Here for you we’ll get you through this Marty Gro work day got jackob Beck and Casey gains back there on the ones and twos both of our normal Tuesday guests are Clowning Around Shari’s on TV but dressed up as something ridiculous I’m certain and I’m not sure taking things

Too seriously on the job today then Glenn West our guy from go 247 is on the route over on St Charles with family over New Orleans so both those guys out today had to replace them so we did Zack Al covers Florida for Gators online he’s

Going to be with us in 30 minutes talking LSU in Florida that’s a 7 o’cl uh Central Time tip off from the oome tonight I’ll certainly get you ready for that one as well and then Lyn Rollins is going to jump on he’ll be on the call

For all four LSU baseball games coming up this weekend he and Ben McDonald all over it so welcome Lynn back to the show we’ll talk some uh some college baseball with him coming up at 2:15 uh the athletic had an interesting uh college baseball coaches survey that I want to

Get into a little bit later um Saints mock draft thoughts that I’m trying to maybe change my line of thinking on coming up in the next segment we’re going to start with a very very interesting piece that Ross Dellinger old friend wrote over at Yahoo uh titled

With college sports at a key juncture what does the future of the NCAA tournament and college football playoff look like and this segment from my perspective is not going to be one where I fire off a bunch of hot takes or give some sort of revolutionary solution to these issues

That are being presented in college sports it’s just more so to just kind of chew on what Ross has dug up with talking to a lot of influential people in college sports because I think everyone whether you like the changes or don’t like the changes or aren’t really

Aware of what the changes are I think everyone is aware that things are changing pretty rapidly in the world of college sports you’ve got an ilil that’s a big deal you got the transfer portal that’s a big deal there are hundreds of millions of dollars being distributed by conferences and they’re realigning by

The day it feels like at times um so there’s just a lot changing and we just don’t know what those changes are going to produce so I’ve kind of taken this piece that Ross wrote and it looks like I’ve like diagrammed a sentence back in like fifth

Grade where you used to take out maybe just do kind of an outline of what this to make of this whole thing and put each piece in its specific place and so I’ll kind of walk through my notes as I read Ross’s story and I welcome you to go to

Yahoo and check it out it was posted this morning at about 10:45 um the quote that he uses is a wave of transformational developments and he labels these transformational developments as a new compensation model for athletes I think we all agree that what’s gone on over the last two years

Has been chaotic at the very least like it just the amount of money being spent on high school recruits essentially is astronomical and maybe that’s here to stay maybe the market won’t support it but we all know that there are a lot of people that are in

The middle of this thing that are a little bit unhappy with it and would like to see it changed a little bit or regulated a little bit further okay well how does that look the other part is the overhaul of the college football playoff Revenue structure I’ll get into a little

Bit of that here in a second and the third is the expansion of the men’s NCW basketball tournament in well I guess basketball because I said it there so those are the three that he’s talking about change compensation overhaul of the college football playoffs revenue and expanding the NCA basketball

Tournament in March Okay so as you start to look through this the SEC and Big 10 are positioning themselves as the biggest dogs at the table that’s evident they’ve got the most money they’ve got the biggest TV Revenue deals they’ve got the biggest brands and we understand over the last

Three weeks they’ve joined together to form basically an advisory Council to try to figure this thing out instead of butting heads and trying to compete with each other which they’re still doing to an extent they’re also recognizing hey we’re the two that matter here let’s get

Together and try to keep this thing on the rails okay the ACC is in a lot of turmoil that turmoil that’s very obvious Florida State may be the most recognizable brand in that conference and they are kicking and screaming to get out okay that’s not a great spot the

Pack 12 ceases to exist coming up very soon everyone else is leaving there so that leaves the Big 12 and the Big 12 is trying bless their heart they are trying they don’t have Tech they don’t have Oklahoma they don’t have Texas A&M they don’t have LSU or Alabama or Florida or

Georgia they don’t have Michigan or Ohio State or Penn State they don’t have really anything it’s a recognizable football brand at this point Sorry to Baylor and Oklahoma State but that’s just the reality they are positioning themselves as a very very strong perhaps the strongest basketball league you’ve added Kansas Arizona’s on

The way Arizona State too has been a little bit better you’ve got a good basketball league and they’re trying to grow that they’re going to play a game in Mexico City next year where Kansas and Houston the two strongest programs in that conference right now are going to go to

Mexico City and play a game and they feel like there’s some value in that hunt Palmer as I sit here today I don’t see a lot of value in that when it comes to network television dollars compared to to what the the football branding is in the

Other two big dog leagues you can try the Big East has tried I don’t see that as a viable competition method now they’ve gotten creative they streamed their football conference Championship game in Time Square and they had Nelly performing at halftime and Ross points all of this out they’ve partnered with

The NFL and WWE to put together a prod day situation try to elevate the brand of the the conference I I I will I will give them credit for trying but the point is you can try as much as you want when you don’t have the proper cards or

Make a poker analogy it doesn’t matter how hard you try the money ends up going elsewhere because the SEC does have all the face cards and the Big 10 does have all the face cards so the Big 12 is kind of trying to position itself and I don’t think is

Making a ton of progress they’re in a better spot than the ACC whose members hate them and they’re locked into a bad right deal they’re certainly in a bigger spot better spot than the Pack 12 which is gone but they’re a distant third or fourth when it comes to the rest of this

Situation so we move to college football’s Revenue situation and right now when it comes to the college football playoff the power five leagues soon to be power four but that group is splitting about 80% of the total revenue that’s 460 million that number of 80% is 368

Million the group of five is splitting the other 20% Which comes out to 92 million the question becomes at what point because it’s coming I believe do Greg sanki and the brass in the Big 10 say you know um there’s $92 million out there annually and we kind of like that not

Really all that interested in Kent State akan Louisiana Lafayette Troy and rice getting a piece of that pie because they don’t play in it they don’t ever win a game in it we’re controlling this whole thing we want the money so either we figure out a way through the NCAA to

Make that happen or we’re out of here because that’s $92 million getting distributed to those in the mac and the Sun Belt and sorry we just don’t have a lot of time for that we’ve we’ve got to pay our players we’ve got to pay our coaches we’ve got to build

Facilities we need the money so you’re out like could they do that they’re not going to hire me as a legal counsel to negotiate the exit but I’m feeling like they’ve probably got a leg to stand on because they’re the most the two most important people

Here and if the group of five wants to keep that Revenue stream at any capacity they’re going to need either prove their worth which I don’t think they can do or fight it legally and I just I look at it and I say I don’t know that they’re going to

Survive that and then you move it over to the basketball side of thing and one idea to continue to keep the group of five schools and the Independent Schools and even the lower level FCS schools to continue keeping money with the NCAA tournament would be to increase

The amount of teams that were playing in it increase the amount of games on television and tell CBS and Turner and TNT and all them you got to pay us more or the two big dogs at the table again look at them and go we don’t

Really need the NCA to run a basketball tournament either we’ll run our football tournament over here and we’ll run our basketball tournament too because we don’t really need to watch North Dakota State play basketball and we don’t really care about Kennesaw State and that Florida Golf Coast story was pretty

