2013 U.S. OPEN MERION GOLF CLUB

This is the 2013 U.S. Open at the famous Merion Gol Club.Which was won by Justin Rose

What lies ahead could be even [Applause] [Applause] better expect anything different the Open Championship of the United States of America a shot of his life little Ben Hogan captures top honors to dou an unreal performance from Rory mroy what a I can said myself one this time I’ve been dreaming in this moment since I was

10 years old the older you get the more thrilling it gets because the harder it gets the United States open this is the greatest golf tournament in the world A record 9,860 entries were received for the 113th United States Open championship at historic Marian Golf Club the firm and fast conditions that USGA executive director Mike Davis was hoping for were washed away by more than 6 in of rain in the week leading up to the championship crws worked around the

Clock to ensure that Maran would be ready for the start of play on Thursday morning Phil mikkelson the runner-up in a record five us opens already came to marry in a well-traveled man he flew from carlbad to Philadelphia for a practice round on June 2nd went to

Memphis where he finished second in the St Jude classic flew back up to marry and early in open week then returned to Carlsbad for his daughter’s eighth grade graduation before taking a red eye back into Philly for the start of the championship ship Thursday morning getting just a couple hours sleep before

His 7-Eleven starting time off the 11th hole mikkelson began the day with a three- putt bogey but a birdie at the short Par 3 13th got him back to even par and he faced this long effort at the first to get into red [Applause] figures there’s a little Bull from Phil oh

Nice after five straight pars mikkelson had this nineiron approach to the par 47 there we go come On that’s set up a birdie to give Nicholson the lead by himself at two under then at the difficult par 39th a five iron to the middle of the green left him an uphill left to right putt from 30 ft you can see he’s playing it to hook for

Him and that has a chance and it buries it again for Nicholson his three under 67 was his lowest round in a US Open since 1999 at Piner also in Thursday’s morning wave was England’s Justin Rose playing in the group behind mikkelson Rose opened his round with this Approach at the par

411 and that would set up a birdie to get into red figures but a string of Bogies left Rose at four over par and in danger of falling out of touch with the leaders by the time he came to the sixth he faced this long birdie putt to get his round back on

Track Rose back to three over then at the seven here at the short Par Four Justin Rose has a chance for birdie up the hill just a little bit of turn to the left and he sneaks it in there so back to back birdies now for

Justin Rose he would Salvage a 71 to stay in contention web Simpson didn’t start his opening round until after 5:00 because of weather delays but the defending Champion took advantage of the soft conditions shot go go go he put his fivewood at the long par 33d to within 2 feet for

Birdie then at the next Simpson had a tricky lie for his approach from 132 got it up against that carar of the rough and of course the issue is trying to make good contact which he apparently did very good Raj that set up another birdie due to Darkness Simpson finished

His opening round the next morning and struggled making three Bogies including here at 17 he’ finished the championship tied for 30 seconds Englishman Lee Westwood who had top 10 finishes and three of the previous five us opens began his quest for his first major championship title

With a downhill 20ft birdie putt at the [Applause] fifth another birdie of 10 improved him to three under before some bad luck on his third shot to the par 42 his shot struck the wicker basket and ricocheted some 30 yds back off the front of the green The Misfortune led to a double bogey for Westwood who finished the day with an even par 70 with four victories on the PGA tour already in 2013 Tiger Woods once again

Came to Maran as the favorite however the world’s top ranked player got off to a slow start missing the Fairway at the first Craig look at how Lush that rough is Johnny and then the the grass along the faces of the bunkers let go of the

Club with the right hand is it going to be okay nope not a good spot and that’s going to be a very strange putt with that little brow that sticks out I’m not even sure how close he can get that it might have hurt his wrist a bit he would

Make a bogey on the first but look to get it back with a 10-ft putt at the par five [Applause] second missing the fairways at Maran make a difficult course even more treacherous now plus one Tiger’s fivewood approach chased through the green leading to another bogey but more

