Okay we are here with the founder of a company called feathery Kate corngold and Kate let’s just start with how old are you 14 14 years old and she has her own clothing line how did you come up with the idea why did this get started
So I was frustrated for the lack of clothes that were made for teen girl golfers and I went to my parents with this problem and at first they didn’t believe me because it was just impossible that no no one had made clothes for kids like me and they
Researched and actually found that I wasn’t lying what were you wearing I was wearing um boy clothes khaki pants boys polos and so it was not fun because it felt like girls didn’t really have a place on the course instead we were kind of the afterthought and like we had to
Fit try to be like the boys I was dressing like the boys and I was beating the boys but so yeah I created this to help girls solve a problem like me so what I love what you just said was that you felt like you were an afterthought as a girl
And that’s happened often in the game of golf and there are so many women and organizations who are changing that one coming to mind is the LPGA usgaa girls golf program the goal is to change the face of the game because for so long 20% of golfers were women and and and in
Junior golf it was mostly boys that number has changed drastically over the last few years and you’re a testament to that as more and more girls are getting into the game and now they can look great as well how about the name of the company feathery tell me about that so A
Feather ball or a feathery was the first high performance golf ball ever made it was filled with goose feathers so that’s why we called our my company feathery because we are revolutionizing golf by adding a teen girls golf brand to the market which was created by a teen girl
So yeah you once you learned about the feathery ball which was now able to carry farther than any other golf ball you it was your idea to name the company because you knew you were going to revolutionize the game yep give me a high five on that all right take me
Through your line what do we have so yeah I have six pieces um I have a polo here so they all come in four Colors by the way we have Navy white pink and light blue are they your favorite colors yes perfect uh so yeah the polo has kind
Of like a feminine touch it has um it has more of a fit here so it’s not just a straight boys Polo and that was your thought I want a feminine touch how do you know all this or you just knew what you wanted yeah I did a
Girl knows what she wants I love it and then we also have like a tuliip edge here to make it more feminine again wow um contrast color here metal buttons um I needed to have the armholes to be big enough that I could swing a
Golf club but not too big that you can see undergarments or that it’s uncomfortable and then on the back I have a contrast colored yolk just to give it more character that and then the logo on the back too which I love tell me about this awesome vest wow so yeah it actually
Starts out as a jacket that looks like this no way howeve zip off with this hidden zipper in the back and it’s super easy to take on and off on the golf course so if it starts to get a little warm or a little colder you can just zip
Them on and off it’s that easy yeah even zipping it on sometimes I have trouble with my coat yep it’s that easy yeah so and it’s nice and warm for the center of the body which obviously then allows you to swing because the sleeves are uh light yeah it’s all is this all
Performance wear too moisture wicking and all the best I love this can you make a line for adults I want this one what else do we have we also have a sleeveless top that looks like this um it again has the Tulip Edge on
The side um this side is that a word in fashion tool of edge okay not something you created nope okay um the back is longer than the front so that um uh you can either leave it tucked in or untucked um and also if you’re bending
Down to get your ball um it if it rides up your back your back is not showing because it’s still longer you thought of that yeah it’s just these little details that I wanted to add in that make it more of a high quality product yeah 14 right y okay okay keep going
Thisal we also have the long sleeve which um has a rounded bottom here we have mesh underneath the arms to make it breathable a contrast color here and then our zippers on both the sleeveless and the long sleeve are stay zippers so that when you’re leaning over
The zipper doesn’t go down so it doesn’t pull like this unless you have to open it up and then pull it down so that it doesn’t go down while you’re swinging and then your chest did you have a challenge with that at one time I did
Yeah it would get it would get either get caught on something or because I’m leaning down and start riding down so I decided to you are a solution oriented thinker I love that yeah um and then the back just has more mesh back here back fabulous and you mentioned you were
Wearing compr was that because there were no pants for you yep there are no pants on the market tell us about your pant so uh my pant has racing stripes down the side it has these little openings on the bottom um it they’re pull on pants so they’re super easy they’re really
Comfortable um and then the back pockets for markers and te’s right and most important thing to me was like how I could use it most productively and like usefully so I added tea holders here so you could just stick a tea in right here like
That this I I’ve never seen that in a golf sh or or short skirt or pants that came out of your brain yep give me another high five you are brilliant and amazing that is such a great idea I can’t really know what else thought of
That did you patent that but that might be a good patent anyway Brant what do you like about the racing stripes I just think it gives it like a nice touch it um adds more detail makes it look clean sophisticated yeah I really like it fantastic I think I think we covered
Them all right oh and the skirt actually oh you have a skirt too let’s take this away show us the skirt so this is the skirt um it has the two pockets in the front has the racing stripe down the side again kind of to match with the
Pant um and then the opening and then on the back here it just has a pocket and a yolk but then the cool thing about our score is that um underneath we have the tea holders here and then a ball pocket so actually I
Have a tea in right now oh go and then a ball pocket um and yeah we have a ball pocket on both sides actually that’s great I would put my ChapStick in there that’s what I would put in there because I I think with sunscreen in it for the golf
Course this is such a brilliant line now are you involved in the marketing of it as well do you do that end or are you basically creative I’m more creative okay so who do you bring in for all the marketing how are you spreading the word
Uh my mom is helping me a lot yeah she’s been really helpful throughout this process excellent so the fames together dad involved it all yeah he is he does stuff yeah he does all right more so you and Mom yeah all right well I want to