Cool um but we don’t really need them so we’re going to go run our own basketball tournament too again as I I laid out right at the top like I I don’t have the answer and I don’t have like a bold prediction here I’m just telling you what Ross is

Reporting at what makes a lot of sense and when money is always going to be king and now there’s got to be even more of it to make sure the players are compensated so you can keep them to play football it becomes less palatable to start sharing things with aurine with

Akan and and St Mary’s and Utah State it’s just sorry he who has the gold makes the rules and again you know me by now know me well enough to say like I look at things first and foremost how does this affect LSU and the fact of the matter is that

No matter who’s running the college football playoff LSU is going to have a great chance to make it in there and quite frankly if you cut out a bunch of the mid Majors or add spots into the NCAA basketball tournament that probably helps LSU’s odds of getting in even

Though on a fundamental stance I would rather keep it at 64 and not 66 and not 68 and not 96 but LSU far more likely is going to be between 35 and 96 than it is 1 to 35 that’s just the history of the program

So you put more spots or you cut out the Avenue for some of the the folks to get there probably helps LSU but it’s a little bit more big picture than that it’s it’s confusing it’s complicated there’s billions of dollars literally at stake and there are some people that are

Going to have to make some really really difficult decisions how quickly does that happen I don’t know you told me it was two years from now I’d probably believe you if you told me it was 10 years from now I’d probably believe you you told me it was 20 I

Would say no it’ll be way before that a lot of people are going to have to go to courtrooms and wrestle over things for a while but again LS she will be sitting back here going all right whatever the SEC decides to do just tell

Us where to show up and play we’ll be there got a check for us awesome it’s kind of the way that it goes so moving right along here Marty girl audition of the hunt Palmer show here on this Fat Tuesday lots and lots and lots to get to

Interviews and be leaked reports and different mock drafts and all kinds of stuffs trades um and and so the discussion will will change over time but basically as far as the first round pick goes you kind of know where the Saints are going to be positioned and

What they could be looking for and I’ve made it evident over the last three weeks really as these mock drafts have started to trickle out how I felt about one specific player that’s been mocked to the Saints a number of different times and I read another one today CBS

Ryan Wilson did a mock draft and he has the Saints selecting Georgia tight end Brock Bowers now um I’ll kind of read you the blurb here it says the Sates could go wide receiver here too but Brock Bowers feels like stealing at number 14 I’ll repeat what I wrote back on December 4th

In one of my previous mock drafts in the last 20 years 19 tight ends have gone in the first round five of those in the top 10 mentions Eric Ebron TJ hackinson Kellen winow Vernon Davis Kyle pittz the other 14 tight ends were drafted between number 19 and 32 I mention this because

Brock Bowers is special in fact he’s number five player on my big board maybe he’s different maybe he’ll be a tight end worth taking in the top 10 for now though I’m going the middle of the first round to New Orleans right here at 14 I have said multiple times on the

Show that I believe tight end to be a luxury pick for the Saints I believe there are far more pressing needs on both lines of scrimmage than tight end which I guess technically could be on the line of scrimmage but you get what I’m saying they’ve got significant questions at

Both tackles whether you want Andrew Pete to be your starting left tackle moving forward and you got to get a deal done with him whether you think Trevor Penning can do it if Ryan Ram’s gonna play again like all that’s an issue and you didn’t rush the passer worth a flip

Last year and that’s an issue so in my opinion those are still the most pressing needs so while I’m not totally backing off of that opinion I told myself this morning as I was getting ready for the show I said this is happening far too often I’ve got to try

To look at this another way what is the the real positive in the Saints selecting a tight end or in in this case also said he could go go wide receiver here at number 14 and I had to think about that we do this inag test here at guarantee which

Is a personality test and everybody gets a number one through nine uh my personality is nine it’s one non-confrontational and two one of the traits that I have is I’m I generally will look at both sides I think that’s probably a negative when you talk about talk radio because it’s probably plays

Better to get up there and yell and scream about one specific side and say why you’re right and everybody else is wrong and you’re you’re right and they’re an idiot um I don’t think that way and I don’t really do a radio show that way either um so maybe it sounds

Whiffle waffly at times but it’s I’m I’m I have this capability I’m I’m gonna go ahead and do it so here’s I guess the other side of that if you trust Dennis Allen to put a top 12 defense in the NFL on the field whether he’s got the next

Great Edge rusher or not and you think that Cam Jordan and Carl Granderson who’s growing into being a really good pass rusher and breaze gives you a little bit more you’ve got a little bit of juice there and although your secondary is aging a little bit on the back still good on the

Corners like you’re going to be a functional top 12 defense in the NFL good most weeks and great some weeks and then you look to the offense and you just want to get more explosive and you believe you can create one of the toughest matchups in the NFL with what

We consider the top tight end in this draft maybe a top five player in this draft at a position that we’ve seen can take over games in the NFL if you want to look at the gronowski era the Kelsey era like okay I can start to see where

That makes sense you’ve got Chris alive and rased Shahid you like you’re trying to grow at Perry into that third option because we think Michael Thomas is moving on Jawan Johnson 27 years old not wildly productive this year when you look at back at Joan Johnson’s

Year per game it was decent cuz he only played 13 games if you add four more games to this maybe it looks a little bit better but look you’re talking about a guy that had 368 yards worth of balls and four touchdowns he’s serviceable Foster Morrow is serviceable they’re not what I would

Call Dynamic and if you think that you can create some of what the Raiders had with Waller and Carr and you think that you’re bringing in an offensive coordinator in Clint kubak who just left a place where George KD was a matchup nightmare at times and you think

That you could become a top 10 offense in the league based on that matchup putting you over the top like I can start to understand the thought process again you haven’t knocked me off my Axis here I think they should draft a tackle I think the offensive line play this year was

Terrible maybe that was some injuries maybe that was Doug Marone doing a poor job coaching I I can’t pinpoint it exactly other than to say that I thought it was bad and I thought that Derek Carr got bludgeoned early in the season so I still feel like offensive

Line is is is a bigger kn but I can start to follow along with the thought process a little bit there if I try now I am going to draw the line at wide receiver where he said they could go wide receiver here I think if you

Were to draft I mean we’ll just go local here I think if you were to draft Brian Thomas you have not addressed far greater needs in your organization in my opinion I just don’t think a third or fourth receiving option is is quality that you need I I would

Suggest if you’re drafting drafting Brock Bowers here you’re getting the number one or two receiving option that’s you youve got to think that he is so high up the totem pole and create creates such a massive difference in your offense that that’s where you’ve

Got to go and I just can’t imagine on a team that’s got a la and has got shed that you draft Brian Thomas and think that that’s some sort of franchise altering selection and let’s be real like what the Saints do in the next draft or two is just

Massive because of the situation they paint themselves into with the salary cap every single year young controllable players is the most important thing right now and having one of those be your number three wide receiver or four depending on what you think of at Perry

I I can’t go there but I can start trying to get on board with Brock Bowers if you tell me to if you think that’s just he’s just that good that you’ve got all the other pieces and now with Dennis Allen controlling the defense and an

Offense that’s had a a makeover in terms of Personality with a new offensive coordinator and now a new toy a new weapon that very few teams in the league have maybe maybe I said when I teased the segment I said I’m waffling a little bit

