Let’s talk golf shoes! First look at the new Under Armour Phantom golf shoes, a look at Malbon’s FootJoy collab with their classic Traditions, and a look at a couple of favorites from my golf shoe rotation from 2023.
Hey guys Joe here again back with another video where I talk about stuff um in this one it’s going to be mainly about this pair of shoes that I just got in so if you are here you might have typed UA Phantom golf um so this is a
Brand new golf shoe from Under Armour that has inspired me to talk about the golf shoes that I’m going to be putting into my rotation this year and um two of my favorite pairs from last year uh all right let’s get into it so in the actual Phantom box I got
The white and gray ones um these retail for $140 and you can search for them right now at underarmour.com um they are stormproof which means I think they are waterproof and actually it says right in your box waterproof and breathable onee warranty waterproof um so practicality wise I
Mean they make a lot of sense right they’re spikeless but they do have the grooves in the bottom um I do tend to like uh like these um not the biggest fan of wearing the crazy cleats everywhere um but I don’t mind it I mean I switch golf
Shoes pretty often um so that’s probably something else that you uh I have I’m I’m I’m a collector of sneakers and I I do have um quite a few pairs of golf shoes as well um I have friends that um work for Under Armour and work in their golf
Um department so I do love showing them support by um grabbing a pair each year and kind of just running running through it last year actually um I have right here I think this was last year the year before I don’t even remember what these were called but I thought they were kind
Of cool at the time um very breathable mesh all around I mean you can see I put a few rounds in them I was planning on playing them pretty much all last year and be my primary golf shoe that didn’t quite last um they weren’t as comfortable as I would have
Wanted them to be um you can see they’re pretty I clean them up a bit but they’re pretty dirty but like these spikes here were it’s a very interest it was an interesting take it was wasn’t the biggest fan but um I tried um I know about sizing so these
Are actually a 9 and 1 half wide typically I wear a 9 and a half in most things um Air Max’s Jordans um Nike basketball I go half size up I wear a 10 and like Kobe and LeBron’s um they fit a little more narrow and have more padding in it um
Dunks n and a half New Balance n and a half most shoes N9 and a half so I figured 9 and a half would be good good to go here these were 9 and a half wide and they still felt a little small small narrow and
Um wasn’t the biggest uh fan of the fit so for these just dropped it so for these Phantoms I did go with a size 10 um they fit pretty comfortably um these are a size 10 regular width um if feel pretty comfortable down the mid the midsole I’m
Sorry the midfoot um and little bit long on the um the toe box but that’s okay I mean I’m probably going to wear um decently cushioned socks but just having them on my feet just tried them on real quickly really really comfortable um this hover uh midsole is quite thick you
Can see that right there is pretty thick um nice little insole here with cushioning also I think they did a really nice job with this I’m really looking forward to because I again very practical but I think it also looks pretty good um now that’s subjective right I mean I’m
I’m a sneaker guy I like the way things look um but again that’s my taste right I like these little heel cap you can read all about the actual technical aspects of the shoe um just wanted to show it to you um and talk a little bit
About the way it fits because I didn’t see any information about that um so hopefully that helped you with um this first look at the UA Phantom golf shoe again I went with the size 10 I typically wear a nine and a half so I did go half size up
Um I think an armor has a pretty good return policy though so if you if you want to try a different you know multiple sizes um I probably would have tried the N9 and a half wide again but that color weight wasn’t actually I don’t even know if this one comes in a
Wide um Under Armor also has their Drive Pro which actually markets um improving your game uh so you can look that up on their website also I I went with this pair this time um and not the not the pro model um another sneaker that I’m
Adding to my rotation this year is one I bought last year off of malbin um Golf website so this is the FootJoy tradition that um so FootJoy and malbin did a collaboration um so you can look up videos and read all about the actual foot boy foot Joy tradition um but this
Has a couple of different um collaboration standout um hits on it like this Malin piece here it’s got the bucket hat golf ball mascot see if I can that um got the little m in the inso um this is a in my opinion a beautiful beautiful golf shoe um it’s kind of
