Bodycam footage shows Columbus sergeant getting hit by stolen vehicle, firing shots at suspect

The Columbus Division of Police released body camera footage from the sergeant who was struck by a stolen vehicle on the city’s north side on Wednesday.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla they said was stolen out of Lancaster, but were unsuccessful. They decided to stop after a short period of following the vehicle.

Around 30 minutes later, officers found the Corolla in the parking lot of the Sheetz gas station at 975 East Dublin Granville Rd.

Police said the plan was to deploy stop sticks to prevent the vehicle from fleeing again, but officers saw the vehicle turn into Huntley Square shopping center and start driving erratically. Officers were able to block off all the exits of the plaza.

Bodycam footage from the sergeant shows him get out of his cruiser and run in the direction of the stolen vehicle that was reversing through the parking lot.

The sergeant then gets out his gun and points it at the vehicle, telling the driver to “stop the car” twice before the driver accelerates the vehicle and hits him.

While on the hood of the car, the sergeant fires multiple shots into the front window, striking the driver at least once. He then falls off the hood and onto the road as the vehicle drives over a grassy median and exits the parking lot.

Other officers who were already at the scene shouted at the driver to get out of the car as the driver attempted to accelerate before she was able to free the vehicle and take off onto East Dublin Granville Road.

Bodycam then shows the sergeant who was struck walking around and talking to other officers and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies at the scene who tell him to sit down and wait for a medic. The sergeant, who is not being identified because of Marsy’s Law, was taken to Grant Medical Center and later released on Friday.

While Graham was attempting to leave the area, she reportedly hit two other vehicles head-on in the area of Interstate 71.

Officers took Graham into custody and rendered aid until medics arrived. She was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in serious condition, Albert said.

Police said the occupants of the two vehicles that the woman hit were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has initiated an investigation.

  1. How about that person not using a car as a weapon to run over another human being who was trying to do their job. And looks like he did not expect that person to put the car into forward and punch it. But really think about it- you are that policeman/woman and you have s split second to think what you’re going to do when someone decides to come directly at you a few feet away that you thought was maybe going to stop with you pointing a gun(because you are the police) at them and they don’t. It’s just not that easy to judge someone(police)in that situation

  2. There shouldn't even be comments on these videos. It just brings out all the internet "experts" who have no idea what they're talking about & think they could do better. None of you halfwits would even have a clue what to do, you'd be shitting yourself if you had any real responsibility. As usual.

  3. If this had occurred in California or the northeast or Minneapolis/St. Paul or any other ultra-liberal area of the country, you can bet that the cop would be facing felony charges for simply saving his own life.

  4. First mad Karen was on adrenaline rush, second cop mag dumped into lower, abdomen leg area probably missed a few was confirmed by the story. I got her at least once, but it looks to me like a couple of times, Third, possibly deceased, the weight of her legs from the engine rev of the car, accelerated the vehicle forward.

  5. Suspect hit by one round, in serious condition, wrecked into two other cars after this and was apprehended. Sergeant is released and on paid leave, healing from serious bruising and torn ligaments, is recovering. Injuries from being hit by the car, then dumped onto the road. Whatever was going on with the criminal in the stolen car, she's now going to have many years in jail to think how stupid she is.

  6. This is a really poor shoot. There were other ways of arrest if she fled the scene, lethal force was not necessary. This officer just emptied his weapon into the car, he had no idea who was in the car. This was an officer embarrassed that he got knocked over because he placed himself in a stupid position. Very poor policing.

  7. ….of course she's going to run. Somebody that puts a trailer hitch on a toyota corolla that has a CVT transmission isn't really thinking things through.

  8. See, this is what you get unfortunately when you vote for someone that doesn’t believe in making ALL communities safer and better! This is the aftermath of a George Soros ran city. I’ve done a lot of research on him and his many foundations. So ol’ George fundraises several politicians per year. Once his newly elected politician gets into office, he/she defunds police, raises taxes, doubles down on DEI, and then waits for the volcano to erupt. He’s done this same tactic with Vallejo CA, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Pablo CA, Richmond CA, San Jose CA, Chicago, Baltimore, Houston, Minneapolis among MANY other cities in America. A good friend of mine who knows many people, once told me that supposedly BLM and the soros foundations’ were paying “researchers” to drive to different cities and to start “researching” once they arrived. Around the time that he told me about this, is when the FBI raided the homes of some of the founders of BLM. They found all sorts of interesting stuff. Supposedly, homeless people were also getting shipped to different cities throughout America and were payed on a monthly basis with a state funded debit card. Have you seen Austin, TX lately?? Does it remind you of San Francisco at all? Have you seen parts of Florida?? These so-called paid provocateurs go from city to city in groups, and supposedly set up shop. These people are supposedly the ground troops, making people and families uncomfortable. I guess their goal is to start having people move away, thus making it a new “democratic territory” once all of the hardworking, tax paying citizens are fed up with the “new” crime wave that has suddenly hit their once beautiful city. Republican ran cities and states need to be very cautious and vigilant! Police need to continue doing their jobs, and utilize probable cause and reasonable suspicion to keep their cities safe from violence and domestic terrorism(ANTIFA) Also if you see something say something!! You won’t be labeled anything except a hero if you call the authorities on people that look suspicious or look like they are up to no good. After all it’s your right to.
Good luck! And God bless ✝️✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸

  9. All for a stolen car? So after the cop went stupid on the car the stolen car was damaged then hit and damaged more cars. Then the car thief was taken to the hospital for surgery for bullet wounds to be paid for by taxpayers. Now the thief will get time in jail on the taxpayers dime. All for a stolen car that is trashed.

  10. I think the only time the car thief hurt bystanders was after she was shot. No cop in front of car and no bystanders may have been hurt.

  11. why do cops do this dumbness of standing in front of a car? they purposely put theirself in a position to shoot and kill the driver. my 5 year old knows not to stand in front of cars. especially ones you know are trying to get away!!!!