I’m I’m I’m trying to get myself into a positive frame of mind with it I’ve gotten until April to figure out where I really stand I think we know that but I’ll try how’s that if you want to check out that mock draft uh you can do

It it’s uh it’s on CBS Sports um incidentally for those that are checking us out locally here in in Baton Rouge um Jaden Daniels is mock number two in this mock draft to the Washington commanders um said no player did more for their draft stock in the fall than Jaden

Daniels who went from a possible day three pick to a first round Prospect reminds me a lot of Lamar Jackson so it’d be great for Jaden Daniels to go number two there to to Washington Malik neighbors very consistently now being mocked at number six to New York uh to

The Giants that’s where he is here uh and Brian Thomas does come up a little bit later in the first round Beyond where the Saints pick they’ve got uh Brian Thomas going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at number 26 in this draft incidentally those of you who are

Interested in Bengals picks and things of that nature JC l offensive tackle from Baton uh from Baton Rouge from Alabama uh mocked to the Bengals there and that’d be just fine with me keep burrow upright please really ruined my football season when he went out this

Year so we’ll see lots more mocks to get to over the course of the next three months all right LSU in Florida tonight from the oome down there in Gainesville Zack Al covers the Florida Gator for Gators online he will join us next the hunt Palmer show buos electric get my

Coach takes over a program you always look for that moment where it feels like things may have turned a corner does it feel like that in Gainesville over the last three weeks for coach Golden company it does I obviously you get you know two top 15 wins and especially the win at

Kentucky that was Florida’s first top 10 Road win uh since 2003 that’s a pretty long drought so to be able to go and and win at rup you know that’s kind of like a sacred place for for Florida fans so that’s kind of a good way to get them

Behind you and then you know to come back to the oome and and get a win over Bruce per who is his former boss at AUB and and and to do it in the the fashion that they did it it’s it’s definitely you know a good way to kind of like you

Said turn the corner and I think get Florida fans really buying into the program they’ve had five straight consecutive sellouts they probably won’t have one tonight because it’s a you know midweek game but uh they’re they’re hungry for Florida to get good in basketball again one five of six and you

Mentioned that game against Auburn I don’t know what was most impressive the 13 nothing start they got out to Leading by thir 29 early in the second half and they ended up winning the game by 16 points 81 to 65 what most impressed you with that performance on Saturday

You know just one the fact you know how they started the game obviously you know uh both in the first half and the second half they really kind of just set the tone and and let it be known that they were not going to really let up you know

They had had performances in SEC play where they had built Big leads and had stretches in games where they were playing really really well and then they would squander the lead or they would just have scoring droughts or defensive lapses and you know that even happened a

Little bit in the game on Saturday they didn’t score in the final nine minutes but it didn’t matter because they had built a 26-point lead and they just really dominated on the defensive end that was probably their best defensive performance of the season and that was probably the biggest uh you know

Positive sign was how well they played on defense you know they had had other you know bright spots throughout the season and and things that they had shown Improvement on but defensively that was something that they were still trying to hone in on and that was you

Know Auburn came into the game as the number two defense in the country and Florida was the team that put on the defensive Clinic yeah the defensive metrics are not uh are not awesome certainly not as good as the offensive metrics are but you start to look at it

A lot of it was early in SEC play with 87 to Kentucky 103 to all Miss in the last three weeks it looks like things have been better on the defensive side is that the case yeah and I you know I just think as a team they they are starting to settle

In you know they they they have figured out their rotation they figured out their starting lineup um you know I think Micah hand Lockton especially you know he coming over from Marshall where he was a freshman last season just to be quite Frank it’s it’s taken him time to

Adjust to the physicality of the SEC especially on the defensive end and just the presence that he needs to have in the paint and he’s really stepped it up as of late the game on Saturday was probably his best defensive effort of the season and he said when we talked to

Him yesterday that that’s that’s that’s kind of the new standard for for how he played he had five blocks in that game nine rebounds he he was just all over the place um so I I think he’s been a really Catalyst for how they’ve kind of improved on that end and and then

They’re guarding the three-point line a lot better too yeah Auburn three of 17 from the three-point line back on Saturday Walter Clayton and Zion Poland have led this team in scoring an SEC play tell me about that back court yeah I mean game changers right I

Mean two two transfers that have come in and been impact guys um you know you heard Bruce Pearl say after the game on Saturday that he doesn’t know if there’s a better uh point guard in the league than Zion Pand and then he said he didn’t know if there’s a better scorer

At the two spot than Walter Clayton uh and he thinks that you know when those two guys are going Florida’s going to win a lot of those matchups and I mean that’s obviously something that they been lacking and that was an area that that golden wanted to address in the

Portal and you know between getting those two guys and we talked about Micah hand logon but also uh Tyrese Samuel as well their other big I mean this transfer class which was one of the best transfer classes in the country on paper uh has really shown up and and I think

Poland and Clayton are leading that charge I mean Pand is just I mean he the way he runs that offense and the master that he is on the floor I mean Florida hasn’t had a point guard that that good in some years and uh they haven’t had a

Weapon either at the two spot like Clayton in a while so th those guys are are are really kind of coming on at an important time too what gives this team trouble when they get into some trouble well I mentioned obviously the fact that they’ve shown the the you know

Just the the uh the inability to sometimes play with the lead have that killer instinct so to speak like once they get up just continue to to you know put their their foot on a throat on an opponent’s throat and and just close him out and that’s

That’s what they did against Auburn but that was at home um I think now that they’ve seemingly turned a corner you know they’ve won four their last five games um can they can they play with that consistency can they now that they’ve had some success uh you know not

Rest on their L Laurels so to speak I mean they’re in a good spot to make the tournament but they still got to keep winning games and the LSU is absolutely a team that can come into the oome and and beat Florida if they they have another defensive let down if they have

Another stretch like they had just in the Auburn game where they went the final nine minutes of the game 940 of the game without a field goal I mean you cannot do that most games in the SEC you’re not going to get a 26-point lead and be able to withstand something like

That so you know they they have those lapses on both ends of the floor where where they just they they really dro the ball um and that has cost them games that’s cost them leads and that’s something that they got to get away from as we get closer to March Matt McMahon

Has said multiple times that he feels like his team is is at their best offensively when they’re they’re playing with a lot of tempo going up and down the floor it’s kind of puzzled me they tried to get into track meets with Alabama and they ended up giving 100 109

Points in both of those games they scored a lot of points but they’re given up a lot of points I look at Florida and I see a team that’s seventh in the country in points per game and third in the country in field goal attempts per

Game they want to get up and down and go yes they do they do that that is their Pace I mean they can run their half court offense because like I said Pand is really talented um and they can get into some of those sets but they

Like to push the pace they got bigs that can run the floor they got Shooters uh that they can set out at the corner so um that’s that’s really when that that’s Florida’s game right there um so I’m sure that that’s something that LSU wants to prevent you know uh Auburn

Tried to do some things defensively to slow Forida down they tried to trap some of their guards in the second half um but you they they weren’t effective at doing it but FL Florida has had times where they’ve had some teams be able to run some different things at them switch

Up their defenses and kind of throw them off of their game and I imagine you’re going to see LSU try to do some of that tonight we’ll see it’s LSU in Florida tonight 7 o’cl from down there in in the oome uh quick football question before

