Cool welcome to the first press conference of live golf Jetta 2024 delighted to be welcomed by delighted to welcome smash GC we have our 2022 and 2023 live golf jeda champion Brooks Kus we have returning smash GC player Jason kre we have new Smash DC member gray McDow and our 2023 individual season
Champion Taylor G welcome guys thank you thank you you I’ll start with Brooks and Taylor about four or five months ago you guys had quite an epic playoff out there different teams Brooks you won your second live golf jeda champion and you also claimed your individual season Championship here last year positive
Memories coming back for you both Brooks uh for me yeah maybe not as much Taylor um but yeah I mean coming here back toback champ uh feels good I like this golf course I’ve obviously played well so some familiar um familiarity I guess I guess with uh Golf Course hasn’t
Changed over the last 6 years so um be ready to play this week yeah I mean um it it was obviously a good week uh and it the final round that I had here uh is is probably one of the best rounds of my life uh circumstantially speaking and so um
Could have turned out a little bit better uh if it wasn’t for that dude over there but um no it was it was a great week and uh very fond memories and and glad to be back nice to be on the same team this year yeah for sure it’s a
Lot better we’re also coming off the back of a team win in Vegas a couple of weeks ago Jason Graham how much confidence that give you going into this week and the whole year ahead I think um we knew what we were you know expected to do but I think uh
The group of guys standing here are are ready to play golf we’re ready to win you know multiple times this year so um nice to shake the rust off in Mexico and then get a team win in Vegas so um super excited with these guys and U looking
Forward to the rest of the year yeah I mean totally agree I think uh you know we there’s a high expectation level on the team you know there’s guys here that are going to compete individually every week and um you know as a group I think um you know
We really feel like we can compete as a team every week as well so you know certainly not uh not wrestling on our Laurels of Vegas you know we’re looking into the season and and really trying to be be the best we can be every week and
Keep working hard and you know we’ve all you know had some reasonably good success around this golf course and uh you know this is a week that we feel like as a team we can certainly compete I’ll hand over to Mike right here Brook so you’ve obviously went
Backtack Majors twice have you ever at any point in since taking up golf have you ever had a three peat I don’t think so I mean it’s hard to win alone and then you know to Back It Up’s pretty tough but to have I guess
A chance at a 3p this a m for two so I don’t know maybe hopefully change it this week how much different do you think the course will play in February post October uh I only played the back n today it seems like it’s in relatively
Very good shape for um this time of year I mean I I don’t think I’ve seen it in better shape uh Fairways are are phenomenal maybe a little bit softer than what it’s been probably in October but um yeah it’ be interesting I mean the wind direction is still the same so
Um play these holes enough to uh kind of get an idea on how to play them oh yeah g Mack you you won in February I think here right have you noticed any kind of difference since playing in October I think uh to Brooks’s point I think it’s
Slightly softer this time of the year I think um coming off the back of a hot summer September October conditioning can be a little challenging uh you know with water issues and uh you know this part of the world gets awfully hot so it was quite firm and crusty I think last
October um I think it’s definitely a little softer tiny bit Lusher um you know I think it’s in phenomenal condition um like Brook said the wind direction is about the only thing that doesn’t change around here it’s uh always blows out of the West Northwest
And um you know the guys that have been here multiple times the golf course pretty much there in front of you and plays plays very similar but the conditioning this week is probably the best of I’ve seen this golf course Brooks going back to you I think you’ve
Played the 18th 11 times in the last two years obviously bird it every time on Sunday you’re very familiar with that hole what do you think of it I’d prefer to play it a little bit less um I can answer that for him yeah
Um I mean do all right in the playoff I just wouldn’t like to go to a playoff again it’ be it’ be nice to win one outright but couple clutch birdies though yeah listen hey I I mean Taylor kind of forced my hand last year me made
A good putt there I had to make one so um yeah like I said I don’t want to do in the playoff again I’m tired of that hole Taylor when you were in the playoff last year did you figure you had to you were GNA have to birdie every every time
Just to stay even right yeah I mean uh in the the playoff hold that I lost I I had a really good number on the second shot and I I kind of knew that birdies was just going to drag this thing out and um you know I knew I’d already won
18 million so I said let’s let’s uh let’s send it and I tried I got aggressive and and uh just cooked overcooked it a couple yards too much and uh ended up losing because of it but like you said you know I just I saw the
Putt he made in in regulation to send it into to a playoff and the put he made in the playoff and you know just knowing him he’s he’s not going to uh let you win it with a birdie so I I I was trying to make an eagle and and close the thing
Out unfortunately didn’t happen uh but um yeah he he likes that 18th hole out here and one last question for me obviously uh Barry Sanders probably grew up izing him you got a autograph Jersey from him what’s that like yeah I mean he’s he’s one of the goats without a doubt I mean
