Hi Owen here from Callaway golf I’m at the beautiful infinum golf club just south of Barcelona today I’m pretty excited because I going to be hitting the new paradigm AI smoke irons for the first time so there are three irons in the AI smoke range you’ve got the standard iron
Which I’ve got in my hands here you got a high launch which is obviously going to launch the ball higher uh and then you’ve got the max fast which is really designed for golfers looking for a bit of extra speed so that’s a a lightweight head with lightweight components so
Shaft and grip are going to be quite a bit lighter than they are in the standard smoke so as with the rest of the smoke family you’ll see the use of AI smartface in the iron So This Is Us looking at real world data looking at actual golfers taking 250,000 swings
Over the last few years to segment golfers into particular types and then create faces using that real world data for iron so ultimately you’re going to get a better per forming product as a result so uh anytime we can apply real world data to a problem um you’re going
To get a better solution so looking at the standard version here um the top line is not too thick um there’s not a ton of offset here um there is a little bit of kind of confidence inspiring element to the club um but but it looks pretty hitable so we’re using a chrome
Tour X so a new golf ball for Callaway for 20124 so that’s pretty pretty exciting for me as well and then we’ve got a forsight quad just to give us some number numbers some benchmarks okay feel off that face was fantastic straight down the stick actually yeah pretty good shot there uh
So got a ball speed of 121 carry 171 um so that’s going to be quite a lot longer than my iron so if I’m using the Apex CBS I would expect to carry them more like 160 so I’m picking 10 yards up from the technology there straight away
Uh total spin of 6,000 so the feel was fantastic off that face so you got 174 Steel in the face there but what’s really helping with the feel is the use of the urethane microsphere is really dampening down that sound really making this iron feel particularly good cuz
You’ve got a hollow body Construction in there I’m just going to hit another one lovely yeah I mean consistency of distance there was fantastic 118 uh ball speed 167 carry 6000 spin so already quite a bit consistency in that iron going to move on to the HL here
Same shaft got an Elevate True Temper Elevate there is a a range of different shaft options available in graphite and steel but I’ve got the Elevate in here the True Temper Elevate you can see straight away much bigger much bigger head longer blade length a little bit more offset
Bit of a thicker Top Line so it’s going to inspire quite a lot of confidence in there so again we’ve used the AI smartface to really look at what type of golfer needs um needs this club so and it’s optimized for them so I’m expecting
This to go quite a bit higher to be honest okay Apex there is so much higher already super easy to hit 116 B speed 158 carry spin rate’s gone up to 7,200 so this is going to help you if you’re slightly slower swing speed you need a bit of help getting the
Ball up into the air this is going to help you straight away got a slightly different design as well so you’re going back to a cavity back design a modern cavity back design here really helping with that perimeter waiting help helping make this very stable and very straight let’s give this another
Hit just so so easy to hit nice high ball flight all four of those have hit the green 116 ball speed 159 carry gain a spin rate up near 7,000 6,900 so yeah those two irons are quite different I’m not going to hit the max fast it’s really not designed for me
It’s very lightweight components I’m just going to hit it straight up in the air um but as ever you need to go and get fitted for this product um please go and speak to your local Callaway retailer um like I said earlier there’s a range of different options available