Worrisome was an apparent injury to his left wrist which left him wincing and grimacing in pain after the swing he then faced a long putt for birdie at the part for six pretty good how you doing don’t need two one Putt in a birdie silly game

This that birdie moved him back to one over he was plus three when he once again missed the Fairway this time at 11 and again hitting From the Rough resulted in more pain Woods would save par but finished his round on Friday morning with a 3 over 73 Luke Donald whose precise game seemed well suited for Maran was also looking for his first major breakthrough he faced a big breaking putt for birdie to open his round just creeping it left to right

Perfectly nice P wow wow that’s got a big swing to make that after a birdie at 11 Donald stuck his Approach at the 12th to within 3 ft this putt to tie mikkelson at three under with Darkness setting in he tried to make it three straight at the short

13 you would expect this close this is right in Luke’s wheelhouse here that led to his fifth Birdie Thursday but he struggled the next morning and finished with an opening round 68 so Nicholson had a one-stroke lead over Donald Matthew gogin Nicholas karts and Russell Knox only three others were

Able to shoot level par but after 18 holes the field was tightly bunched after the first round ended Friday morning the players got back to work in round two and starting at 11: Woods par his first two holes then selected a pitching wedge at 13 [Applause] that’s well

Done it set up a birdie to get him back to two over the 14-time major winner gave back Strokes at 14 and 18 but look to take advantage of the par fives on the outward nine his third at the second spinning back to within inches setting up a tap in birdie

Then at the fourth from 159 gouging one out from a buried lie in the left rough go go go and over the creek guarding the front of the green and settling within 10 ft of the hole an amazing recovery looking to position himself for a weekend charge this was to move back

To two over and he pulls within five of nichelson on a difficult day for scoring at the seventh Woods faced a delicate chip with a clump of grass behind his ball this is one of those things he just literally want to just chunk it a couple feet and hope it runs Out he made bogey there and finished even on the day plus three after 36 after stumbling a bit to finish his opening round Luke Donald looked to get back on track with this birdie putt from 25 ft at the 12 and that tied mikkelson at three under after missing the green long at

The par 313th Donald faced this chip running back down the hill look at that Luke to the lead at the US Open and Donald surged to four under Bogies at the 15th and second dropped him back to two under but this four iron on the 203 yd third was right on the

Mark very high and starts right at the flag stick it stays there to within 6 fet setting up this putt to regain a share of the lead just one of seven birdies on the hole on Friday and Donald’s third of the round but a bogey at the par five fourth

And this Wayward drive at the fifth had Donald coming back to the field it finds the hazard on the left leading to a bogey then at the next backto back Bogies at four and five and this is to avoid another drop back to even par his par putt catches the lip and

Spins out another lost shot is third in a row and then this one for par at seven oh man four consecutive Bogies five out of six but Donald looked to get one back at the ninth Luke Donald trying to bring it back four iron down the hill

219 yds pretty good drop down to the green Now that’s a good one anything pass the holes very fast that’s a beauty one of the best shots we’ve seen all day that could be a nice way to finish his fifth Birdie on maran’s challenging par Theses over the first two rounds a second round 72 left him at even par for the

Championship playing in just his second US Open three-time Collegiate All-American Billy horel made the biggest move Friday over at the 10th second shot for Billy horel at the short Par Four and a Dandy this now for birdie no one’s going to say While We’re Young to Billy horel almost putting

While he was still stepping into it a birdie that gets him to even par he continued his roll with this birdie putt at 11 well how about this Billy H horel leads the PGA tour in Bird’s made well he just made another one there three

Under par now in his round not a bogey on his card impressive play moves to one under after a good drive at the lengthy closing Hall hsel from 236 the famous 18th where the Ben Hogan pose remains branded on everybody’s mind it’s everywhere at this Championship on the brochures on the program everywhere