Um he’s he’s a a living legend in in Oklahoma and and like you said every everybody back home knows him and um you know he’s is an incredible individual and uh one of the greatest you know NFL players of all time so uh super super cool and uh and that that that’ll be
Going in the man cave immediately all right thanks let’s start with English question Ben go love UK question for Jason um can you speak to the change in the team Dynamic from last year to this year new team members how’s that feeling feeling’s good I mean I’ve been
With Brooks for a couple years now but uh adding uh GMAC and Taylor has been uh been nice I mean you know the the four of us mesh well um you know we go out there we don’t necessarily need to play practice rounds together we know how to
Take care of business we know what we need to do individually to play well so I think uh Collective collectively that puts uh you know our Captain’s mind at ease and he can go out and do what he needs to do instead of kind of looking after some other people and making sure
That we’re doing the right thing so um I think uh the four of us are comfortable together and I think you saw that uh in Vegas and I think you’re going to see more brilliant and one for Brooks and Jason obviously Brooks and Jason it appears that you’ve got to be a member
Of the team and own a a franchise outside of your golf interest with the ball riding and the horses what are we expecting Jason to take on as a an alternate Sports investment we were actually just talking about this um yeah I don’t know we’ll figure out something
We’ll figure out something to get Jon um yeah it was crazy GMAC was here last year yeah I think when GMAC talked about the horse he’s like you want in sure so um sure like yeah might as well um but yeah we got we’ll find some don’t
Worry we’ve got a couple ideas I just done a I just done a interview with G and he’s alluding to a few more being added to your stable so uh opportunity for Jason to get on some more horses exactly I’m any final English questions all right we’ll hand over to
Arabic and Y will translate this is bil fromaz and Saudi Gazette his question is for you Brooks um he’s asking you um You’ve Won here um twice and are you going for the hatrick yeah that would be the goal um I’d like to be able to win individually
Or somebody up here win and then we win as a team I think that’s that’s the whole goal we’ve done uh everybody did their job and um in Vegas and just need to continue that uh that Rhythm and and that play and uh we’ll be just fine
Um his second question is for you greme and and Taylor um basically you guys are uh the new additions to the team and and uh what are your Ambitions what are your hopes uh what are you trying to achieve here at smash yeah I mean I think uh you know
Certainly speaking for myself very excited to be part of this group um you know world class players um you know I think you know obviously as a team we have the expectation level to compete every week and uh you know individually I think the momentum the work ethic you
Know everything that we’re doing as a group I think just drives everybody forward to to compete well individually as well so I mean I think um you know that was my best finish of my live career in Vegas um and I just want to try and take that confidence belief
Forward and and continue contributing to this team yeah we just want to win I mean very simply put you know that’s part of why I came over here uh is is just a win and so uh we have that capability you know every given week and it might not
Happen each week but you know I I I know each week that’s going to be the goal is to go win the tournament from ABC Roy greens this is n from abct TV uh he welcomes you guys to the kingdom and wishes you all the best uh throughout the
Tournament and U specifically brooksies like hopefully jedo will be uh lucky charm uh more and more for you uh the question is for Jason um they’ve seen you earlier uh being involved in uh the uh visit earlier from the association from nid um how important uh was it for
For you to be part of that uh year after year and to be out there with the kids and uh do um what you did eara um I think the four of us um you know not just the four of us I think each team each individual gives back to
Their communities um Taylor’s got his foundation gmax gives back I’ve been to Brooks’s Foundation I give back to my community I think uh you know each place that we can come to um and give back in any way we can that was just a a small form of what we
Can do individually um anytime you can do it for kids is uh is a great benefit for not only this area for anywhere we go and uh any any chance I get to give back to with with kids involved I’m I’m definitely all for it um the question is for you Brooks um
In terms of um the uh LIF Jetta uh Tournament being being held here year after year how do you think this is going to be um U more uh beneficial to the community how can the kids here pick up the sport more yeah obviously I think
Us you look at the group of guys that are here um just as part of this league is what’s going to draw kids that’s how I’m pretty sure each one of us got involved right you find your your idol or a guy you like and you follow them
And you continue to you know watch them throughout the year or you come out you get a chance to see him live um then you come out and you fall in love with the game and you fall in love with the guy and then you know you get to play a golf
Course that we’ve played I think that’s that’s pretty special and I think you can see the involvement um since I first came here in I think 2018 a lot more kids um are getting involved so it’s it’s a good thing thank you so much um Brooks the question is for you this
Is Ali from um uh building on the previous question of of you winning here uh previously in jeda but what would be the um difference this year in order for you to continue winning rather than doing what you kept doing yeah uh a lot of it comes down to