We get out of here just kind of the the temperature around things as we’ve gotten into an off season after year two of of bilon a year yeah well H if you would have asked me last week I would have said uh you know things you know are seemingly on

The up and up because they had finalized their class and kind of finalized their staff hires and we knew where uh things stood from a play calling standpoint on both sides of the ball but obviously in in the last week you know Florida lost its strength coach um which

Has kind of put a a damper on things is just you know for the time being uh you know you’re a month into your offseason workouts you’ve totally revamped your strength and conditioning program and then you lose your head strength coach a month into it it’s not ideal Florida has

Other strength coaches on staff that’ll lead the team through this period but um that that’s something that they’re going to have to get figured out it’ be curious to see if they can make another hire in that space um you know there’s a big story that came out today from the

Orlando Sentinel about Florida’s nil efforts and and what they’re trying to do to get that rectified um so obviously Florida is still a team that needs to get better a football program that needs to get better um the you know the the bright spots for them are they they

Still do have a lot of young pieces uh from this past class that just came in and all the Freshman that played last season those are going to be kind of their building blocks with their kind of key returners like you know the gr meres and um so we’ll see I think Florida’s

Got to they’ve got to be able to get some wins early on in the season to get some momentum going um and to get some confidence as a team what do people think when they see the five and a half win totals floating out that we’ve seen

Kind of early on here uh I mean I honestly I don’t think that surprises anybody given their schedule given you know uh how Florida has done obviously the past two years and and some of the changes that they had Personnel wise um you know even though they returned their

Quarterback and they they return a lot of young players I think they returned the fourth most in the SEC in terms of um returning production they you know they still did lose some some key pieces you know especially on the defensive side of the ball now that that unit

Wasn’t great but there’s just a lot of newness there um so between that and obviously the schedule that Florida Drew and a lot of question marks um you know I get it you know Vegas uh that they had Florida at five and a half going into last season and they were right and

That’s what they got him at right now so you know Florida is GNA have to to prove some naysayers wrong for sure enjoy some basketball tonight Zach we appreciate the time for sure man appreciate you guys for having me Zach ala Verity covers Florida for Gator online

This season it’s opening day at the box with 1045 ESPN Baton Rouge you’re listening to the hunt Palmer show on 1045 ESPN Baton Rouge every time you read that I just have to Sprint over to the weather and see what things are looking like okay yeah what’s what’s the

Rain so today the projection for Friday high of 71 which is phenomenal even higher than it was yesterday um the chance of rain is 50% down from yesterday Weather Bug yesterday was and it says at night 70% and that furthers Jay’s thinking on this whole thing

Because those who don’t know um VMI and central Arkansas are playing Friday night after LSU’s done and Jay would just rather play make sure he gets his game in at two and if the folks at night get rained and they stay up till 1: in the morning like sorry that you wanted

To come play at the box that those are the breaks it’s just it’s not ideal I get it um that people would rather LSU play the evening games they get off or and go out there it’s the way it has generally always been but there are some

Reasons for this decision and it’s like I was saying earlier like if you tell the LSU fans Christmas that the game in February is at 2 o’clock they’ll figure that out last year when you told them that 20 hours before the game that sucks

That’s just not a good deal for a lot of people so I think that was the the the reasoning behind this and so uh you hopefully we’ve got hope we got good weather coming up uh on Friday we’ve got great weather today if you’re out on a parade route appreciate you locking Us

In today uh as we’ve been live and local all day long Jimmy and Charlie decided to duck out but Max held down the fort and uh Matt’s going to be on a little bit later today we got another hour and change to go here it’s not often on this

Show that we discuss a topic and then nothing else happens and we imediately come back and discuss it the next day but I felt the need to do that with this Kyle Shanahan overtime decision because he had another press conference and doubled down saying he wanted the ball third and I once

Again understand if you don’t think you can stop momes and you think you can win it with that third possession without him getting the ball in sudden death I understand but you’re not thinking of it right to me this is not one of those I can see both sides like I just

Think that’s wrong because you may not get the ball back if you take the ball and score a touchdown and kick the extra point and Kansas City gets the ball and goes down and scores a touchdown and go for two and goes for two you lose and

You don’t even get the ball back and I think Andy Reed said he would probably go for two if that was the case this this thought process that he is laying out he being Kyle Shanahan is based on one you scoring a touchdown in the first

Drive two the other team not getting the ball and and going down and going for two like there’s way too many ifs in Kyle Shanahan thinking here the I think from the till the end of time including if San Francisco has this chance again they will go on defense because you have all

The leverage if you go on defense first the only way that I can go back and retroactively say oh yeah that was actually an okay decision if you thought your defense was so gassed they had no chance on the first drive and I still don’t even think I would do it that way

Because now maybe you get a holding call you get a turnover and then all sudden you’re in the Big Time driver’s seat because you know exactly what you need I this this decision from Kyle Shanahan was completely wrong and I’ve said many many many times I don’t care what you

Say in press conferences um I just care what you do on the field but in this case like this rationale this determination that you’ve now doubled and tripled down on one by doing it then by saying in the post game this is what you were trying to do and then coming

Back days later and saying that’s what you wanted to do I just think is absolutely incorrect Kyle Shanahan I think is a brilliant coach I would take him as my head coach tomorrow if I was a college team or an NFL team I think he’s that gifted on the offensive side of

Things and that organization they’ve got running in San Francisco is fantastic in this instance he was wrong and I know there are people that are going to pin the Falcons game on him and they’re going to pin this game on him with a 10-point lead and they’re going to pin

The other Super Bowl like I get that this has happened multiple times I’d still take it my coach cuz I think they a really really well coached team from an X’s and O’s perspective there’s another piece to this puzzle which is the decision-making and putting your team up for success and preparation for

Not so normal situations everybody’s ready to go on Third and seven we all got what we’re doing there that when the in the the situation presents itself and it’s not a normal situation your team’s got to be ready to roll I still don’t think it’s a big deal that use Che

Didn’t know the rules his job is just to go run the play but Shanahan’s got to to reconsider this deal because you have placed three huge ifs and you could just take them all away and let the other team go first and then you’ve got all

The cards you can go for two and dictate things the only the only team that can’t dictate anything is the team that goes first team that goes second can dictate things by going for two team that goes third if they get the ball can have the

Opportunity to to finish it but if you go first you just it’s no good got to reconsider that Kyle all right that’s it for hour number one missed any of it catch it on demand 45 espn.com so demand tab Apple podcast Spotify Google YouTube wherever you find

Friday at 2:00 so we’ll check in with Lyn kind of get his thoughts on the the 2023 National Champion tigers and the version that Jay Johnson will try it out there coming up on Friday so we’ll get with Glenn here in 15 minutes plus I got

To get you ready for LSU in Florida from kind of my perspective with this one uh tonight in Gainesville but I found this very interesting on the athletic um a lot of times when you get a uh a a bunch of coaches or players surveyed

To kind of get some answers it’s it’s an anonymous thing so you can maybe people can be a little more honest than they’d like to be um with their name attached to it this case the athletic just pulled some current college baseball head coaches and they kept all their answers

