REKAP Rush Hour 🚗: Chicago Bears trading pick? Keeping it? Rumors fly on opening day of NFL Combine

The #nflcombine has begun in Indianapolis and legendary writer #peterking dropped a nugget this morning in his column announcing his retirement. He said that the wind is blowing towards the #chicagobears trading the #1 overall pick in the #nfldraft.

Then Tom Pelissaro reported later in the day that all signs point to the #bears keeping it and drafting #calebwilliams. The rumor mill is swirling.

#codybellinger was in #chicagocubs camp today after re-signing over the weekend. The addition had made the #cubs the runaway favorite in the #nlcentral.

Question of the Day for 🍕🍕🍕 is on the #cubs moves after Bellinger

A big RB market is expected in #nfl free agency as #saquonbarkley #joshjacobs and #tonypollard are expected to hit the open market. The #bengals used the franchise tag on #teehiggins.

  1. I thought you were certain they were trading Fields and drafting Caleb? Why the change of heart? IMHO following this saga and reading the tea leaves over the past month or two I honestly feel signs point towards keeping Fields. Of course I don't have all the sources and inside info that Kap does though.

  2. Don’t get me wrong, Bellinger back in Cubbie blue is amazing, but what about 3B?? I’ve heard maybe Morel there, which would be a good choice to get his bat in the lineup.

  3. NO, I am not satisfied and don't feel the Cubs should stand pat at this point. Here is what I suggest.

First of all, they have to clear a 40 man roster spot. They have some excess players that should be traded; perhaps Wisdom, Madrigal or Mastroboni. I also an not confident that Mervis will make the cut, despite a short opportunity last year. They can strengthen their roster by trading at least one of them (or other excess perhaps?), without hurting the team and hopefully getting some real value in return.

As to free agency, I read where signing Chapman would be a good addition but likely put them over the salary penalty. Not so sure we need to do that right now, Iif there are any players that can/should be extended, get it done……and be very aggressive where there are needs to be filled at the trading deadline. I don't want them to save the money, but rather hold it in reserve to use when/if a player goes down or they find an unexpected hole to be filled at the trade deadline.

  4. Jf simps are so damn desperate for any story that has a hint of a chance of the bears keeping him. Poles ain't gonna keep of the worst passing qbs in the league.

  5. I know nothing about trading/ Investing and I'm keen on getting started . What are some strategies to get started with ?

  6. What is this new stuff we keep hearing every day Kap???
Literally, nothing has changed. It's the same reporters, yourself included, reporting on the same "rumors" daily. NOTHING has been released by the Bears officially declaring any decision.

Keep up the hustle in this downtime of NFL news. It's almost over. You'll have something new NFL newsworthy stuff to report once the Combine starts.

  7. This is why I stopped paying attention to all this nonsense a couple weeks ago. Nobody knows a damn thing about what Poles will do until he does it. lol

  8. Everything you hear is a smokescreen. This is smokescreen season. I will believe nothing until Poles makes the pick or makes the trade himself.

  9. I’m a 4/10 on the Cubs offseason if we are just talking player moves. I know Busch is a highly regarded prospect but boy would I have loved to have had Alonso at cleanup on this team. Still may happen next offseason but I think I would’ve added the extra prospect or two to get Pete. All signs to Mets not locking him up before his free agency, you’d think they’d be down to deal. Shota should be a good addition and I’m looking forward to the young arms trickling in over the next couple years. Go Cubs

  10. I gotta question for everybody that's salivating at the mouth for Williams. If they do pick him how long does he get to lead us to where we need to be? Everybody is ready to get rid of Justin after only 3 seasons not considering the fact that he came in with no real dependable weapons initially an incompetent coaching staff and system and a shitty o line. If Caleb is what everyone is saying he is "generational talent" "best QB in the draft" "the next Patrick Mahomes" then I feel like next season we should definitely make the playoffs and tbh by his second season we should be able to make it to the Super bowl. Because according to most of the media he's a much better QB than Fields is and technically he would be coming into a better situation team wise than Justin did and remember they're literally saying he's the next Mahomes. Pat Mahomes lead the chiefs to the SB and won by his 2nd yr so again if C Williams is everything that their saying then it should not take him more than 3 yrs to get us there ijs 🐻⬇️

  11. I would say overall I’m OK with the Cubs’ off season, we never had a chance with Ohtani and Soto didn’t make sense. The team is better overall than last year when we missed the playoffs by 1 game, thanks Rossy. I wouldn’t mind a reasonable signing of either Chapman or Montgomery but with the talent we have coming the team is in pretty good shape for years to come. Let’s also not forget the off season “pickup “ of Counsell. I like where we’re headed…Go Cubs!!

  12. Lol, I find it interesting how these fools are so eager to cast aside a known commodity with LOADS of upside potential in Fields, but when it comes to a completely unknown commodity in Caleb Williams, they got no problem anointing him as a generational talent, despite the fact that he's never thrown a single pass in the NFL! People never learn. If these fools had any idea what generational talent looked like, then Tom Brady (6th rd), Joe Montana (3rd rd), Dan Marino (27th OA), Aaron Rodgers (24th OA), and Pat Mahomes (10th OA) would have all went #1 lol!!! Hey Ryan, trade the damn pick for another gargantuan haul and continue building around Fields. Do that and you set this team up for the next decade! Ignore all the 20/20 hindsight gurus running around chirping the same tired nonsense that the Bears passed on CJ Stroud and can't afford to do it again. It's total BS! The village idiots will thank you later!

  13. Hey Justin Fans…

Remember when the PACKERS said: “We love Justin, we hope they keep him. We knew all we had to do was make him play QB, keep him in the pocket and we would win.”

How’s that for an endorsement? Give it up already, Waldron hasn’t even given him the playbook yet 😂
