Jordan Love discussed his first year as the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers as he visited with USA TODAY Sports’ Mackenzie Salmon on Radio Row on Friday before the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
Love shared insight in how sitting behind Aaron Rodgers helped him become the quarterback he is today.
He also talked about what makes Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes so great.

Not that wasn’t the case so was able to take advantage of that opportunity and uh I was excited and grateful for my opportunity to be the starter this year yeah I mean we all know the impact that Aaron had on Packers history but I mean how important was it for you to have
Such a good season like you did because of the role you had to fill it was a a huge part of that you know being able to sit there and just watch Aaron watch how he handles his business how he goes about every every day from the facility
And obviously the very cool plays he makes and throws he makes so it’s awesome to be able to see that and just kind of you know grow my game see somebody else do it see how maybe I I might want to do things how I might not
Want to do things so uh just elevate my game see a different perspective of somebody else doing it at the highest level so I’m grateful for that opportunity it made me a better player because of it the Packers give you love the Packers the Packers says they give
Me love for sure they the Packer fans are great they love all the Packer players everything we do they they’re great fan base so uh for somebody who might not really know football like that why would you say that the cheese heads are such a good fan base they’re die
Hards I mean facts they’re out there freezing cold games with their shirts off out there going crazy and uh you know they they bring a lot of energy and excitement but Green Bay if you’ve ever been there it’s a small town and I feel like everybody out there is a Packer
Fans but they love it they like they live for the Packers so um I’ve really never seen a fan base like that obviously there’s some other great fan bases but I think we got the best out there I’d love to know your opinion on the whole game changer versus game
Manager debate that cam keeps bringing up I mean the dude’s wearing the shirt I think today again but uh what’s your opinion on it yeah I mean I think I think every you know quarterback brings a different perspective brings a different style of play um you know no
Player is shaped the same no player plays the same so um you know I I I think there’s different players I think there’s different play Styles but at the end of the day we’re all NFL quarterbacks everybody’s made it to the highest level it took a lot of effort a
Lot of work to get there it’s not easy so um you know I respect everybody that’s made to the NFL just because my journey I know how hard it is to get there um and I know how many people have tried to get there and fell short so um
I’m grateful for it and I respect everybody that plays the game because it it’s not easy to get there yeah yeah well if there is any truth to it I think we can both agree that Patrick Mahomes is a game changer oh yeah um so in your
Opinion what makes him such a good quarterback um obviously you know he does things that most quarterbacks do and then he does things that not every other quarterback does with the off schedu plays the the way he’s able to extend some of these plays and make some
Crazy throws um and make it look so easy so um he’s he’s a very fun player to watch somebody I like to take little bits and pieces I see him doing some cool things I’m like okay I want to I want to try that I want to you know see
If I can do that but uh he’s a he’s a very fun player to watch phenomenal player okay very rapid fire questions for you first one you can say yourself for this too who is the most unfairly hated on quarterback in the league right now I don’t think people hate you though
Unfairly hated on a quarterback let me think here man I feel like just because I in my division Justin Justin Fields gets a lot of hate from from especially from bars fans so right your own people yeah that’s my dog he’s a he’s a hell of a
Player as well he’s a great player so um I’m excited to see what happens with him in the future but I feel like he gets a lot of hate Brock py he’s doing some phenomenal things he gets a lot of hate as well um but yeah yeah those two all
Right where are they going so these are some players that have like questionable feutures okay kurk cousins Kurt I don’t know what uh Kurt cousin obviously recovered from his injury so I don’t know what his situation is I don’t know if he’s going to be back in Minnesota if

Jordan loved is such a fun and genuine dude and I am so glad that he is my team's quarterback
He truly has the potential to be better than Mahommes, which is crazy, hopefully we do it right this 3rd go around and are able to get more than 3 super bowls out of a half century worth of top 10 QBs of all time
Easy guy to cheer for. Humble.