And names uh public they published all of them so they talked to some you’ll know and some you won’t but Craig Gibson At Mercer uh chip hail at Arizona link Jarrett who was the Notre Dame head coach who now at Florida State Jay Johnson you may have heard of him Chris

Lonus Mississippi State Steve Owens at Rutgers from the Big 10 Kirk sarus is the TCU head coach he took over from Jim sashel Jim schle in was Texas A&M is a part of this survey as well Andy stanitz at USC Tom Walter the head coach over at Wake Forest and Robert Woodard at

Charlotte so you got some mid Majors you got some SEC you got some West Coast um I think you got one Midwest in there don’t you maybe not don’t have a Midwest that’s all right uh that’s who they pulled and they just asked him some pretty simple questions um about current

College baseball and all time and I thought some of the answers were very revealing the first question was who’s your pick for best position player in the country in 2024 not on your team and as you might imagine Tom Walter has a pretty vivid memory of one of the top

Players in the country and he says well when you talk about just rawal hitters I think it certainly starts with Tommy White as LSU he’s as good a college hitter as ever seen power to all Fields f for the barrel he competes so for me

He’s the best after Nick Curts who is on his team so Tom Walter you know Tommy White ended his season last year the best season he’s ever been a part of I’m not surprised that you got that answer uh from Tom Walter interestingly enough though I go down to Jim slos nigles

Answer for best position player in the country entering this season and he says Tommy White and Jack KAG leó he says he likes Kobe Shelton who’s going to be at Florida who was a really good freshman for Alabama last year but he takes Tommy White as the first name that rolls off

Of his tongue there so two guys that saw him last year would suggest Tommy White best position player in the country now JJ weather hold at West Virginia is Sensational obviously KAG Leon is is a stud I would suggest seon Petri over at South Carolina is is phenomenal as well

There a lot of really really good players I mean look Jay Lavalette at Texas A&M is one of my favorite players was a former LSU commitment ended up at Texas A&M but Tommy White getting a lot of respect and it it does make me feel a little bit better when you lose Dylan

Cruz who in my opinion is the greatest player who’s ever played at LSU um and you still in the year that you lose him have what many consider to be the best player in the country makes me feel a little better I’d like to have Cruz back

But Tommy White will will make me feel a little bit better all right so the next question that they asked is who’s the best pitcher in 2024 and some of these answers are not surprising at all Josh hardle from Lake Forest who beat LSU in the College World Series got a few

You’ve seen some jack kagon answers in here Carter Holton from Vanderbilt is one that Jim schlagle mentions Chris lonis and Jay Johnson both said Hagen Smith for this one but I was very interested in one answer and that was Tom Walter’s answer he’s at wake last year in the Super Regional wake played

Alabama and Luke hullman started the first game of that super and for the best pitcher in the country in 2024 Tom Walter I really like LSU’s number one the kid who transferred from Alabama Luke hulleman he can really pitch his stuff is really starting to

Come on I can see him having a really really big year this year you’ve probably heard me talk about Luke hulleman I think he is a quality SEC starting pitcher I do not consider him at this point to be an ace of an elite level team but Tom Walter knows a lot

About more about college baseball than me and certainly scouted uh Luke hulleman a lot closer than me and watched him pitch in the biggest game of Luke hullman’s life and had has that to say that he might be the best pitcher in the country I hope I am so wrong on this

And he is just a superstar and we’ll see where he slots in this weekend and what he looks like but that to me was a a surprising answer to hear Tom Walter suggests that he thinks Luke hullman could be the best pitcher in the country now maybe he doesn’t know all the

Pitchers in the country it wouldn’t it would surprise me if Tom Walter knew all the Pack 12 Aces I don’t think he can tell you much about the Texas staff like so again you know I you probably have some Scouts that have a different answer but less important that Luke Heman is

The best pitcher in the country and more important in my opinion is that Tom Walter said yeah that dude’s really good I’ll take that for sure um next question that I thought was interesting was uh who is the best position player you’ve ever seen in college baseball and there

Are some great names in here Tom Walter says moon at Sean Hall was the best he also said Todd Walker uh was the best but he didn’t have a great great long time to look at him so Todd Walker getting some love that many years later

Buster POS he got mentioned a couple of times here um Jay Johnson said can I say Dylan Cruz if not on my team but he wasn’t a D1 player then it’s Bryce car Harper at Southern Nevada that would be my other choice but I thought um impressive here that Jim Schlagel who

Was at TCU at the time when he would have seen this player said Alex bregman is the best college player that he had ever seen bregman was Sensational and that play that you’ll all a lot of yall remember from the College World Series where bregman ranges up the middle and

Makes that spinning play in center field and fires it to first base that was against TCU bregman had a couple of hits in that game as well um but I just uh I was uh I mean Jim slle has been around a long time and has played in Monster

Games at TCU and Texas A&M and for him to say that that Alex bregman is the best I thought was really was really cool um then it comes to best pitcher you have ever seen and I’m just going to read some of these quotes from some of

These guys that have been around College baseball a very very long time best pitcher you’ve ever seen Tom Walter I’d have to say Paul skes what he did last year was pretty incredible and to do it as consistently as he did week in and week out the way he pitched in Omaha it

Was pretty special so that’s Tom Walter saying he thinks Paul Ski’s best he’s ever seen listen to Jim slos Nagel’s answer this is great skin by far not close I coached against Steven strawber Mark Pryor all of them it’s not close that is an incredible answer

That’s not from an LSU fan who sat in section 221 this is Jim snagle he’s been to Omaha a handful of times one in the Big 12 in the SEC A&M he’s been at tlane when they were really really good not close not close to shraberg not close to

That’s I thought that was an incredible answer Chris lemonis’s answer I know this was recent but it’s Paul schemes it was just everything just the presence the average fastball like a 100 through the whole game it was three pitches for strikes just a complete package so

That’s three guys who are in the camp for Paul sches Jay Johnson says Paul schin but Steven rosberg would have been my choice outside of my own team um it’s difficult for me to settle emotionally with knowing that you may have already seen the best and you won’t

See anything better than that and look we all said that Joe burrow was the best we’d ever seen and it would never be better than that and we got another Heisman winner just a couple of years later and I don’t think anyone’s here to suggest that Jaden Daniels is

Significantly better than Joe Burr that it got better whatever but it it got about as good just a few years later so you don’t want to be you don’t want to speak in too much hyperbole um but man as we get set to embark on another baseball season that I’m so excited

For to know that skines and crews are thought of in that light by so many people and that that’s in the rearview mirror is just it’s tough to to go man how I’m going to watch LSU play for how many more years and that’s the best I’ll ever see and you never

Know some people thought maybe that they’d ever seen anything like Ben McDonald again and Aaron no was pretty damn good Paul sk’s pretty damn good so maybe we’re all just romanticizing a little bit too much about such a special team that did so many special things and

You know have having the top two picks in the MLB draft but but that’s not when Jay says it you know that’s that’s his those are his guys he watched them develop and pitch and and play every single day we did the same thing in terms of watching

Them um but to see folks that competed against him for a weekend or for a day to have that kind of impression left on them after you know some of these guys have been at this for 30 years 40 years it’s like that was really

