaginable proves Jones is not a starting qb in the nfl. you have to completely ignore film and data to think otherwise. this is the most tiresome conversation in the nfl at this point.

  3. Ask those same people what they thought about Jones a week later after he forgot to show up for the playoff game against the Eagles. Bet you get answers more in line with what people say about him now.

  4. And people view Jones that way because he literally had one good year out of five and good for Jones is 15 TDs which would be a terrible year for any other QB.

  5. The problem with Daniel has never been whether he’s a starter in the NFL. This year has been horrible, but we have 4 years before that showing us he is definitely among the 32 best QBs in the league. I’d say depending on his surroundings he’s somewhere between 24-14.
But that’s the biggest issue. He still has a wide range of outcomes, needs the team to work fluently around him and playcalling needs to be on point. That’s not a franchise QB and sure as heck not somebody I want to keep making excuses for because he’s being paid to overcome shortcomings in the roster. After all he’s paid around 20% of the cap.
It’s been shown for years now that you need an elite QB to compete consistently and that’s just something I cannot foresee with Daniel. He’s not shown anything in that realm consistently. Schoen and Dabes are not dumb, they know that as well. It’s just that it’s also not that easy to find the right QB, especially when you won the most useless and meaningless games, dropping out of the Top-3 picks in almost season.

  6. Jones was one of the worst quarterbacks that got many opportunities to keep his job! A black quarterback would be a backup now!

  7. I think it's a really bad idea to try to build a team around a QB who's had 2 major neck injuries and just tore his ACL. They should absolutely draft a QB in case he gets injured and they probably can't build a team around him because after next year his salary bumps up to 50+mil a year. They are better off resetting the QB window and building around a different player at this point. The man is broken and it's the Giants org's lack of giving him an O line that broke him. Plus, when the backups came in they played exponentially better than he did. It's time to move on. It's been 5 years and we're still asking what if? Like come on man.

  8. Good riddance. So happy he's retiring. Ugh. Made a career out spreading nonsense to fit his agenda. Mostly all these sports writers, "insiders" and "experts" are all full of nonsense. I'll never forget back in 2010 when he said the Vikings will ABSOLUTELY move to LA and when Steelers suspended Ben Roethlisberger for his off-field issues, the Steelers will CERTAINLY trade him away and NONE of those happened all because his sources told him 😂 😂 😂.

  9. Even this year when the OL play was awful so was the QB play join failure this year is on the gaints not him please protect this man!!!!

  10. He got himself injured, because he wouldn't throw deep to open receivers or receivers that would be breaking open. He couldn't say protections, and he couldn't read the pass rush. DJ did himself in.

I'm not saying that if the Giants can't snag a QB in this draft, that I'm not willing to go into there season with hope, but it'll be reserved if DJ is the QB.

Even after the MN game, yeah that's was wonderful and exciting, her did most of his damage on the ground. You can't live like that, as was proven this year. He was a one read and run QB, you take those away, and he had no where to go. You can blame the OL, but he should have been on his 3rd read at the snap. He should have known where to go with the ball, and where the rush was coming from. Bad analysis.

  11. "Reaching" for another QB, could be another set back.
If a good one falls into their lap than teach him, keep him on the sidelines till another line is built.

  12. Man , are you not an expert in game which you never played / why ? Nothing but gobbly gob conversation , an its a cultural problem. Its ruins sports talk , listing to people with no talent in sports giving advice ?

  13. You guys in these comments are the reason why my favorite team sucks smh … you guys are sitting here rooting for a guy who CAN'T stay healthy, coming off major surgery and was NEVER consistent even when healthy smh

  14. Give DJ the best oline, another top-tier running back, two number one WR’s, and two all-pro tight ends, and I think we got something with him lol.

  15. That interception to Witherspoon in the Seattle game was pretty damning for Daniel Jones as he looked that way the whole time… Hearing Witherspoon talk after the game about how they saw on film that Jones tended to lock in on his primary read.. so it was an easy move for him to undercut it when he saw Jones looking that way… should tell evaluators all they need to know about his QB IQ. Sort of what 3 years of watching Justin Fields has shown the Bears front office to make them keep their #1 pick this year and use it on a QB. Sure, he's been on teams with lousy O-Lines and lack of offensive weapons/lack of talent. But the Giants paid up on a QB that clearly isn't elite. He's a 20-25th QB among NFL starters. They'll likely stick with him for another season as they have too much $ tied up in him and too many other holes they need to draft for. But they'll need to do something after 2024 if they want to contend with dallas & Philly. If I'm the Giants, I seriously consider trading away their #6 pick to one of the teams desperate to move up for a QB, in the hopes they can be like Chicago in next years draft… They end up with a #9-16-ish 1st Rd pick this year, plus a #1 next year?

