RULES

Safe Return of Tennis to Scotland

Our plea to the First Minister of Scotland and Scottish Government Ministers to allow tennis to return to Scotland providing there is strict adherence to guidelines developed by Scottish Tennis and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).

While undoubtedly good for physical health, sport also plays a major part in supporting the mental health of those who play, which is an important aspect of the health of our nation at a time of enforced distancing. Scotland has a proud history in sport, amongst which we are the home of golf and proud to boast about the achievements of the Murray brothers as multiple Grand Slam winners and winners of the World Cup of Tennis (the Davis Cup).

With golf and tennis back recreationally in England as of today (13/05/20), we respectfully ask the First Minister and her ministerial team to take a few precious minutes to watch this presentation as to how tennis is safe to play in Scotland.

Tennis Scotland and the Lawn Tennis Association paid a great deal of attention to the rules set out by the Scottish Government in drafting Standard Operating Procedures for our sport – a sport with the added protection of a physical barrier in the form of a net, and 23 metre distancing between participants, baseline to baseline.