Special um I know we’re all glad we got to witness it I know we had so much fun watching it and I’m not going to be thinking too much about skines and Cruz you know that third SEC weekend when it’s when it’s 4 to2 in the in the top of the seventh

You’re just trying to win a game but to sit here before we get involved in all that and to kind of look back and go man that was that was really something and it’s not just us saying that it’s everybody that’s involved in college baseball what a fun fun ride that was

With two of the best I ever do it and we were fortunate enough to have them right there on the same team cool stuff cool piece there that the the athletic put together you can find it over on the athletic with all the all the answers to

All those questions but I kind of cooked it down to the ones that were relevant here in in Baton Rouge and we’re lucky that we have a lot of folks uh that think a lot of what that team did last season speaking of folks that were around last season and have probably a

Lot to say about what they saw last season Lyn Rollins going to be on the call Friday Saturday Sunday Monday coming up for LSU baseball he joins us coming up next the the hunt Palmer show our listeners fire off their opinions on the gyms firearms. net hotline at

Shall see what the weatherman brings this weekend but let’s think good thoughts and uh I can’t wait to see what this 2024 version of uh Tiger baseball is all about yeah I can’t wait to talk about it but I do want to go back in the last segment I was just reading through

An article posted on the athletic where they they uh gave some questions to some some big names in college baseball Jay Johnson Tom Walter Jim schle a bunch of coaches around and they were talking asking questions who’s the best position player you’ve ever seen who’s the best

Pitcher that you’ve ever seen and it was almost unanimous those who had played against schin last year said it Jim lnle said I saw Steven strawber I saw Mark Pryor it’s not even close it is Paul skes when you think about what you watched from Paul SK last year what will

Your lasting memory be well the the you know the the numbers speak for themselves and their eye popping I mean you you if you looked at them without any prior knowledge of schemes you would say this has to be a misprint and and you know the the the

Two strikeouts virtually per inning over the course of the season but hunt the thing that impressed me most you know not not the consecutive 100 m hour fast balls not all the strikeouts not the uh the wins and the losses but the thing that impressed me most was his Poise and

His control which was phenomenal and when you can throw that many pitches that hard with that much movement and that much stuff in a variety of counts and not walk batters uh he’s the best I’ve ever seen and there’s no question about it and uh you know he’s Irreplaceable so let’s don’t think

There’s a next Paul skines out there uh because there is not uh not only in Baton Rouge but anywhere in the country but uh to answer your question it’s Paul sches what’s it like standing next to Ben McDonald and watching the guy who’s basically the the the second coming of

Ben McDonald in an LSU uniform well I mean I I you know Ben McDonald for his time was was as good as anybody and the game has changed so much um you know there been several pitchers for LSU that that I think are in that rarified air but uh you know steens is

Is is the best I’ve seen uh Nola you know maybe the second best uh when you consider his whole career um and and and you know Ben Ben was a was a Trailblazer and you know not only threw hard but had the the the the Wipeout breaking pitch

Which really was the pitch that made the difference for him so uh yeah it’s fun to to think back and compare and you know different eras as well no question about that and the other piece of this whole pie is is Dylan Cruz and his his three-year Legacy in Baton rou schemes

Was seemed like he was here one day and gone the next for just an incredible oneye but that Cruz a three-year career where will you remember him uh very well could be the best um you know when when you I mean he hit well over 400 last year it was not a

Fluke had the power had the RBI uh had the arm in center field you know and and you’ve talked about it so accurately over the years there are very few very few true five tool players well he might have been a six- tool player you know

This uh so I would uh you know it’s really hard to say he was the best ever at LSU but but he could have been uh I wouldn’t argue with it if you wanted to make that argument I I I couldn’t I I couldn’t refute that successfully no I and I would suggest

That he is I I haven’t seen him all I I didn’t see very much of Todd Walker and I I I I didn’t see a ton of Eddie furnus although I did see a little bit at the end but you just you talk about three

Years and the tools that he had in the production and then to to get the national championship which is something that almost feels like you have to do it LSU to get into discussion which is probably not fair but he got it done right there at the end I I I would put

Him up there against anybody for a three-year run here in Baton Rouge so now the question becomes how does LSU retool this thing and move forward uh who’s the most difficult player to try to quote unquote replace for this LSU team well it will be Cru for sure

Because of all the things he could do steel bases uh Play Flawless defense hit with power hit for average uh was the emotional leader of the team so so it definitely will be Cruz um you know and there are some options we’ll see if Paxton cling moves from right field to

Center field he’s the most Cruise like if you will uh physically and and with some of the tools of Cruz but a long way to go uh before he reaches that Stratosphere um and you know this this is a team that’s going to be uh looking

For power I mean when you look at last year’s lineup 85 home runs uh are no longer available you had Cruz with 18 you had boso with 16 and boy was he an underrated player last year offensively Morgan had nine and of course his his incomparable defense at first base Joe

Bear had 14 Dugas with 17 Thompson with 11 I mean that’s that’s a lot of production up and down the lineup uh and other than Tommy White of course um you know where is the next double- digit home run producer is it trinsky uh he

Did it last year uh in a reserve role uh you know he could maybe up that a little bit but you know who protects Tommy White in the lineup I mean that’s a big question Tommy White was just a few hits away from a 400 average himself with

Tremendous power and and you recall he missed a handful of games with injuries and was limited in some others still led the country in RBI uh I mean he’s not going anywhere he’s going to duplicate those numbers if somebody can protect him in the lineup and that was my next

Question it’s like you’re reading off the notebook here but what do we think an entire season of Hayden trinsky looks like because we didn’t really see that last year we got just about half no you’re right he he played what 25 26 games um I’m not sure that his role is

Going to be much different than it was last year I think he’ll catch some I think he’ll DH some I don’t know if he’ll be in the lineup every every week uh or every game behind the plate I mean you’ve got Alex milazo uh who who certainly is is no trinsky offensively

But uh but but better defensively Brady Neil of course was injured last year but he’s had a good fall and and run up to the start of the Season he’s an option certainly at uh at at catcher remember he was a starting freshman catcher until he was injured last year so they’re

They’re pretty deep but um I I think trinsky will rotate behind the plate and also be DH and and even can hold down first base if necessary although I don’t see that as a as as an option that will come early unless you starting pitching um I you obviously lose skin and taid

Who are both first round selections the talent is is unquestioned it’s just a matter of what it looks like when those guys are thrust into those roles fulltime and the one that is coming back from LSU is thater herd who was obviously brilliant in the National

Final your thoughts on his ability to to hold down a weekend rotation spot this year well I I think your point is extremely well made um thater was was without question uh you know a piece of the championship uh machinery and LSU would not have won the national championship last year without his

Performance in postseason but but he was ER Ric during the regular season I mean there were calls for his demotion you know during the year you you’ll recall that so um you know he he certainly came to the Forefront uh and was very reliable in some incredibly pressure-packed situations uh if he can

Even approach that you know he he’ll be fine but but as you say there are so many options this year some unproven but with a lot of talent and and I don’t think there’s a staff in the country that has more left-handed pitchers do

You no& m last year had a lot and their pitching coach was of course Nate yki who’s in Baton Rouge now but as far as as moving into this year no I think LSU’s probably at or very very near the top they got a lot of options on the