Like mixes the idea of a traditional classic golf shoe with a modern take um very seamless you know toebox there’s nothing to it and you have some of the perforated um hits that you would see on like a classic leather golf shoe um nice you know black hits on the eyelids
Here this one is um does have spikes on it really soft ones though soft plastic ones sizing wise N9 and a half um I have tried other foot Joy traditions and I went with a nine wide and it was too small I think and then a 9 and a
Half wide was too big so there was like no happy median except for this n and a half um so I’ll have to break them in they’re not as comfortable as the unarm ones right off the bat but um they’re not terrible I’m just interested to see how
Long long this is going to take until this creases pretty bad I wore them I literally wore them for an hour today at an indoor range um I didn’t even wear I I wore them when I got there and and switched them on and just HD some golf
Balls and see a little bit of creasing kind of building up already obviously they’re going to crease I’m not not looking for them to stay perfect but it’ll be interesting to see um because I think some some golf shoes are made to be a little bit more indestructible than
Others you know I think my beef with um Jordan golf shoes is that after typically after a couple wears they look completely dogged so like they don’t even preserve the look um sometimes on um I have a pair of white cement 3es that are like probably
One of my favorite um golf shoes one of my favorite Sneakers but the golf shoe iteration of it I wore them a couple times and they look pretty beat um I probably should have pulled them up here I pulled a couple pairs here but um I wasn’t planning on talking about that
One um so for example one that I did appreciate from Jordan so these so these two are the top two from last year that I’ll probably still continue to wear um depending on how I like the new stuff so I got a bunch of different Jordans last year Jordan 1es um Jordan
6es Jordan tws uh these were my favorite Jordan golf shoes this is a 12 so I am a big fan of twelves as is but also the fact that these were super super comfortable surprised the hell out of me um because 12 typically aren’t comfortable like regular 12s but the
Golf shoe there’s I don’t know if they stack the zoom on it or if there is any zoom on it or whatever it is um but yeah these were super comfortable they took a beating and they still don’t they they look decent right um I played probably 10 Rounds in these last year
And uh they still look pretty fine I mean I did I did wipe them down but um yeah I did go into the year thinking that these Under Armour ones were going to be my go-to and they just didn’t end up being that um but what did end up being
One of my F this was my favorite showe of my favorite golf showe of all time I’d probably say is the Tiger Woods um Nike tww 2013 I believe it is or they just call it the tww1 13 um it is a remake of a classic golf shoe this thing
Is built like a tank I mean the price tag is outrageous at like with 250 or something like that um comes with a cool little little um leather shoe bag um inside a classic orange Nike box but these things were pretty dirty and I literally just wiped them down with a
Little bit of soap and water and they cleaned right up so that actually um made me think that they’re even more worth it because I mean this material is very it’s like a thick waterprof um synthetic material but the inside liner you can see it it’s like um it’s very comfortable this was
Definitely hands down my favorite shoe left last year and I’ll probably be wearing it more this year as well especially now I just wiped them down and clean them up I’m like wow it’s a it’s a good shoe also I mean you know the whole the news with tiger leaving
Nike um shocked to most people but at the same time like what’s that what’s that mean for all his stuff right his logo um I think Nike’s keeping that the T W and as crazy as uh as an intro as a debut that Sunday red is making um I
Know I’ll be in the market to to try out some of that stuff so the goat’s the goat right um so yeah what do you guys think what what’s in your rotation right now um do you have a problem with um purchasing a lot of golf attire and
Shoes or uh do you wear the same imp pair for years and years you know like I think we’re all at different ends of the spectrum when it comes to how we do things right and um I guess my biggest thing is let’s just be respectful of that um so yeah if you
Have any takes on what your favorite shoe is anything that you would recommend um I T I typically because I am a sneaker person I do have a a weird take on what I like um all the ones I like are have white um based which could be a problem when you’re
Playing in different weather conditions right so I think the idea of being something more weatherproof would definitely be up more I’m starting to consider that more and more you know instead of just how something looks so yeah feel free to um have conversation about what it is that you’re looking for
