  1. Thanks Tom..you absolutely nailed it ! The craziness about "shallowing , squatting and "making space" is such a slipperly slope. and NOT body friendly . NO golf instructor that is promoting this will discuss the "NET NET " benefit of this and really only limber and athletic golfers can do this.. but for what ???

  2. Good video about it being unnecessary to fire the hips as fast as possible, or get as open with them as possible. 3d of the majority of tour pros show that is not what they are doing. Too many bad instructors and general people in the industry promoting that movement that doesn't correlate with clubhead speed or power. The pros you named that really twist their hips are not the fastest swingers nor the longest hitters on their tours, far from it.
    Former World Long Drive champion turned instructor Monte Scheinblum posted an article that showed his hip speed, Rory Mcilroy's hip speed, and some of his students hip speeds and it shows that there is no correlation between hip speed and swing speed.
    3d shows tour pros (and long drivers ex: Martin Borgmeier, Jeff Flag, etc) decelerate their hips prior to impact.
    Many other instructors also show that the hips are not a significant power source (Mike Malaska, Tony Luczak, Adam Porzak, Pete Cowen, Kerrod Gray, Giles Gill, Danny Maude, Andy Carter, Chris Ryan, Shaun Wbb and AMG. Just to name a few good instructors). Good job working to dispel the false myth that hip rotation and hip speed produce swing speed…its false.

  4. Just got back from hitting balls . Concentrated only on shoulder at ball and lower arms in backswing. Crushed my 8 iron and p wedge. Gonna stick with it. Thx

  7. Spot on, Tom! The obsession with hip turns in teaching videos is ludicrous. I've always thought the hip turn is a consequence of the golf swing, not the starting point.
