Lowest 18-hole score EVER | Del Solar shoots 57

In the opening round of the 2024 Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard, Cristobal Del Solar shot a bogey-free 13-under par 57 to set the lowest 18-hole score ever recorded in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event, which took place in Bogotá, Colombia.

Just playing um I didn’t even know what I was at I actually I asked my caddy on the 18th after I hit my 18th t-shot we were just walking and I called him I was like hey am I going to shoot am I going to break 60 I’ve never broken 60 before

So he was like I think you’re going to break a little bit more than 60 but yeah I mean I just I played in I mean I played really good golf I drove the ball well uh chipped It Well puted it Well um yeah I mean I’m I’m happy I

Mean it was a great round com do you think you have this type of round in you go this slow uh I mean I don’t know it had it had to be a specific you know type of course to kind of do this stuff obviously if it’s difficult you know the

Score is going to be higher uh obviously I haven’t even broken six practicing at my home course um you know in my home course is pretty difficult um so you know I’m I’m excited I mean maybe if I play on the women’s team maybe I’ll BR

60 some someday there but yeah I mean it’s uh yeah it’s I’m I’m just happy man it’s a great round when at what point today in this round was it at the turn after you know you had the 27 where you started thinking 60 was a possibility

What point was it kind um I mean I knew I mean I knew I I made the turn at eight eight under and um yeah I mean I just I was like you know what let’s try to just kind of put myself like a little like um goal on the

Back I was trying to shoot like I don’t know four or five under on the back nine just regardless of what I what I shot in the front and uh that kind of kept my head a little bit you know not thinking of you know what my score was or but uh

Yeah I mean it was it was good it kind of can I kept it going you know that’s that’s definitely the key um and coming in today the Pacos course last year played a bit easier on than logos so was that something coming into today that to take advantage of starting on this

Course today yeah of course um yeah I mean the greens are softer uh we there was a bunch of rain at the beginning of the week um so you know last year when I played the greensbor a lot firmer and I hit driver everywhere kind of like just

What I did today and then I kind of shorts side myself a few times and I couldn’t get it close but the greens were so soft and the pins were still tucked but you know greens were so soft that I could just hit it you know near

The green and just flop it near the hole or something you know that pot on 18 there was a score in your head at all when you’re eyeing it up uh not really I was just I mean obviously I wanted to make it I actually hit a good put I just

You know Miss read a little bit uh you know it was a little bit more break than I thought um but yeah I mean I I hit a great shot into it I hit a great PT too and happy it was like it’s a good round

And then how do you plan going into tomorrow kind of carry this momentum over yeah I mean new course tomorrow so um nah same strategy that I do you know in every every day every tournament you know same routine um nothing really changes you

Know so just going to try to do my best and trying to hit good shots and trying to make putts and hopefully hopefully you know at the end of the at the end of the week you know we’ll uh we’ll be good golf I told my my Prime partner we’re playing

Uh was it yesterday and he he was tell you know asking me about the course I’m like you know if if somebody could shoot 59 he would probably be out here and then well guess what I uh I broke it so I’m I’m happy does it make go ahead how does it know

Just good playing and being from South America does kind of make that a little bit more special doing it down here yeah of course yeah yeah I mean it’s you know the people you know they know me um you know that we had a good crowd going um