Almost uh most of the fields misses scen of Regulation 27% have hit it what a shot by horel horel for birdie at 18 what an incredible round this ends with a birdie horel hit all 18 Greens in regulation the first person to do that in a US Open

Round since the stat was formally tracked starting in 19 1989 his round of 67 moved him to one under at the halfway point 46-year-old Steve Stricker came to Maran in search of his first career Major after opening with a bogey he had a 10-footer to get back to [Applause]

Even a great birdie four for Steve Stricker at the second okay head at 13 with a pitching wedge from 123 Yds he spins it back to 15 ft below the hole and the Wisconsin native look to roll in another one Steve Stricker tied for the lead at the US Open a bogy at 15 would drop him back to even for the championship but his second

Round 69 had him in a tie for third after 36 hle after three late birdies to salvage a 71 Thursday Justin Rose looked to stay hot on Friday from 25 ft at the first that’s got enough Justin Rose to even par within [Applause] Two and another long birdy bid at the par 5 Second Justin Rose straight up the hill very nice Justin Rose Rose now in red Figures a bogey at six dropped him to even but it approached to 10 ft at the eth left Rose this right to left swinger to move back to one under a birdie for Rose and the two-time European Ridder copper would post 69 for an even par 140 total through the first

36 Phil Nicholson looking to build on his opening 67 teed off late in the afternoon on Friday after he pulled his drive into the rough at the first he had this putt to save par so just the second bogey the championship and they both come at the

Opening holes of the first and second Rounds after a string of pars mikkelson was dialed in on the eighth from 14 5 oh come on baby come on come on oh wow just misses an eagle and looking to tidy up his short birdie lead but it burns the lip nichelson can’t believe it and he remains at two under

After missing the green with his Approach at the short 10th he faced a short bunker shot over a steep lip no problem for mikkelson within inches to save his par Aoki at 12 dropped him back to one under and then he had this to save par at

13 he would give away another one at the little Par 3 finally it’s hit the home hole a good drive left him 240 from the left Fairway oh that’s underneath the hole that’s good very good from 20 ft up the hill to close his round with a birdie and get back into red

Figures by to tied for the lead and the first birdie of the day at the final hole great step a 72 for Mickelson and he would share the 36 hole lead with Billy Hallw Donald Stricker and Rose were the only others who managed to stay even Par Tiger Woods was hoping to use moving day to better position himself for a run at a fourth open title and he wasted no time he had this left to right putt for birdie at the first got to fit perfect speed with that big a

Break and Dro it in perfectly wow what a great punch perfect speed Woods back to two over and seen Poise to threaten the lead but that would be his only birdie of the day and after a couple of Bogies more trouble at the sixth Tigers third going to hit a

Lofted club and he jumped it another bogey there push him to five over and into Free Fall Mode this is tiger for a day ending par yeah his chances for this US Open are toast a round that showed promise with an opening birdie ended with seven Bogies and a 76 his highest round as a professional in the US Open runner up at Congressional in 2011

Australia’s Jason Day made a charge Midway through his third round when he was at plus four over to 10 this is Jason Dave for birdie that gets him to three over and the long hitting young Aussie he’s right in the middle of this this is Jason day lining up for what would add

To the birdie list at 13 pretty straight to it it’s a plus two Jason day is just three back three more pars brought him to the famed Quarry at Marion the 254 yd Par 3 17th and day with a two Iron and what a shot by day yeah that was sweet a three footer left to get back to one over and just one of five birdies there Saturday after a bogey on the last day CED a 68 and was very much in the hunt starting the day at even Justin

Rose opened with three pars and had this left to right birdie putt from The Fringe at four just letting gravity to the rest what a nice punch birdie for Rose we’ve got two men under par he had tumbled back to plus one but nearly reached the green at the 280 yd par 410

Justin Rose played a beautiful t- shot to the edge of the green this for eagle and he oh just loses speed he thought that was in so Justin Rose makes birdie at 10 look for yeah gets her back to even par two back and Rose like many others on

