Many asoft players decide not only to go to events having a good time and hitting some opponents they also want to capture some memories on video be it for private purposes or to publish them on YouTube action cameras can become some very important part of your ASO gear some of

The most popular action camps in the ASO Community are made by run Camp a few weeks ago the company released a new interesting camera which is simply called the helmet camera let’s find out what makes this little Gadget so unique first of all some big thanks to

Ram who sent me this helmet camera for free this is my first video ever which is based on a cooporation with an international tech company and consequently a nice first milestone for my little Channel however the review represents my very own opinion on the camera I am free to tell you what I

Think with all the pros and cons the first thing I noticed when unboxing the helmet camera was it’s very compact size it’s not much larger than for example the scope cam 2 by one cam it also seemed very lightweight to me so the later use of my airsoft helmet will probably be quite

Comfortable inside the package you find a brief user manual a USB charging data cable which is finally adapted to C type USB as the most common and user friendly standard nowadays very good a screwdriver for mounting the accessories some self adhesive velcro patches and two mounting plays for your

Asoft helmet on the one hand there’s the velcro connection it actually seems to be an Innovative and versatile way to attach your camera not only to your helmet but also on blade carriers or Boonies for example but will it be stiff enough to enable the camera some shake free and stable

Recording on the other hand you have this little adapter which is meant to slide into the side whels of fast helmets M helmets and similar weaps used by a lot of asof players to be honest this seems to be the better solution for me as you would have a more solid

Connection to the helmet as with the velcro right but we will find out later one highlight of this helmet cam is the large internal but exchangeable battery it features a capacity of 2,000 Milah hours which shall be enough to record for about 7 hours all long I did

Not test this because even if it’s only 6 or 5 hours of gameplay footage you’re able to record your micr SD card probably will be out of memory before the battery dies But be sure if I did detect any way of Too Short recording times due to energy drains I will let you Know in times of Tik Tok Instagram stories and YouTube shots you maybe would like to record in Mobile solution rotated 90° vertically the one cam helmet cam enables you to do so without dismounting the unit just rotate the flexible cam lens and you get your vertical video recordings while doing so

You should rotate the flexible arm on the little knob near the body otherwise Lance and Camera body can get disigned which may result in faulty recordings to make sure both components are perfectly aligned just check the little orange mark on the rotation knob as long as it is on the same level as

The lens’s LED strip you should be good to go okay let’s set this thingy up for work I insert a Micro SD card of 64 GB capacity it can take cards up to 128 GB so we should be ready for some recordings now turning the camera on is

A lot easier than other action camps in my eyes thanks to the large power switch the unit can be turned on even with gloves very comfortably a short vibration and the word Flashing LED tell you that your video is recording now the LED is glowing blue when you connect the

Helmet cam to your smartphone via the Run cam app here you can see a first preview of the camera image to see the effect of the 90° flip L for example it’s also possible to adjust all the important camera settings here beginning with the FPS note that the camera is only able to

Record in 1080P but lets you choose between 30 and 60 FPS saturation wi balance and others can also be adjusted here time to use the helmet cam as it is meant to and mount it on my ASM helmet first I test the velcro system it is as

Simple as removing or adding some of your velcro patches just throw the camera on a free soft welcro surface and it will stick there my worries from the beginning concerning rigidity do not really come true the camera only moves if I apply an intentional force on the arm for example slide shocks or

Vibrations do not bother the camera as far as I can tell switching to the sliding bracket is very quickly done just loosen two screws and change the mounting system it only takes you a few seconds unfortunately the sliding system is not really usable with my helmet out

Of the box the bracket has way too much play inside the helmet whals and does not lock into position this not only will generate very unstable images but also could result in the camera falling off completely I tested this on both different whale positions and even on a

Different helmet but had the same results all the time maybe there are helmets out there on which the bracket fits better but maybe one cam could add one more adapter here which is a little wider so it would fit on more replica models for my test this means I will

Stick to the vro solution as I noticed during post production it sometimes can indeed be useful to check the user manual twice it refers to a locking hole which can be used with the longer screw from the package by tightening the screw you add tension to the installation and log it

In place unfortunately I noticed this too late when the testing already was done but I still wanted to let you know about this let’s continue the review now image quality is for sure something to consider when being in charge for an action cam for airof in my setup I

Compare the one cam thump Pro with the hel cam to show you the differences between both cameras both are set up the best performative way they can which means 1080p at 60 FPS for the helmet cam and 4K at 30 FPS for the thump Pro I don’t want to have too much

Influence on your own judgment of the camera’s image quality which is why I keep the following footage uncommitted that after you saw some footage examples of the helmet camera now it is time for me to give you some final words on the little Gadget all in all I really like

The ideas behind it one can cam had a good feeling for the typical needs of airsofters when designing an action Camp the large power switch the flexible mounting options and the vibration signals are very user friendly also the looks which are very similar to popular helmet flashlights and having no need

For an external power bank due to the large battery definitely are a plus a little downside for me is the range of possible resolutions if this unit would come with the ability to record in 4k it definitely L would be a huge step forward concerning the price point of

$59.99 this is still a great deal in my eyes especially for airsofter who are new to the video recording game in one of my next gameplay videos I will use the helmet cam for my footage so you will get more detailed impressions of image and sound quality there I hope to

See you when it’s time so long have a good one

  1. Oh wow! The price is decent, even considering that the video quality is not flawless
And you could just 3D print a rail mount that actually fits your helmets, if own/know someone who owns a printer

  2. search is broken again, for some reason, your video comes up when searching for "runcam 6" with quotes around it