Luck um obviously playing good is is a huge thing um and like I said this golf course the way the way the wind blows you can you can get out of position pretty quickly and um you just got to understand where to miss it I think
Around here is is a huge thing and um always making sure you’re either chipping into the wind or you’re putting back up into the wind so um got to control your ball flight control it where you put it um and make make sure you miss it on the correct side thank you
Brooks um this is a from uh Sports 24 channel uh the question is is for you Brooks and grem and tayor um what does it mean um having you know such uh great talent coming to the team and adding to the team from your perspective Brooks and from your perspective Graeme and and
Taylor um uh what are you guys going to add to the team in your opinion uh I think it’s pretty simple like Taylor said we just we wanted to put a group of guys that first off know how to win I think that’s important you got to be
Able to cross that finish line um you got guys that have been in those spots won major championships guys that are going to compete for him for years and years and um guys that aren’t afraid I think that’s that’s a huge thing you look at this whole team and I don’t
Think anybody’s um going to back down they’ve got a chance to if they’ve got a chance to win they’re going to put their foot in the pedal and go and that’s uh that’s what we want but um it’s it’s also just a very easy group of guys to
Be around at the you know sitting around even for lunch just talking um just about random stuff life whatever whatever it is we’re all I feel like very close um I’ve gotten very close with Jay over the last four or five years um GMAC I mean I’ve known
GMAC since for 10 years now been pretty close and Taylor obviously just getting to know him even even better more recently it’s it’s been the perfect addition I’m I’m beyond thrilled and and happy to have him thank you Brooks guys yeah I mean I think uh exactly what what Brook said
You know it’s that winning mentality it’s that um that work ethic the preparation the um you the competitive spirit that all four of us have you know guys that know how to win you know T won three times last year you know Jason’s won some great events you know Brooks’s
Record stands for itself you know I mean I think the way he’s played the last 10 years you know it’s uh it’s contagious when you’re R guys that want to win that that high have high expectation levels that they want to achieve things and uh
It just kind of you know the rising tide kind of lifts all lifts All Ships you know and um you know I’m I’m excited so to be around to be around that winning mentality this season yeah just the competitive nature of of these three dudes is is fun to be
Around um and that was a you know from the get-go when talking with Brooks about the possibility of this that was a huge draw for me um I’m you know a pretty serious individual I take my craft seriously and um you know I I like
To compete and I want to win and so uh knowing that you know I was joining three guys that uh are are cut from that same cloth it I knew it was going to be a natural fit and um we were all going to benefit from each other um and like
You said we’re just we’re going to continue to push each other to be better uh week after week uh and and tournament after tournament and it it’s it’s going to be a fun Journey for this is Iman Muhammad from saham electronic and online um the question is
For you Jason um um smash um in terms of the team um what are you guys hoping uh to uh achieve in in this tournament apart from obviously like playing well and and and winning like what what are you trying to to achieve on individual
Level and as a team well um I think individually we’re all going out there we’re not none of us are going to Tee It Up without the intention of winning um I think collectively if we do that uh I think we’ll be at the top of the the
Leaderboard uh at the end of the week so um anything we can do to uh push Brooks a little bit and uh maybe knock him off that uh that top top spot might be uh might be beneficial but uh you know we don’t we don’t want to ruin his
Confidence moving into the major season either thank you this is AI from alaz newspaper she first of all welcomes you back here to jeda and uh she is saying that you guys being here and the others of course uh means a lot to them and seeing you year in year
Out and and the talent and and the type of uh performance you guys put out there is is really uh great to see and they thank you for that um um what are you guys hoping to really um do in terms of um you know like um
Performing at the highest level and um in terms of uh you guys um doing something that you’ve not done in the previous year as a smash team I mean I think the same thing our goal is to win um then the best thing these guys can do is go out and try to
Play the best they can um I think the way that even the formats changed this year where we’ve got to count four scores on Sunday I think that plays right in our hand um because I know these guys aren’t afraid they’re going to go out there and and Co fire a low
One GMAC did it Sunday in Vegas I think that was pretty obvious how how great he played um of a round and um you know that’s that’s what we need I mean I I kind of even laugh at it we were sitting around after Vegas even for a half
Second realizing that man it could have been even a whole lot better um you know and that’s that’s what we want to do every week is have a chance individually to win on the back nine and then as a team um you know just compete with nine
Holes to play give sh a chance and and see where it ends up that’s all you can ask for thank you guys huh I they thank you again guys for your time really appreciate it thank you
