How to Properly Create Lag | GolfPass

Chris KO here and I’m going to give you a feel that might help you straighten out your drives now if you look at a lot of the best players in the world they often times create what’s called like a lot of lag in transition that angle between the shaft and Lead arm gets

Pretty acute it’s how you create a lot of power now the problem is is that sometimes people in an effort because they’ve seen that they’ve been told to create lag they try to hold on to this vertical set in the wrist for too long they’re making that intention of holding

That and then what happens is in order to hit this ball Square you got to get this forearm and turn it towards the target before you make make impact if you hold that angle and you turn your form to towards the target it’s actually going to kick the club out too much and

It becomes really difficult to hit even a decent shot that way if it just kind of kicks out sort of high and over it late in the downswing so what people end up doing is they they end up never turning that form or or waiting too late

To turn that form towards the Target and then they’re fighting a really open face and they’re starting to hit slices often times what they’ll do is compensate by scooping or doing a chicken wing and this is often times just from having a bad idea of lag one the lag is going to

Come more from um just having a dynamic transition starting the downwing with your lower body have moving in two directions with your upper body your lower body and your arms stretching across your chest that’s often times where you naturally create more lag from

But now what I want you to do is if you do have this feeling of lag you can start to really feel like it’s narrow that shaft angle to lead arm is is very acute in transition but then I want you to feel like you get lag thumb

Down as you’re turning that form towards the target so feel the lag but then make sure you get the thumb down thumbs down which is gting the wrist into what’s called like owner position maybe you’ve heard that it’s getting the wrist down as those wrists are getting down that’s

What’s going to allow you to turn the forarm towards the Target and allow this club to stay on a nice path from the inside so the feel is feel some lag in transition and then wrist down turn the forarm towards the target getting that wrist down is what’s going

To allow that club to get lower coming into the ball so you have more of a sweeping angle of attack into the ball not so down but as well let you turn the forarm towards the Target and keep the club coming from the inside so give that

A try I’m going to do one right here I’m going to try and feel some lag in transition but then really get the wrist feeling down coming impact which is going to allow me to square the face but again keep the path coming from the inside and that was a nice little draw

Left side of Fairway so try that feel out I hope that adds a little bit of clarity to how to create lag but then how to square the face up when you’re trying to create lag cuz that’s actually the most important part you’re only going to create as much actual lab as

You can lag as you can square up because your ball your mind’s going to always React to what that ball is doing try that next time you hit balls if you have any questions leave them in the comments below
