Liverpool: No Salah, No Problem | TLC 54

It wasn’t a classic at Anfield on Saturday, but all of Liverpool’s forward line found the scoresheet and The Reds sit top of the league. Can Liverpool hold their nerve and win number 20? Can they keep on finding a way through adversity? And is it now nailed on that Xabi Alonso will succeed Jürgen Klopp?

  1. I'm all in for Xabi but my concern is, what happens if we approach him and he say's he wants one more year at Leverkusen – CL footy with them or maybe just family reasons, uprooting again etc. What do we do then? Great show – fuck the dissenters! #YNWA

  2. LOVE the Alonso confidence boys! To be perfectly honest Alonso was my only choice the day i found out the klopp news.

  3. A bit random, but when Paul mentioned how other clubs would bite your hand off to have 'only' won one league title under Kloop, I was reminded of being at a conference looking into ways of how to tackle actual poverty and the just as importantly, perception of poverty (as it is the latter that is the real fucker) and a chap from the CAB got up and did a presentation on how as a society we are conditioned to avoid even thinking about the question of how much is enough, in all areas of our lives. I agree with both of you that character is needed to achieve potential, as talent can often be wasted and I think learning to put the issues we face in perspective helps develop character. We might end up winning fuck all this season and I will be gutted we do (especially if it is by the point PGMOL deducted from us against Spuds – no I won't let it go either) but regardless of what might happen Jurgen Klopp has already done enough to be a Liverpool legend now.
Bit of random bollocks for you both there.
Love what you do and will enjoy listening for as long as you can be arsed to do it.

  4. The fact they never let the 115 charges go is the main reason I love this pod but Copey's argument for Lijnders on a previous show was right up there. Watched the Leverkusen game and would be happy with Alonso but still Lijnders for me.

  5. Do love the chat around Alonso at the end. Obviously, there is plenty of time between now and the end of the season.
But think a chat around the candidates to take over from Klopp could be it's own show down the line

  6. Love the show lads!! And don't change because if I wanted talk radio knobheads I would go there. You are both the furthest thing from that. Absolutely brilliant!!

  7. Lads, I tend to agree with everything you say. Klopp, brilliant. FSG, brilliant. Some people are never happy no matter how successful we are. Keep up the good work. 👍

  8. FSG have done an incredible job, some will never give them credit and that’s tough shit on them, imagine being that thick 🤦🏼‍♂️ Great context from Copey, The Stadium is a huge point, we were going right the other way, imagine looking at Anfield now as a housing project but instead we’ve kept our home and it’s growing bigger and bigger, all done sustainably whilst Jürgen won the major trophies as we’ve signed apple unreal players, brought in academy players. We’ve amazing training facilities for the Men’s and Women’s teams. We’ve been living a golden era for Liverpool FC. Keep it Lit 🔥 lads, love listening to your channel.

  9. If only they applied their scepticism to the media and politics, that's a chummy club … speak out of turn and your editor fires you .. and its podcast time …

So, if footie was as bad, and its corporate enough … FSG would get you guys jobs with a mainstream media prostitution outfit …

Footie aint as bad as other corporate worlds (the tin foilers should know), which is why footie politics and business is covered in such detail … to pretend to people that the whole corporate world is a meritcocracy …

In what other job do bosses get fired s easy? They usually get promoted for being sh*thouses

  10. Such a good topic, have players got the character for Liverpool? Loads have come and thought they’ve made it – Kewell, Balotelli, Cole, Diouf whilst some have had a point to prove – Robertson, Gary Mac, Mo and Coutinho. Give me a player with a point to prove and a chip on his shoulder any day of the week. Just look at Ian Rush – went to Paisleys office, our most successful manager ever, and demanded to know why he wasn’t playing instead of sitting in the reserves picking up his wages and we all know what happened next.

  11. As good as FSG have been, I can’t help but think they wasted a golden opportunity to truly capitalise on Klopps reign. Also what happened to the investment.. seems that went sour now all of a sudden Klopp is losing energy…

  12. 5th wealthiest club in world football, club worth 10 x what they paid for it, 11th highest net spend in the prem akin to Wolves, kin great……..Proper delusional 😂😂😂

  13. If you could swap Elliot with Cole Palmer you would & that’s why Elliot ain’t good enough to be a starter

  14. You hear Sky, TalkShite and the rest of media making a mountain from a molehill. Then you have 2 genuine fans talking sense.

  15. Great stuff as usual lads! 2 adults discussing the team we all love with reasoned arguments and common sense. It will never catch on (unfortunately) but so refreshing in a world of clueless blerts. Thanks a lot

  16. The criticism of Jones was and is ridiculous, he has always shown himself to be adaptable and very capable. He has shown himself able to directly follow instructions from the manager – filling in multiple positions, I love that "Swiss Army Knife" analogy, Robbo – and I think that's his biggest asset. He obviously always has had outstanding talent. Elliott has been hugely impactful from the bench this season. I'd personally like to see him take this into starting appearances. Too often he's ineffectual when he starts for me. He is still young, though, as you say.

  17. Houllier, Benitez, Rodgers and Klopp all referred to "character" regularly in interviews. The best Liverpool sides have all had character and those who have been the hardest to endure have lacked it. Anyone who has played the game at any reasonable level knows it is an important facet of success in football.