Southpaw side you know one of the the key things for me too and and and LSU under Jay Johnson has been really good at this but uh the Tigers when you when you combine walks and hit batters uh and LSU is flinchless uh you know at the

Plate I mean they they they get plunk uh but but they were second in the country in free passes uh when you combine walks and hit by pitch and and that’s the type of of stuff LSU is going to need again uh you know it may take

Three hits this year to produce a run whereas last year won maybe two hits so that that’s going to be a difference there are going to be fewer home runs I mean that’s just a fact uh and and you know hopefully there’ll be some players

Who can emerge with 6 eight maybe 10 but we’re not going to have any 1820 20 24 25 home run guys other than uh than Tommy White how’ you feel I told you that Gavin gidry was The Closer on this team is that uh something you think could

Materialize it could um there are so many unknowns when it comes to relief pitching for LSU and and guys with with unbelievable credentials you know some of the newcomers so I I think it could um I I think he’s certainly in the mix I

I don’t know if there’s a one a one a and a one B I don’t think there is right now um but you know it might be a little more situational as opposed to okay uh LSU’s got the lead in the eighth and Ninth and this guy’s coming in without

Question I I don’t think it’s going to be quite that cut and dried at least early LSU and VMI it’ll be two o’clock first pitch from the box it’ll be Lyn Rollins and Ben McDonald on the television call ly thanks so much for some time we’ll see you at the Box this

Weekend I appre appreciate the opportunity to say hello and uh yeah let’s keep our fingers crossed for good weather and let’s play too we sure will that is Lyn Rollins Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame broadcaster and he’ll be on the call all weekend long certainly I

Know most of you all fired up uh to hear Lynn and Ben on the calls this weekend I certainly am and looking forward to getting into the Press Box and saying Hey to to uh to Lynn he he guided me through my only uh television appearance

Basically ever uh when I helped on the call of a game against Mississippi State last year um great great great great great guy and an awesome broadcaster and we’ll be thrilled to have him on the call for another season starting up on Friday tonight from the oome in

Sunday night at 7 right here on 1045 ESPN Baton Rouge you’re listening to the hunt Palmer show on 1045 ESPN Bon Rouge the over at barol sports could have used Steph Curry and Sabrina I escue last they shot shot free throws for 14 hours trying to make 41 in a row

I could have used well not you you’re a terrible free throw shooter right so you would I would have been right in line with those bloggers that were clanking them um you totally missed this bar stool had a launch yesterday and they were doing this promo promotion where

They streamed their bloggers and they had to make 41 free throws in a row um they got one Mulligan in the 41 so basically they had to make 41 of 42 and they couldn’t stop until they did it and they went literally all night had multiple bar stool employee employees

That were pretty good basketball players Drive in from other states once they realize that the other guys couldn’t do it one guy drove six hours through the night got there at four in the morning started shooting free throws um they have Mark Titus who played at was at

Ohio State they got some other college basketball player they got a high school basketball coach who could come in there and make seven or eight in a row there’s a lot of drama um but they were not very good free throw shooters and that’s why it took them 15 hours but they finally

Did it uh which is pretty pretty good entertainment speaking of entertainment and uh basketball side of things LSU in Florida tonight from the oome exact Tech Arena I believe at the Steven C oconnell Center we’re just going to call it the oome I appreciate Zack Alver for calling

It The oome earlier because that’s just what we’re going to do we’re also I mean I’m struggled with Neville Arena which I just call Auburn Arena I don’t Food Bank Center something in Knoxville that’s going to be the Tommy bow and they’ll be in the oome tonight against this Florida

Team and when we looked at this five game stretch that we’ve talked about over and over and over and over and over and over and over again again saying please try to win one we’ve done this a bunch um I thought uh the two best chances entering this stretch would be

At Florida and home Kentucky now neither one is is is a a sure thing that’s obvious but I felt that way because I didn’t think they were going to go to Tennessee and win I did not think they were going to beat Alabama and Baton Rouge um and South Carolina had just

Been playing so well that I just didn’t feel like that was a great chance on the road either which is coming up on Saturday and that only left Florida on the road and Kentucky at home um unfortunately Florida looks to be playing their best basketball of the

Year um this is a team that is 16- s on the season they are 6-4 in Southeastern Conference play they’ve gone 10 and one at home in the oome thus far and they have won five of their last six games overall they’re playing very very good basketball they crushed Auburn on

Saturday in the oome 81-65 um which was a really impressive 16 Point win that was never even remotely close they got up 13 to nothing and then they took control early in the second half as well and pushed the lead to 29 early in the second half um what

Have I said a lot about individual games in conference Place some days you’re unconscious some teams the play the team you play is unconscious some teams sometimes you can’t throw it in the ocean sometimes the team you’re playing can’t throw it in the ocean this was one

Of those games for Auburn where they could not find it Auburn went three of 17 from the three-point line and when do that especially on the road you get beat and they got beat soundly uh in that game um this Florida team is offensively geared they are

Third in the country in field goal attempts per game they are third in the country in offensive rebounding percentage they’re 12th in the country in free throws attempted per game they’re seventh in the country in points per game they are top 10 in all these offensive metrics in terms of points per

Game it’s a team that wants to play really really fast and they’re good at it they they’re 13th in the country in possessions per game and they’re six 26th in the country in offensive efficiency this is akin to what Auburn wants to do and very much what Alabama

Wants to do and LSU is kind of willingly stepped into track meets with these teams disagree or agree that’s what’s happened um you could say that LSU wasn’t able to slow the game down against Alabama either time or against Auburn or you could say that LSU tried

To keep up either way it didn’t work and Matt McMahon has consistently said that LSU is at its best when they’re playing fast offensively okay um it just is daunting to go play a team that’s top 15 in the country in all these metrics offensively

And try to keep up shot for shot it’s just a daunting task now Florida’s not great on defense if you look look at the entire season statistically they’re 142nd in the country in defensive efficiency here are some points allowed in SEC games by Florida Kentucky scored 87 Kentucky scored 84 in their second

Game ol Miss scored 103 on this team Tennessee scored 85 and you’re going man this team gives up a lot of points and they do if you look at the entire season now if you boil it down a little closer to some of the games they’ve played recently it doesn’t look as appetizing

They held Missouri to 6 7 they held Mississippi State to 70 they held Texas A&M to 67 a game they lost but they held him to 67 they held Auburn to 65 so they’ve they’ve been better defensively now you tell me what looks better here Auburn went up and down with Florida and

Gave up 81 points and lost Kentucky went up and down with Florida at rup and scored 91 points and lost at rup Georgia went up and down with Florida and lost 102 to 98 those are up and down back and forth games the one game in this stretch that

They’ve lost they went to college station and they got beat 6766 A&M was able to slow the game down that’s what A&M wants to do they want to put that dummy three quarter court press on they want to grind you down they want to play good defense and they want to

Win the backboard like that’s what Texas ANM wants to do and that’s what they did in College Station I don’t know if LSU built like that because you just if you look at the teams LSU’s played that are good they’ve scored a ton of points Auburn scored a

Ton of points Tennessee scored a ton of points Bama scored a ton of points both times like yeah unless you held A&M to low shooting totals because A&M is one of the is the worst shooting team in the conference so the concern is the game gets up and down LSU just doesn’t keep