Saturday took advantage of the 13th playing at just 98 yds this birdie from 10 [Applause] ft and Rose joins four others at underpar now but after missing the green at 17 to the right he faced this chip From the Rough and he caught it back and would go on to Bogey each of the last two holes to finish it one over to

11 Steve Stricker who started the day at even par continued his steady play with pars at the first eight holes but he found trouble at the par 39 that one is headed right for Steve strier and in the hazard he would double bogey to drop to plus two but that was

The only blemish on his scorecard in the third round a birdie putt at the 12 A third round 70 and he was even for the championship Donald who struggled late Friday opened his third round with three pars now Luke Donald coming across for birdie and filling it up that was such a beautiful stroke that birdie got him into a three-way tie for the

Lead aogi at six dropped him back to even but Donald had this 10-footer at eight to regain a share he’s planed for it to go left back in their TI for the lead and then is second at the 10 from 73 Yds to set up another birdy opportunity Luke Donald now to tie for the lead so Luke Donald gets him to two under six pars and aogi at 17 brought Donald to the finishing hole at one under but his approach found a difficult lie in the right rough this is

Third just grabbed the hle shut it over that would lead to a double bogy six three shots lost at the final two holes and Donald would end the day at plus one charl schwarzel the 2011 Masters champ started the day at plus one Boi at thei

Dropped into two over but a great t- shot at the third set up this five-footer and gets it down so just the second bir of the day recorded here at the long par three that by schwarzel gets him back to plus one he looked for another one at the

Next schwarzel for birdie at this par five fourth he’s coming off of Birdie at the Third and another Beauty there for schwarzel that got him into a six-way tie for second a terrific Approach at seven put him in position for another birdie schwarzel with a chance to get to

One under par share the lead this is that putt that doesn’t move much he read it well yes finally somebody read it correctly a beautiful drive by Schwarz will at 10 to within 15 yds of the green left this pitch back up the hill That’s A Touch of Class right

There so this for his fourth birdie of the round so Charles schwarzel picks up a birdie at 10 and goes into a one shot lead he too with struggle on the closing holes bogey at 17 and this to save par at the last The Boogey bogey finish would drop schwarzel back to even for the championship Billy H horel who started the day as co-leader at one under was hoping to sustain his momentum from his near perfect second round going for the par five second and Two boy that is way left he would get relief from the scoreboard but still faced a challenging third and from a top F Into the Bunker he played his fourth to The Fringe and had this to save par how about that and hell’s great scramble kept him in red numbers he

Dropped three Strokes before this birdie try at 11 porel for a three needs one badly and he’s got it that’s his first birdie of the day Johnny moves him to plus one so just three back over 13 horel looking for another one it’s just outside right

Edge Rams it home to get back to even but confident young horel was fired up his third round 72 kept him in contention for his first major clutter Mayhan already a five-time winner on tour was also looking for his first he was even on the round through the first

11 when he had this long birdie put at 12 a four here would be good but a three would be better that amazing that three after the unlikely birdie at 12 Mayhem kept it going at the 13 this is on a perfect line he’s got the distance that’s right to the side you’re talking about almost far enough

Left it nearly made history in a US Open a Marion no a sever here he would tap in to move to one Under and over to the Quarry D Mayhan totally blind shot this was an eight iron and this is on a nice line oh and it’s good oh it is really good this for his fourth Birdie on the back nine and he makes to tie for the lead at

Two under a familiar pattern though he closed with two Bogies giving him a second straight round of 69 Phil mikkelson’s nerves were tested early this to save par at the third and he drops back to even he hoped to regain the Lost stroke at the par 54th but this eight-footer misses low as

Well aogi at the fifth dropped nichelson to one over and then he had this downhill 10-footer at six to save par and boy does he make that look easy that is clutch right there so mikkelson stays two back three straight pars brought melson to the tth