  16. Would be nice if there were more fun & winning memories w Daniel Jones over the last 6 years. Mainly because of being over drafted by Gettleman & then the $160 Million Contract after one solid year, whenever he plays bad, I gotta stop remembering all those times he has completely stunk & take it one game at a time.

  17. All he needs is 2 8 feet receivers and a couple 7 foot lineman and he could be an average QB

  18. I think the contract was undeserved. Beating one overrated team in one playoff game does not add up to that ridiculous contract. To me, some of that money should have went to Saquon Barkley, a DESERVED player who WANTS to be a lifelong player and is the real face of the franchise. Them Buffalo guys screwed up and now we're locked in with our own Carson Wentz-type bust 🙄.

  19. I remember Phil Simms going through much the same. Playing on his back for the 1st few years and he turned out pretty good. I still like Jones

  20. He got injured?

Nah before that he didn’t know the offense as well as he should have

Looked down receivers and one route.

    Come on man

  21. six years. Stop acting like we haven’t given him time! Very few places have perfect situations with a perfect line and perfect receivers! The freaking chiefs did it with nobodies as receivers, people who aren’t top 10 receivers. They have a Mahomes and that’s what has given them wings.

  22. totally agree with Peter, we have never seen a decent team around DJ. The line needs fixed and we will see a better performance out of DJ and the giants as a whole

  23. Oh really? We should stick with DJ? Why did Tyrod and Tommy have success with the same o-line? Daniel Jones isn't a good quarterback. We need to move on.

  24. Daboll set him up…Call a winning game instead of trying do EXTRA.. he realized this when he DID NOT HAVE DJ.. Daboll can call a game when he has Devito and Tyrod

  25. Everyone likes to bring up the Vikings game but fail to mention the Eagles game the following week.

  26. My opinion on DJ as a lifelong born and raised Giants fan is that he has it in him. Injuries and consistency have been a problem. O line. That's all I have to say there. He probably won't be our future but he is an NFL QB. He has never wavered. Idk what will happen and I'm not a dj apologist. Just give him a chance like you did 2 seasons ago

  27. The Evan Cohens of the world keep screaming 160M. They've clearly done no research on the contract. Which is hilarious because it's there job. Can we just call the morning show on ESPN the Michelle Smallman show. Canty just says anything. The amount of bridges he's burned is so funny to watch. Anyway DJ is a guy. But I believe they'll move on

  28. Listening to evco and Canty in the morning as I drive to work at 6:15 is just a reminder of how far espn has fallen. Give Greeny whatever he wants to go 6am to noon lol. The noon show and Freddy and Harry are gold

  29. Look at these old farts trying to explain why giving dj a 80 milliion contract was worth based on the market for a duke qb who threw 15 tds lmaoo in 18 games and who’s offense was carried by saquon (65% of offensive snaps) this is what’s wrong with people.

I was never okay with giving him a top 10 contract since he will never be a top 10 qb. Idc what the market is, he threw for 3k yards and 15 tds.. saquon was the team. This is why these old farts need to retire and let the new guys in.

I think the gm messed up and will get fired. Look at what kayvon said about the locker room and how sb didnt get a contract but dj did yet sb was the offense. Coaches fighting, there’s a big mess in that team. Thanks to the pres/gm.

I stopped the video after he said i would of given him the contract based on the market..

  30. REALLY PETER the giants are going into year six with this guy and all I hear from all the talking heads who support him is THE MINNESOTA GAME. Give me a break…..1) it's one game…..2) the vikings defence was one of the worst ever to make the playoffs…….3) show me a body of work, multible games, multible seasons that warrant this type of defence and more over the way over the top contract that puts him in the top 5 paid qb in the league. Please stop with this nobsence

  31. Building around Daniel Jones is like building a house on quicksand. It would be foolish and if Schoen wants to be unemployed then he should go along with that dense idea.
