Entire thing we watch both screens at the same time comp it like the final three hours of golf were awesome inoen absolutely compelling golf like the PGA got great golf it was the first time all season that I like was really interested in what was going on like I couldn’t get
Excited about Nick Dunlap really that seem that that that story seems like right up your alley yeah I couldn’t get excited for it uh here was Hoffman trying to make a big run and anyway I just is it because you knew Hoffman I knew Hoffman I know Taylor their names I

Returns to Riviera where you know he’s a former champion at this event this is a pretty sticky course history type spot as well but [ __ ] Sheffer man no well he he made every putt early which meant he was going to miss every putt late that’s precisely what he came to pass
But he has the range like when you like je I actually thought that like all day Sunday because I watched all of it I kind of like like 27 holes on a Sunday I find it super compelling I don’t like obviously how long it goes to and
Spilling into the Super Bowl but like Sheffer was I mean Hoffman was a man on a mission cuz he actually kept it together made all the putts but Sheffer like there was at one point like say he made five birdies in the morning in a
Row and then he had a chance to make five in a row again on holes 2 three four five and six in his final round and he finally missed the putt on number six and I wouldn’t say like it broke his putting hot streak because he ended up
Gaining Strokes putting in the final round although he lost almost three on holes I think it was 12 no it was 13 14 and 15 he lost almost three Strokes putting yet still finishing the positive for the round just if Scotty sheffer’s biggest downfall is that he hits the
Ball too close to the pin on approaches I could say so much but at the same time what is there to say like he got hot then he’s missing three Footers on the end of round three Pat he had a 25f footer on 18 he hit the ball
He puted it into the bunker that’s strategy though you can’t threee putt from the bunker and and don’t get me wrong like yes there are some runoffs and the sun was out but we’re talking about a course that rained a course that had three day four days of frost delay like we’re not
Talking about some out of control stip meter of a course that got away he put it into the bunker from 25 feet not good and everybody was funny because that happened and then you watch like the gala and Taylor come through I I actually think Taylor hit pretty close
The gala had exactly the same PT like on the next group through and put it to like an inch mhm like no no no one even came close to doing what Sheffer did no it was outrageous but are we going to look back at this part of Scotty sheffer’s career where ball striking
Wise Tia green wise he’s essentially 2000’s tiger like the numbers dictate that it is the best 18mon stretch two-year run whatever ball striking wise that basically we’ve seen since the very peak of tiger and he’s going to walk away with it with like four wins but he has 20 top 10

I think we can we can spin this one of two ways he was so far behind that nothing could go wrong for him cuz just to like just to see where the final score ended up he needed it cuz I think that I I can look into it I believe he
Got to 17 When leaders were at 18 but he was already through the birdie holes so yeah to Pat’s Point like he could never get to what was it 21 well the thing is like he he actually putted pretty well for like the overall course they let say
Yeah he gained 1.3 Strokes putting in the final round but that’s because he made the 30 foot Eagle like stuff that he had to make to claw back into it but he missed three putts in like the first seven holes from inside 5T that that was really the
Difference for him that but I mean he shot 64 he shot the round of the day yeah but think like oh yeah but it was out there for him like the way that he was driving the ball was amazing I I just every like Taylor was having problems going right the all day
Saturday all day he need to hit that bunker on 18 with the ball just pops yeah happen both times well they talked about him teeing it up low I mean that’s why you Tee It Up low like Hoffman looked like he was falling over on every
Just dead center every time well and he was walking around with that poor back brace on during I I said to Pat we were watching him warm up on the Range and like going to the he still has his back brace on this is not good for those of
Us who desper heating pad whatever it was I was like I really want Hoffman to win but this is not inspiring confidence and but he didn’t play poorly in the playoff no he just got beat yeah like Hoffman didn’t do anything wrong he just got beat there was a point like when we
Were I forget what hole it was it was probably like four or five like Taylor was playing like crap but even on number three like he had to take a penalty yeah and then he had then he had to hit it below the tree to get it back into the
Fairway on the easy par five put it in the put it in the bunker and then he put his bunker shot to like two feet and saved car that way like the amount of scrambling he did was outrageous like if it was 60 feet from the rough getting it
Up and down that was to 5T and there was like every he birdied what five of the final six holes including the two playoff holes every time that he stood up to a 15t putt it was just in timeall was the opposite he missed that
On 11 he finally it felt like he finally had some momentum going and he was only a shot back and he stuck it it was a beautiful shot on probably the hardest Par Four on the course he hit that draw in he hit the hill and he had it to like
Eight feet and he lipped out the Putt and that was the end of theala yep that was it Nick Taylor’s week even like before Sunday it was literally like when JT’s amazing in big tournaments and he has to lay up to like the 120 yard range and
Then he sticks it to 4 feet to make par there was twice round two and round three he didn’t just do what he did to in regulation and the playoff on 18 his scrambling on 18 in rounds two and three may have also won him this tournament
Because he was short of the green had to lay up had [ __ ] drives and he hit he hits it to like three feet it helps that he shot like 60 or on on Thursdays yeah that got had all those to play with too when you shoot 60 at a course which is
Happening a lot these days people are shooting in the 50s got got Strokes early all the time now you put him in his back pocket yeah well I mean congratulations on your 180 to1 hit yeah it’s fantastic we saw a lot of people in the pme universe hit Nick Taylor tickets a

And they commercial right away yeah but again I’m proud of myself for not betting him if he had just take a look at the leaders like Sheffer was just above Break Even putting almost ex he actually gained exactly the same amount of Strokes 04 as Justin Thomas so obviously
The ball striking for Sheffer was much much better but Thomas is going to kill us one of these weeks when he finds the Putter and he’s just going to win by like who was it they said is a perfect ball Striker and a perfect short game
Player I can’t remember who it was if that were he would win every tournament they they cut to someone they’re like oh my God like his his ball striking like one of the best on tour it’s like but he’s even better on the greens and it

This tournament the only two outliers were Andrew Novak and Charlie Hoffman I was like well the Super Bowl’s in Vegas this is basically walking up to the roulette table and double zero hitting Charlie Hoffman what were Hoffman’s odds they I I don’t know I assume they were
Like 400 to one because to me I mean this Hoffman winning would have caught me more off guard than Nick Dunlop well yeah you mentioned Nick Dunlop on the show so of course that’s true but that wasn’t even in the context of betting it was just like I would have been like I
Am more surprised that Charlie Hoffman won than like a superstar amateur in 2024 the way the trajectory these kids seem to walk through the tunnel with is that it for Charlie Hoffman was that it and you won’t you would you won’t even sniff him a bet for the rest of the year