Looking for his first birdie of the day to move back to even so there you go Phil melson good birdie at 10 then looking to back it up at 11 from 10 ft little downhill little movement to the left he’s got it backto back mes by Nicholson he gets back into red figures

One behind he parred 12 and 13 but left himself this tricky chip over the mound from the closely moan area just off the green at 14 o h that big thick that that have been in if it was a fiberglass finin he thought he made [Applause]

It then for birdie up the hill at 15 how does that not go in mikkelson and disbelief as his putt grazes The Edge he remains at one under another opportunity at 16 this is very hble this for his third Birdie on the back nine against no

Bogies oh it stayed right there Ro it did not move oh somehow it stays out leaving Mickelson talking to himself then at 17 where most players were pulling hybrids and Fairway Woods he’s got four in and out 254 yeah be kidding me four longest iron

He’s got in the bag John well maybe it’s more like a three might just say four oh he’s hit it solid right at the center of the green oh did he hit it solid I me that’s going to get close there’s a hill right there that’ll just trickle it right off

That’s why you could not miss it to the left of the green and that’s the best shot he’s hit all day long while many of his competitors were giving backstrokes on the closing holes Nicholson had a chance to come away with a rare birdie a little bit slow this punt the first

Half and it came just like 2002 when he lit up the hillside this time the grand stand Rises his one as Mickelson has the sole lead in the United States open the fifth birdie all day at 17 and the crowd loves it P at 18 mikkelson for par to close

His day with a back n 31 wow just short and even par 70 though met Mickelson was the only player under par through 54 holes at Maran and for the first time in his career he would go to sleep on Saturday night as the sole leader in the US Open Mayhem schwarzel and Stricker however

Were just one stroke back with three others two off the lead already a record five-time runner up at the US Open mikkelson was hoping to celebrate his 43rd birthday on Sunday with a national championship title but the early fireworks belonged to Houston native sha Stephanie the 31-year-old

Came to the 213 yd Par 3 17th at 20 overp par but his weekend got a lot better when this four iron took a nice bounce off the slope kicked onto the green and trickled all the way toward the wicker basket and into the hole for an ace the

First ever in a US Open at Marian and just the 43rd in the championship’s history it was a disappointing week for Tiger Woods who came to Maran in pursuit of his fourth US Open title The Long birdie put at one of the few highlights for him yes it just catches the bottom

Lip you know if he’d been doing that all week John he might be in the middle of this thing a final round 74 left him at 13 over for the championship finishing in 32nd Place Charles schwarzel who started just a stroke behind mikkelson looking to get things going at the first from

147 this one is just right to the flag pretty good shot that’s the best shot we’ve seen with the best leave that’s the key then to convert from 6 feet schwarzel for birdie to tie Mickelson behind him should make this F and Schwarz barely has it tip over and

He’s back into red numbers at one under playing with schwarzel Steve Stricker was looking to become the oldest champion in US Open history but his t- shot at the second was wide to the right across the road and out of bounds an uncharacteristic Miss from the normally steady and accurate

Stricker and after getting his next Drive in play it would get worse his fourth at the Second wow this is a shank that was a dead shank triple Bo on the hole and Stricker was never a factor from there he finished tied for eight Phil mikkelson looking to get his round off to a good start a long birdie try it one it’s a good looking and

Go mikkelson stays at one under Luke Donald who started the day two back forced a hit driver at the uphill 266 yd par 33d which was playing into the wi trying to hit a cut and he double crossed it’s headed way left left to the green some bad stuff over there his

Wayward t-shot hit a volunteer who had received treatment and be okay but Donald would never recover it began a streak where he made five bogeys and a double over a stretch of seven Holes his outward 9 43 dropped him out of contention but Donald would still

Manage a tie for eight his best finish in a US Open Justin Rose hoping to become the first English Champion since Tony jacquin in 1970 faced this putt forar at the third but a bogey would drop him to plus two mikkelson after reaching the greenside bunker in two at the par five second from an awkward

