Is This The BEST Driver You’ve Never Considered?!

The Cleveland Launcher XL 2 driver has been putting out some seriously impressive numbers across driver tests in 2024. But Cleveland isn’t generally at the top of the list when players discuss drivers they want to test for the upcoming season.

So, how does the new Cleveland Launcher XL 2 driver perform, and is it a driver you should consider? I got my hands on one to find out.

Hi, I’m Hannah Holden; welcome to my channel!

I am a +2 golfer from Leeds, England.

This YouTube channel aims to help you improve your golf by offering up-to-date reviews on the latest golf equipment, stats on how scratch golfers shoot low scores, and course vlogs to help improve your course management.

I also partner with PGA Golf Professionals such as @jrbackhousegolf to bring you tips to improve your golf game.

If that wasn’t enough I’ll make sure you’re on top of the latest rules of golf!

Is this the best driver you’ve never considered using today I’m testing out the Cleveland launcher XL2 to find out if it should be on your RAR this year somehow I’ve never hit a Cleveland driver before this review which is pretty mindboggling when you think I literally test golf equipment all the

Time there’s been loads of hype about this club so I was really excited to get my hands on it I think maybe initial impressions are different to what I expected when you look at that like launch material and the name like introducing the whoa hang on driver is

Huge you thinking this is going to be like a massive Golf Club but actually behind the ball it sits really nicely it is obviously more elongated than say your small spin models you really compact models but Cleveland done a great job of kind of using the color

Using the lines on the back to really make this Frame the ball well and not look too big behind the golf ball I’m not entirely sure what the color is but it has like this nice Shimmer to it and I’m all here for it it’s kind of like a

Just off black little bit into grit and I would say actually because the club head is bigger it makes the face look a bit shallower which I think I like behind the golf ball in terms of not feeling like I can really miss the ball

At the bottom or the top of the club head sometimes if you have a really deep Club head it just looks like you’re not going to hit it out the middle if you catch it at bottom it’s a lot worse now the big Tech here is the main frame XL

Face and obviously this uses AI basically this is a variable thickness face we’ve got different thicknesses across the back and that’s going to increase ball speed increase consistency when you strike it across the face it also means there’s a bit more weight at the bottom of the club head which is

Going to help in terms of forgiveness now on that point because this is an XL head there’s been loads of repositioning of weight around the perimeter here that’s going to drive up that Moi and actually we’ve got 2% morei left to right but 12% more vertically across the

Clubface making this the highest Moi driver that Cleveland have ever produced so hopefully it should be pretty forgiven now the big like kind of story of this was ease of use how easy it is to hit and to kind of feed into the story there is counterbalancing in this

Club so there is actually an 8 gam weight under the handle which clev a say is just going to make this feel like it’s easier to hit and easier to launch let’s hit some shots and see if it is so on the fifth hole all Woodle Golf Club

It is a par four it’s quite short and it’s downwind so I wonder how close we can get to do with this there is a few bunkers to kind of meander around at about 250 but feels like good conditions to get something launch in that was so bad I’ve also got a

Really good shaft in this so I’ve got the Missi T side blue it is a 55 r i do generally use a 60 stiff but it is obviously very similar to what I typically give sounds very high pitched doesn’t it I hit this on the Range before like collecting data

And I didn’t interestingly didn’t pick up on that as much it sounds a lot louder more high pitched out on the golf course definitely different to other models on the market definitely very easy to launch like I’m getting really easy height on this which something I’ve been struggling a little bit with recently

Actually weirdly gone from hitting it really high to not having enough height now in terms of the numbers this has been averaging between like 220 and 227 in terms of yardage which is pretty strong compared to other models I tested this year pretty much on average most clubs I’ve been hitting have been

Carrying like 227 up to my longest at like 230 so in terms of it’s definitely close perhaps a little bit shorter on average than some of the other models but well within a few yards the ball speed isn’t perhaps quite as fast and a lot of the models I’ve seen up in the

140s this is kind of in the high like 138s 139s but it’s very optimized in terms of like more High pretty good spin so I’m like getting a lot out of this golf club better so I’ve actually found so far it’s pretty easy to draw this I would

Say the driver is fairly neutral it’s not a real draw bias driver but if anything there probably is a little bit of help in that kind of right to left shot shape which is generally what most people need now if you’re someone that feels like you really need extra help in

That category there is also a draw bias version of this driver available so it’s worth checking that out if you are a real slicer or struggle losing the ball to the right a lot I think the key theme here is just how easy it is to hit good shots which is obviously

What we’re all trying to do more of now I probably would say against some of the models I’ve tested it might not necessarily be the longest but actually for consistency and for someone who kind of struggles to get the right height on the shots get the right launch this is

Going to make you drive the golf ball better now this driver is retailing online at 379 at the moment which is like a good 100 130 could cheaper than most other brands drivers and it does like beg the question about what you’re getting for your money because yes this might be a

Few M hour slower and ball speed how much are you willing to pay for like an extra four to five yards this is literally like an off the rack spec luckily it is like the shaft I happen to use but not obiously not the right weight or Flex it’s just the Loft

They’ve sent me I haven’t done any adjusting of this so how much much could this be dialed in to be close to like those custom fit models for a fraction of the price I mean that ball f is just so good that’s creeping up near that bunker

There was a bit of bit of run out on that I think like the big problem for me with this is the sound it’s really high pitch it’s very loud and it wouldn’t necessarily be my preference but actually the performance is really good I’m going to hit one with my driver and

See how close the balls end up basically same Sha but mine’s 10 G is heavier and stiff B the same shaft but profile the sounds so different I mean it definitely carried a bit further I do prefer like the more muted sound but in terms of like ball fight they were very

Similar now I would say there is a little bit more stability in say some of the like 10K drivers because they’re all about driving that forgiveness and I do feel like a t strike on one of those real high forgiving models is going to give me a little bit more forgiveness

Than this let try hit it out the T see what happens oh God was like here it was worse than that was it yeah was like sideways i’ hit a few healers so I was trying to like demonstrate it all right go a little less severe off the to no Club

Can save you if you miss the ball set off pretty much on Target and it’s drawn like 20 25 yards that was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be I thought obviously the height dropped off you can see that and there was a lot of right to

Left ship but no I knew what I expected I thought we were going to end up in like the left roof can I hit it out the same like place on the face two shots in a row I mean look at that it’s absolutely Arrow straight but

At the end of the day both of them are in the Fairway which does really make you think about what you pay an extra for if you’re real at that obviously top level where 20 to 30 yards of dispersion makes a massive difference well I’m maybe giving up five yards and I’m still

On The Fairway there was a big question mark on how you pick your clubs what’s actually important to like you and your golf and what you’re paying your money for

  1. This is a great driver for the money as is the Wilson Dynapwr available in carbon or titanium and also offers great value.

  2. The issue with the "cheaper" drivers is they always look cheap. If this looked as good as a stealth or SIM a lot of people would probably buy these.

  3. The numptys will ignore everything you just said and will still be buying the big brand names, then hit them into the trees and rough every second drive. But they won't care as it went further than their mates that one good drive that went straight out of the 12/14 holes.. The more intelligent golfer will be getting fitted for this and enjoy the walks down the fairways and no double or trebles on their scorecard.

I like your reviews. Keep concentrating on the forgiveness of the Drivers. Anyone with more than two braincells will know R&A has set the conforming Driver speed off the face, so no one driver will out preformed any other by distance and forgiveness. Choose forgiveness every time and you will have a happier life😊