Up because that’s the song and dance we’ve consistently seen is this a backcourt Le team that Florida’s got Walter Clayton is a 63 junor guard 17 points per game shooting almost 40% from three in SEC play Zion Poland’s going to run the point for him he’s scoring 17 a game in SEC

Play I think if LSU wins tonight it’s in the low 70s I think if the game gets into the 90s LSU is going to lose it that’s just the way it feels I don’t have the blue BL print to slowing Florida down into the 70s maybe

It’s just they have one of those nights where they don’t shoot it well maybe LSU creates a bunch of turnovers I I don’t I don’t have the recipe this team has not shown itself to slow down high-scoring offensive teams so for me to concoct some deal where

They play a bunch of Zone which they haven’t done all year or they all of a sudden do a much better job of of closing out on on three-point Shooters they all of a sudden are better at cutting off straight line drives to the rim like sure I could say all those

Basketball cliches but none of it’s applied and knowless she’s played a great team but I think finding a way on defense is a better recipe here than Jordan Wright and Jaylen cook both going for 28 points LSU making 17 threes and winning a game 9894 like I just that’s

Hard to do on the road because LSU like they hung with Alabama for a half in Tuscaloosa and then it got away and they were right in that game with 5 minutes to go against Alabama and Alabama it got away you weren’t really in it against Auburn

Although you chipped all the way back but you you you haven’t shown yourself to play 40 minutes at that pace with the good teams so I hope that things slow down a little bit tonight but um I just I don’t know if that’s going to be the

Case if I’m looking at it objectively well if I’m looking at it the way that I feel it’s objective feeling if if I’m looking at it personally I think LSU’s got a better chance to win against Kentucky in the pmac than they do tonight in the

Odom I I don’t like their chances on Saturday although it’s still it’s still like oh it’s South Carolina you can beat them they they’ve been great they’ve played really really well Lamont peris done an awesome job with that team and and Golden’s done a really good job with

This Florida team over the last three weeks they have theyve stepped their game up exponentially and they look like a tournament team right now LSU is is not in that discussion um we’re just trying to get one of them now you’re down to three opportunities is it

Tonight in Gainesville is it Saturday in Columbia is it coming up next Wednesday against Kentucky in the pmac feels to me like it’s a week from tomorrow but I’ll be locked in tonight and uh I I’m going to pick Florida to win um and I do think

Florida will score a ton of points I’ve got Florida something like 9479 like some kind of 15-point win there the line’s 10 on the game feels about right I just I’m not going to give LSU the benefit of the doubt right now playing against um playing against this

Florida team the way that they’re playing I I firmly put LSU kind of in that middle tier that’s got some teams in it that aren’t Tennessee and Auburn ky’s probably slipped little bit Bama may have stepped up into that and it’s certainly not Vanderbilt or Missouri but Florida’s better than LSU

Right now and so I would expect that they would win tonight in the Yoda we’ll see if you want to come out and watch it at Pluckers it’s going to be a lot of fun we always enjoy those way basketball games we’ll be watching LSU and Florida

Uh we’ll have sports trivia at 8:30 so they’ll probably about 10 minutes to go in the game uh when we crank things up we’ll have you out of there by 10:00 if you want to come hang out uh and enjoy some basketball drink some delicious cold beers eat some awesome wings and

To LSU and Florida as well on the hardwoods so plenty plenty to get to on this Wednesday as we keep checking off the days so first pitch of the box coming up 2 o’clock on Friday one thing left to do today check back that is take it or leave

It all right first one here as we suspected Ty Taylor Made and Tiger Woods announced a new line of golf attire called Sun Day red three words obviously probably the differentiate from the Nike trademark I would guess take it or leave it I’ll take it like it’s fine like I I

Don’t love the logo whatever um I I don’t get I understand they can’t use Sunday red because that’s a Nike trademark but I don’t is there some sort of meaning behind Sun and day and red just’re using the same words and spreading them out yeah I

Don’t I don’t know I guess they maybe explain I don’t know if they’ve explain that with the roll out or not but I’m guessing it’s just so they can get around the trademark I guess so I I was thinking maybe there was some kind of

Maybe there is I don’t know but it’s um the more like I think about T it’s like the fact that he came out with that the red and black that he was going to wear every Sunday and he was the only guy to kind of do that and then I mean

Obviously Ricky had his orange thing now there’s that have their and R likes to do the the kind of red thing with the gray as his kind of deal but um now I guess he’s got to wear whatever stupid team name he has so yeah cancel that um

But I just that it was just what a like Larger than Life person he he was in the game of golf for so long so I I’m sure Taylor made him make some cash off of this the question is in Tiger Playing he golf this week we’ll see we’ll see that

Pretty quickly last night Spurs forward W Victor okay I’m all over Victor wiama recorded his 75th three 150th assist and 150th block of the Season by the way he’s only 48 games in yep he’s the first player in NBA history to do so in the same season wiim minyama

Will win multiple League MVPs take or leave it um it’s hard to win multiple MVPs but he’s kind of a unicorn so I’ll take it he’s he’s got those kind of traits that your yices and giannis’s and LeBron’s have um just being that big that difficult to handle and that skilled

It’s hard to do I I wouldn’t call it a slam dunk that he’s going to win multiple MVPs but I I would I would lean to that side and also a fellow rookie Chad hren also will will be having the he will also reach that stat line this

Season so just another guy that’s just they’re two diff two players that are completely different from just what we’ve ever seen before I feel like Chad was it Gaga like seven years ago like I don’t even have like strong Rec not that not that Gonzaga is always very present

To us because they they disappear for 2 months in the middle of the Season uh like you just don’t see any Gonzaga in January and February ever but um I guess if they play at R Arena you see him but um it uh it just then he got hurt and

It’s like he’s been kind of out of sight out of mind but he’s he’s very good he is all right moving on here freshman LSU golfer Jay Mell won his first Collegiate title at the how williams Collegiate shooting 10 under Mel will be playing in

The US am soon take her or leave it I’ll take it I’m for all the you guys playing great and getting to the PGA Tour I would love it if LSU had a similar contingent to the the Georgia crew like Alabama’s got a few guys out there

Oklahoma State’s got a solid crew on tour as well Texas has spe and Sheffer out at top and then you got like Bo hostler and some of those guys who are pretty good but it’s kind of been the the Sam Burns Show uh for LSU foray out

There you do have Ben Taylor out there um but he’s never as as present as Burns is so I would love it if I I’m not I don’t know if Jay Mell a great player or not he’s freshman he’s shooting 10 under winning tournaments that’s great but I’d

Love a little more presents from the LSU folks out there and I can guarantee you Scott rabet would like a little more presents so he can continue to have reasons to go cover all the Masters cups and stuff all right last one here Linton sacrifices take it or leave it I’ll take

It like I’m all forward if you want to do something uh it’s it’s positive for Lent I don’t know if my wife’s got anything dialed up or not I’m just probably not going to I need to maybe run a little bit more and maybe eat a few better things but nothing like yeah

There’s no maybe but it is uh it’s it’s definite but question is will I do it I don’t I don’t know you going to give anything up for lint uh I I I don’t think so um I I don’t practice lint but I do think that it is a good idea to