Stance and got it to come out so so high and soft that is brilliant again exhibiting his exceptional touch around the greens what a birdie this would be Roger tremendous up Ann now he’s done that all week he’s hit brilliant recovery shots great iron shots but the putter has led him down so

Far so a disappointing par at the second for Nicholson making a big Sunday charge was Jason duffner who began the final round at plus eight Jason duffner making a bit of a move up the board and a good round going currently at plus five three under on the

Day this is a portion of the golf course where you can get back at Maring a bit and there’s the way you play the second at 12 [Applause] Jason Duffer for that birdie at the 12th and he is four on his R [Applause] today plus four for the

Championship and while dter was surging one of the leaders was struggling to stay in contention schwarzel for par at the third and he falls back to even then at the fourth another short cut missed a third straight bogey at five was followed by this Approach at

Six wow that is flared way to the right underneath the grand stand and it would lead to a double bogey six and when this par put at seven slid by on the right schwarzel had dropped six Strokes in his last five holes once tied for the lead he would

Settle for a 70 8 at a 14th Place finish after his bogey at three Rose hit the par five fourth and two and had this Puck for Eagle it would roll by but he would make birdie to move back to Plus One mikkelson Missed The Green at the third

Leaving him this pitch from the tall grass from just outside the Bunker the shot failed to reach the upper level of the green it tricked some 45 ft away from the hole he would three putt for double bogey dropping him to plus one but while the leaders were struggling duffner remained hot for his fifth birdie of the day at 13 oh it got

In he didn’t think he made that he thought he missed it right so Jason duffner is five under on the round look at that he’s saying how did that go in Michelson back at four trying to reach the par five and two from 258 No idea where it is but he’s going Tock it when he sees it just left of the Wicker one of the best shots of the day to within 20 ft back at the fifth look how far out Justin Rose is playing this par Attempt a bogey and he would slide back to two over Billy horel making a fashion statement with his pants trying to do the same with his game after Bogie’s on three of his first five holes for birdie at six and Billy horel now back in it at plus three and there’s that celebration

We’re used to seeing he struggled to a 40 on the front nine but this Approach at 12 spinning to within a foot set up a tap in birdie he would shoot a 74 and tied for fourth in just a second major championship appearance mikkelson back at four for Eagle he would tap in for a birdie to move him into a tie for the lead with Mayan at even par ahead at 15 duper was hoping to put more pressure on the leaders but this drive hooks across Golf House Road out of bounds and leads to a triple bogy

Seven the only miscue of his round at the next he had this to get one stroke back it was his sixth birdie of the day a 67 for duffner earns him his second consecutive fourth place finish in the US Open at the sixth Rose continued his up

And down start to the final round with this long putt big swinger across the green and thank you very much so Justin Rose back to one over melson in trouble back at five had had this to save Bogey two double Bogies already today and this birthday wish is not coming true at the moment good at the eight and’s see if Jason day can get it to plus one not too much break here this very makeable and Jason day one back back at seven just Rose but it goes

Downhill initially and back a little bit uphill at the end should move to the right and do so Justin Rose to even par now tied for the lead at the sixth melson looking to rebound from his double Bogies from 210 yds into the wi and that is one of the best we’ve seen

Today he’ll have a good look at birdie here he’s due he hasn’t made a Fun and when those kind of opportunities present themselves at a US Open you’ve got to take advantage melson stays at plus two Mayhem also at six had a tricky par putt boogy dropped into plus one and out of the share of the lead then Justin Rose at eight to remain the sole

Leader just Cur around and in yeah that didn’t have to go in that’s got a little momentum right now and a little magic the first par on his card since the second back at the short par 41th Jason day looking for another birdie how out that that goes way

Right so that ties Jason day at the top at even par he then missed the Fairway at 11 his second from the right rough go yelling for it to go that is a huge mistake Day now playing his fourth from the Drop Zone awkward shot here just 77 yds oh

