[Applause] come on yes that is just brilliant what a Roar as well he’s got some fans out there W this was the only chance I had to break history I mean to be honest with you I was really feeling nervous I was under pressure but uh

Every time I feel pressure it is it is always a reminder to me to to know that there’s something really good that I’m playing for I mean I cannot get out of watching this yes yes yes yes yes uh yesterday playing the last hole I

Had to change the ball I as playing for but when I reach the last hole I changed to my favorite number three and uh I got a B what I needed for me to make the card so this is my favorite number and this is my favorite

B well what a week it’s been for Ronald rugo from Uganda he made the cut right on the mark by making birdie at his final hole yesterday came out today all a bit Scrappy around the turn but what a finish this at the 15th [Applause] Got quite a good crowd going around with him as well brilliant staff he P the 16th this was at the 17th beautifully played and I mean he dropped four shots in six holes and birdie bird finish lovely 71 yeah beautiful stuff and we can hear from Ronald rugo

After that level power round of 71 talking to Iona Steven Ronald what a week you are having congratulations on everything you’ve achieved so far let’s start with yesterday becoming the first Ugandan to make the cut on a DP World Tour event what does that mean to you well

Personally it means a lot to me uh sorry before I take you back I’m not the only yes I’m the first Ugandan to make the cut and I’m the first Ugandan to get a whole new one on DP tour last year I got a I got a whole new one um coming into

This years’s Kenya open uh personally I had a few targets to hit uh one I just playing more than just making the cut I mean if I am just making the cut I would be limiting my potential honestly uh I feel great I mean it’s uh

It’s amazing I there are no words that I can use to express how I feel I’m so grateful for Kenyans my fellow ugandans flew all the way so right now honestly it’s not about me as a player it’s not about Uganda where I come from it’s about East Africa right now it’s and

Everything I’m doing I’m doing for East Africa can you share with us how you got into golf uh well honestly before as a soccer player but my older brother used to play golf so when I was a little kid about uh 10 15 he won one of the tournaments and

He was given a TV and a trophy so when he came home carrying a TV and a trophy as as was like Hey in golf when you win you win as as an individual whereas in soccer when you win a trophy anything you win you win as a team so since then

I gave up on soccer and I started playing golf and have you watched a lot of professional golf on the television and who’s been an inspiration for you uh without a doubt take outs uh I grew up watching take outs and uh everything I

Do I just look up to take outs I mean take outs without a doubt is the face of go what does this platform mean to you can you put it into words what this opportunity means for you individually and for everyone you’ve spoken of uh honestly it’s more than I can imagine

Like I said each and everything I’m doing right now um I’m doing for my country um each and everything I post on social medias I always hash golfing to ins so my first Dream as a player my first Dream my dream has been always to inspire people to inspire the upcoming

Golfers and uh i’ would like to see a few years from now more ugandans playing on on big tour not only ugandans and East Africans cuz I’ve been South Africa playing the sunshine tour I mean it’s amazing H so my only dream is to inspire people to inspire the upcoming

Golers I would really feel great like in the next few years when I see a few numbers from Uganda or East Africa doing what I’m doing even doing better than what I’m doing that’s my number one dream you’re an inspiration no doubt uh this was uh at the 15th today yeah

Yeah thank you that was at the 17th wasn’t it yeah this is where he goes for his good finish here birdie there second shot to he this was now his third up and over the bunker yes they love [Applause] it pretty special pretty special week for the young

Man and for you gandon Golf and he said for he African Golf and he’s quite right so this for the birdie birdie finish not actually that dissimilar to the putty hold to make the cut on Friday evening maybe that one was a little Slicker a little downhill left to wrer

Well done to Ronald rugo who has played his part in what’s been an excellent week here in Kenya and after that round he’s spoke with Iona Ronald what a week a birdie birdie finish to finish in a flourish can you sum it all up for us uh

Well I think I should say I blinked a bit on the first n uh I was struggling off the tea and when you look at my game uh I gain most of the T-shirt off the tea I struggled a bit on the front line but uh at least I

Managed to finish strong for me I mean uh I only pick the good things I don’t I don’t look at the bad things yeah I mean it’s been a great week for me I guess I guess this week I will I’m going to I don’t know uh honestly this week

I’ll get the biggest check of of my life since I since I turned professional but uh that’s not the most important thing the most important thing is I gave it my best and I’ve really represented my country I’ve really represented East Africa and I’m sure I’m really living my dream of inspiring

The the upcoming golfers for me it’s not about the check it’s not about how much I’ve won but it’s it’s it’s about making the Legacy I mean making the Legacy living my dream in inspiring the upcoming golfers and making my country proud that’s the most important

Thing to me we know the focus has been on the golf course but yesterday you got a chance to go into the commentary box over in the TV compound how was that experience ah it was amazing I mean this week I don’t know uh um I’m just

Grateful to God I’m just grateful to everyone that uh has been there for me I mean uh it’s been tough for me uh but there are people who has always been there for me supporting me uh helping me in so many different ways I’m really

Grateful for them and I don’t know uh I can’t thank them enough I can only continue playing well performing better and achieving my dream I think that’s the only way I can pay them back where do you hope that you’ll go from here what’s next for you Ronald uh from the

Day when I joined golf my dream has been always to play on DP tour and PGA Tour but still everything comes back to me it is my responsibility as a player um I strongly believe there’s nothing for free if you want something you have to

Work for it so I just have to work really hard so that I can achieve my dream or I can be where I want to be I mean uh last night I was looking uh uh I was on social media I mean um I can’t

Believe it um uh I just can’t believe it I mean uh it shouldn’t stop here actually right now I really have a lot to do I mean to me this should be just a starting point you’re an inspiration thank you for being here and we wish you all the best in the future

[Applause] yeah May [Applause] hello Uganda hello East Africa I’m by the names of ronay the first Ugandan who has made history by becoming the first Ugandan to make a cut on the D tour for everyone who’s out there who has a dream please don’t give up on yourself believe in

Yourself give it all you can and for the man who wins is the man who thinks he can I’m really grateful for the support and love that you really showed me I didn’t do this alone I did it with you he made our region proud he made Uganda proud he

Made East Africa proud [Applause] cheers [Applause] as the show of support Uganda GF Union made a resolution about 2 years ago to ensure that we support those who Excel and put in their own effort and we agreed that for the effort that Rayo Rayo has put in to make a cut in this

Tour and to go on and play his best to see that he ended where he ended Uganda GF Union would put up a prize money for him of 2 million Shillings cash and we’re happy for the achievement that you made so far the all number nine where he made

The famous Bud walking down the C bridge I was praying literally I was praying I like I’ve seen Miles drive right into the center of the Fairway he needs to chip this ball next to the flag and bues this hole we need a level I looked at

Him I scream we jump oh go congratulations to him he made history for us I encourage him to keep the best let him not relax because this is just the beginning of his career he has just to improve on what he’s doing and the sky will be the