That was chunky it barely carries the hazard leaving another difficult shot St with his fifth shot now very delicate oh hey these are the kind of things that happen sometimes when you win clutch unbelievable only drops one back at the ninth melson was is taking dead aim at the tucked hole

Location this is a par hole this is not a birdy hole that said this is at the hole right at it what a shot then from 18 ft down the hill to full within a [Applause] shot just will not go into today just over the edge over the edge over the

Edge probably five six times today but the leaders were also coming back to mikkelson Rose at 11 after powering his first putt 6 feet by the hole this now for par back up the hill he leaves it short three put bogy plus one ones are tied at the [Applause]

Top despite the two double Bogies mikkelson was still just one behind playing his second from the right rough at 10 76 yds and green was running left to right on him very very coarse oh that’s nice oh birthday present well John you were talking about the fact that nothing’s

Gone right and nothing’s gone in how about that shot wow well if he’s going to win a US Open he might as well do it in typical Mickelson like fashion that’s just something else he’s got two doubles on his card and now an eagle a suddenly re-energized Mickelson

Leap Frog day Mayan and Rose to reclaim the lead as the Roars echoed throughout Marian’s Back N they had this birdie putt to draw even with Michelson at 13 Jason a wiggle left on him it was in and it just Wiggles for no reason left body

Had that back at 12 Rose took dead aim from the center of the Fairway good chance for birdie here with those sideboards he’s going to get it up to the hole that’s going to be close real close yep that’s going to be a tap in for Justin Rose

And now it’s melson and Rose at top the board at even but Rose wasn’t finished there after a sandwich to 20 ft at 13 this for the outright Lead and that one tracking in wow what a fifth birdie of the day for Justin [Applause] [Applause] Rose and michon one of the few to Bogey 13 Jason day bogey the 14 then had this one for par at 17 and he made it clutch putt by day to stay at plus [Applause] two Rose now the solo leader after mikkelson’s miscue at 13 up the hill for

Birdie at 16 Justin Rose has this lengthy putt for birdie out of this low area and steeply Uphill he’s to leave this short oh he gave it a good WP a good WP who whoa that would leave him a tough comebacker to save Par kind like that it was a good PT but he misread it yep three-way tie now at the top but at 15 mikkelson had no direct line to the hole with his putter which forced him to take a a high-risk gamble I you know I I really think this

Is the right choice it’s an extremely difficult play certainly at this point in the competition but I really believe it’s his only chance to get it close he just can’t roll the ball at the at the flag so he’s going to try to Loft it over the edge of that

Bunker and he caught it thin he made bogy and fell out of the lead and trailed Rose by one Mayan was also struggling at 15 and needed this to save bogy a double drops him back to plus three Dave found the greenside bunker at 18 looking for an up and down to post

Plus two nips that one [Applause] beautifully and now talk about the par putt of his life which it could turn out to be Jason day to get in at plus two that cut could have had a little chance for a playoff and now I would say

No chance a great effort by day earned him his second runnerup finish in the last three us opens Rose after a par at 17 still leading by one over mikkelson the most important t- shot of his [Applause] life a beautiful drive in the center of the Fairway nichelson triling by one from

159 out of the left rough at 16 what looks good looks good that get to stop that quickly out of the rough so for Nicholson a brilliant approach shot at the 16th he will have a c for birie just steps away from the plaque that marks where Ben Hogan hit his

Iconic one iron in the final round of the 1950 US Open stood Justin Rose with a four iron in his hand closing in on his moment starting at the center and drawing if he’s got the distance it’s a good shot is it ever a good shot that was drilled that’s a good

Leave right there that’s a very good leave after his beautiful Approach at 16 nichelson with a look from 10 ft birdie putt that moves ever so slightly to the right agonizingly close again now it’s 17 where mikkelson made Birdie on Saturday and we fro in good shape at 18 it would appear that
